In Tommy’s departure, we mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His Kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Nancy Lou Buckley - June 03, 1935 - February 08, 2024

Departed: 02/08/2024 (Howard City)
Obituary Preview: Nancy Lou Buckley, Age 88, a longtime resident of Howard City, passed away surrounded by loved ones to be with her Lord and Savior on February 8, 2024. Born June 3rd 1935, Nancy grew up in Greenville Michigan. She was cherished and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Nancy had a real zest for life, and a love for travel. Early on, she took that love and became a traveling saleswoman for Judy Lee Jewelry, combining two joys into a career. Later, as her young family began to grow, the need to settle down arose. At that time Nancy and her husband Ralph moved from Greenville to Howard City to own and operate the Buckley Adult Foster Care Home. This home gave care to many special people and families from the community, as well as served as the family home. Her home became a place where endless memories were created. All who knew Nancy, could tell you a story from some get-together, whether it was a summer chicken BBQ, fish fry, birthday party, Christmas gathering, game of cards, or simply just having the kids over to swim in the pool. Her home was full of love and joy. When Nancy wasn’t hosting, you would most likely find her dancing with Ralph and friends at the V.F.W. or American Legion on Saturday night. Sundays were reserved for service at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Nancy never lost her joy for travel. With a larger family, she would often go on camping trips, later investing in a motorhome and camp throughout the country. Her international travel brought her to Mexico many times, where she enjoyed relaxation and formed friendships that ultimately became family. Again, her love for helping others called her to invite three young exchange students from Mexico into her home and family. These families became part of Nancy and Ralph's family, and they all would travel back and forth long after the schooling ended. Nancy’s passion for helping others continued to shine, at one time, staying in Mexico for months to assist at an orphanage.
In her later years, her joy for helping children transitioned to a role as Grandma at McNaughton Elementary School, assisting students within the classroom. She found great pride in working with children and watching them improve and grow. During the late spring and summer, when school was out, she loved watching her plants come to life. Nancy could often be found outside tending to her flowers and listening to the birds chirping. She could find beauty in most things, whether it be flowers, jewelry, or the people she surrounded herself with. She could be recognized in a room by the sound of her infectious laugh. With a clamor and sincerity, her laugh would capture the attention of all those around, putting a smile on their faces.
Till we meet again at the next Buckley get-together, rest in peace Nancy Lou.
Nancy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Buckley, mother, Gertrude White, and sister, Marcia White. Nancy is survived by her brother Duane (Jacquelyn) White, father of Cinda, Raschelle, Nicole, and Russell; her children: Virginia Morris, mother of Brandy and RJ; Norah (Ken) Bash, mother of Katie, Julie, and Robby; Michael Buckley (Dave Haveman); Penny (Michael) Warner, mother of Reanna and Zackery; Kandee (Calvin) Rogers, mother of Fawn, Wayne, Forest, and Amanda; Albert Buckley (Cathy Beattie), Father of Branden; Lisa (Lieu) Sabin, mother of Helena, Claudia, and Spencer; Heather (Brian) Akey, mother of Nate and Hannah; and her 15 great grandchildren. As well as her family in Acapulco Poncho Vega, Alfred Ludwig, and Lety Vega.
A memorial service to celebrate Nancy’s life, as well as luncheon immediately after, will be held Wednesday, February 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 18669 W. Howard City-Edmore Rd, Howard City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
