He loved fishing and hunting and was an avid horse racing fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy A. Lewis Douglas, 2 sisters and 10 brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Evelyn Calbert Lewis, his daughter, Francine (Sydney) Battle of Englewood, OH., 2 sons, Barry Wayne (Donna) Lewis, Timothy (Becky) Lewis, both of Bardstown, 7 grandchildren, Terrence M. Lewis, Amber N. Lewis, Keisha J. Stone, Brooke J. Battle, Sydney N. Battle, Jr., Britney L. Lewis, Corey A. Lewis, 6 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Francis Smith Lewis will be 2:00 pm Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Campbells Chapel AME Zion Church. Interment will be in Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 pm. The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 19, 2008 in Elizabethtown to Bethany Case. Noah was a student at Bardstown City Schools and he attended Chaplin Christian Church. Noah loved his family, he enjoyed music and going to church, and loved race cars, the louder, the better.
He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Charles "Bill" and Mary Case.
He is survived by his mother, Bethany Case and her boyfriend, David West of Chaplin, his brother, Lucas Kidd of Chaplin, his grandparents, Bruce and Sue Case of Bloomfield, W.A. and Connie Kidd of Bardstown, Brenda Moody of Bardstown, his great grandparents, Lawrence Ray and Bettie Coulter of Chaplin, his special aunts and uncles, Suzanne and Jeremy Stokley, Amber and Andy Dones as well as several other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Noah Brooks Kidd will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Chaplin Christian Church. Bro. Jeremy Stokley will officiate. Interment will be in Brush Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at Chaplin Christian Church Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 pm. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the family for funeral expenses. She loved being outdoors.

She is survived by her daughter, Lois (Kenny) Prewitt of Shelbyville, 2 sons, Tracy (Holly) Chesser, Donnie (Michelle) Chesser, both of Louisville, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He is survived by 3 sons, Namon E. Milburn, Jr., Steven Milburn, both of Louisville, Joshua Milburn of California, his mother, Minnie Cook Curtsinger of Bloomfield, his stepmother, Della Milburn, 3 sisters, Brenda (Brad) Rogers, Joy(Jerry) Lewis, both of Chaplin, Donna (Roy) Glaze of Stanford, 5 brothers, Frankie (Debbie) Chesser of Cox’s Creek, Ricky (Teresa) Hilbert, Sherman (Adina) Milburn, Stevie (Laura) Milburn all of Taylorsville, Terry (Denise) Milburn of Mt. Eden, and 4 grandsons.

She loved flowers, being outdoors and horses.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney Simpson, her daughter, Courtney Miller of New York, 2 sons, Tyler Simpson of Bardstown, Bucky Miller of Wisconsin, a brother, Bobby Cox of Illinois, and 5 grandchildren.
Pam’s family respectfully chose cremation. Memorial visitation will be 4:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield who is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Cheek, her daughter, Sherry (Charlie) Henry of Bowling Green, her son, Rob Gaw of Bloomfield, her brother, Bob (Sheila) Emerson of Louisville, sister, Mary (Mike) Morgan, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, numerous other family members and dear friends also survive.

Willard Dale "Bill" Bowman - April 21, 1933 - February 22, 2024

Obituary Preview: A Fairfield resident, Mr. Willard “Bill” Dale Bowman, age 90, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 at his residence. He was born April 21, 1933 in Stella, Missouri to the late ‘Doc’ and Bessie Bowman. Bill retired from International Harvester in Louisville and Phillip Morris in Concord, North Carolina before moving to Fairfield in 1995. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. An Army veteran, he picked up a lifelong preference for tea with milk and a bit of sugar while stationed in England. Exceptionally adept at mechanics, he repaired every broken thing brought to him by family, friends, and neighbors - guaranteeing his “work for 30 days or until your tail-lights are out of sight, whichever comes first.” Bill had a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. He was a steady, reliable, and rock-like foundation and support for his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Eleanore Bowman, whom he cared for tenderly at home throughout her very long decline from Alzheimer's. He was also preceded in death by his young sister, Wilma Nadine Bowman, his teenage brother, Jerry Bowman, and his adult brothers, Joe, Charles, and Jim Bowman.
Bill is survived by his children, Mike Bowman of Fairfield, Mark (Sandra) Bowman of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Kathie (Jesse, deceased) Estrada of Blanco, Texas, Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Matt (Carmel) Bowman of Bardstown, and Karol (Chris) Tuke of Latonia, Kentucky. Bill is survived by his loving friend, Jean Carol Shields, his brothers Sam (Betty Jo) Bowman and Kenny (Theresa) Bowman, fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Fairfield. Rev. Kirby Rust, celebrant. Visitation will be 3:00-8:00 pm, Monday at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield and Tuesday from 8:30-10:45 am. A prayer service will be Monday at 6:00 pm. Inurnment will be in St. Michael Church Cemetery at a later date.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army in Nelson County in his memory.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Sutton Butler, 4 sons, Danny (Sandra) Porter of Bardstown, Prentis (Missy) Payne of Louisville, Arthur Thomas Butler Jr, William “Bill” (Mary Jo) Butler both of Bardstown, 2 daughters, Dianna (Frank) O’Neal and Crystal Butler both of Louisville, a sister, Cleola Butler Mills of Louisvile. He is also survived by grandson whom Arthur and Mary Alice raised Jamehyl “Buddy” Butler along with several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm, Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Bloomfield 2nd Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Butler and Bro. Roscoe Linton. Interment will be in Bloomfield Cemetery. Doris is survived by her son, Darrell Hardin (Sandy) of Cox’s Creek, daughters, Pamela Best (Jay) and Paula Hutchins (Patrick) both of Louisville, and Beth Nall (Steve) of Lexington, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Doris spent her life dedicated as a farmer’s wife and mother. Her greatest earthly treasures were her children and grandchildren. At age 54, Doris graduated from Watterson College with honors and worked for DCE in Louisville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Louise Joan “Betty” Hawkins, a son, William Avery Hawkins, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Kaye Hawkins.
He is survived by his son, Wayne (Sandy) Hawkins of Chaplin, his daughter, Wynnette Hawkins of Chaplin and 2 sisters, Margie Muncy of Louisville, and Ilene Crouch of Bloomfield.
Funeral services for Mr. Forest Hawkins will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Bro. Leland Parks will officiate. Charlie was a retired employee of General Electric, was a farmer, and served in the Army Reserves for 13 years. He enjoyed farming, boating at Green River Lake, loved spending time with his grandchildren, and was an avid UK basketball fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Cale and Winford White, and his sister, Clara Cardenas.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Dugan White, his sons, Trever Todd (Ronda) White of Lexington, Aaron C. (Tiffany) White of Shepherdsville, and his grandchildren, Hayden, Conor, Caius, and baby boy due in July.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean Satterly Warner, his daughter, Sherry (Mike) Metcalf of Bardstown, 2 grandchildren, Travis (Kristen) Fenwick of Bardstown, Dustin (Christy) Fenwick of Mt. Washington, and 4 great grandchildren, Gavyn, Chloe, Grady, and Lincoln. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Bob, affectionately known as “Dirty Bob”, served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Bob often said he lived a good life-retired for 35 years and has no regrets about his life.
Bob has been a member of Elizabethtown Country Club for many years as well as the Moose Lodge in Bardstown, KY.
Bob has belonged to various clubs including Citizens Against Alcohol, Citizens Against Profanity, and Citizens Against Gambling.
While growing up in New Jersey, Bob was involved with the Soprano family- he did various jobs for them and upon his retirement when he moved to Kentucky, he continued to do special high-profile jobs for the Soprano family.

Obituary Preview: Anne (Humphrey) Rothstein, formerly of Bloomfield, age 103, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, in Farmington, CT. She was born October 27, 1920, in Wakefield to the late Robert and Anne (Durrett) Humphrey.
Anne was a 1939 graduate of Bloomfield High School and attended the University of Kentucky. Her career as a lyric soprano began while singing in church and in summer operas with the visiting San Carlo Opera Company.
In 1945, Anne moved to New York City. Already a member of Chorus Equity, she started auditioning immediately. She appeared in two Broadway shows, Make a Wish and Lost in the Stars, as well as off-Broadway and NBC Opera Theatre. But she was especially proud of having been a member of the Radio City Music Hall ensemble for five years, appearing in four shows a day (five during the holidays!).
While on an out-of-town tour she met her husband Marvin, a trombonist in the band. They thoroughly enjoyed their life in Manhattan but moved to Hartford when Marvin obtained a faculty position at the University of Connecticut. Married for nearly sixty years until Marvin's death in 2011, they lived out their lives in Connecticut, but she never lost her southern charm and unfailingly polite and cheerful demeanor.
Predeceased by her parents, husband Marvin, double cousin Jane McBrayer, and "country" cousin Mary Snider. Survived by niece Ruth Rothstein, nephew Robert Rothstein, and several Kentucky cousins.
A graveside service for Mrs. Anne H. Rothstein will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Maple Grove Cemetery. The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bird Ball, his daughter, Donna Sheryl (Kenney) Monroe of Cox’s Creek, 2 sons, Hoyt L. “Corky” (Donna) Ball, Jr. of Chaplin, Byron (Sharon) Ball of Sonora, 4 grandchildren, Megan (Kevin) Lutz, Scott (Crystal) Ball, Matt (Jenni) Ball, Allie Abner, and great grandchildren, Bryce Ball, Breeanna Ball, Levi Lutz, and several other great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Hoyt Lee Ball, Sr. will be 12:00 noon Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy. Bro. Keith Creech and Bro. Mike Willingham will officiate. Interment will be in Highview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:00 am until time of the funeral service. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Mark Stromberg.
He is survived by his daughter, Ellen (Chuck) Stromberg of Louisville, his son, Todd (Lisa) Compton of Sellersburg, IN., 5 grandchildren, Christopher (Amanda) Stromberg, Hannah Compton, Clayton Stromberg, Emily Compton, Grant Compton, 2 great grandchildren, Addisyn and Carter Stromberg, and his special companion of 22 years, Linda Johnson.

Jo was always concerned with the underdog and justice, and the impact of public policy on the most vulnerable. She was a firm believer in a philosophy her son Daniel said was so simplistic it was impossible; if every person acted responsibly in their own small worlds, the world would be better. If everyone was a good child to their parents, a good parent to their children, a good sibling, good neighbor, good spouse, a good citizen of their country and good steward of their resources, most problems would be solved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Neal.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Neal of Louisville and her brother, David (Shirley) Neal of Bloomfield.
