Naomi E. Kijek - September 13, 1935 - February 04, 2023

Departed: 02/04/2023 (Pottstown)
Obituary Preview: It is with our deepest sadness we share the passing of our loving mother and grandmother, Naomi, or as she was fondly known, Sue. Naomi Estella (Sherman) Kijek, 87, passed away on February 4, 2023, at her home in Douglassville, PA. She was the wife of the late Stanley Francis Kijek, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2007.
Born in Pottstown, PA, on September 13, 1935, Sue was the daughter of the late George and Estella (Hogentogler) Sherman.
She was the heart of the family that tethered us all together. Her generosity and kindness touched everyone who met her. She loved being with her family and taking care of everyone. She was a fantastic cook who was always happy to feed anyone who walked in her door, always insisting that her guests “have some more!” She was proud of the fact that she cooked her first Thanksgiving dinner at the age of 15 all by herself. She gave the best of everything to everyone. She always went out of her way to make Christmas magical and birthdays extra special. She had a sense of peace that surrounded her and touched anyone in her presence. She was the calm oasis to our storms. She was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother first and foremost. “Mom’s taxi” was always running and she took all 5 of her children and their friends all around in her big red Oldsmobile station wagon – never complaining about all the driving. She also did this with the grandkids – but the cars changed. She enjoyed traveling and got a motorhome to take her kids on many adventures over the United States and Canada. Her door and her home were always open to family and friends, and she was glad to listen and talk with everyone. She was extremely hardworking – having numerous jobs -waitressing, factory work, secretary and then running the business with her husband. She loved planting flowers, tending to her plants in her sunroom, devouring books, singing, making jewelry, and just taking care of her family. An angel we were lucky enough to call our mom and grandmom. The sweetest woman we were lucky enough to know, love, and adore. She was one in a million. She was well loved and will be deeply missed.
Sue is lovingly remembered by her children, Stanley Kijek, Robert Kijek, Diana (& Todd) Stumpf, and Christopher (& Trisha) Kijek; her son-in-law, Kenneth Ryan Sr.; her grandchildren, Tracy, Kenny, Patrick, Diana, Evelyn, and Michael Lance; and her four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Naomi was predeceased by her daughter, Cathryn Ryan.
