Paul married the love of his life, Dena Maria Martin on November 18, 1977. In their 46 years of marriage, they raised three amazing children, Nicole Boggs (Dennis), Tracy Tucker (Eric), and Cory Crabtree (Megan). Even when his coaching years were done, he spent most weekends attending the numerous sporting events of his grandchildren, even learning to love soccer, cheering, and swim. Paul was a long-time member and former elder at Real Life Christian Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. As a preacher’s kid, he served the lord faithfully throughout his life.
A celebration of life will be held at Real Life Christian Church on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 5:00pm. The family will receive visitors after the service Saturday evening. Born in Augusta, GA at Fort Gordon Eisenhower Army Medical Center and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, Nicole brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She attended Bayside High School's Health Sciences Academy, where she excelled academically and graduated salutatorian. Nicole continued her pursuit of knowledge at the College of William and Mary, earning her bachelor's degree before obtaining her master’s degree from Baylor University. Through these experiences, Nicole made lifelong friends while continuing to strengthen her life path.
Nicole's passion for helping others, particularly children, led her to a fulfilling career as a school psychologist. Nicole’s love for helping young children radiated from her eyes when she related stories about “her cute kids” and the things they would say and do. She dedicated her talents to Little Johnny's School Psychological Services, where she made a profound impact on countless young lives.
During her years at William and Mary, Nicole's path intertwined with that of Robert Machanic, the love of her life. Their relationship started early in their first year and blossomed into a deep, true love and partnership. They experienced all of college together and grew concentric circles of friend groups. To many of their friends, it was just “Rob and Nicole”, there was no singular. As they entered the world together, their lives and passions began to blend as they formed a life. Robert fostered a sense of adventure in Nicole out of which she grew a passion for seeing the world. They traveled to Ireland, Germany, Panama, and Italy together, and had many more trips planned. He will be forever grateful for it.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Nicole devoted herself to various philanthropic causes. She volunteered with Little Pink Houses of Hope, providing invaluable support to breast cancer patients and their families. Nicole's compassionate spirit and selflessness endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her leisure time, Nicole found solace in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader and published writer, a nurturing gardener, and a talented cook. Nicole's memory will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Robert Machanic, her loving parents, Eric and Cheryl R. Woodhouse, her dear brother, Eric C. Woodhouse Jr., her adoring nephew, Damian Eric Woodhouse, and a host of relatives and friends. Her two beloved dogs, Dobbie and Gus, were constant companions, bringing her endless joy.
