Beloved Anni - October 01, 2010 - March 27, 2024

Departed: 03/27/2024 (Hermitage)
Obituary Preview: Anni October 2010 - March 27, 2024
You came to us with a crazy story of being some random street acquisition, like some guy was out on the street dealing cats..."hey kid, I've got a kitten here for you"...and you couldn't go back, there was no where for you to go. The kind of story only a Daddy's girl could sell to a Daddy.
Two older cat sisters, an older chihuahua sister, a cranky male cat roommate, a younger chihuahua sister, an even younger shephard-husky sister, a neighborhood stray who wandered in to birth four little beans, and every available lap...you never met anyone who wasn't in someway your friend. But you were closest to you big sister Stripes and the "hairless" cats around you that just couldn't seem to speak the language right no matter how much time you spent teaching them.
An eternal kitten regardless your age, always in the middle of it all, up to and including camping in pants as you kept us company in the bathroom. A cat that knew the sound of every treat can, bag, or bowl from across the house, who came when she was called, and who knew when it was bedtime.
A truly unique soul, even amongst other animals ...the embodiment of love, the embodiment of selfless giving. Of some they say they broke the mold, of you there was no mold to break. That of all the people on earth, you chose us to spend your life with is a blessing we are unworthy of. No words we could speak or write could express the depth of our love for you and how deeply you are missed. Your presence in this world was proof of angels among us. Heaven has received on your return an angel that perhaps even it is not worthy of.

Beloved Binx - March 05, 2020 - March 14, 2024

Departed: 03/14/2024 (Hermitage)
Obituary Preview: The sun shone today as another of my boys headed off to the rainbow bridge. This guy…he came to us after being left in a box in New Castle. I have a fondness for all creatures but have always been a self proclaimed “Dog person”- it was my Kate who always favored cats starting at a young age. Truth be told, when my daughter first wanted to rescue a cat, I couldn’t deny her sensitive and compassionate soul- so we adopted a cat. I knew nothing about cats except my husband and I didn’t want our house to ever smell like cat urine or a dirty litter box so we trained the cat to go outside with the dogs to go to the bathroom and amazingly it worked - the cat traipsed along on walks with the dogs, never thinking he was any different and we all coexisted beautifully. And then….
One day, over a decade ago, my Kate calls from a friend’s house, “ Mom, hear me out- there’s these kittens.. “ “No Kate!” “but mom, they were abandoned - please … we need to find them homes.” I remember sighing and closing my eyes and thinking my husband’s going to divorce me or kill me so I tried to deflect again, “Kate, we have too many animals already..” but as I drove there to pick her up I knew I would at least have a look at the three little kittens . 2 beautiful fluffy white calicos hopped about on a patio and one all black, alien looking, skinny mess cowering alone under a stand and chewing on an electrical cord. By this time they thought they could find the fluffy ones homes but not the “black sheep” - of course not, and Kate knew I had a soft spot for the oddballs. I walked over to the black cat, picked him up, fleas and mites and all, and I swear his eyes looked right into my soul. “ damn it!” I said, “ Dad’s gonna kill me.. it imprinted on me… I’ll take this one that no one else is gonna take… “ and so Binx came to live with us too. Luckily, my husband, had his two cents, but came around.
The vet estimated his birthday to be around 4/20… and I always joked he was ever the part (4/20 - iykyk) He was completely chill, laid-back and mellow -he walked with a slow swagger or saunter..he was nothing like the goofy electrical cord Chewing kitten I first met. He grew into a beautiful, sleek, shiny black tomcat with piercing green eyes. He was never destructive and he always got along with every animal that came across his path. He was never bothered by much. He would saunter in, eat his food, have himself a siesta and just casually lounge around taking In the scene around him. He was the Most easy-going pet I have ever had and his favorite toy was a giant stuffed caterpillar that he pilfered from Bennie. He would drag it around the house and he would sing to it very loudly when he thought noone was listening. It was the most bizarre behavior, but we found it entertaining. Tom would say, “ Go get your weird cat” but, truly, he fit In perfectly with our family and brought his own vibe to our tribe.
About a month ago we took Binx for a senior wellness check and I asked for a few more tests because he hadn’t seemed himself. They told us he had lost some weight and after tests and scans - it was cancer and it was bad. His health decline happened so fast, so quickly that that my forcing pills down his throat or Tom hand feeding him could halt or turn It around.. we went to a vet a few towns away for a second opinion and received same diagnosis, actually even bleaker. The type of cancer was just too aggressive. I hoped for a miracle, but sadly, over the weekend he refused food or water and his saunter was no more. It became clear that he was suffering so we made the ever difficult decision to help him pass.
I wish I could be better at really appreciating the moments when they actually occur. Major heartbreaks like this always remind you and make you reflect on fun, fond moments and memories. I really want to be better at savoring those fun times when they happen and remind myself then, that it’s always on borrowed time.
I will so miss him. While saying my goodbyes today at Hillcrest-Flynn Pet Funeral Home and Crematory (who, by the way, are seriously The Best ever…True Angels on Earth) I told him “I wish I could’ve saved you” and immediately the thought popped into my head reminding me of the day we got him.. and I thought, “ well, I guess in a way, we did save you all those years ago” I know he had a much better, fuller, life with us than he would have otherwise, but I sure will miss his magnificent self.
Til we meet again, my binky boo, you’re the guy who made me a “cat person” too. 🐾🌈💞🥹💗🐾”

Cocoa Scott - March 24, 2000 - March 06, 2024

Departed: 03/06/2024 (Hermitage)
Obituary Preview: In loving memory of our precious Cocoa.
Our lives changed the day she came into our home and changed again on 03/06/2024. She would have been 17 in June. Cocoa was the very best girl ever and loved everyone she met. She loved car rides, walks, getting puppacinos at Starbucks, ice cream cones, McDonalds french fries and cucumbers. She was an expert burrower and you always had to check under a blanket before you sat down!
She loved to be a sausage dog toasting & roasting in the sun. Just don’t expect her to go outside in the rain, cold, or snow! She loved snuggling with her family and even forgave us when we brought her little weenie brother, Milo, home a few years ago. Her parents, sister, brother and Milo will miss her tremendously & will love her forever.”

Griffin Fisher-Patterson - June 01, 2012 - February 27, 2024

Departed: 02/27/2024 (Hermitage)
Obituary Preview: Just the other day we had a dog…today we have 12yrs of memories. Our boy lived his 11yrs on this earth to the fullest. In his first 6yrs of life he walked the streets of OTR & downtown Cincinnati like he owned them & he also loved to people watch from a 4th FL APT window. In the years that followed he moved to a small rural town, gained a dad, plenty of car rides & road-trips, traveled & marked all over most of the U.S.A, had a beautiful home with a wonderful yard, a quiet road, plenty of neighbors to people watch, & lots of human cousins to watch grow up. My little city boy turned into a country boy. Not only was Griffin the best dog in the world but he was so beautiful, so smart, so energetic & so incredibly expressive. We unfortunately had to make the hard decision to end his fight with cancer & we now take comfort in the fact that he’s no longer in pain. Our little sun bathing “sunbaby” got to enjoy the past two beautiful days of sunshine & warmth. One day this wound will be a faint scar, but for now we just need to patiently take our time to heal. My little blue/gray chihuahua was a soulmate of mine & I will cherish our memories & time together forever. I look forward till the day that I drift out of this world, whistle for him & he comes galloping towards me so that I can hold him in my arms once more & take him home. 🖤💙 We will love you till the end of time my little mythical beast. Calling you our dog/pet doesn’t quite feel right cause you were our little boy, our baby. I’ll find you in our next life together my little old man 🌈💙🖤🕊️ 🎶 Griff, Griffy, Griff-Griff, Gryffindor, Chickie, Chick-Chick, Chickums, Chickle-Poo, Chickie-Poodle-Pie, Baby Boy, Chihuahua, Chi-Weetle-Weetle, Pookie, Little Old Man, Boi, My little Beast. 🎶

Jackie was the fullest of life crazy wild girl to ever of blessed our family. When we picked her up from her breeder, she was fighting off her siblings grabbing onto her brother Adam’s shoelaces, claiming them as her family.
She would then become the thrill of the neighborhood, running around with all of the dogs of the neighborhood letting them out of their gates and running the neighborhood with them. Running into the neighbors' garages and stealing tennis balls, as well as even interrupting a baseball practice by running onto the field to steal the baseball from them.

Beloved Duke - February 01, 2013 - February 21, 2024

Departed: 02/21/2024 (Hermitage)
Obituary Preview: We got Duke from a shelter in February 2014 when he was 1 year old.
He had lived on the streets and then at the shelter, so he didn’t know what to do with us. People would take him home, but he always ended up back at the shelter. They told us he would be a lot of work. We brought him home and he spent quite a few weeks nipping at us every time we were sitting down. My mom asked us when we were going to send him back and we said never - we will figure this out. It turns out he just needed a family that didn’t give up on him.
Once he realized we were keeping him, he was the most loving and cuddly dog. He loved to spend time outside running around and standing on his perch in the backyard making sure everything was ok. He loved when we would all sit down together to relax, and he got to cuddle up with us. The shelter told us when we got him that he had to be the only dog.
About a year and a half after we got Duke there was another dog who really needed us. We brought her home and at first Duke did not like her. But within a week they were best friends. Then when we were going to have a baby quite a few people were worried that he wouldn’t like the baby. But we brought her home, he sniffed her, and that was it. He loved her and was her protector. He slept in her room most nights for the next 5 years.
Last year Duke hurt his back and the doctors didn’t think he would be able to walk anymore because of it. But he proved them all wrong for a long time. He could still get around the house, jump on the furniture, and sniff around for food to steal. He could go on walks with some help. He was still happy and full of life. Then towards the end he was in pain all the time and couldn’t do all the things he loved and could never really get comfortable and rest. So now he is resting and not in pain anymore, but we sure do miss him.

Beloved Bella - January 13, 2020 - January 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: MY BELLA
January 23, 2024 is the day I had been dreading for a very long time. I lost my best friend of 13 years.
Bella wasn’t just a dog, she truly was my best friend, my beautiful always happy to see me friend, my snuggle buddy, my comfort when I was down, my comedian when I needed a laugh, my walking buddy (when she was able to), my wherever you go, I want to go friend.
She was the best dog I have ever had (and I’ve had quite a few in my lifetime). I will miss your kisses, your greetings, your barking at me for dinner, your barking just because Tucker is barking, your pooping in my car, your beautiful soft long ears blowing in the wind, your little hopping up the steps, and just having you here. My love for you will go on and on and I will miss you so much My Dear, Sweet Bella.
I hope you can see all the colors at the rainbow bridge and are running with Maxie and Dakota. I hope Sunny is flying high above you. Until we meet again sweet baby girl. XOXOXO.

Waylon McNany - January 12, 2020 - January 18, 2024

Departed: 01/18/2024 (Hermitage)
Obituary Preview: Waylon was a rescue from Strayhaven’s CARE program at the state prison SCI Mercer. I knew the moment I met him that I had to adopt him. I had adopted Boone from the same program about a year before Waylon and the two became inseparable brothers.
Waylon had the best personality and the best coonhound howl. He loved to chew up stuffies and sneak to steal the kitchen tea towel and drag it into the living room when Mom wasn’t paying attention.
He was the biggest love bug that loved everyone he met. He loved to be the biggest lap dog and snuggle with his Mom and brother. He was a beautiful goofy boy, whom we nicknamed Wascal because of his shenanigans. He was one of the biggest blessings of my life and he is truly missed I’m forever thankful he was a part of my life.
Thank you for bringing me some peace and comfort caring for him as you did. Here are some pictures of my beautiful boy.

Heidi Noelle - March 15, 2020 - January 04, 2024

Departed: 01/04/2024 (Hermitage)
Obituary Preview: Our sweet Heidi girl departed this world after 16 years, with her favorite people by her side. She spent the last 16 years living her best life; chasing birds, smelling the flowers, catching bubbles,
snorting through the snow and eating all the cheese she could sucker us into giving her.
Anyone who met our girl fell in love immediately, she loved unconditionally and gave the best snuggles. She was the best listener and shoulder to cry on for her human sister during her preteens, a man's best friend to her human brother-playing catch with any ball they could find, and her
human moms favorite child.
Our hearts were not ready to say goodbye, but her wings were.
We’re grateful for the unconditional love, belly laughs and everything in between.
Heidi will forever have a piece of our hearts. We love you sweet girl, until we meet again.

Obituary Preview: Abigail Marie Kishton crossed the Rainbow Bridge on January 3, 2023 at 15 years old after being diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer.
She was very loved at home by her parents, sisters and 3 quad-pawed brothers but she was also very loved by the many patrons at Shirt Wizard where she 'worked' as the greeter for many years.
She was a great snack buddy, the best travel companion, protector from the monsters under the bed and an all around great little girl.
She was always ready for a good tummy scratch and never rejected a snuggle.
She will be very missed by her family and all the Shirt Wizard visitors across the country.
If you would like to honor her memory, in lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal charity in her name.

Beloved Rocky - October 28, 2000 - October 28, 2023

Departed: 10/28/2023 (Hermitage)
Obituary Preview: A dog is called a man’s best friend for a reason. They are the embodiment of unconditional love and a source of entertainment. Their paws leave an indelible mark on our hearts. Our existence is sprinkled with moments of joy that our dogs bring when life is sometimes a bit too much to handle. In all the complicatedness the world brings, dogs can give a sense of simplicity. They show us what is important: to love without judgment and appreciate the little things in life. They can silence all the noise by just being there with you. And the beauty of this all? They aren’t even aware of their importance.
Whether your pet was with you for a long time or had a short stay, it’s always too soon for them to go. Losing a best friend is difficult and leaves a certain emptiness behind. But they will always be with you in your mind. When words seem unable to express the grief, pet loss poetry can help fill the void. The following poems are written to help you cope with this loss. Hold the memories of your dog close as you read the words below. Look inside your soul and you’ll see, that’s where they will always be.

Everyone joked, taking Kiowa for a walk was like walking the red carpet with Brad Pitt, everyone who saw him wanted to take pictures and admire him, he was a beauty.
He loved to smell flowers on his walks, or sit at “his spot” with his Aunt Carol, lay in the snow, or be with his big brother, Wyatt. He was exceptionally talented at opening cupboards, playing basketball and staring at his treats till he got one.
He’s missed by his fur brother Spec, fur sister Scout, and all who knew this special.

Beloved Bolt - January 01, 2016 - May 29, 2024

Departed: 05/29/2024 (Hermitage)
Obituary Preview: Never take the good times for granted. There is no certainty about what’s around the corner. Hug those you love now. Visit that friend. Call that family member. Go to dinner with your friends. Go to the beach. Walk that dog for an extra mile and enjoy every minute. Please do not put it off!!! Just last week we suddenly had to help our beloved golden retriever, Bolt, cross the rainbow bridge. All was good. He’d had a dental and an annual exam within the last two weeks. Two different vets agreed with us that Bolt was in great shape. He was the epitome of a healthy dog in every sense of the word. Chris and I were sure he was the golden who could age to ten for us and if we were damned lucky, even more.
Unfortunately, that was not in the cards. Overnight he became extremely ill. Within 2 days we saw 4 different vets, spoke with a canine dental specialist, urgent care staff as well as an internist and surgeon. At the end, there was no hope. Bolt’s heart sac was full of fluid and his abdomen was full of bloody fluid as well. The vets suspected an undetected cancerous tumor was at fault. The most humane thing we could do was to help him peacefully cross the bridge at the tender age of 8 ½. Our hearts are shattered.
The beauty of Bolt was his intense love of life. He had more energy than one of God’s creatures should ever have!!! He had the biggest heart ever! He loved to be loved. He knew his primary purpose was to put smiles on human faces and boy did he do that on a regular basis. He cherished adventure. He cherished travel. He cherished his creature comforts. He cherished his walks and golfcart rides. He cherished and blessed his humans with unconditional love.
Bolt traveled the country with Chris, me and our beloved greyhound, Tom. I like to believe that he and Tom are reunited and that together they are exploring heaven. I know they will continue to travel everywhere with us since they will always live in our hearts.
I share this news with all my family and facebook friends to help ease the burden of grief. I also share this because I believe with my entire being that it is a good wakeup call for all of us. Don’t focus on the negative. Focus on the positive. If you didn’t love, it wouldn’t hurt. Never give up the beauty of love for fear of pain.
In honor of Bolt, I am asking you to hug someone today just a little tighter and a little longer. Try a small version of doggie love; unconditional…at least for 60 seconds! Bolt was a rescue dog. Chris likes to say everyone in our house is a rescue and he is right. Should you be so inclined, we found a wonderful Golden Retriever Rescue Group here in Florida that also provides sanctuary for dogs that cannot be adopted and have special needs. Their medical bills are beyond comprehension. Their website is: www.jhgrr-fl.com. (Joshua House Golden Retriever Rescue). Check them out and if you are so inclined, feel free to donate in memory of Bolt. We have visited them personally and know first-hand this is a very well run and effective rescue group. We love you Mr. B!!! You will always be with us!!!!
