Obituary Preview: Mary Emily Marlow, age 85 of Waco, Georgia, passed away at a local healthcare facility on Thursday, May 2, 2024. She was born in Carroll County, Georgia on June 5, 1938, daughter of the late Reverend George W. and Mary Lou Entrekin Marlow. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Marie Lepard; brother, Ray Marlow; nieces, Cynthia Gann and Charity Dawn Freeman; brothers-in-law, Jerry Wright and Ronald Lepard; and a sister-in-law, Irene Marlow.
After graduating high school as the 1957 Valedictorian, she started a career with Ray Sewell Company and worked there over fifty years before retiring. Emily loved her Lord, her church and her family. She was a servant and helper to others. She was a second mother to her siblings and second grandmother to her many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed keeping her yard and garden.
Survivors include her sisters, Linda (Wayne, Sr.) Freeman of Bowdon, Sara (Kenneth) Tuggle of Carrollton and JoAnn Wright of Alabama; and brothers, Willard (Shelia) Marlow of Mt. Zion, G.W. (Linda) Marlow of Alabama, Okie Marlow of Tallapoosa and Terry Marlow of Bremen.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Grace at Five Points Church.
Services will be Saturday, May 4, at 2:00 pm from Grace at Five points Church with Brother Terry Holder officiating and Mrs. Shelia Marlow serving as music director. Conrad Bishop, Wayne Freeman, Jr., Mark Marlow, Keagan Marlow, Len Wright, Blenton Marlow, Shoan Marlow and Calvin Marlow will serve as Pallbearers. Interment will follow immediately at Five Points Cemetery with Reverend David McPherson officiating.

Dorothy was a member of Poseyville United Methodist Church, a seamstress for Turner's and Hubbard's, and a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Mr. Donald Posey, and 10 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law’s, Darles & Lon (Bo) Chaney, Sue & Tyrus Smith, Janice & Michael Bass all of Bremen, and Stepson, Donald (Bubba) Posey, Jr. of Jackson, Mississippi; Grandchildren, Randy Chaney, Scott & Anna Chaney, Brittany Keeton, Crystal & Ki Wiley, Jenna & Jesse Hicks, Ty & Kensley Smith, Tiffany & Kalen Goss, Jeremy Posey, Lindsey Posey, and Theresa Edgeworth; Great-grandchildren, Chelsee Chaney Goff, Bo Chaney, Zoey Keeton, Buster Hicks, and Michael Goss; and her only surviving sibling, whom she shared such a special bond with, Barbara & Ronnie Gaston.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 4 pm at Poseyville Church Cemetery with Bro. Jesse Hicks officiating. Ki Wiley, Jesse Hicks, Ty Smith, Kalen Goss, Bo Chaney and Randy Chaney will serve as pallbearers.  Scott Chaney will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Mr. Smith was born on October 26, 1927 in Tallapoosa, Georgia the son of the late Joe Smith and Evelyn Sanders Smith.
He was a Member of Waco Baptist Church and Chairman of the Deacons. Howard is a retired Supervisor of Sewell Manufacturing Company and a Veteran of The United States Merchant Marines.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Elizabeth Ellis Smith and a brother, Harlan Smith.
Survivors include children, Michael Joe & Shelby Smith of Tallapoosa, Alan Howard & Kathy Smith of Buchanan; sisters, Ezma Sharp, Norma Hamrick and Barbara Sue Nash; grandchildren, Amanda & Jeremy Holcombe, Jennifer Bagwell, Allison & Josh Eleton; great grandchildren, Luke & Victoria Holcombe, Savannah Holcombe, Molly Holcombe, Allissa Eleton, Justin Eleton, Kayleigh Bagwell, Jake & Kaitlin Bagwell; great-great grandchild, Houston Scott Holcombe; and sister in law, Judy Smith.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Hightower Funeral Home between 5 & 8 pm and on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Waco Baptist Church 11 am – 12 pm.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 12 pm from Waco Baptist Church with Reverend Jeremy Holcombe and Reverend Jason Hatchett officiating. John Bagwell, Luke Holcombe, Jake Bagwell, Justin Eleton, Josh Eleton and Dylan Blevins will serve as pallbearers.
Interment will follow in Waco Baptist Church Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Roslyn Jane Williams, age 61, of Bremen, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Tanner Hospital. She was born December 13, 1962, in Angeles, Pampanga, Philippines, daughter of Jack Gaines Williams and the late Priscilla Jane Price Wiliams.
Survivors include her children, Rose (Woodrow) Webster and Thomas Lee Robinson; stepchildren Crystal Robinson and Kristen Turner; sister Deborah (Jim) McNutt; brother Jacky Williams; and grandchild Aven Harris.
Roslyn's love for people helped her begin her employment career as a CNA. Later, Rosyln became a licensed nail technician and owned her salon, " The Touch of Rose," where she had many loyal clients. Due to a stroke, she had to close her business reluctantly and relocated to Arizona. In Arizona, she started her career with Home Depot, where she worked a total of 16 years. Roslyn was a dedicated employee and often received special recognition. She had a personal ministry of handing out Smarties candies to customers and dog treats to fur babies, as Roslyn had never met a stranger.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Hightower Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, or the family has requested a donation be made to the Moya Moya Foundation in memory of Roslyn Williams at moyamoya-foundation.org

Frederick "Freddy" Delmus Smith, Jr. - December 31, 1965 - April 06, 2024

Obituary Preview: Freddy D. Smith, Jr., age 58, passed away at his home in Carrollton on Saturday, April 6, 2024, following a brief illness. He was born on December 31,1965, to Freddy D. Smith, Sr., and Virginia Brewer, both preceding him in death.
His memory will be cherished by his daughter, Shay Rowland, along with her husband, Bryce, and a son, Devin Smith, and brothers, Raymond Smith and Walter Brewer. Anyone who knew and loved Freddy knows the unconditional and mutual love he had for his dog, Asher. After attending Central High School, Freddy worked in the construction field by day and was a longtime member of the local band TONGUE as lead drummer and vocalist. Also left to cherish his memory are his past and present "band of brothers", Walter "Boo" Brewer, Raymond Smith, Patrick Malloy, Damiend "Bam Bam" Smith, Butch Freeman, Mike Gribbon, Tim Lee, Phil Smith and Tracy Hosey.
A private family ceremony is being held in the near future with a larger gathering soon to be hosted by his fellow band members which will be announced as soon as details are finalized.

Homer enjoyed collecting and flying remote control planes, wood working, yard work and enjoyed playing the guitar and trumpet. He loved spending time with his grandchildren as he was called Papa and loved his great grandchildren who called him 2Pop.
Survivors include his children Shannon (Starla) Britt of Temple and Brannon (Emily) Britt of Dawsonville; brother Sammy Britt; grandchildren Shane (Audrey) Braswell of Temple, Shayna (Josh) Howell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Shayla Britt of Temple, Madison Britt and Jacob Britt, both of Dawsonville; and four great grandchildren, Shannon, Scotlyn, Savana and Nolan.

She loved to travel and going to the mountains was by far her favorite. She enjoyed writing short stories. She was an overall caregiver and loved her children very much.
Survivors include her children, Norman O’Neal, Jr. (Sandra) of Buchanan, Tracy Martin of Austell, Jeffrey O’Neal of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Ashleigh Kilby of Austell, Lauren Martin (Brandon) of Bremen, Chandler O’Neal, Jeffrey O’Neal, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Ella Martin, Mason Martin, Camden Nicholson, Adley Miller, and Vann Miller.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville, Georgia, with Mr. Norman O’Neal speaking. Norman O’Neal, Brandon Martin, and Jeffrey O’Neal will serve as pallbearers.

Diane Parrish McCrory - January 26, 1943 - March 17, 2024

Obituary Preview: Nancy Diane Parrish McCrory, age 81, of Bremen, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 26, 1943, in Carroll County, Georgia to the late George Watson Parrish and Rubye Mae Bonner Parrish. Diane attended Frisco City High School in Alabama, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Mobile College in Mobile, Alabama. She taught for 30+ years in public and private schools in Alabama and Georgia, teaching Mathematics and History and tutoring students. Diane was a member of First Baptist Church in Bremen, Georgia where she was saved and baptized in 1951. She was a kindergarten teacher there in the 1970s, as well as a Vacation Bible School volunteer and a Girls in Action leader. Later she was active in FBC Bremen missions, including mission trips to Brazil and Utah. Diane was a die-hard Auburn fan; she loved animals and had both dogs and cats as pets. She also was a huge Elvis and rock-n-roll music fan. She loved the beach and being with family, and she was her kids’ biggest fan at sporting events.
Diane was a strong, loving, kind, and giving woman and mother who persevered in life. Her favorite activity was spending time with her children, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all loved and cherished their Mama Mac.
She was preceded in death by her parents George Watson Parrish and Rubye Mae Bonner Parrish. She is survived by her four children: Marcie McCrory Ernst (Mike) of Atlanta, GA, Laura McCrory Horton (Andy) of Bremen, GA, Paula McCrory Windle (Keith) of Birmingham, AL, and Dr. Patrick McCrory (Jackie) of Raleigh, NC; nine grandchildren: Megan Ernst Tipton (Gregory), Erin Ernst, Ashleigh Horton Bridges (Matt), Ben Horton (Andrea), Allison Horton Kelly (Avery), Katie Windle, Anna Windle, Maggie Windle, & Abigail McCrory; and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen, GA at 2:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be conducted also on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 3:00 pm at the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home in Bremen, GA. Reverend Hunter Roe will officiate. Interment will follow at Center Point Cemetery in Temple, GA for the immediate family.

Danny is survived by a son, Anthony Cole of Bremen; a twin sister, Donna Elam (Tracy) of Waco; a sister, Susan Conrad (Mark) of Carrollton; and grandchildren, Carson and Leyton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Randy Cole and Ricky Cole.

Jane was a Member of First Baptist Church of Bremen and a retired Supervisor of Sewell Manufacturing with more than 50 years of service.

Obituary Preview: Walter "Preston" Reed, Jr. of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born in Basin, West Virginia on July 23, 1939, to the late Walter Preston Reed and Edith Walker Reed.
An Athens High School graduate, class of 1957, Preston enjoyed keeping in touch with his fellow classmates and being involved in planning class reunions.
He graduated from Concord College (now University) in Athens, West Virginia and received his Master's degree in Math (Abstract Algebra) from East Tennessee State University.
Preston retired from Unisys where he worked in sales and education. Then he put his computer skills to work to help establish his son-in law's plumbing company before retiring completely. After retirement he spent much of his time at the Douglasville Woodie Fite Senior Center. Playing cards was one of his favorite activities, next to spending time with his grandsons.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville.
Preston is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Rowland Reed; daughter Beth Aldridge (DeWayne) of Temple, Georgia; grandchildren, Preston Aldridge (Karen), Austin Aldridge; and great-grandson Jerry Rolan Aldridge. Siblings; Keith Reed (Thelma) of Williamsburg, Virginia, Janis Sad of Crescent City, California, Amon Reed of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Rema Reed of Pendleton, South Carolina; sister-in-law Dreama Reed of Pendleton, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Travis Reed and sister Nyanza Josephine Reed, brother-in-law Jonas Sad, and sister-in-law Valerie Reed.
A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville with Pastor James Harper and Associate Pastor Andrew Dickerson officiating.
