Jo grew up in Kansas City, KS, and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1955. She then married Donald L. Crank on May 27th, 1956. Together, they raised a house full of daughters—Rhonda, Donetta, Natalie, and Christina. In the mid-1970s, Don and Jo ran a sundry shop in Windsor, MO, and a farm in Calhoun, MO. There were many family trips in their motorhome, often to Padre Island in Texas. Don and Jo also ventured out to Las Vegas several times in the motorhome, frequently seeing Jo’s favorite singer, Wayne Newton.
In addition to wife and mother, she also held the title of Grandma Jo to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For Christmas, she’d make spaghetti and meatballs, along with pans of fudge that had everyone sneaking into the kitchen to grab an extra piece.
In 2004, after 48 years of marriage, she was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Don.
In her later years, Jo enjoyed watching her stories with her little dog, Tootsie, at her side. She also went on regular outings with her daughters, including trips to the casino and drives around the lake, looking for eagles. She loved visits from her grandkids and great-grandkids, and hearing what they were all doing. She really enjoyed making diamond dot art, too, and had a collection of many beautiful pieces.
She is survived by her four daughters, Rhonda (Ray) Brandon; Donetta (Wayne) Klasinski; Natalie (Ed) Durkin; and Christina Hernandez. She also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We all loved her very much and will miss her dearly.
