Otha Lerico Easley - February 01, 1935 - May 01, 2024

Departed: 05/01/2024 (Marietta)
Obituary Preview: Elder Otha Easley was born in Atlanta, GA, on February 1, 1935, to the late Lillian Beatrice West. He transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday afternoon, May 1, 2024, at his home, with loving family members at his side. His parents and sole brother, Kenneth Easley, Sr. proceeded him in death.
Elder Easley received his formal education in the Marietta Georgia school system, culminating in his graduation from Lemon Street High School, in 1954. He immediately joined the U.S. Army. After beginning his military career, he married his childhood sweetheart, Bobby Jean Hill, in 1958. To this union two sons were born: Otha, Jr at Ft. Lewis Washington and Richard in Okinawa, Japan. His family accompanied him on all assignments, except Vietnam.
Upon returning from Japan, he and Bobby parted ways, and later she preceded him in death. Elder Easley was a super dad. He supported his sons in their school and sports activities; even coached baseball when they played. Elder Easley spent quality time with his sons teaching them to fish, camp, the game of golf, and many other activities to ensure they become self-sufficient, good men and fathers.
During his assignment at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, he met and married his second love, Irene Streeter Easley. To this union, two sons were born; Marcellus in Frankfurt, Germany; Lawrence in Washington, DC. He also was blessed with a bonus son, Wiley.
Elder Easley served his country courageously in several capacities: Combat Medic, Chief Ward Master, Clinical Specialist, and Instructor. Upon retirement, he accompanied his wife, Dr. Irene on assignments to Germany, Korea, Texas, and Maryland. In these locations, he was employed by the Army Air Force Exchange Service, the Hitachi Corporation, U.S. Army Housing and Firestone Tire Company.
Upon their retirement to Atlanta, Elder Easley volunteered on the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT), of which Dr. Irene served as manager. He has been a member of Connection Pointe Church of God for 26 years, where he served in the positions of Ministry and Administrative Elder. He loved to travel and was an avid golfer. For over 10 years, he played twice a week with the “Paulding Seniors,” at various golf courses around Metropolitan Atlanta. It was in this organization, where he met and maintained three of his dearest friends; John Cowart, Allen Hardwick, and Alan Kovatch. This team was the ultimate foursome. His three golf buddies preceded him in death.
Elder Easley leaves to cherish his precious memory, a devoted family: his wife of 44 years, Dr. Irene S. Easley of Austell, Five sons, Otha, Jr (Barbara) Moscow Mills Mo, Richard (Sharon) Ashburn VA, Wiley (Katrina) Brunswick GA, Marcellus (Jessica) Winter Garden FL, and Lawrence (Chelsi) Peachtree City, GA.
