Marcia Louise Tulloss - September 06, 1930 - April 10, 2024

Departed: 04/10/2024 (Spokane)
Obituary Preview: Marcia Louise Tulloss (Weigelt), age 93, passed peacefully on the afternoon of April 10, 2024, her earthly life complete. She had a generous and kind soul full of love, compassion, and caring and spent much of her lifetime giving to those around her.
Marcia came into this world on September 6th, 1930, joining her brother, Loren, as the blessed and only daughter of Edna and Gus Weigelt. She grew up in Newport, Washington, where her family owned and operated a dry goods and grocery store. Winters were spent ice skating on the local ponds, and summers were spent six miles away at Diamond Lake swimming and chasing butterflies, tadpoles, and dreams with her brother and their numerous cousins, all of whom she remained close with her entire life. She hosted an annual reunion/potluck at the Diamond Lake cabin every Fourth of July for this ever-growing extended family with a large, impromptu family tree taped to the refrigerator so every generation could see where they fit in.
Marcia graduated from Newport High School in 1948 as valedictorian and from Washington State University in 1952 with honors and a degree in biology. She treasured her time at the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and stayed close to many of her sorority sisters her whole life. She went on to get a Master’s Degree in Bacteriology from Ohio State University where she met a handsome engineer and WWII vet, Robert Tulloss. He became the eternal love of her life and future husband. She returned to Spokane and worked in the laboratory at Sacred Heart Hospital as a bacteriologist enjoying the challenge of solving tough cases. Later Marcia and Bob ran the successful Spokane Compressor Company where they became known for their knowledge and fair and generous business practices. Marcia, forever a Camp Fire girl, was an enthusiastic benefactor of Camp Fire and unofficial caretaker of Camp Dartlo. Many campers remember the fun of a lunchtime spent playing in the creek at Tulloss Lawn.
The cornerstones of Marcia’s life were her family, her friendships, her many pets, her love of gardening and the outdoors, and always helping those in need by any means possible. She was no-nonsense and practical in her approach to life, impeccably frugal, and always had wonderful stories of days past she would make time to tell visitors. Her house was full of personal “heirlooms” all with great sentimental and practical value to her, but with no particular monetary value to anyone else. In Marcia’s world, nothing should ever be thrown out simply because of age. She enjoyed trekking the mountains around Diamond Lake in the summer picking huckleberries, always using the same coffee can with a wire handle that she made in her youth and had used ever since because, ”Well, why not? It still works perfectly!” and that sentiment pretty much summed up her attitude on everything in life.
She was extremely sweet and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband, her cherished grandson Ryan Hunt, her brother, and many friends, relatives, and beloved pets. She is survived by her daughter Jean Shauvin (Rick), son John Tulloss, grandson Brandon Hunt and many friends that she viewed as family and much of her treasured extended family with the Weigelts, Herbisons, Moesers, and Vawters.
One last family and friends reunion will be held in Marcia’s honor at the Dartford Cemetery at 3:00 PM on Friday, May 17th, where she will rejoin her husband Bob eternally in the family plot among the pines and wildflowers, near her picturesque Rivilla neighborhood and Dartford Creek. You were the best Marcia and we will remember you fondly and miss you dearly forever.
Donations in her name can be made to her favorite charities including Camp Fire, SpokAnimal, Union Gospel Mission, and Meals on Wheels.

William Raymond Klein - November 29, 1936 - March 29, 2024

Departed: 03/29/2024 (Spokane)
Obituary Preview: Retired United States Navy Master Chief Electronics Technician William (Bill) Raymond Klein received his final orders on 29 March 2024 and is proceeding, as directed, to a destination known only to his Supreme Commander. And no, as much as he would like us to believe, Barack Obama is not the Supreme Commander.
Bill was born in Billings, Montana, on 29 November 1936, the son of John and Elizabeth Klein. He grew up in Laurel and was educated in the “Locomotive” school system. After graduation in 1954, he attended one year at E.M.C.O.E. before enlisting in the Navy in October of 1955.
After Navy Boot Camp, he attended Electronic Technician “A” school at Treasure Island, California, and upon graduation received orders to the USS Kearsarge CVA/CVC-33 where he spent 41 months maintaining shipboard radar systems. He returned to civilian life in 1960 where he spent the next eleven months deciding what career path to pursue next. In the process he met his shipmate for life, Mary Judith Slowinski, and together they decided to return to the Navy and make it their career.
And what a career it was. They were stationed at various military installations and lived in the following states: California, Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and Maryland. They were also stationed in Newfoundland, Canada, and at Naval Station Adak, Alaska. Bill also served on the USNS Dutton TAGS-22 and the USS Observation Island EAG-154.
Bill retired from the Navy in November of 1981, after 26 years of service. He then went on to work for several government service contractors maintaining shipboard and land-based Air Traffic and was “thrown overboard” by one of the contractors in favor of younger and lower waged individuals. He and his shipmate, Judy, then decided to move west to Spokane, Washington, and seek employment with the FAA where 200 job openings were available in a seven-state western area. He was put at the top of the hire list where he remained while the FAA proceeded to fill these positions with younger applicants. This time, however, Bill refused to take age discriminatory practices laying down and filed a lawsuit with the assistance of Spokane attorneys Greg Arpin and Rich Mount. After a trial in Federal Court, the outcome of which determined that the FAA was indeed guilty of age discriminatory practices, Bill took his settlement and retired for good in the Eastern Washington community of Suncrest. Bill is survived by his wife, Judy, at the residence in Suncrest; his son, Jon, and his wife, Melissa; and grandchildren, Alexander, Mary Elaine, Lewis, Adam, and Casey of Macon, Georgia. His daughter, Lindsey Byers, and her husband, Kurt of Crystal, Minnesota; and grandsons, Jordan Moore of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Connor Moore of Suncrest, Washington. Bill also has one surviving sibling, Carol Cirricione of Jackson, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jonathan; and his sister, JoAnn Kessler

Neil Dean Hansen - August 31, 1959 - March 01, 2024

Departed: 03/01/2024 (Spokane)
Obituary Preview: Neil Hansen passed away the morning of March 1, 2024.
He was a military brat in the midst of an unpopular war, moving every two to three years as his dad learned to fly F4s and then went to Asia. Playing in the sage lands outside his home in Big Springs Texas (flight training). Collecting Tarantulas along with his brother in the field across from our house in California (Top Gun School). Fishing in the swamps of Florida. Watching the war news every evening with Mom in Washington state while his dad flew missions in Vietnam. Wandering the local communities off-base of Clark Air Force base in the Philippines. His younger brother John soon joined Neil and Craig, and they became a team - navigating frequent moves, new schools and making new friends. The three had so many adventures together and saw a more serious side of life as some of their friends’ fathers lost their lives or were imprisoned in the war. That would change after they welcomed back the POWs (waving their hand-colored signs) in San Antonio.
Moving to Spokane Washington (now with his sister Amber), and living on a farm, he began a more normal life. Neil’s lifelong love of animals (and particularly birds) really started there, and Neil joined the Future Farmers of America (FFA), always wearing the jacket, and always defending its honor against the townies that looked down on the country kids. He was known as a tough kid and never shied away from a fight. All three brothers graduated from Cheney High school, and all three brothers (and then Amber) would join the military. Neil joined the US Army right out of high school.
Neil would go on to Ranger School and join the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington DC where he met his wife, Donna. Neil and Donna got married on January 17, 1981. After leaving the Army he drove a truck around the country, operated heavy equipment, and worked in receiving at Hanford Nuclear Reservation. He often talked with his brother Craig when he was at Hanford, sharing philosophies on how nuclear work should be performed. During the winter months, he volunteered for the Greater Spokane Meals on Wheels to deliver food to seniors when transportation was difficult.
His true passion, however, was racing, and there was no place he was more at home then on the track, helping others - or entertaining the crowd by burning cars, or flying down the strip at 300+ mph.
Neil is survived by his wife Donna, stepson John Langford, son Anthony Bradbury, and siblings Craig, John, and Amber Hansen.
A viewing for Neil will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on March 21, 2024 from 11:00-1:00PM.

Nick graduated from Mt. Spokane High School and attended Spokane Falls Community College. Most recently he worked for Dealer Auto Auction in Airway Heights. He loved his job, his boss and his co-workers.
Nick had many passions, family and sports, just to name a few. He loved every family event and attended everyone that had he could. He loved to get together, laugh and share with his large extended family. His second passion was sports, anything sports, he could quote any stat from any sport at any given time. When he was a grade schooler, he would pour a bowl of cereal and rather than turn on cartoons he would grab the sports page and read. He loved Cougar football and Gonzaga basketball. He loved playing golf with his brother Cody and his stepsisters. He wasn’t very patient with a bad shot, but who is?

His grandparents, Papa Jerry and Grandma Carol and Grandma Sota. His Aunts and Uncles, Julie, Dave, Kathy, David, Diana, Laurie, Tom, Christy and Jeff.

Richard "Rick" Bourne Cullen - March 30, 1953 - February 19, 2024

Departed: 02/19/2024 (Spokane)
Obituary Preview: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard "Rick" Bourne Cullen, a man who brought love, laughter, and a little humor into the lives of those around him. He departed this world on February 19, 2024 at the age of 70, leaving behind cherished memories and a trail of smiles.
Rick was known for his sense of humor and his ability to find joy in the simplest of things. But he wasn't just a comedian – Rick had a heart of gold. He was always there to lend a helping hand or provide a shoulder to cry on. His kindness knew no bounds, and his empathy and compassion were felt by all who crossed his path. From helping a neighbor mow his field to joining the Peace Corps in Kenya to attending every school event for his very large family, Rick truly believed in making the world a better place and being present for those he loved.
Rick had a passion for simplicity in the way he lived, loved, and traveled. He enjoyed golfing as much as possible, where he spent time with his family and friends. He cherished the life he created in the house he built in Deer Park, where he lived simply and with purpose. In winter, he went to Yuma, where he spent the past 15 years laughing and golfing with his brother and sister-in-law, David and Faith Cullen, as well as many friends in Codgerville (as he jokingly referred to it).
Rick held his loved ones close to his heart. He was a devoted brother to David (Faith), Steve (Sue), and Peg, an incredible father to Jessica, Katie (Fritz), Ben, and Anna, a loving uncle to Kim, Brian, Brent, Justin, Ash, and Aynsley, a doting grandfather to Allie, Zach, Lucy, Grace, Ellie, Connor, Liam, and Evie, and a playful great grandfather to Reece, Briella, and Wesley. He treasured his family more than anything and always made sure to create lasting memories with them.
While we mourn the loss of our dear "Ricky", we choose to remember him with joy and laughter. May his kind spirit remind us to embrace life, find the humor in every situation, and cherish the relationships that truly matter.

June Rogers - June 27, 1932 - February 09, 2024

Departed: 02/09/2024 (Spokane)
Obituary Preview: Our Queen June Margaret Rogers
Sunrise, June 27, 1932, June was gifted to Charles and Kathleen Stevens. This took place in Richmond, in the county of Surrey, England. She survived WWII. During that time, she had a paper route. When the air raid sirens would go off, she would seek shelter. When the coast was clear she would come out and collect the bomb shrapnel for money. She was a warrior. Her sister, Janice, would say that she was a female version of “Indiana Jones”. Who else would join a rowing team and not even know how to swim. She had several jobs over in England as she grew. Her love of chocolate got her a job in a candy store. It also got her fired! June transitioned to America. Here she experienced the ups and downs that immigrants did in the 1950s. She lost two daughters in her lifetime, Jocelyn and Tricia who met her paradise. She had five other children, so a total of seven. No wonder she loved Andre Champagne!
She was our matriarch. Her presence was beautiful, strong, and as always, graceful.
She worked hard and went back to college several times earning her bachelor's degree in child development and human services, specializing in Elders. She also made the Dean’s List! She also worked hard to get her insurance licenses for all over the United States. She showed her family that you can live your dreams with hard work. Never doubt or make excuses.
Now her family and friends declare her time of Sunset, February 9, 2024, 6:20am.
She is finally home with her daughters, Jocelyn Phillips and Tricia Johnson, where they are basking in the “Glory of Our Heavenly Father, God”. We have final peace and joy in knowing that.
She is preceded to Glory by her parents- Charles Stevens and Kathleen Allen and daughters- Jocelyn Phillips and Tricia M. Johnson.
Our mother’s arms were as wide and large as her heart for her family. She is survived by her sister Janice (Rafael) Alfonzo Children- Jacqueline (James) Eckley, Roger (Lori) Stevens, JulieAnn Sleep, Scott (Robyn) Mays, and Anthony Johnson
Grandchildren- Matthew “Mellissa” Eckley, Valina Eckley, Dyaneshia Marie Sleep, Cecy Bowers, Rudolph “Brandy” Pyne, Donovan Cantin, Forrest “Amanda” Mays, Jennifer Phillips, Kirsten Botts, and Hannah “Kellen” Webb.
Great-grandchildren- RuthAnn, Devonier, John, DaeJohn, Nicole, Serene, Rylee, Hudson, Parker, Mason, Levi, Angelina, Ignacio, Ayerion, and Tyson.
Her nieces- Lisa Nightser, Brittany, Ciara and Carla Alfonzo; her nephew- Steven “Gina” Nightser.
A mother’s love doesn’t always come from a womb, but from the heart. June Margaret Rogers, you were that mother. God said “Good Job My Faithful Servant” for all the grace and love you shared with your family and extended family. Your memories are in all of us and will live forever.
Celebration of Life March 15th, 2024 2:30 PM at 1010 S Rockwood Blvd. All are welcome to attend and Celebrate the life of June.

Thanks to the V.A. Hospital for their wonderful care over the years. Services will be held at the Washington state Veterans Cemetery, February 15th at 11:15 am
Please visit Heritagefunerals.com to pay your respects. Thank you. A Favorite story of Richard and Bonnie's "The Pot" by Kevin Kling Back in the day when pots and pans could talk, which indeed they still do, there lived a man that went to the river everyday and filled two pots with water. One day one of the pots developed a small crack and as time went by the crack widened until by the time the man got home all the water had leaked out. Finally the pot turned to the man and said Please, everyday you take me to the river, everyday the water leaks out. Please replace me with another pot. And the man turned to the pot and said, look down the trail and the pot looked down the trail, and on the side of the trail with the pot that didn't have a crack, it was craggy and rocky but on the side of the path with the cracked pot, wildflowers grew. The man said Everyday you water those flowers, everyday you make my
difficult journey beautiful. I think I'll keep you.
Richard, you touched our lives by making this difficult journey more beautiful along the way.
We are better people for having known you.
Eternally grateful.
Enterally loved. The Kofmehl Family
