Richard Thomas Anglin - December 10, 1944 - April 16, 2024

Departed: 04/16/2024 (Peoria)
Obituary Preview: This world lost a wonderful person with the passing of my father, Richard “Dick” Thomas Anglin, 79, of Glendale, Arizona, on April 16, 2024.
Hard working. Dependable. Humble. A little bit goofy (just goofy enough). Honest. Wryly and wittily sarcastic. Loyal. Unpretentious.
I could go on and on with words that come to mind when I think of my dad, but the most prominent and important one is: GENEROUS.
Dick Anglin was generous with his time, generous with his spirit, generous with his worldly possessions.
He was such an amazing provider and “do-er” for our family and his community beyond that it is difficult to even think of what should be listed as his hobbies here. Sure, he was part of the Luke AFB bowling league back in the day and enjoyed watching Suns, Cardinals, or Wildcats games from time to time, but the indelible image is of him doing work to make things better. From fixing things around the house (his own or others’), yard work, shuttling me to activities as a kid, cooking (which was not a particular talent of his, but we appreciated the effort!) to volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul food bank, with the Knights of Columbus, Marriage Encounter or as a Lay Eucharistic Minister for his Parish, so much of my dad’s time was spent improving the lives of others or making them easier.
This core principle of service even extended into his professional life. He honorably completed over 24 years of active duty in the United States Air Force, receiving numerous accolades during his military career. And after retiring, he operated two Greyhound Bus Line franchise stations under Anglin Transportation, Inc., through which he served not only his customers with dignity and respect, but provided employment for many previously-incarcerated individuals and, by extension, opportunities for these people to make better futures for themselves.
He was born on December 10, 1944 to Delbert and Elizabeth Anglin in Faulkton, South Dakota, the tenth of thirteen children and the youngest boy.
His memory will forever be treasured by his surviving family: four of his siblings, his wife of nearly 55 years, Carol; his children Tom (and his wife Ericka), Mary Beth, and Michael; grandchildren Ashley Hoeft (and her husband Nicholas), Erick, Cal, Wren, and Iris; and great-grandchildren, Emmy, Zoe, and Max.
Thank you so much, Dad, for everything you did for those lucky enough to have known you and for being a shining example of personhood for me. With admiration and respect, Michael Anglin
Dick’s funeral mass will be at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Glendale at 10:30 on Thursday, May 9, 2024 with the committal ceremony and interment following at 12:15 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. His favorite color was red, so feel free to honor him by wearing clothing of that color.

William Maurice Ballance - November 11, 1943 - April 10, 2024

Departed: 04/10/2024 (Peoria)
Obituary Preview: William Maurice Ballance was born in Vandalia, IL on November 11, 1943 to his mother Anna and his minister father Maurice with their son John.
At the age of two, Bill's father Maurice passed, so Bill's Uncle Jessie helped Anna raise the boys. Uncle Jesse took them fishing, hunting, and taught them how to play baseball and checkers. Bill said Uncle Jesse was also a big tease. So we know where Bill got a lot of that from.
During this time, the family lived in a trailer on the grounds of a one-room schoolhouse where Anna taught Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Before he started high school, Anna met and married Harold Jones. Bill called Harold "Pop." He's referred to as "Grandpop Jones" in the family these days. After the marriage, the family settled on Pop's prosperous family farm in Kinmundy, IL. Kinmundy was a very small town, and Bill made a lot of friends there. And one of the great joys of his young life was rock 'n roll. Elvis Presley was one of the biggest things going when Bill was the perfect age for that revolution in music. Bill was even in a band with some of his friends that (we think) was called The Four Tones. He said, "We weren't very good, but we were loud."
Bill went to college at Eastern Illinois University and was also an athletic trainer there. That's where he met his roommate and lifelong best friend Marty Pattin. Marty would go on to play Major League Baseball and went to the World Series with the Kansas City Royals.
Bill also met his first wife Sandy at Eastern Illinois.
Shortly afterward, he and Sandy moved to Arizona in 1966, where Bill began his 30-year teaching career.
They welcomed their son Doug into the world in 1968, and then their daughter Shari in 1971.
Although the marriage didn't last, they remained friends for the rest of his life. Bill later met Linda Rasmussen in 1976. She was a grade schoolteacher and theater director. He auditioned for a role in her production of Alice in Wonderland as The King of Hearts. He got the role, and she'll tell you, "He's been my King of Hearts ever since."
In 1979, they had a daughter name Maria Rose.
Bill went on to live a full and wonderful life filled with love, laughter, music, baseball and basketball.
On April 10th, 2024, Bill passed in his favorite chair with Linda by his side.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years Linda, his children Doug (Doug's wife Resha), Shari, Maria (Maria's husband Jason), his grandchildren (Ryan, Lindsay, Alexa, Devon, Seth, Violet, Beatrix) and four great granddaughters (Lily, Lorelei, Sloan, Charlee).

Dick spent most of his professional career building homes in the Tucson and Phoenix area. He was very well known and respected in the land development/builder community. Finis Delano Corum Jr. - January 24, 1962 - April 09, 2024

Departed: 04/09/2024 (Peoria)
Obituary Preview: In the hearts and minds of those who knew him, Finis Corum, Jr. will forever be remembered as a beacon of light, born on January 24, 1962, and called to his eternal rest on April 9, 2024. Yet, in the face of sorrow, Finis chose not tears but celebration, expressing to his nephew Jordan his wish for a joyous gathering in his honor. In adherence to his fervent desire, his family shall assemble in unity, commemorating his life with laughter and fond remembrance, for he believed that in every ending, there lies the seed of a new beginning.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved daughter, Lindsey, affectionately known as Bird, her partner Ash and his precious grandchildren, Nate, Ellie, Devin, and Ashton. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Patricia, his dear sister, Stacey, and his nephews, Jarred and Jordan, alongside his niece, Tricia. Yet, even as we mourn his passing, we are reminded of those who preceded him in death: his son, Tyler, his father, Finis Sr., and his brother, Harold.
In the tapestry of his life, Finis was a master weaver of humor, his wit and charm captivating all who had the pleasure of his company. He believed himself to be the harbinger of mirth, though his mother, in her wisdom, gently reminded him that true wealth lies not in jest but in earnestness. His final musings, shared on social media, echoed the sentiments of a sage, imparting wisdom with a touch of levity.
With reverence and affection, he bestowed upon his mother the moniker of "The General," an homage to her strength and resilience. Yet, beneath his jovial exterior lay a heart of gold, as evidenced by his involvement with the Knights, where he selflessly served those in need, embodying the virtues of charity and compassion.
In his leisure, Finis found solace amidst the tranquility of nature, casting his line upon the waters of Lake Pleasant or embarking on exhilarating rides astride his beloved Harley Davidson. His passions were as boundless as the open road, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for life.
Though he may no longer walk among us, the echoes of his laughter and the warmth of his presence linger on, a timeless reminder of a life well-lived. May we draw comfort from the memories he left behind and take solace in the knowledge that his spirit shall endure for eternity. Farewell, Finis Corum, Jr., may you find eternal peace in the embrace of the heavens.

Some of his favorite things to do were: drive fast boats, be on the water, visit the cabin in Happy Jack, go out to eat with friends or just spend time with his friends and family. He loved his grandkids, to who he referred to each one jokingly as “George”. When the parents weren’t looking Papa loved to sneak the grandkids sweet treats! kind and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. He could fix or build anything.

Departed: 03/30/2024 (Peoria)
Obituary Preview: Our mom Sharon Diane Marks was born December 31, 1944, and passed away on March 30, 2024. She started out at a young age taking care of us young ones. By 1965 there were 5 of us and we were all taken under her wing. She began with taking care of her sisters and brother, then came her own two children. We were all close in age and grew up together with the best childhood anyone could ever imagine. We could drive her crazy and sometimes on purpose just so we could mess with her, but she loved us all so much.
Building forts, minibikes and driving dune cats in the backyard, closing the drapes for soap operas and Dark Shadows, swimming, and just plain ole playing and memories. Sharon is survived by her daughters Lisa Scarbrough and her husband Jack Scarbrough and Tammy Timmons. Her grandchildren, Katie Scarbrough, Ethan Scarbrough, and Mark Pylat, and her great granddaughters Serenity and Maci, and her sisters Karen Nees, Donna Ruppel, and her little brother Don Petty. These memories for us will never fade and she will always be in our hearts.

She attended the University of Arizona for one year and married Lloyd Acosta Lopez in May 1962. Mary worked as a secretary in the Tucson Chamber of Commerce before giving birth to her first child. She would have two more boys and identical twin girls. Mary and her husband hosted more than 45 annual Mission Beach summer vacations for their ever-growing family: originally 7 and now 32 and counting. She opened her home to all and hosted incredible holiday dinners that included only homemade food such as tamales and pumpkin bread. Mary’s perfect day was on the beach holding a baby, reading a novel before napping (and getting a sunburn), and walking the bayside in the evening with her husband. Her greatest joy above all else was her love of children and babies: caring, clothing, feeding, watching, listening, playing, teaching, and praying for her own and for all.
