When she was in her early teens, she was placed in the Cunningham Childrens home in Urbana, IL, where she stayed till completing high school at Urbana High School. De Wayne Richard Buckley - September 26, 1924 - March 21, 2024

Departed: 03/21/2024 (Casa Grande)
Obituary Preview: De Wayne Richard Buckley was born September 26, 1924, in Wayne, Nebraska, a small town in northeastern, Nebraska. De Wayne was a hardworking individual with a remarkable life story.
Despite facing challenges in life due to circumstances beyond his control, De Wayne displayed immense resilience and determination. His father left his family when De Wayne was 6 or 7 years old. His strength of character and sense of duty were evident even at a young age, a trait that stayed with him throughout his life. He never graduated high school as he had to go to work in order to help the family put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. In 1941, h answered the call to enlist in the Army to combat the enemies of his beloved county in World War II.
His experiences in the Army from 1943 to 1945, while serving in the 4th Infantry Division, the same division his son Dave would serve in during the Vietnam War, shaped his values and further honed his sense of duty and loyalty. He was one of those brave soldiers that landed on Normandy, June 6, 1944. His 4th Infantry division landed on Utah beach that day. He would always tell the story of looking at his watch as the seconds' ticked away unit 0600, and then it sounded like the world blew up as the battleships ignited their huge guns. After landing on the beach, he was proud of the fact that the radio in his vehicle was the only one working after all others were knocked out of commission by the salt water. Another story he recalled to grandson for a paper he was writing told of the time he and his squad were on a reconnaissance mission when they were caught behind enemy lines. He said they hid in the bushes as a German patrol unit passed by. He said they were so close he could have reached out and touched their boots as they passed. It was at that point in time he said he was glad he had learned the "Lord's Prayer". De Wayne was later wounded by shrapnel and suffered frostbite on both of his feet, which ended his oversees duty. His heroics during his time in the war zone earned him two purple hearts and a bronze star.
He met his wife Doris(Karney) during his recovery from his wounds. They would eventually marry on May 27, 1945 and start a family. The love and care he showed to his family were unparallel, evident in the bond he shared with his children-Dave, Donna, and Debbie. He was forever devoted to his wife Karney until her passing in 2003 after 58 years of marriage.
De Wayne's commitment to his family extended to his professional life in sales, where he sold everything from automobile parts, house paint and recreation vehicle parts, to name a few. He used to say if he believed in a particular product he could make a living selling it, no matter what it was.
For relaxation, De Wayne enjoyed following sports, primarily baseball, college football, golf and NASCAR. Later in retirement he also enjoyed watching college softball. Favorite teams included the New York Yankees in the 50's and 60's, the SF Giants after he moved the family to California in 1965. It was always the Nebraska Cornhuskers in college football, NASCAR drivers Richard Petty and Jeff Gordon, golfers Jack Nicholas, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and Tiger Woods and the women's softball team at Arizona State University.
De Wayne lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family. His passing on March 21, 2024 marked the end of an era, but his memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. His life story is the perseverance, integrity and unwavering commitment. He leaves behind 3 children; Dave, Donna, and Debbie, 3 grandchildren; Michael, Jennifer and Nicholas, and 6 great grandchildren; Jordan, Indigo, Kate, Claire, Nathan, and Allie.
Interment took place at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
Heritage Casa Grande Funeral Home and Whitehurst Sullivan Burns and Blair Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Departed: 03/18/2024 (Casa Grande)
Obituary Preview: Known to his loved ones as Mael, passed away on March 18th, 2024 in Casa Grande Arizona at the age of 29. He was born on April 14th, 1994, in Salem Oregon to Ishmael Smith and Imani Williams. Mael called both Oregon and Arizona his home. Mael was so caring, always loved to help others. Anything he could do to help he would. Mael loved listening to music, loved dancing, camping and fishing (even though he never caught a single fish). Outdoors was everything to him, He felt free and alive. His worries were gone. He was free! He loved to take the kids, so Shanea could rest. Shanea and Ishmael were married August 21st, 2022. Just a few months after meeting, they drove to Las Vegas and tied the knott! That was the best day in both of their lives. When Shanea first met Ishmael, his energy matched hers and that’s when she knew they were meant to be. Through their marriage they overcame obstacles that made them stronger. As long as they were together that’s all that mattered to him. He was her husband, she was his wife, and they lived for each other. Ishmael went through a lot of demons and battles that some wouldn’t be able to handle, but he fought as best he could. He always had a smile on his face and handled every situation to the best of his ability. He will forever be Shanea’s husband and she always his wife, His Buck! (A nickname he lovingly called her). His life was taken too soon, but now that his battle is over, he can rest peacefully. There are no words that can explain the hurt and void that Shanea has in her heart

Henry Allen Bendorf, age 84, of Lenexa, Kansas, and Casa Grande, Arizona, died while at his winter residence near Phoenix. His wife Kathryn (Kathy) and daughter Angela Bendorf Jamison, Wake Forest, North Carolina, were by his side during his peaceful passing. The day before, he tended his backyard cactus garden in anticipation of his family’s visit.

Hank cheered another win by his Kansas City Chiefs during a Super Bowl LVIII party hosted by him and Kathy. While his Iowa State Cyclones didn’t fare as well last season, he remained a longtime, loyal alumni and fan. He went back to his agriculture roots with North American Plant Breeders working in various management positions for 35+ years in the seed industry. In 2004, he retired from Forage Genetics International and continued as a part-time consultant for the company.
Hank engaged in his community as president of the Amana Jaycees and chair of the committee that founded the Amana Oktoberfest in 1965. During the event’s 50th year in 2015, he was honored to serve as grand marshal.
He was president of The Iowa Hotel Association, the Field Seed Institute of North America, the Alfalfa Council, the American Forage and Grassland Council, and the Forage and Grassland Foundation. He was director of the American Seed Trade Association and The Canadian Seed Trade Association, and one of the founders of the National Alfalfa and Forage Alliance. He received the merit certificate and medallion award from the American Forage and Grassland Council.
Hank took his family on many travel adventures from camping out West, to cruises in the Caribbean and excursions in Europe.
Hank will be remembered as a kind, fair man who always had a story to share.
He was predeceased by his parents and four siblings: Marrietta Moershel, Marvin (Benny) Bendorf, Elisabeth (Betty) Williams and William (Billy) Bendorf; his wife of 34 years Amber Slezak Bendorf, and his son, Brian Paul Bendorf, age 34.
