Who typically writes an obituary?

In most cases, the obituary is written by a family member or close friend of the deceased. Funeral homes or crematories may also offer assistance with writing and publishing the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the deceased person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, hobbies or interests, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral services, memorial contributions, or other relevant details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or online platform. Generally, it's recommended to keep it concise and focused on the most important information. Aim for around 100-200 words.

Can I write an obituary for someone who didn't want one?
