Rosella Arlene Spigelmyer - February 27, 1930 - April 24, 2022

Obituary Preview: Rosella Arlene Spigelmyer, 92, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Greenwood Center (formerly Ohesson Manor), Lewistown.
She was born Feb. 27, 1930, in Coalport, to the late Clair J. and Pauline (Thomas) Shawver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: first husband, Thomas L. Dove in 1950; second husband of 56 years, Kenneth W. Spigelmyer in 2007; her sister, Mabel Shawver Dalby; stepmother, Florence P. Shawver; and stepbrother, Paul S. Shawver.
Rosella graduated from DuBois High School, Class of 1947.
Rosella worked for several years at the Mifflin-Juniata Vo-Tech School and was later employed at Empire Kosher Poultry in Mifflintown for 23 years before retiring in 1993.
Rosella was a wonderful mother, loved and adored by her four surviving children:  Mary Dove Myers and husband, Vernon, of Hagerstown, Md., Kathie L. Treaster and (deceased) husband, Daniel, of Bellefonte, Beth Ann Palm and husband, Tracy, of Belcamp, Md., and Daniel A. Spigelmyer and wife, Teresa, of Lewistown.  Also surviving are: six grandchildren: Eric Daniel Treaster, Melanie Dove (Myers) Goldsborough-Hodge, Nathan Andrew Palm, Natalie Nadine Palm, Haley Marie (Spigelmyer) Dill, and Hannah Nadine Spigelmyer; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rosella cared deeply about her family, always putting them first. A resident of Glenwood for 56 years, she often served as the neighborhood babysitter.  In addition to caring for her family, she was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church where she was active in church activities, served as a Sunday School teacher and held various church and Sunday School offices. Upon closure of the Glenwood Church, Rosella became a highly active member of Grove Memorial United Methodist Church.
A private family funeral service is planned, with interment next to her husband, Kenneth W. Spigelmyer, at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Green Avenue, Lewistown.

Born June 23, 1929, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Deffenbaugh) Angney.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Richard L. “Dick” Miller; son, Thomas Miller; three brothers, Bob, Nick and Lou Angney; and five sisters, Arletta Whike, Dorothy Jones, Virginia Allen, Geraldine Steiner, and Mary Graham.
Lois is survived by: daughter, Linda L. Anderson, of Alfarata; three grandchildren, Scott B. Anderson, of Alfarata, with whom Lois resided, Tammy Lutes and husband, Greg, and Ryan Miller; three great-grandchildren, Evan Miller, and Kayla and Sierra Lutes; and a great-great-grandson, Nolan Samsel.
She was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1947.
Lois retired as a lead assembler from Fisher-Sanyo Audio in 1991.
She enjoyed gardening and bird watching.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Born September 19, 1969, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Vicky L. (Ramsey) Moore and Clarence R. Moore Jr., who survives.
In addition to her father, she is survived by; her longtime companion, Charles Rochelle III; a daughter, Natasha L. Gray and companion, Amber Menne, of Lewistown, and a son, Cody D. Gray and wife, Bridgett, of McVeytown; three grandchildren, Lilly, Layla, and Aubree; a sister, Lisa S. Stryker and husband, Brian, of Reedsville; and her children's father, Steven G. Gray, who has always remained such a close friend.
Carla was a 1987 graduate of Chief Logan High School. She received her associate degree from South Hills Business School.
She worked as a machine operator at Trinity Plastics Inc.
Carla enjoyed spending time outside working in the yard tending to her flower beds and gardening. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life; and her cats & dogs, who made her complete.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

She was born Dec. 3, 1935, in the Village of Lumber City, Mifflin County.
Preceding her in death were:  husband Charles E. “Ed” Hertzler, July 6, 1998; son, Randy D. Hertzler, Oct. 17, 2005; and daughter-in-law, Jana R. Hertzler.
Joyce is survived by: children, Gregory E. Hertzler and wife, Debbie, and Kimbra J. Hertzler Daubert, both of Burnham, and Kathy A. Aumiller and husband, Joe, of Milroy; sister, Debra Sheibley and husband, Jim, of New Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was Methodist by faith.
Joyce was a 1955 graduate of Burnham-Derry High School.  She always looked forward to attending monthly luncheons with her classmates.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Born Dec. 6, 1943, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late David H. Romig and Shirley (Cowder) Romig Albright.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, David Romig.
Gene is survived by: sons, Jeffrey L. Romig and wife, Deborah, of Columbus, Ind., and Timothy G. Romig, of New Albany, Ind.; five grandchildren, Bryce. Branden, Matthew, Benjamin and Emma Romig; and sister-in-law, Judy Romig, of Lewistown.
He attended Shrader United Methodist Church.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran during the Vietnam era, and later served in the U.S. Army.
Gene was a volunteer firefighter in Lockport, N.Y. for many years.
A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 US Highway 522 South, Lewistown, with Pastor Bill Romig officiating.  Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

Born May 13, 1942, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late James and Bernice (Brown) Soult.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. ‘Pete’ Kline, and a sister, Carol Soult.
She is survived by; a son, Thomas J. Kline and wife, Nancy, of Lewistown, and Tony Bernardi, of McVeytown, whom Pete and Judy raised as one of their own children; grandchildren, Derrick S. Haines and fiancée, Rachel Sweeney, of Lewistown, Megan Portlock and husband, Greg, of Fort Washington, MD, Michael H. Kline, of Lewistown; and a great-granddaughter on the way.
Judith was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
She was a proud graduate of Chief Logan High School, Class of 1960.
Judy often would clean the houses of Dr. Carter and Dr. Volpe; she cherished their friendship. Most of all she loved her life as a homemaker and being able to spend time with her family and friends. She also loved her animals.
A special thank you to the nurses and aides at Greenwood Village that were her second family that loved her like they were part of the family.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, PA 17009.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 21 S. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. John T. Harwood officiating.
Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery.

She is survived by; her husband, Paul H. Romig Sr., whom she married May 22, 1959; children, Paul H. Romig Jr., and Toni M. (Romig) Millisock; granddaughter, Yvonnie M. (Millisock) Wagner; two step-grandchildren, Michael A. Millisock, and Joseph R. Millisock; and seven great-grandchildren, Brook Millisock, Kayla Millisock, Alexis Millisock, Nathanial L. Wagner, Elizabeth M. Wagner, Alexia Bixler, and Jessica Bixler; and a sister, Carol (Ronald) Searer, of Lewistown.
Marcia enjoyed going to play bingo and loved to spend time with her sister Carol, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Earl R. Clouser, Sr. - March 13, 1943 - February 27, 2022

Obituary Preview: Earl R. Clouser Sr., 78, of Lewistown, passed away at 5 a.m., Sunday, February 27, 2022, at his home.
Born March 13, 1943, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late William O. and Mary E. “Betty” (Kreps) Clouser.
On October 22, 1966, he married his loving wife, Diana L. (Miller) Clouser, who survives.
Also surviving are: three children, Brenda L. (Troy) Fike, of East Waterford, E. Richard Clouser II, of Burnham, and Connie J. (Brent) Kennedy, of Seven Valleys; six grandchildren, Evan M. Ritter and fiancée, June Keller, Madalyn N. Clouser and her companion, Sam Dobbs, Clay E. Ritter and wife, Miranda, Alexis R. Ritter, Finn Kennedy, and Fallon Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Lincoln Dobbs, and Leah Ritter; and his brother, William C. Clouser Sr. and wife, Ruth.
He will be sadly missed by his dog and constant walking companion, Bailey.
Earl grew up in Vira United Methodist Church, where he attended with his family.
He was a 1963 graduate of Chief Logan High School.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam era.
Earl enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life.  In 1965, he harvested a large buck in Mifflin County while on leave from the Air Force.  The buck scored 142 5/8 and earned him a spot in the Game Commission’s state record book.  Later in life, he enjoyed cruising in his boat with family and friends on the Juniata River in search of large and small mouth bass.
He enjoyed winter snowmobiling adventures with friends and touring the scenic highways and byways of Pa. on his motorcycle during warm weather months.
Earl was an avid, lifelong fan of country music and watched HeeHaw and other programs showcasing country music artists nearly every Saturday night for years.
He was a hard worker and was employed part-time for many years as a bus driver for E.R. Rhodes and Son.  He worked for the American Viscose Corporation and later, Avtex Fibers.  When the plant closed, Earl chose to further his education and earned his certification as a CDL driver.  He then worked for Sam’s Backhoe and later, for Mike’s Excavating, from which he retired.
In recent years, Earl could be found at Boulevard BBQ, his son’s restaurant, where he helped as needed and would often pick up the mic on Karaoke Night to share a favorite country ballad.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Avenue, Burnham.
A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, March 3, at Lewistown Assembly of God Church, 160 Summit Drive, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Reverend Michael S. Bailey officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewistown.

Laura is survived by her husband, Terry, of Natrona Heights; her mother, Lois (Ulsh) Spigelmyer, of Lewistown; her son, Ross, and wife, Colleen; and grandsons, Samuel, and Elliott, of Wilmington DE; her son, Kyle, and wife Arla, of Waynesboro PA.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Spigelmyer.
Laura was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed crocheting and knitting, puzzles, gardening, her dog, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Laura attended Chief Logan High School in Lewistown and was a graduate of Grove City College.
She worked as the Youth Musical Director for the First United Methodist Church in Warren, PA as church secretary for the First United Methodist Church in Towanda, PA, and as the Big Buddy Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters in Towanda, PA.
Laura was blessed by the gift of a donor kidney in 1999 and in death was able to give the gift of organ donation through CORE in Pittsburgh, PA.
A receiving of friends will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Josh Randolph.

Tanner; great-grandchildren, Nikki Moore, Eric Castillo, Dallas and Hunter Miller, and Dash Tanner; and great-great-grandchildren, Kayden and Landon Markle.
She was a member of Parkview Church of the Brethren.
Services were private, with interment at Birch Hill Cemetery.

Russell E. Pennington - July 14, 1934 - February 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: Russell E. Pennington, of Burnham, also known as “Penny” by his fellow employees and “Pete” to family and friends, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at his home.
He was born in his home 87 years ago, July 14, 1934, to the late Robert Pennington and Rose DeArment.
Russell was also predeceased by his wife and love of his life, Celista F. (Murphy) Pennington, and children, Audy G. Pennington and Ida M. Pennington.
Russell is survived by: children, Roselee A. Harpster, Rick Pennington and wife, Theresia, Donna L. Pennington, and Barry L. Pennington, all of Burnham; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He retired from Standard Steel Corporation as a machinist with 35 years of service.  Russell was very knowledgeable and skilled in construction, masonry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and heavy machine operation.
As a tribute to his longtime residency and strong sense of community, the alley behind his house was named “Penny Lane”.
Family was most important to him.  He enjoyed the company of family and friends and was always there to lend a hand or a pretzel.  Russell had a heart of gold and made many contributions to worthy charities including veteran organizations and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  He will be forever cherished and missed.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Avenue, Burnham.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, at the Funeral Home, with Rev. John Walters officiating.
Interment will take place at Vira Methodist Cemetery, Lewistown.

Robert Glenn Hile - January 12, 1930 - February 09, 2022

Born Jan. 12, 1930, in Burnham, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Alice Mae (Mathieson) Hile.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ross Peters.
Robert is survived by: siblings, Daisy Peters, of Middleburg, Sylvia Harshbarger and husband, Ross, of Belleville, and William Hile and wife, Joyce, of Spring Mills; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was a graduate of Burnham High School, Class of 1948.
Robert was an Army veteran who served with the 189th Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean conflict.
He was employed by many local contractors as a brick layer.
Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved tending his vegetable garden and fruit trees.  He had a great respect for nature.  He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Potters Mills and a member of American Legion Post 287, Milroy, and the Milroy Fire Company, where he also bowled on their team.
A viewing will be held from Noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Avenue, Burnham, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Rev. Sam Reese officiating.
Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 287, Milroy.
Memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to a hospice charity of one’s choice.

Born on April 3, 1956, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late John Harbst, and Glenda (Randolph) Harbst, who survives.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sherise Pelizzari, and a nephew, Brett Pelizzari.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by; companion, Susan Spigelmyer, of McClure; a brother, Dwain Harbst and companion, Terri Kline, of Altoona; nephews, Nathan Harbst and wife, Angel, of Warriors Mark, Trevor Harbst and wife, Laura, of Tyrone; nieces, Adeena Hollen and husband, Jeremy, of Tyrone, and Gina Horn and husband, Paul, of State College.
Martin was a Chief Logan High School graduate, Class of 1976, and a graduate of Williamsport Area Community College where he earned his associate's degree.
He retired from Penske Truck Leasing in Reading where he worked as a diesel mechanic.
Martin enjoyed going hunting with his nephew, Nathan. Special memories of a cruise with his nephew, Trevor, and taking his niece, Adeena to a Pittsburgh Steeler game.
He liked fishing and four-wheeling, riding his motorcycle with his best girl, Susan, and going camping at Raystown for many years. Mart was a true Pittsburgh Steelers Fan, Penn State fan, and a devoted Harley rider, "he loved to ride". His Uncle Larry was very special to him.
A receiving of friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, a celebration of life to follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. Thomas Morningstar officiating.
As requested by the family, masks will be required for everyone entering the funeral home.
The family would like to thank all his doctors, nurses, and specialists for the care given to Mart during his final journey with us on earth.

Audy was a United States Marine Corps Veteran.
He was an excellent marksman. Audy enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, poker, and spending time with family.

Burt was a member of the Samuel’s Church.
He was a 1967 graduate of West Snyder High School and a graduate of Williamsport Community College.
Burt retired from GE as the maintenance manager.
He enjoyed working and maintaining his farm and lending a helping hand to others.

Phyllis was a very giving person and helped raise funds for both Arthritis and Cancer. She belonged to the Penn Highlands Band Boosters and volunteered in multiple organizations wherever her children were involved. Phyllis especially enjoyed the holidays and took pride in decorating her home. She enjoyed being outdoors tending to the flowers and caring for the birds. She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies & Nascar fan, her favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. She loved her large family and enjoyed spending time with everyone, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Private interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.

Obituary Preview: With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Anna Mary Kline, our loving and devoted grandmother, mother, wife and friend to all whose lives she touched.  On December 1, 2021, she left us peacefully with her family by her side at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born in Mifflin County, November 15, 1936, to the late Arthur and Mary (Hummel) Snook, Anna Mary was the eldest of 22 children.
Anna’s passing ends a 67-year marriage reunion with her surviving husband and forever soulmate, George E. Kline, of McClure.  They were married on July 18, 1954.
Anna Mary was the beloved mother of: son, Kenneth (Cindy) Kline, of McClure, his children, Shane Kline, (late) Brett Kline, Randy (Jamie) Kline, and Robin (Timothy) Grove; daughter, Dottie (Mike) Bollinger, of Florida, their children, Casey (Rinda) Bollinger, Jerry (Jessica) Bollinger, Vincent (Jesica) Bollinger; daughter, Barb (Carl) Hopple, of Beavertown, their children, Brian (Sonya) Brower, Branden (Karrah) Brower, Mindy (Chad) Kreamer, Kelly (Dan) Renninger, and Emily (Brian) Billett, and daughter, Connie (late, Paul) Burge, of Middleburg, their children, Tamra Mitchell, Scott Burge, Angela (Greg) Hockenberry, and Sonya Engstron.  Anna was also the proud great-grandmother of 34 and great-great-grandmother of 12.  Anna is also survived by sisters, Betty Bailey, Martha Bonson, Grace Hunter, Jane Rittenhouse, Ellen Singleton, Carol Sercu, Gloria Matsko, Edna Bates, Jessie Davis, and Kathryn Allen, and brothers, Allen, Charles, Christopher and Lee Snook.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur and Mary; stepmother, Arla (Weader) Snook; grandson, Brett Kline; brothers, Russell, Arthur Jr., Donald, Samuel, Patrick and Glenn Snook; sister, Virginia Roe; and son-in-law, Paul Burge Jr.
In Anna’s early years, she was employed at Kinney’s Shoe Factory, Lewistown Hospital and Kirby’s Manufacturing.  Anna and her husband spent many years hauling the Amish and built many strong family bonds within the Amish community.  Anna and her husband spent many long days in their butcher shop with their family by their side.  Anna Mary will always be remembered for her artistic design of doilies that will be cherished forever in her family’s heart.
Most of all, she loved her family and friends and instilled good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well.  She will be dearly missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at Samuel’s Church, 480 Samuel’s Church Road, McClure, followed by a celebration of Anna Mary’s life, with Mr. Duane Rhodes officiating.
Graveside service and interment will take place at Samuel’s Church Cemetery.  A meal and time of fellowship will follow at Decatur Cookhouse.

Born Aug. 1, 1931, in Burnham, he was the son of the late John and Effie (Stong) McCardle.
Also preceding him in death was his wife, Olive (Fleming) McCardle.
Samuel is survived by: sons, Matthew McCardle and wife, Cathy, of Pittsburgh, and Michael McCardle and wife, Kathy, of Lewisberry; three grandchildren, Austin McCardle and wife, Liesel, Bart McCardle and wife, Brittany, and Hannah Rohrs and husband, Tyson; great-grandchildren, Talon, Selah, and Callie McCardle, and a new great-granddaughter, Hazel Rohrs, to be born in February; and his sister, Nancy McVicker, of Lewistown.
He retired from the U.S. Army on Jan. 31, 1969, at the rank of Sergeant First Class with over 21 years of service and was a veteran of three war conflicts; WWII, Korean War and the Vietnam War.  He served as a MP in Alaska, Armored Division in Germany and patrolled the DMZ in Korea.  At the time of his retirement, Samuel was assigned to the 809th Engineer Battalion as a utility foreman.  After retirement, Sam worked for HighWay Heat Systems and for the Wick Building in Youngstown, Ohio.
Sam enjoyed spending time with his family and could often be heard yelling at his TV while watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.  He had a deep love and compassion for dogs, particularly his faithful companion, Hogan.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at Mt. Rock Cemetery, Oakland Avenue, Lewistown, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.  Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

Fay was employed for 15 years at Hartley’s Chips in Lewistown, then worked 20 years at Beavertown Weaving Mill before retiring in 1988.
She loved her family and her little dog, Tabby, and her cat, Abby.

Hassinger and wife, Beth. She was very proud of her six grandchildren: Morgan Hassinger, Cameron Hassinger, Jordan Treaster, Dyson Treaster, Alexander Malinoski, Valerie Malinoski.
Siblings are Mrs. Buddy (Helen) Krepps, of Belleville, Mrs. Larry (Carol) Treaster, of Lewistown, Keith Bigelow and wife, (Nancy), of Reedsville, Lynn Bigelow and wife, (Lucy), of Milroy, Mrs. Ralph (Sharon) Fisher, of Lewistown, and Bonnie Bigelow, of Belleville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Bigelow, who passed away in 2019, and by a childhood brother, Gary David.
Faith was a Kishacoquillas High School graduate, Class of 1962. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Siglerville, and a member of the Mifflin County Garden Club and the District V GCFP. She helped with meals on wheels and was active in her church.
Faith was previously employed at Ball Corporation (Unimark Plastics) for 13 years and was the East Kish Lutheran Parish Church secretary for 10 years.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, and having meals and picnics for her family and friends at the cabin. Faith was loved by all who knew her.

Torrey was a talented musician and loved music his entire life. Beyond writing songs on his guitar, he played the drums, spectacularly, in the band Etcetera. He could often be heard singing songs about his beloved dog, Laylee, to her. Torrey was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and proud member of "Steeler Nation".  He was a kind soul with a big heart and will be sadly missed by his friends, family and most of all his loyal Laylee. “This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
