Jennifer M. Niese-Roberts - March 22, 1980 - March 20, 2022

Departed: 03/20/2022 (Columbus Grove)
Obituary Preview: Jennifer M. Niese-Roberts
HEBRON, KY – Jennifer M. Niese-Roberts, 41, of Hebron, KY and formerly of Glandorf died 12:22 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Edgewood, KY.  She was born March 22, 1980 to Mike and Judy Niese, who survive in Glandorf.  On October 23, 2004, she married the love of her life and best friend, Tony Roberts, and they lived in Hebron, KY with their dear Schnoodle, Storm.
She is survived by her sister, Lori of Upper Arlington; brothers, Matt (Nikki) of Ooltewah, TN and Dan (Lindsey) of Brecksville; a nephew Connor; niece Gabriella of Upper Arlington; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ott and Sally Schroeder; paternal grandparents, Willie and Marie Niese; uncle, Butch Schroeder and cousin, Nick Schroeder.
Jenny was a 1998 graduate of OGHS.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Akron in 2001 and an MBA.  She formerly worked for SCI Solutions and attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Burlington, KY.
Jenny had a creative heart that came through in everything that she did from her beautiful paintings to her pride in decorating her home that she shared with Tony.  She loved to play games and always brought a new game to every family gathering for all to enjoy.  She loved to dote on her niece and nephew, and hear all about their latest activities.  Though the last couple of years were difficult with her being ill or the pandemic creating challenges, Jenny’s biggest joy was spending time with her best friend, Tony.  She would challenge Tony to create new recipes that would appeal to her palette (and would be sure to share with the family the yummy things he would make for her.)  They would go on short trips when she was well or tackle home improvement projects together.  Though they didn’t have as much time together as they should have had, whenever you saw them, you knew they were meant to be together and lived every moment that they could together.
Jenny had a kind heart and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Her funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Father Tony Fortman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Thursday and again from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, LLC, Columbus Grove.

Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and the Ottawa American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.  She enjoyed being a member of the Door Yard Garden Club, Ottawa and was the founder of Bloomin’ Crazy Garden Club.
Her family's love of horses was passed onto her husband who raced Standardbred racehorses, and her children, who enjoyed riding and showing horses in 4-H.  Amy liked garage sales, antiques, and occasionally rescuing roadside treasurers.  She loved arts and crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a wonderful grandmother who taught her granddaughter many songs and did all kinds of crafts with her.
Aside from her family, her other passion was gardening, which she had a real talent for.  Her gardens were absolutely beautiful, and always expanding.  Not only were they bursting with colorful flowers, but they also featured goldfish ponds, birdhouses, statues, birdfeeders, and many unique items that added visual interest.  These gardens would attract hummingbirds and butterflies, as well as many types of birds and other wildlife.  Amy was very pleased that she passed her love of gardening on to both of her children.
If Amy could give us some words to live by, she would tell us to be kind to others, stick up for people when you can, have fun, and to love and be supportive of one another.
The funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2020 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Rick Friebel officiating.  Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa.  Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.  The family will have a celebration of life later next summer.  The arrangements are under the direction of HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Columbus Grove.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to share the news of a loved one's passing with friends, family, and community. They provide an opportunity to honor and celebrate the person's life, and offer a sense of closure for those who are grieving.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family or close friends of the deceased write the obituary. In some cases, a funeral home or crematorium may assist with writing the obituary or provide a template for the family to fill out.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral services, memorial donations, or other ways to pay tribute.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication and the family's wishes. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, but still provide enough information to give readers a sense of who the person was.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a great way to personalize the notice and help readers connect with the person who has passed away.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper or online platform?

The process for submitting an obituary varies depending on the publication or platform. Typically, you will need to contact the publication directly or use their online submission form to provide the necessary information and payment.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies widely depending on the publication, location, and length of the notice. Some newspapers may charge by the word or line, while others may have a flat fee for a standard-length obituary.

In most cases, it is not possible to make changes to an obituary once it has been published. It's essential to proofread carefully before submitting the notice to ensure accuracy and avoid errors.

What if I want to keep the obituary private?

If you prefer not to share the obituary publicly, you can opt for a private or limited-circulation notice. This might be shared only with close friends and family or published in a local community newsletter.

Can I include humor or anecdotes in an obituary?

Absolutely! An obituary is a celebration of the person's life, so feel free to include stories, quotes, or humorous anecdotes that capture their personality and spirit.

How do I handle sensitive or difficult information in an obituary?

When dealing with complex family relationships or multiple marriages, focus on accuracy and respectfulness. Be clear about relationships without being overly complicated or confusing.

Are there any specific regulations or guidelines for writing an obituary?

Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines require funeral homes and crematories to provide accurate price information in their advertising, including online obituaries. Additionally, some states have laws regulating what can be included in an obituary.

How do I ensure that my loved one's story is preserved over time?

Beyond publishing an obituary, consider creating a scrapbook, photo album, or oral history project that captures your loved one's life story. These can become treasured family heirlooms for generations to come.
