Germaine Sandra Davis - April 25, 1965 - November 17, 2023

Departed: 11/17/2023 (White Plains)
Obituary Preview: Germaine Sandra Davis was born to the late Navalyn and Raymond Davis Sr. She was the eldest of four children from this union. Germaine transitioned peacefully, November 17, 2023, surrounded with love by her family.
Germaine was around 11 years old when she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the family’s church home, First Baptist Church of Marshall Heights, Washington, DC. In her adult years she rededicated her faith and joined Soteria Christian Center under the leadership of Pastors Eric and Lisa Avery, Waldorf, MD. She briefly served on the Cup of Blessing Ministry doing what she did best, serving delicious tastings.
She began her early education in the DC public school system, then later transferred to the PG public school system, graduating in 1983 from Largo High School.
After high school, she attended Winston Salem State University where she met her ex-husband and from this union their handsome son Rodney Brown, Jr. was born.
Germaine had an extensive 20 plus year career as a Professional Travel Agent. This career afforded her many opportunities to experience her love for travel, visiting many exotic places worldwide. Especially, traveling and creating fond memories with her best friend Tanya “Big T” of fun and hilarious times together. These two seemed inseparable although they fought like sisters. They spent years doing the things that best friends do. Whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas or in their case anywhere they went.
But nothing could fulfill her passion, love and dream of the culinary arts that was deeply imbedded in her as a child. You could always find her in the kitchen cutting up fresh potatoes making her favorite after school snack of French fries or whipping up homemade dishes that her siblings were the bearer of taste testing.
She later graduated in 2002, from Strafford University School of Culinary Arts and earned a degree in Advanced Culinary Arts Professional. Her creativity of flavorful dishes and a secret BBQ sauce that should have been sold in stores, led her to open Maines Catering, serving family and friends and eventually expanding to local Day Care Centers and Wedding venues throughout the DMV.
In between some of these passions, she gave birth to a beautiful daughter Gernelle Hall, just the right addition to complete her family. A proud mother, nurturer and giver. Rodney Jr. (RJ) and Gernelle (Nelle) was the joy of her life. She absolutely enjoyed spending quality time, laughing, serving and fixing favorite dishes for her family of three like she had a family of ten. She also enjoyed throwing down at family cookouts or Sunday dinner as the Chef at the Davis household where she delighted herself appeasing hungry tummies. She and our mother could feed the multitude out of 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.
Her smile could light up the world. Her lifelong dream was traveling the world in an RV. A little-known fact was she was an avid researcher, if you needed to know something, you could depend on her research abilities to get the job done.
After Germaine’s illness she had to retire and she slowed down a bit, but she did not let that stop her from picking up the hobby of knitting and crocheting many beautiful creations that brought her a sense of peace.
Germaine leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving children Rodney Jr. (RJ), Gernelle (Nelle). Siblings Mona (Rob), Ray, Temp, many nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Karean Donald Cornelius Wellington - April 30, 1992 - October 11, 2023

Departed: 10/11/2023 (White Plains)
Obituary Preview: Karean Donald Cornelius Wellington, a ray of light who made friends everywhere and embraced life as the ultimate adventure, left this world too soon, passing away on Wednesday October 11th, 2023, at the tender age of 31.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at Temple of Praise, 700 Southern Ave. SE, Washington, D.C. A viewing will begin at 10 a.m., with services to follow at 11 a.m. Pastor Ramona Moore will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 8401
Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Md. Born on April 30, 1992, to Kanita Hughes and Michael Wellington, Karean was a handsome baby with chubby cheeks, dimples and a tendency to drool excessively, leading his mom to quip that “he had a hole in his lip.” He was raised in the Forest Heights/Glassmanor area of Prince George’s County, Md., and was considered the neighborhood superstar in Eastover and the surrounding
areas. A naturally bright and quick-witted child, he went with his mother to her science class at nursing school. As the adults in the room struggled with the subject of anatomy, Karean picked it up
immediately.
He was raised in church at the Temple of Praise, where all the older ladies adored him. He used his artistic talents to create T-shirts for those at church and for church members’ family reunions. Karean graduated from Oxon Hill High School. He loved his friends more than anything, was
tirelessly loyal and was always looking out for those around him. In high school, he even transferred out of the Talented and Gifted (TAG) program in order to stay at the side of his best friend (much to the chagrin of his mother). Karean went on to attend the University of the District of Columbia. As an adult, he resided in
Camp Springs, Md.
Karean never met a stranger and effortlessly made new friends everywhere he went. He hated being alone and was constantly running into people he knew. In every corner of the country, from Myrtle Beach to Las Vegas, he’d find his tribe and was always up for a party. In fact, he was usually the life of the party, and there was never a dull moment with him. Whenever someone felt down, he had a way of lifting their spirits, even if that meant making up an impromptu song to lighten the mood. A proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Karean was a man who stood up for others and
was always quick to fight for those he loved. Those around him knew him as a courageous protector and that they were safe by his side. Even his elders respected him.
He was truly fearless, and he’d try anything once. Even as a beginner, whether on motorcycles or jet skis, he’d just hop on and ride. For Karean, every day was a new adventure. He had the remarkable ability to make any ordinary situation extraordinary. No angel, he was armed with an attitude. Still, at his core, his heart was pure gold. More than
anything, he believed in treating people with kindness. He often gave money to hungry strangers.
Karean was always naturally talented with hair and makeup. Even when he was a teenager, he was hired by the neighbors to do their children’s hair. His eclectic and colorful style made him the fashion icon of his community, and he dreamed of being a celebrity stylist.
He took pride in being a hair stylist and fashion adviser and loved nothing more than to make others feel beautiful. With the assistance of his mother, he transformed the lower level of their home into a lavish salon called The Tokyo Experience. In addition to working as a hair stylist and fashion adviser, he also served as an administrative assistant, supporting his mother in their family business, and as a medication technician.
Karean was preceded in death by his grandfather Emmet Wellington; his great-grandmother Juanita Moore; his uncle and namesake, Donald Cornelius; his great-uncle Frank Pace; his second cousins Larry Dickey and KeKe Wellington, who loved to spoil him and whom he followed like a shadow. He was cherished by so many and is survived by his mother, Kanita Hughes; bonus dad, Victor Hughes; father, Michael Wellington; his grandmother, Martha “Nana” Wellington, with whom he was very close and who spoiled him; his sister, Empress Wellington; his aunties Kim Reid, Naima
Angel Parks and LeTisha Dyer; his uncle’s Tony Wellington and Emmet Wellington Jr.; his beloved cousins Japera Blakeney, Johnathon Dickey (Lil JJ), Philmeca Donato, Somayoa Blakeney, and Camari and Tanisha Wellington, who were raised with him like siblings. Partners in crime Camari Blakeney and Micah Staples; his godmother, Towanda Young; his god sisters and godbrother, Charlotte “Sha-Sha,” TaTrina, and Charles Young; his godfather, Antonio “Rock” Green; and his friends Francis Fogg and Allen Chase who were his roll dogs thick as thieves, Javon Young, Tikeya Savage, Shardae Moore, Britanny Mugg, Torien Young, Monique “Aunt Mo” Slader and Timothy Slader. Pallbearers will be Karean’s cousins, Braneia Dickey and Nathan Dyer, his longtime best friend
Allen Chase, dear friends Francis Fogg and Timothy Slader, and godfather, Antonio “Rock” Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Shardae Moore, Britanny Mugg, Torien Young and Monique “Aunt
Mo” Slader. Karean’s family extends its gratitude to the loving doctors and nurses at the National Cancer
Institute NIH, as well as Dr. Priebat at Washington Hospital Center. Throughout Karean’s battle with cancer, his mother never left his side, nor did many of his loyal friends, cousins and other family members. Throughout the last years of his life, though he often
faced devastating prognoses, he remained strong and walked out of the hospitals many times.
Despite his sickness, he continued to be a steadfast support system for his friends and family. We’ll forever remember his zest for life and the bright, radiant light he brought into the lives of
those around him. While his life was cut tragically short by cancer, he packed a lot of adventures into 31 years.

Jordan Bianca Coates - January 29, 2002 - September 09, 2023

Departed: 09/09/2023 (White Plains)
Obituary Preview: Jordan's Story:
Jordan Bianca Coates was a beloved individual who was born on January 29, 2002, in Washington, DC. Her life was tragically cut short on September 9, 2023, at Washington Hospital Center. Throughout her life, Jordan has made a significant impact on those around her.
She received her education in the DC school system. She graduated from Roosevelt Senior High School in June 2020. After completing her education, Jordan began her working career at Giant Food in 2021. However, in 2022 she started working at McDonald's and later transitioned to Washington Hospital Center. While at Washington Hospital, Jordan saw an opportunity to excel in her passion for "Food and Nutrition." Through her hard work, dedication, and commitment, she took charge of their nutritional service program. Her commitment and hard work earned her the respect and admiration of her co-workers highlighting her success in this role. Sports also played a significant role in Jordan's life with soccer and football being her favorite sports. During her time at Wheatley Educational campus in middle school, she excelled as a goalie for the soccer team. Her skills were so impressive the opposing teams coach would always question her age and request her birth certificate. Undeterred, Jrdan continued to play until she entered high school.
At Roosevelt Senior High School Jordan's social skills blossomed and she developed a passion for varsity football. Despite her desire to try out for the team, the coaches advised her to pursue basketball instead. Jordan listened to the advice and became an exceptional basketball player. While playing Jordan earned the nickname "Jai Baller." Her talent on the court caught the attention of multiple community colleges offering scholarships. However, Jordan had other plans and decided to stay home and focus on her career.
Even after graduating for high school, Jordan's love for football remained strong. She was a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders. Jordan would attend every home game at her father's side. She believed that his presence influenced the team success and would be devastated when they lost. In her frustration, she once wrote a letter to the team's owner Daniel Snyder expressing her disappointment. However, she remained hopeful for a brighter future for the team.
Jordan's loyalty extended beyond sports. She cherished her family, including her father David Coates Sr., mother Alisa Coates, her siblings Ramon Davis (Demetrai) and David Coates Jr, (Shaun). Her nephews Alexander and Jonathon who brought her much joy. She also had a close-knit circle of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will miss her infectious laughter and outgoing spirit.
In memory of Jordan Bianca Coates, may she rest in peace and her legacy of love and loyalty continue to inspire those who knew her.
