She loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren, She loved to craft making dream catcher, ear rings, necklaces and watch her favorite shows, shopping and walking and playing with her dogs. She worked in the Library for Cherokee Nation for quite some time and always made others feel welcomed when they came in. She will be missed dearly by all she leaves behind. Obituary Preview: Laurence Earl Kortright, Jr. (Sonny) of Tahequah, Oklahoma passed away on April 9, 2022, at his home at the age of 56. Laurence was born on November 4, 1965, in Guthrie, Oklahoma the son of Laurence Kortright, Sr and Judy (Jentry) Heil. Sonny was very resourceful and could do just about anything. He was an all-around good family man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was tagged as the "Jack of all trades" by everyone who knew him, simply because he would create a masterpiece out of anything, whether he was welding or painting. He loved to do custom paint jobs on vehicles and was really good at it when he owned his business Rockin K's Customs here in Tahlequah. He was working for Doc's Mobile Welding & Fabrication LLC in Muskogee at the time of his passing. He loved his animals, having a good time and making others smile. Sonny had a smile that was contagious and will never be forgotten. He will be missed by everyone he leaves behind. He was preceded in death by his father; Laurence Earl Kortright, Sr. He is survived by a loving family which includes his mother; Judy Heil and husband Larry, children; Summer Kortright, Koty Sanders and wife Chelsea Brown, and Steven Carter, grandchildren; Robert Dale Degase, Truman Kortright and Everlee Kortright, siblings; Lynda Faught and family, Robert Allon and family, Jim Cathey and family, as well as numerous family and great friends that he leaves behind.

His Uncle, Perry Kirk and special uncle Gabriel Herrera. Buddha is survived by his mother Sonya and Danny Herrera, father Jason Sabaque, siblings, Allyvia and Larry Nofire, David, Lola, Jason Jr, Jeweliana, Sofia, Taylor, and Cooper. His grandparents Andrew and Sue Valdez and Bill and Viola Herrera. His nieces, Summer, Lilianna, and Penelope and nephew Baby David, Special cousins Elijah, Blaze, Lyncoln, and Cainan and many more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who all loved him dearly. He never wanted anyone to be sad and hated when we would cry. His uplifting and loving spirit will live on in the memories held by us all. Buddha will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

She loved going to church and was a founding member of St. Basil's Episcopal Church in Tahlequah. Her father was involved in the sculpting of Mt. Rushmore. Audrey touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert Pullen. She is survived by her sons Robert Christopher Pullen and Bruce Edward Pullen, both of Tahlequah.

Jeff was born October 14, 1953, the son of Bill and Ida (Coon) Adair at home in Mulberry Hollow. Jeff was an outdoorsman at heart. Some may have even known him as "Stone" short for Stonewall, which was a nickname he got by his childhood baseball coach. He loved being outdoors whether he was golfing, enjoying fast-pitch softball or taking a scenic drive with his wife, Susan. His family was most important to him especially being the best "Duda" he could to his grandsons. He never missed his grandchildren's athletic events and was always their biggest fan. He enjoyed showing them how to be a hard worker at everything they did and always put in 110%. He was one of a kind. Jeff was part of the Sequoyah High School Alumni and played/hosted the Alumni scholarship golf tournament for the school, as well him and Susan were on the Sequoyah High Parent Association, and he was a member of Mulberry Cemetery committee. There was never a day he wasn't out working hard to take care of his family and provide. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; Bill and Ida, and his siblings; Gladys Adair, Johnny Adair, Elizabeth Adair, Jess Adair, Sara Adair, Eugene Adair, Nancy Adair, Newton Bolo Adair. He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife of the home; Susan (Girty) Adair, children; Janell Adair, Rebecca Adair and companion Jonathan Smith, grandchildren; Miles Adair, Jakobe Adair, and Jairus Adair all of Tahlequah, brother; Farrell Adair and wife Sherry of Tulsa, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members he leaves behind.

Obituary Preview: Carolyn Sue Castillo the daughter of Dennis and Louise (Towie) Pritchett was born October 28, 1955, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on March 27, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 66 years and 5 months. Carol had a fiery spirit and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed spending time with her girls, grandchildren and great-grandbabies. She would often say that she was the luckiest Ma in the world to have all these beautiful babies. Her favorite times were the girls day "Sneak Offs." She spent the whole day with her girls, and (every now and then one of those grandsons would tag along) doing the things that she loved. Anytime she was coming to OKC, she would say "Let's go Eat!" She loved eating out with the entire family, enjoyed antiquing, playing bingo and going to the casino, shopping (we always had to go to Ross and $1 Jewelry Store). She was an artist who loved to draw, inspired by nature and the outdoors. She loved going on drives just to look at the beauty of God's creation- flowers, landscapes, and the trees. She absolutely loved the trees and would often say "if you listen, they will talk to you." Carol touched so many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to ask that anyone attending her funeral to please wear bright, beautiful colors to honor her favorite colors- the rainbow. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Rianna Louise Castillo; her granddaughter Ysabella Castillo and her sister Sharon Scraper. She is survived by a loving family which includes her little fur baby Whathahey, her husband Ralph Castillo of Newalla; her daughters Maria Long and husband Billie of Newalla, Marisa Castillo of Edmond and Tamara Castillo and husband Troy Garcia of Ponca City; her brothers Darrell Wilson, Sammy Wilson and wife Phyllis, and Clayton Pritchett all of Tahlequah; her sisters Denise Drywater and husband Darren, Jolene Pritchett Vann and husband Kevin, Ladonna Garcia and husband Jose and Karen Pritchett all of Tahlequah; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild on the way. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.

Obituary Preview: On a beautiful sunny Saturday Wanda D. "Nudie" Harless was born in Moody, OK, to HR & Jane(Chaudoin) Vann. She went to school at Moodys through the 8th grade, then went on to Bagley in Tahlequah. That is where she met and married Lloyd "Red' Harless. They raised three children, Lloyd Dean, Sandra Long, and Joe Dale. They owned and operated the Townhouse Cafeteria for over 20 years. They fed high school and college students, it was some of the best chicken fried steaks around. You still hear former students talk of the great food at great prices. When they sold the cafeteria, she began working at Sequoyah High School cafeteria. Students bragged that she always put them first. She made sure that they had a cake and made them feel special. When she retired from Sequoyah High School in 1995, she worked a few years with Cherokee Nation Adult Education. She traveled with her sister Wilma from coast to coast. They went everyplace always together, you hardly ever saw one without the other. Wanda loved to watch all kinds of sports. While at Sequoyah High School, she was given a lifetime pass to all the ballgames. She missed very few football games on TV. She watched OU football and Dallas Cowboys, even knew all of their names and numbers. She loved to fish and plant a garden. Wanda was always making sure everyone got enough to eat. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Those that she will see again in Heaven are her husband Lloyd "Red" Harless, mother and father HR and Jane (Chaudoin) Vann, brother Watie Vann. She is survived by her three children and sister. Those left to miss her are: Children Dean(Kitty) Harless of Tahlequah, Sandra (George) Long of Tahlequah, and Joe Dale (Dawn) Harless of Georgia. Sister Wilma Vann of Tahlequah, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Leona Mae Cochran - August 10, 1959 - March 26, 2022

Obituary Preview: Leona Mae Cochran left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on March 25, 2022 at the age of 62. Leona was born August 10, 1959 to George and Lizzie (Cochran) Teehee. She had met her Best Friend and True Love Dean Jackson and together they combined their little families and began to parent 5 of their children and many of their grandchildren whom they both loved unconditionally. Leona was a fluent Cherokee speaker and encouraged all her children and grandchildren to learn and keep passing it down cause "our Cherokee language is dying out". She had been a very dedicated health provider for many years and she had worked as a nurse aid. And her love and devotion for the elderly is what pushed her to want to help more and she later became a CMA in order to be able to help even more people. Leona was definitely a people person, and she wasn't ever scared to speak up and stand up for what she loved and believed in. She loved her mother and her siblings to no end that's for sure, and when any of them needed her she was always there for them. Leona's home, no matter where she might have lived, was always opened to anyone that came to her and needed a place to rest, or to just get away and get their life together. When anyone would come to her home, they always left telling her that her home was always so comfortable and welcoming and she always made them feel like her home was what a home should feel like. Leona was Ma, Mom, Momma, Goosey, or Momma Goose, Leah, Lee, Aunt Leah, and Aunty and Nan or Nana. Although she had many names she went by and answered to she was always the same. Leona was the purest best-friend that any child could have as a Mother, she never seen the faults in her children and would not allow anyone else to place judgement on any of her loved ones, right or wrong she was there for anyone cause she knew how bad life can be for us at times and she understood that everyone goes thru different things. She would push her children and grandchildren to never give up and to always pray, even when things are good take time to pray and say "Thank You Lord for allowing me to enjoy the things you lay before me". When she was able, she loved to do beadwork and take old clothes and blankets and make the most beautiful quilts. She also enjoyed spending her days with her Love Dean Jackson and together they would chase around the grandkids and play games with them, watch movies with them and help with homework and studies. Leona was a huge part of her grandkids lives and her teachings and love will forever be embedded in their hearts. She cherished every moment she got to spend with Family. Leona was a True Warrior of God and she believed without a doubt in her heart that God would see her through. Leona is preceded in death by her parents: George and Lizzie Teehee, her grandparents: Roger and Nancy Cochran, 2 sisters: (infant) Sara Jane Teehee, and Jennie Wolfe, step-brother Nathaniel Teehee, aunts: Joanne Smith, Sally Terrapin Uncles: Charlie Cochran, Andy Cochran, Tom Cochran and J.D. Cochran, Nephews: Jonathan Handle and Joshua Teehee. She is survived by her Loving children: Amber Teehee of Arizona, Guy Grimmett Jr. of Stilwell, Julia Grimmett of Oklahoma City, Trenton Jackson of Tahlequah, Colton Jackson of Tahlequah, and Valerie James of Oklahoma City. 11 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, and one great grandson. Leona is also survived by her siblings whom she loved dearly 2 sisters Bernice (Bernie) Powell and Alene (Laura) Teehee both of Stilwell, 4 brothers Dennis (Deah) Teehee, George Teehee Jr, Kenneth (Ken) Teehee, and Henry Gene (Moot) Teehee all of Stilwell. As well as many nieces, nephews, and Cousins.

Sam was a believer and worshipped at the South College Church of Christ in Tahlequah Oklahoma. He married the love of this life, Elizabeth Pauline Mitchell on September 17, 1957. Sam worked for many successful years at Lake Region Electric up until his retirement. He was a lifelong resident of the Hulbert community. Sam enjoyed cattle ranching, welding, and in his younger days hunting and fishing. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Sam will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Sam is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Lila (Downing) Howe, Wife, Elizabeth Howe, son, Zane Howe, and nephew Steve Howe. Sam is survived by his grandson, Cheyan Howe and wife Keanna of Hulbert, OK; granddaughter, Taylor Howe of Muskogee, OK; great-grandkids, Braylynn Hammond and Knox Phillips of Muskogee, OK; siblings, Juanita Burch of Ohio, Joanne Smith of Hulbert, OK, Ed Howe and wife Florence of Porter, OK, Paul Howe and wife Connie of Hulbert, OK, along with other family friends and loved ones. Deloris was born in Caney, Oklahoma and was raised in the Tailholt community. She was born one of eight siblings on January 20, 1941, the daughter of Brooks R. and Arla A. (Huntley) Anders. Deloris was one of the brightest and sweetest people you could have met. stern, yet had a beautiful energy that was contagious. As many would say, "to know her was to love her." Deloris earned a Bachelor of Education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. She was a Teacher for 27 years and loved every bit of it. She taught fifth grade elementary and enjoyed shaping the minds of all the children that came and went from her classes. She even treated them as if they were her very own. She wanted nothing more but to prepare those children for the real world and teach them valuable life lessons. When she wasn't teaching, you could find her reading a good book, doing wood work, gardening (when the Oklahoma weather allowed her), sewing, and loved to watch any TV show or movie that involved a mystery. She was all around a gentle loving soul who would do anything for anyone. She loved her grandchildren very much and her family meant so much to her. She may have been a strict momma, but she sure enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren every chance she got. She will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; Brooks and Arla, as well as five sisters. She is survived by a loving family which includes her daughter; Elizabeth Oosahwe and husband Andy, sons; Edward Thomas Bean, jr. and Timothy Brooks Bean, two sisters; Carolyn Trammell and Bertie Montgomery, her grandchildren; Christen, Brandon, Glenn, Shelly, Stephanie, John, and 10 great grandchildren. As well as numerous family and friends that she leaves behind.

Though he was a very shy person, he also could be very ornery. Obituary Preview: Howard Jack Dobbins was born December 6, 1929 to Deed and Cleo Dobbins. He passed from this life March 6, 2022. "Jack" as he was known by all that knew him, graduated from Coweta High School in 1948. He continued his education at Northeastern State College in Tahlequah where he met the love of his life Zula Belle Linder who was a cheerleader and was well known for her beautiful singing voice. He played basketball in college and often commented of the many great mentors and friends he met while attending Northeastern. After graduating from Northeastern he obtained a Masters degree from Oklahoma State University and Doctorate Degree from the University of Tulsa. He and Zula Belle were blessed with three sons, Mike, Mark and Jack, Jr. He began his career as an educator and coach at Haskell, Oklahoma and Shidler, Oklahoma before he and Zula Belle returned to teach and coach at Tahlequah High School. He loved teaching biology and talked fondly of his memories of students he taught and coached during that time. In 1959 he became a professor and coach at Northeastern State where he remained for the next 35 years. He took the utmost pride in teaching and considered himself an educator first. During his tenure he served in the capacity of basketball coach, athletic director, and head of the Health and Physical Education Department. During his coaching career he amassed 311 victories, the most in Redmen history. Charles Paulk, a member of the 1968 team is the only player in Northeastern history to be drafted in the first round of the NBA when chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks. He cherished the relationships he developed with his students, players and co-workers throughout the years. Jack and Zula Belle hosted receptions in their home each Northeastern Homecoming for many years in which numerous friends, students and past players returned and celebrated. During his lifetime Jack was named Northeastern's Teacher of year, Alumnus of the Year, NAIA Basketball Coach of the Year, and Tahlequah's Citizen of the year. He was named a Hall-Of-Fame member of six state and national bodies. In 1994 The H. Jack Dobbins Fieldhouse at NSU was named in his honor. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Trustee. He was a loving husband, father and "Poppie" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack was predeceased by Zula Belle Dobbins his beloved wife of 49 years, parents Deed and Cleo Dobbins and 7 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his sons Mike and wife Terrye, Mark and wife Val, and Jack and wife Julie. Grandchildren Luke and wife Kaycee, Brynlee Rolland and husband Chad, Stephanie Gray and husband Joe, Sydney Day and husband Sean, Britt Dobbins and fiance Kayla McElrath, Marlee Myracle and husband Andrew and Heather Knott. Great grandchildren Kael, Duke and Boston Dobbins, Cole, Case and Levi (deceased) Rolland, Joseph Gray, Jr. and Rylee Myracle. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Jack Dobbins Fieldhouse located on the Northeastern State University campus in Tahlequah. Visitation will be held on March 10, 2022 from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Hart Funeral home in Tahlequah. Memorial donations may be made to the Northeastern State University Athletic Department or First Christian Church of Tahlequah.

She was born on December 24, 1999, the daughter of Michael and Denise (McIntosh) Davis. Rosie was a very tender hearted, loving, outgoing and caring person who could light up a room with her beautiful smile. Her quirky sense of humor could make all her friends and family smile anytime she was around. Rose was an empath and was constantly making sure others were okay and always wanted to try and help in any way possible to make them feel better, whether it be making them laugh or just being a shoulder they could lean on. Anyone you ask, would tell you that she was the life of the party and there was never a dull moment when she was around. She was a nurturer at heart and always wanted to make her friends, family and clients at work feel loved and supported at all times, she never wanted anyone to feel alone in the world. She loved listening to music, especially rock and she loved art of all types as if it spoke to her. Her favorite colors were, red and pink together, baby blue and green. As always, she lived up to her name, because a red rosebud signifies beauty and purity which is how many people could describe her "beautiful and pure." Rose graduated from Cave Springs High School in May of 2019, the top of her class as Valedictorian. During high school, she took classes part time at NSU, while working in health care as a caregiver in home health. She was also a member of the Cave Springs High School Lady Hornets Basketball team. Rosie loved attending church camp and she was baptized in Christ at TBA church camp in Cookson, OK. When she wasn't working, she loved being around her friends, watching and reading anime especially comic books and watching one of her favorite anime shows; Dragon Ball. She loved getting to go to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina when going on vacation, she loved animals, enjoyed spending time with her nephews whom she loved dearly, she also loved watching her favorite show; Back to the Future. There is nothing more in this world that Rosie wanted, but to see others happy and doing what she could to make a difference in the world. She touched many lives over the years, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her father; Michael Davis, paternal grandparents; Pat and Huston Davis, and maternal grandpa; Kenny McIntosh. She is survived by a loving family which includes her mother; Denise Davis, sister; Violet Davis-Ellis and husband Chris, maternal grandmother; Davetta McIntosh, nephews; Michael and Ryan. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends she leaves behind.
