Tommy Lee Escamilla - May 03, 1961 - April 26, 2022

Obituary Preview: Thomas L. Escamilla (60) of Monahans, Texas was welcomed into the kingdom of his heavenly Father on April 26th, 2022, in Odessa, Texas.
Tommy was born May 3rd, 1961, in Monahans, Texas to Mario and Amalia Escamilla. He was a graduate of Monahans High School, Class of 1979 where he served as a student athletic trainer. He also served as a student athletic trainer for Sul-Ross University Class of 1984. He was married to Penny Ebensberger on September 22nd, 1984.
Tommy was employed by XTO (Formally Bass Enterprises). He was a Lobo band sponsor for ten years. One of his fondest band memories is when the Lobos were in the playoffs because he was able to dress in his green and white Santa Claus suit. Tommy served on the Ward County hospital board and Credit Union board. In 2011, Tommy and Penny were awarded the Ward County Youth Leadership award. Tommy was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and would erect the Christmas Nativity Scene.
Paul bears will be the Knights of Columbus.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents: Mario and Amalia Escamilla, brother Alex Escamilla, father-in-law Phil Ebensberger, brother-in-law Michael Ebensberger, and niece Kristina Fonseca.
Tommy is survived by his wife Penny Escamilla (38 years), mother-in-law Jenny Ebensberger, brothers Mario Escamilla (wife Debbie) of Colorado City, Jesus “Caboose” Escamilla of Monahans, sister-in-law Loureds Escamilla, grandsons Jaiden and Jordan Jackson-Escamilla of Monahans, Aunt and Uncles Mable Rubalcava, Press and Amelia Escamilla, Joe and Fidela Borrego, Raul and Carmen Florez, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family would like to thank everyone who supported him during his long illness.

Obituary Preview: Rayna Kim Stallcup Kennedy, a long-time resident of Monahans, Texas, died on April 21, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas from complications following surgery. Rayna was born on January 24, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas.
Rayna was an LVN and had been the school para-professional at Sudderth Elementary School for the Monahans-Wickett-Pyote Independent School District, as well as serving as a school nurse for the Midland Independent School District. She was a dedicated fan of Oklahoma University Sooner football, so much so that she named her puppy Baker Mayfield. She will be remembered and celebrated for her terrific smile, her irrepressible honesty, her infectious laugh, her wry and mischievous sense of humor, and her love for her students and her family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Franklin Stallcup, brother Gregory Micheal Stallcup, sister Kerry Leeann Stallcup, her paternal grandparents, Frank and Margaret Stallcup of Odessa, Texas, and her maternal grandparents, Johnny, and Marie Means of Oklahoma.
She is survived by her son, Conner Ray Kennedy of Lubbock, Texas and her mother, Nancy Lee Means Stallcup of Newton, Texas.

Martin is survived by his loving mother, Maria Olivas, brothers and sisters, Manuel Olivas, Marta Olivas, Fredrico Olivas, Celsa Tucker, Rig Olivas, Donna Olivas, Sammy Olivas, Maria Olivas, twenty-two nephews and nieces, and fifteen great nephews and nieces.
Visitation for Martin will be from 9:00am-6:00pm on Thursday April 21,2022, at Harkey Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at Harkey Funeral home after visitation beginning at 7:00 p.m. on April 21, 2022. Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Monahans at 2:00pm on Friday, April 22, 2022, with Father Joe officiating. Burial will follow at Tamarisk Cemetery.

Sarah married the love of her life Dwain Weisent on November 13,1959 in Pecos, Texas. After ten years of marriage Sarah and Dwain moved to the town, they called home Wickett, Texas. She was a great cook for her friends and family, and when she wasn’t cooking, she would relax by crocheting.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harlin and Ada Collins, son Keith Weisent and brothers Jimmy and Tommy Collins.
She is survived by her husband Dwain Weisent, daughter Ellen Bond, brothers Don and Johnny Collins, sister Patsy Lucas, granddaughter Sarah Mays, and great grandson Mario Cerda.
Pallbearers will be Steve Lucas, Kenny Laviers, Mark Bruster, Mitch Weisent, Felipe Palano, and John Hayes.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Harkey Funeral Home. Her service will be on Monday, April 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Donnie Rollie officiating. Burial will follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

Virginia was born in Lamesa, Texas to parents Ysabel and Marciana Lopez on September 15, 1939.
Virginia was a long-time resident of Monahans, Texas. For several years, she worked for the MWPISD school district in the cafeteria at the Tatom Elementary School. She was an avid sports fan who followed all her nieces and nephews from t-ball to high school sports. Virginia and her husband were huge supporters of the Monahans Loboes athletics. Not to mention, Virginia was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Some of her hobbies include gardening and crocheting but her favorite was sewing. For many years she made alteration for several people. Virginia loved to cook and bake for her family and was extremely famous for her chocolate chip cookies.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jacinto Vasquez and her parents Ysabel and Marciana Lopez, also her siblings Flabio Lopez, Pauline Lopez, Fred Lopez, Lucia Garcia, Felipe Lopez, Rudy Lopez, and Gloria Garcia.
Virginia is survived by her siblings Dora Toscano of Lamesa, Texas, Teresa Rodriguez of Monahans, Texas, Ysabel Lopez Jr of Lubbock, Texas, and Johnny and wife Margaret Lopez of Midland, Texas, along with her two nephews that she considered her own sons, Big Ed and wife Dora Lopez and their daughters Mari, Juli and Estrella, and Gerald Lopez and daughter Madasyn. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, great-nephews, and Godchildren.

Gloria is preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Alfred Carrasco; Sisters, Amparo Gomez Yanez, Paula Gomez Alvarez, Mercedes Gomez Yanez, Esilia Gomez Nunez; and Brother, Jose Angel Gomez.
Gloria is survived by Son, Alfred Carrasco, Jr.; Daughters, Debbie Ann Vasquez, and Guadalupe Castelo; Brother, Cruz Jose Gomez; eight grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Tubieron cuatro hijos. Despues se fueron a vivir a Presidio, TX donde encontro trabajo en Vies Roustabout service y se retiro de ayi. Despues de su retiro, le gustaba juntar cosas que estaban descompuestas para arreglarlas y  venderlas. Anatalio era un hombre feliz que le gustaba vivir su vida un dia a la vez. Le gustaba mucho divertirse, era el alma de las fiestas. Le gustaba mucho bailar y cantar. Era un hombre que le gustaba ayudar a todo el mundo. Sus hijos y nietos eran lo mas precioso para el. Siempre se preocupaba por darles  todo lo que el podia.
Anatalio era un esposo, padre, hermano,  abuelo, hijo, tio,y amigo muy querido por todos. Siempre vivira en el corazon de todos que los conocieron.

Obituary Preview: Jewel (Jo) Allison passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the age of 95. Jewel was born on May 4, 1926, in Maddock, North Dakota to Roland Ellefson and Alice Berg.
Jewel married her navy sailor L.B. Allison in Tillamaook, Oregon on August 16,1944. Jewel loved traveling to foreign countries and touring most of Europe, Africa, riding camels, viewing the pyramids, and exploring castles. During the 62 years they were together.
The time consumed at their home in Wickett was going to high school athletics both home and away. She also enjoyed gardening, oil painting, participating in chili cook offs, and senior swimming at the pool with the ladies, and reading reading reading.
She is preceded in death by her husband L.B. Allison, two sisters Loraine, (Honey) Donna and two daughters Donna Louise, and Jo Alice. Jewel is survived by daughter Christine, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren who will always refer to her as “Granny.”
The family would like to give a special thanks to Focused Care of Monahans, Midland Memorial Hospital, and hospice for making her last days as comfortable as possible.
Jewel will have a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday March 9,2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Harkey funeral home. Her services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on 1500 south Main Street in Monahans on Thursday, March 10,2022 at 2:00p.m. With her burial to precede.

Marion Margaret Henderson - March 16, 1940 - March 07, 2022

Obituary Preview: Marion Henderson passed peacefully in the early morning of March 7 in Coral Springs, Florida. Marion and her twin sister (Heather-deceased) were born in Ft. Worth, Texas to Amelia and Edward Henderson of Royalty, Texas in 1940. Marion and Heather were athletic, well-liked, and graduated from Grandfalls-Royalty High School in 1958. The twins were inseparable until later in life and even lived together in Georgetown in Washington, D.C. during their first jobs after college.  Marion’s independent spirit emerged, and she served on the staff of Representative Ed Steiger of New Mexico in the Congress before moving on to the Federal Aviation Administration. She left the FAA to work first with Eastern Airlines and then with her future husband, Alaska Airlines founder, Charles F. Willis. Marion and Charlie pursued their passion for aviation and business in the 1970s and 1980s in Washington, D.C., in Ghana-West Africa, in Hawaii, and then settled into retirement in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in the mid-1980s.
“Retirement” included Marion going to law school for a JD and Charlie heading to the Department of Commerce in the George H.W. Bush Administration. Marion and Charlie amicably divorced, and Marion spent the remainder of her years amid good neighbors, the beauty of Ft. Lauderdale, her back yard boat dock facing the canal, and her well-loved cats. Her neighbors fondly recall Marion’s daily habit of walking 10,000 steps and her open arms-and house-for any stray cat or dog needing care or just affection.
Marion earned her Associate of Arts degree from Christian College in Columbia, Missouri in 1960. She completed her undergraduate and graduate work in Economics at the University of Texas at Austin in1962. Marion earned her JD from the University of Miami Law School and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1990 where she practiced law and retired in good standing.  Marion is survived by her brother Robert Henderson, four nieces and nephews, 13 grand-nieces and nephews, and dozens of cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Union Church in Grandfalls, Texas on Saturday April 30, 2022, followed by a family gathering at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery where she will be interred with her sister Heather.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers please make a contribution to your local animal shelter in honor of Marion’s abiding love for cats and dogs in need.

Sandra Kay Watts - August 14, 1948 - March 06, 2022

Obituary Preview: Sandra ‘Kay’ Keese Watts, 73, passed peacefully over to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, March 6, 2022, in Odessa, Texas, the wife of former Monahans Police Chief Dave Watts, was born in Monahans on August 14, 1948, to Ollie and Grace Keese.
She was the tenth child of thirteen children born to the family. Her family moved to Monahans during the 1940’s oil boom and returned to Junction in the 1950’s after her dad became caretaker of a large ranch outside of Junction, Texas. Kay loved the wide-open spaces and freedom at the ranch. She attended school in Junction, participating in the band drum line, and other school activities organizations, graduating in 1966. Kay returned to Monahans shortly after graduation, married and was blessed with her son Joe. After her first marriage ended, she met ‘the love of her life’ Dave Watts. They married and were blessed with heir son Coty. She went to work at the First National Bank and remained there until she and Dave retired and moved to their favorite place, Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Kay was a beautiful lady, a genuine person, her heart was all about her family, whom she dearly loved. She was always kind and thoughtful towards others. Loving to cook, she would generously share her wonderfully delicious homemade bread and cinnamon rolls with her family and friends. She was also very artistic and an avid quilter. She enjoyed numerous road trips with friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents: Grace and Ollie Keese, husband Dave Watts, four brothers and seven sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Joe Smith of Odessa, Texas and Coty Watts, wife, Sirena of Midland, Texas, granddaughter, Christina Watts of Brady, Texas and grandsons Baylor Watts, Landon Perkins, and Kayden Perkins of Midland, Texas, brother Tommy Keese, and numerous nieces and nephews. Special love and thanks to Christina’s mother Erin of Brady, Texas and Niece Tangie Levrets of Flint, Texas, and all her “Special Sisters.”
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist church, at 300 West E Street, Monahans, Texas with Pastor Jeppie Wilson officiating.

Daniel was born on August 9, 1986, in Monahans, Texas to Maria Olga Venegas-Cerda. He was raised and grew up in Monahans.
As a teenager he would spend his summers in the family ranch in Mexico with his grandparents. There he would learn to ride horses and be his grandpas right hand man on upkeeping the ranch.
His hobbies even from a young age were cars. Putting together toy model cars when he was a child to rebuilding cars in full as he got older. He was a passionate skateboarder and very fearless on his stunts. He enjoyed listening to music and being a DJ at various events. Drawing was a big part of his life he was very artistic and loved doing graffiti through the notebooks. A letter from his wife Jamie- “When I met Daniel, it was like a fairytale he walked into my job we laid eyes on each other, and it was the true love at that very moment. We talked for hours like we had known each other forever. And had been best friends ever since we never had a dull moment always full of love and laughter. He was the best father and did everything he could for our family. I love you so much Dani you are my rock, my world, and my everything. Until we meet again your wife Jamie”
He is survived by his wife, Jamie Venegas; Children (Adrian Ordonez, Sunny Barriga, Aiden Temple, Wyatt Johnson, Abigail Johnson); Mother (Maria Olga Venegas-Cerda); Stepfather (Abraham Cerda) Sisters (Priscilla Rodriguez, Erica Quiroz); Brother In Laws (Ruben Rodriguez, Oscar Quiroz); Nieces & Nephews (Ivy Adamson, RJ Rodriguez, Hallie Adamson, Gabriel Venegas, Angela Adamson, Anthony Rodriguez, Omar Quiroz, Samuel Quiroz, Katherine Rodriguez, Serina Quiroz, Serenity Quiroz); Aunts & Uncles (Thencha & Jorge Nieto, Maria Cruz Najar, Hilda & Jorge Vazquez, Elida & Alonso Rodriguez, Hector & Amparo Venegas).

Minga was born in Pecos, Tx to Valentine Leyva Corrales and Irene Machuca Navarrette on February 24, 1952.
Minga married the love of her life Norberto Zavala Espino on September 9, 1972 in Presidio, Tx. They were married 39 wonderful years. Minga worked many years as a home health provider and a presser at Lobo Cleaners, she dedicated her life to her family. Once retired you would find her baking, making tamales, or outside watering her plants and visiting with her great friends Alejandra Sepulveda and Blanca Galindo. If Minga wasn’t home you would find her at the casino. She was a member of the Catholic Church where she served as a Crusillista.
Minga is preceded in death by her husband Norberto Espino, father Valentine Corrales, sister Lydia Melchor, son in laws Augustine Ramirez and Andres Andrade, grandbaby Ramirez and her beloved aunt Tomasa Cabuezuela.
Minga is survived by her mother Irene Navarrette, children Dolores Andrade of Odessa, Ernesto Espino of Monahans, Rosario Rodriguez (Mario) of Odessa, Christina Hernandez (Servando) of Monahans, Oscar Espino of Odessa, and Prisma Veronica Espino of Monahans.  12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her fur-grandpup Lily Ann Espino. Sisters Beatrice, Aida, Elva, Valentina, Cynthia, Maribel, and Eva. One brother Miguel and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was born on September 13, 1926 in Fort Davis, Texas to Nicholas and Anastacia.  He grew up in Fort Davis, moved around to different towns then finally settled in Monahans in 1954
He was retired, had been self-employed for many years in Masonry Construction Industry.
His daily top priority was that there was always food on the table to eat.
His hobbies always started with praying for everyone, doing family time, talking to the dogs, watching the kids play sports, watching the news to see what happening in the world, interacting with family, conversing and asking questions, drinking coffee, snacking on sweets, cooking his favorite meals specially making his own tortillas, making multiple trips to the grocery store, gardening vegetables, barbequing outside, playing dominos, going to gamble at the Casino in Hobbs and scratching off tickets, wishing that he would hit the Lotto.
His pride and joy was his wife (always spoiling her with coffee in bed, etc), grandchildren (Leslie, Bridgett, Ryan, Scott, Shelbi), great grandchildren (Kyle, Kevin, Matthew & Madi), and great-great grandson (Grayson) and his dogs (Zack and Brownie).  He assisted helping raise them all in one way or other.  They highly respected, loved and called him “Papo”, Father figure in their lives.  He played the role of being a real grandfather/great grandfather by the book, always being there for them no matter what, spending quality time with them and guiding them as best that he could but still spoiling them with what they wanted.  He encouraged higher level education for all of them so they wouldn’t struggle in life financially, have better life than his.  He stressed importance of working hard and saving money.  We were blessed for sure, he was one of a kind, not ever selfish with his time, always made time for all.  He left many memorable memories that will be cherished forever.  His daily presence will be greatly missed by all.
Robert is preceded in death by Sons-Danny and Roger, Dad-Nicholas, Mom-Anastacia, Sisters-Elisa, Leo, Betty, Kina, Julie and brother-Nick, and great grandson Josh.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Dolores (Lola) and daughter, MaryLou.
He will also be remembered and dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 17 at Harkey Funeral Home.
His memorial service was on Friday, February 18:  Rosary at 2pm, Mass 3pm followed by burial at Monahans Cemetery.

Alline's Christian faith and love of the Lord was second to none. Her prayers were powerful and constant.
Alline is preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.

She was born on November 23, 1944, in Brownwood, Texas to Alvis Abernathy and Lea Eva Abernathy. The family moved to Grandfalls, Texas in 1955.
Janie was happily married to Ronnie Brandenburg for 62 years. They raised five children together along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, animals, and critters. There was never a quite moment or an empty seat around the table at “Aunt Janie’s!” Janie was always up for an adventure, as was apparent in traipsing all the way from Grandfalls to Alaska with all five kids in tow. Ronnie’s job took the couple to many different places, and wherever they lived Janie made new friends and was always looking for ways to help and serve others. She worked at various jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was working on a shrimp boat in Matagorda Bay.
Her generous spirit and dependable character blessed the lives of countless people. That legacy will live on in those who will miss her the most – her friends, her children, her friends, her children, and especially her 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom she was extremely proud.
Janie is preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister, Patricia Burkhalter.
She is survived by her husband Ronnie Brandenburg, sons, Ronald Brandenburg (Tammy), Gaynor Brandenburg (Beth), Randy Brandenburg (Laura), daughters Rosemary Hardin and Brandi Moore (Robert), and sister Nancy Christopher of Monahans.
Her services will be held on Saturday February 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Monahans, Texas with her burial to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Son-in-law, Robert Moore will be officiating the service.
