He was a member of the United States Navy serving during the Viet-Nam era, a member of the American Legion in Arlington and Past Commander, enjoyed fixing clocks, gardening, listening to all kinds of music and loved animals. James is survived by his wife Lorraine Brown of Arlington. Daughters Jennifer Brown of Woodford, VT, Danielle Mandy (Victor) of Mariah, NY and Kerry Brown of West Rutland, VT, brothers Gary Brown (Candy) of Danby, VT and Michael Brown of Morrisville, Vt, his sister Mary Beth Cooly (Robert) of Maryland, 6 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Funeral services for James will be held Tuesday December 12, 2023 at 2pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Arlington Chapel Historic Route 7A Arlington, VT. Obituary Preview: Janet Simpson Wilson, first child of William and Ethelda Croft Lindsey, age 93 , died in Bennington, Vermont Monday, December 4, 2023 . She graduated from Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. High School in 1947 and from St. Lawrence University at Canton, N.Y. in 1951 with a B.S. Degree. In July 1951 she began her career with New York Telephone (now Verizon) in New York, N.Y. retiring as District Manager in 1980.

Mrs. Wilson lived all of her life in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. until she and her husband, Harold A. Simpson, moved to their new home in Sunderland, Vermont in 1980. She immediately became very active in local activities and organizations and maintained that interest and devotion of time until her death. As a member of the Federated Church of East Arlington, Vermont she served on many committees, in many capacities. Other organizations given much time as a member or as a board member include The Arlington Chorale, Arlington Garden Club, Federated Garden Clubs of Vermont, New England Region of the National Garden Clubs, a docent for 12 years at Hildene the Arlington Public Health Nursing Service, Pioneers of New York and New England Telephone, Arlington Food Shelf, Townscape, Manchester Historical Society, The DAR (Bennington Chapter), a trustee at the Bennington Museum, and the American Association of University Women. Janet liked to entertain in her home, enjoyed completing crypto quotes, crossword puzzles, playing card games, especially Bridge. She also liked music, especially vocal groups and over the years sang alto in many such groups plus church choirs since she was 7 years old. There was a time when Janet wrote poetry and won one contest with her entry. It was a joy for Janet to remember special events in peoples’ lives with appropriate cards or notes. For her 50th college reunion in 2001, Janet provided an autobiographical update on her life. Two excerpts from that are “I’ve made no special mark in history. Hopefully, I have made small dents contributing in some way so others would have a better time of it. I’ve had 20 years of retirement living in beautiful southwestern Vermont and interacting in one of the most supportive communities anyone could find.”

Mrs. Wilson’s first husband, Harold A. Simpson, died May 4, 19978. She married Ward Wells Wilson on December 9, 2001; he died February 7, 2021. Survivors are two brothers-in-law, Dominick Carelli of Bonita Springs, Fl. and Norris Hayford of Lakeland, Fl, 8 nieces, 7 nephews, 28 grand nieces and nephews and 3 step-children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Donald W. Lindsey of Port Angeles, WA. on June 17, 2001; her sister Lois L. Carelli of Bonita Springs, Fl. on September 2, 2013; her sister Barbara L. Hayford of Lakeland, Fl. on October 14, 2015.

Obituary Preview: Alfred Paul McAllister of Arlington, VT, died peacefully at the Vermont Veterans’ Home on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023. Born in Stamford, CT on October 24th, 1931, son of Alfred E. McAllister and Irene Nickerson, he attended St. Johns Grammer School and later graduated in 1950 from All Hallows High School, a Catholic boys’ high school in Bronx, New York near Yankee Stadium. Alfred was a life-long New York Yankees fan. A Korean war veteran, Alfred served in the U.S. Navy from January 1952 to December 1955. He served aboard the USS Randall (APA-224), a Haskell-class attack transport ship. Following his U.S. Navy separation, Alfred moved to Wilmington, VT where he operated several successful hospitality ventures. He also worked at Green Mountain Park for 25 years. He was an active member of numerous community service organizations, a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima in Wilmington, VT as well as the former St. Margaret Mary Church in Arlington, VT. His wife for 37 years, Kathleen Kelley McAllister predeceased Alfred in February of 2019. Services for Alfred will be private.

Born on November 2, 1966 in Derby Ct. to Anthony J. Mauri Sr. and Kathleen (Weiler) Mauri.

Tony was a free spirit who lived life on the wild side. He loved his friends and family with all his heart. He was a talented mechanic making his living working for several municipalities in both Florida, and Tennessee.

In his time off, he loved spending time riding his Harley with his wife, Dad, and friends. He was a great cook who enjoyed cooking, grilling, and smoking. Preparing meals for all to enjoy. He had a beautiful garden that he grew fresh vegetables that he used to make sauces, salsas, as well as canning vegetables to give away and to enjoy throughout the year. He also made bread for communion at the New Life United Methodist Church of Knoxville of which he had been a member since his move to Tennessee.

Tony is survived by his wife Denna Mauri of Knoxville TN. He was also the loving father to his daughter Amanda (Mauri) Cole her husband Will Cole, and his 2 grandchildren Cameron and Maddie of Bennington VT.

He was also loved by more family which included; His mother Kathy Mauri of Cambridge NY. His sister and her husband Robin & Lee Brownell of Cambridge NY, sister in law Monica Mauri of Bradenton FL, Kim Mauri of Tampa FL, nieces Kristin Brownell, Shannon (Brownell) Scully and her husband Jonathan, nephew Levi Brownell all of Cambridge NY. Step children Cliff Lane if Knoxville TN, Brittany Turner of Louisville KY, Nicole King of Evansville IN. His Uncle Frank Mauri of Woodstock CT who was also his God Father.

Many great nieces, & nephews, cousins, friends, and coworkers. The list is endless.

Tony was predeceased by his father Anthony Mauri Sr., his brother James Mauri, wife Mary Mauri, Uncle Robert Weiler, Aunt Connie Mauri, his paternal grandparents James & Vincenza Mauri, his maternal grandparents Otto & Ruieta Weiler.

Tony had a big heart. He connected with people in a way that friends quickly became family. In that sense his family that reached far and wide. He will be remembered forever, and missed by all who knew him.

Graveside funeral services for Tony will be held Wednesday afternoon August 16, 2023 at 1pm in West Arlington Cemetery.

Pamela loved all animals especially her cats. She is survived by her sister Cheryl Hard (Jeff) of Newburn, NC, her niece Jennifer Mac. She was predeceased by her nephew Brian Hard. Michelanne Sylvester - March 11, 1953 - May 30, 2023

Obituary Preview: Michelanne Sylvester was born March 11, 1953, to Phil and Fran Ryan. She grew up in Manchester, VT with her sisters Nelle and Sharon and her brother Patrick. She graduated from BBS in 1970. She continued her education earning a degree in Theater Arts from Castleton State College.

She married and lived in Arlington raising a beautiful family of three children Erick, Kurt and Laura.

Helping people was her calling and her career. She worked tirelessly for the state helping clients find housing, food and needed support. She loved kids. She worked as a preschool teacher, a para-educator, and a substitute teacher. Just last week, Michelanne was doing what she enjoyed the most, teaching and nurturing kids.

Michelanne loved her 5 grandchildren. There was literally nothing she wouldn’t do for them. From running to the store for snacks to cheering them on at games. She attended every sporting event and concert she could. She could be counted on to have the ingredients to bake blueberry muffins and chocolate chip cookies with them. She enjoyed taking the four oldest ones Avrie, Mia, Madison, and Caitlin overnight at a hotel with a swimming pool. She had a very special relationship with the youngest, Brooks who loved to spend time playing with toys, watching movies, singing Disney songs and cuddling with his grandmother. She loved being a grandmother.

Michelanne enjoyed working on her home, filling it with flowers and other things of beauty. She loved her family dogs and got a new puppy for her latest birthday. Michelanne had a beautiful singing voice and loved singing in the church choir. She took every opportunity to go dancing, especially with her brother, Patrick. Her favorite places to be were at the ocean or at Disney World.

Michelanne left us too suddenly and left a hole in the hearts of all who loved her. She is survived by Bill Sylvester her husband and love of her life for the last 27 years, her son Erick Ericksen and his partner Tina Cascone and their daughters, Madison and Caitlin. She is also survived by her son, Kurt and his wife, Maggie and daughter Laura and son-in-law Doug Aldrich and their children, Avrie, Mia, and Brooks. She will be missed by Connie Hawley who Michelanne enjoyed a long friendship with, as well as many long walks. Her brother, Patrick with his wife Karen, her sister Nelle with her husband Neil and her sister Sharon cannot believe she is gone. She leaves nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews and her uncle.

Michelanne was predeceased by her parents, many aunts, and uncles and her brother-in-law Bernie Henault.

Even in death Michelanne thought of others and was an organ donor. Funeral services will be held Friday June 9, 2023 at 3pm at the First Baptist Church in Manchester. A visiting hour at the church will be held from 2-3pm one hour prior to the service. A celebration of life will follow at the home of her daughter Laura 193 Sandgate Road in Arlington. Gary was known as a hardworking man who spent his life working as a mechanic and in the concrete industry. He loved the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed spending time in it.

He is survived by his wife Betty, his son Shannon and his fiancé Becky, his son Todd and his wife Kerry, his grandchildren: Kolby, Brayden, Taylor, Elianna, Grady and Emmet, his brothers: Ken "Bimbo" Wilkins, Shawn Thomas, Timmie Thomas, his sisters: Vicki Dejnozka and Terri Reid.

He is pre-deceased by his mother Rose Marie Breton Wilkins Thomas, his father Harry "Reb" Thomas, his sister Ann Weeks and his brother Scott Thomas. Ruth enjoyed reading, walking, playing croquet, in her earlier riding snowmobiles and cherished times spent with her family. Ruth is survived by her children David McKeighan (Mary) of Shaftsbury, Robert McKeighan of Arlington and Diann McIntyre (Gary) of New Haven Junction, VT, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas Kesick who passed away October 27, 1994, her son Colin McKeighan and her sisters Lillian Johnson, Marion Wright and Alice Young. Geraldine was born in Tupper Lake, NY on July 26, 1923 the daughter of the late Martin and Yvonne (Proulx) Cummings and attended Tupper Lake and Malone, NY schools. Geraldine worked as a retail clerk for the Enchanted Dollhouse. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Arlington where she was a member of the Sodality. She was a volunteer at Martha Canfield Library in Arlington and was awarded the 20- year pin for volunteering. Geraldine was involved in various bowling leagues in Arlington and Manchester, enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Geraldine is survived by her daughters Cheryl Hard of New Bern, NC and Pamela Blair of Mesa, AZ, brother Benjamin Cummings of Florida and her sister Danielle Frommer of Nantucket, MA, and granddaughter Jennifer B. Mac of Steamboat Springs, CO and great grandchildren Rachel Hard of Richmond,, Vermont and Grace Mac of Steamboat Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Joseph Blair whom she married September 28, 1940. Mr. Blair passed away October 25, 1997. She was also preceded in death by siblings Gerald Cummings, Martin Cummings, Esther Caruso, Yvonne Maskell, Jacqueline Auge and Rita Jean Knox and her grandson Brian Hard. Donald was a member of the American Legion Post 69 in Arlington, loved fishing especially with his wife Doris and hunting. He was a New York Mets baseball fan, enjoyed watching football, listening to the sounds of Big Band music, travelling especially to Las Vegas numerous times and visiting most states in the Continental United States. Donald is survived by his children William Christopher Fisher (Dawn) of Sunderland and Susan Figliomeni (Carlo) of Delanson, NY, his sister Diane Baker of Kansas City, Missouri and grandchildren Laura Niedecker (Rhys) of Burlington, VT and Jeremy Fisher (Courtney) of Sunderland. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris (Secoy) Fisher whom he married June 20, 1953 in Sunderland, VT. Mrs. Fisher passed away October 16, 2021. Donald A. Brown - January 03, 1924 - January 14, 2023

Obituary Preview: Donald A. Brown, 99, a longtime resident of Arlington, VT, sadly passed away on January 14, 2023 after a short illness and being admitted to the Southern Vermont Medical Center. Donald was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on January 3, 1924. He graduated from high school and went on to attend WIT and MIT in Boston. His education was interrupted when he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during WWII. After the war, while visiting his brother’s wife in Bennington, VT at then Putnam Memorial Hospital, he met Eleanor, a native Vermonter, who was the attending nurse. She caught his eye and they were married shortly after on October 16th 1948. Together they had eight children and celebrated over 52 years of marriage until her death in 2000.

A few years later he met Irene Novotny who had lost her husband. They became partners and brought each other comfort, love and happiness.

Donald was chief engineer at Mack Molding from 1950-1989. He owned and operated his own custom machine shop where he had completed a job just a few weeks prior to his death. He was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons Red MT. Lodge in Arlington since 1946, enjoyed woodworking, fiddling with the Kelly Stand Symphony Orchestra and played in a harmonica band for several years. Donald also enjoyed traveling, sail boating and vegetable gardening. He served as the Justice of the Peace and was a former member of the Arlington Zoning Board. He cherished his church community and was a pillar of the St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington for over 75 years, serving on the vestry and making building improvements. In later years he enjoyed the senior meals and ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) breakfasts at West Mountain Inn.

Donald is survived by his children Cynthia Cook (Sidney) of North Carolina, Deborah Silverman of Arlington, VT, Jeffrey Brown (Joan) of Castleton, VT, Kathryn Ross (Noah) of Pleasantville, New York, Nancy Seagler (Phil) of Macon, GA, James Brown (Suzanna) of Georgia, VT, David brown (Kat) of Arlington, VT, his adopted son Fahri Karakaya (Ferayi) of Massachusetts, his partner of many years, Irene Novotny of Arlington, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor R. (Mooney), his son Steven Brown, his grandson Jake Cook, his brother Robert Brown, his step-grandson Sam Brown and a close nephew Steven Brown.

A celebration of life for Donald will be held Saturday February 11, 2023 at 11am at St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington. Interment will be private. There are no visiting hours. Obituary Preview: William Read White, 83, of Arlington VT, died December 24, 2022. He was in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family, as he wished. He was born to the late Frank and Helen White of Arlington, VT, on July 8, 1939. Bill graduated from Arlington Memorial High School in 1957. He then went on to take classes at Wentworth, UVM, UCONN, University of Hartford, and Kansas State University. Bill married (Molly) Mary C. White in 1969, and they lived together in Arlington, VT. Bill worked most of his life in the field of (both building and road) construction in CT, NH, MA, and VT. He was a Grade Foreman and Superintendent for the Palazzi Corp. for twelve years when he retired in 1990. He made and groomed snow at Bromley Ski Area for three winters. And worked at The Stratton Sports Center for six years. He most recently worked part time at Chem Clean in Arlington for six years. Bill was Past President of the Alumni Association of AMHS in the early 1970’s. He was an avid snowmobiler until an unfortunate automobile accident in 1987 left him disabled. He helped to organize the Green Mountain Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club in the beginning days of V.A.S.T. He and Molly loved snowmobiling onto Somerset Reservoir on full moon nights and cooking hot dogs over a fire. Or leaving their home on Rt. 7A in Arlington, and snowmobiling all the way to MA. Back in the old days! He very much enjoyed taking trips with his wife, Molly. Trips included: York Beach, ME; Acadia National Park, ME; Abilene, TX; New Orleans, LA; around Lake Huron; around Lake Superior; Niagara Falls; Chincoteague National Seashore; Wyoming; and St. John, VI. Bill also loved taking family camping trips and had camped at most every State Park in VT. His favorite season was Deer Hunting Season and he had bagged many a buck. He was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed watching live ice hockey games. He always had a keen sense of forecasting how something would turn out and saying “Mark my words”. Funny, but he was always right and didn’t want you to forget it! Bill had a lively sense of humor and mischief. His children and grandchildren never tired hearing Big Bill’s stories of highjinks. Some family favorites include: when he put an outhouse (which may or may not have had someone in it) in front of the double doors at AMHS; and when he changed the Saint James Episcopal church loudspeaker from playing church hymns to Hank Williams. Even later in life he still showed a sense of humor. Instead of draining his pool, he went out mid-day and shot it full of holes with a 45 magnum. Bill served our country in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He was an in-country Vietnam veteran and held the position of Head Armorer. Bill is survived by: Wife, Molly; Daughter & Son-In-Law, Kim & Will Belongia of Waterbury Center, VT; Son & Daughter-In-Law, Cory White & Marlene Holcomb of East Dorset, VT; and seven adorable and extremely smart Grandchildren: Anna Belongia, Sawyer Belongia, Cassidy White, Colton White, Harleigh White, Huck White & Breck White. Obituary Preview: Marjorie Helen (Squiers) Coulter, 88, a lifelong resident of Arlington, Vermont passed away peacefully on December 19, 2022 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Marjorie was born at home on the banks of the Battenkill on River Road in Arlington on March 14, 1934. Marjorie was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Clarice (Henderson) Squiers and attended local schools. Marjorie loved riding horses and earned the money to buy her first horse, Chief, when she was young. She went on to have many different horses but remembered the special relationship she had with Chief all her life and would tell stories of him frequently. Marjorie was a nature lover; she could see her favorite mountain, Red Mountain, from her bedroom when she was a child and spent a lot of time in the outdoors walking, hiking, camping, skiing, and tubing on the Battenkill. She could frequently be seen walking daily on River Rd well into her old age. She was an avid reader and enjoyed corresponding with friends and family by letter. She met her husband, Jerome Coulter, while square dancing at the grange in West Arlington. They were married July 3, 1954 and had 64 years together. The Coulters enjoyed traveling and traveled to Europe, the Caribbean, and Mexico. They explored many places in the United States and Canada in their RV. When Marjorie was a child, her family lived next door to Norman Rockwell and their families were friends. Marjorie posed for his famous painting, Freedom from Fear when she was a young girl. She worked at the Norman Rockwell museum in Arlington and liked answering questions from customers who would visit and signing autographs. She also drove school buses for Arlington schools for many years. Marjorie was a member of the Bennington Seventh-day Adventist church since the late 1950s. Her love for Jesus was the most important thing in her life, and she looked forward to meeting Him and seeing her family again in heaven. Marjorie is survived by her children Jerome Coulter Jr. and his wife Marybeth of Apopka, Florida, Virginia Colon and her husband Noel of North Petersburgh, New York, and Richard Coulter and his wife Jane of Arlington, Vermont, grandchildren Jonathan, Andrew, Jessica, Justin, Ashley, and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Coulter, her brothers Raymond and David Squiers, and a daughter-in-law, Diane (Tompkins) Coulter. Kenneth Gile - July 24, 1932 - December 18, 2022

Obituary Preview: Kenneth Gile, a former resident of Pownal, VT, passed away following a brief illness at the Rutland Regional Medical Center on Dec. 18, 2022 at the age of 90. He was the eldest son of the late Albert and Sara Gile of Rochester, New Hampshire. Throughout his early years, Kenneth enjoyed working alongside his father in their home furniture making business, learning many fine woodworking skills. Upon graduation from Spaulding High school in 1950 in Rochester, Kenneth served in the Navy, where he was an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War. He and his best friend Maxie, drove his 1932 Model A to Florida for enlistment. After his service, he enrolled at Keene State Teachers College as an Industrial Arts major. While a student at Keene, he met his wife, Patricia. They married in 1957 and after graduation made Southern Vermont their home. He began his teaching career in 1958 at the former Benn High. He then transferred to Mt. Anthony Union High School and later to the Jr. High, where he retired in 1993. He taught a variety of subjects, including woodworking, automotive, electricity, aeronautics and plastics, graphic arts and many others for over 33 years. He inspired many of his students to pursue careers in the industrial arts. Kenneth had many talents and interests and would often be involved in a variety of building and mechanical pursuits. One of his special projects was to make furniture for his wife Patricia's kindergarten classroom, when she began her teaching career. He was always quick to help any family member or friend who needed his expertise or an extra hand. Kenneth loved gardening, fine woodworking, beekeeping, fly-tying and fishing. He and Patricia had a fond appreciation for Maine and would take frequent trips to visit his aunt Audrey, who resided in Wells. One of Kenneth's memorable fishing excursions was with his brothers Leslie and Albert to the inland passage of Alaska, where they caught salmon, king crab and halibut. He and his wife Patricia vacationed in Hawaii, where they paid their respects at the site of Pearl Harbor. then travelled on to Japan to visit their youngest daughter Pam, who was stationed in the Navy. Kenneth was a past member of the Bennington County Beekeepers Club, and served as a Boy Scout leader in the Bennington area. He directed the Manpower program in the 1970's which worked on various projects, including the Seth Warner shelter on the Long Trail. His professional teaching experience included adult woodworking classes that were taught at the High School. Kenneth held several positions in the local teachers association, as well as state and national boards of the Industrial Arts Association. In his later years, Kenneth enjoyed reading, cooking, spending time with family, visits to Maine, and taking his great grandchildren to the local Veterans Home fish pond. Kenneth is survived by his daughters Kimberly Gile Face (late David), Nichole (Joseph) Forest, and Pamela (Greg) Shughart; sisters Linda (Denny) Pittman, Marilyn (Aris) Brenner and brother Albert Gile; his grandchildren and great grandchildren who he cared for deeply; and many friends and colleagues. Kenneth is preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia, and brothers William and Leslie Gile. Brownell “Brownie” Asa Bacon - October 05, 1937 - November 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Brownell “Brownie” Asa Bacon, 85, passed away on November 8, 2022 at his home in Arlington, VT in the care of and alongside his daughter after a long journey with Alzheimer's Disease. Brownie was born on October 5,1937 to Asa Bacon and Rachel Bacon (Waite) at his parents' home on Edge Hill Road in Londonderry, VT. He was the eldest of three children with a younger brother, Ronald Bacon, and a younger sister, Betty Bacon. Brownie, Ron, and Betty were very close in age, and shared a childhood together playing in the woods, along the river near their home, and around the town of Londonderry. Brownie, a well-behaved young boy, often told stories of the trouble he would get in with his parents by covering for his younger brother's wild shenanigans. Brownie attended primary school at Marion Grover School in Londonderry, and attended high school at Leland and Gray in Townshend, VT. Brownie joined the National Guard, and started working at Mack Moulding in Arlington, VT where he dedicated “47 years, 7 months, and 7 days” while never once calling out sick. A second job for Brownie was his mastery of masonry work. Always working in khaki dress pants and a nice button-down shirt he built beautiful stonewalls all over Londonderry, Landgrove, Weston, and other Vermont towns. He was a true master of the craft, and his memory will be held in all those walls for many years. For fun and hobbies Brownie was an avid hunter and fisherman. Whenever the opportunity arose, wherever Brownie was, he would be dropping his pole in a river or brook to make a daily catch. Hunting rabbit and deer were something Brownie loved. Not only did he love the hunt and his time in the woods, but he loved his time at hunting camp cooking and telling stories. He spent many years hunting in our woods of Vermont, and many years taking hunting trips to Maine with his dear (deer) friends. He is a member of the 200 club in Maine, and has a garage full of trophy deer racks. When Brownie wasn’t out building stonewalls, hunting, or fishing then there was a good chance you could find him next to the radio listening to his beloved Red Sox. Brownie was predeceased in death by his parents, Asa and Rachel, sister, Betty, and half-sisters, Marion Grout and Phyllis Sweet, and half-brother, Ken Warner. Brownie is survived by his brother, Ronald Bacon (Myrtle) of Londonderry, his son, Zane Bacon (Dawn) of Bennington, his daughter, Teresa Bacon, and his grandsons, Alex and Asa Bacon, and 3 great-grandsons, all whom reside in Arlington, VT, and several nephews and nieces. Please come to remember Brownie’s life and to celebrate his “spirit in sky” on November 19, 2022 at the Second Congregational church officiated by Laurie Krooss in Londonderry at 1pm. Obituary Preview: Loretta (Sioui) Lemieux of Arlington, VT, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, October 19th. Born on March 4, 1924, she was the daughter of Henri P Sioui and Lucia (Coulombe) Sioui of Village Huron, Quebec, Canada.

As a young woman during the WWII years, Loretta moved to Waterbury, CT, answering the call of the US government for women to work in factories, acquiring employment at the Waterbury Button Company which made US military buttons. Over the years, Loretta also was employed by the Benrus Watch Company, Timex, the Ball and Socket Co., and as a private housekeeper.

Above all else, Loretta's love of family and friends guided her throughout her life. When her five children were young, Loretta and her husband, Marcel, moved to Wolcott where she enjoyed many years of life on Hitchcock Lake, especially reveling in her opportunities to swim and ice skate. Her beautiful singing voice could be heard every Sunday in church, and her infectious laugh and love of life were an inspiration to all. Loretta was also very well-known in her community for her superb tailoring skills, happily sewing each day as she enjoyed listening to her music.

Later in life, Loretta enjoyed many joyous years residing in both Connecticut and Florida with the second love her life, Andrew DiZinno. Loretta was a lifetime member of The Huronne-Wendat Nation in Loretteville, Quebec, Canada, and St Pius X Church in Wolcott, CT, and during her final years in Vermont, as a member of the Bennington Project Independence in Bennington, VT.

Loretta is survived by three sons, Denis Lemieux, David Lemieux and his wife Deborah, Marc Lemieux and his wife Jennell, and one daughter, Suzanne and her husband Donald, as well as nine grandchildren and twelve great-grand children. Loretta was predeceased by one son, Richard Lemieux as well as Richard's wife Mary.

Ilona was a teacher in the North Rockland County School District for over 30 years, was an avid Equestrian and horse lover, loved her dogs and was a very creative person. Ilona is survived her sister Yolan Slater of Danbury, Connecticut, her aunt Nelly Boyd of North Salem, NY, her nephews Tyler Slater of Danbury, Connecticut and Brett Slater of Wiscasset, Maine and other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Denis Rice who passed away in 2015.
