He attended school in McIntosh through the eighth grade He learned to hold his own from an early age, having eight sisters and only one brother. It's a tough time when your sisters wait until mom and dad leave to tie you up with only enough lead to get you to the outhouse.  Milbert served in the U.S. Army as a grease monkey (his words) for the 73rd Combat Engineers from1951-1953. He was a Korean War Combat Veteran and remained in touch with his fellow veterans of the 73rd for the remainder of his life through regular “Army Buddy” reunions. Milbert always owned two or three trucks and did custom farm work.  He also worked for Chisholm Brothers Equipment in Burley.  In his later years, he spent a lot of time doing handyman work, painting, plowing, and driving truck for harvest. His official retirement involved a daily trip to the coffee shop where he was dubbed, "The Mayor of Acequia." Ask anyone who knew Milbert well about his "Swinette."

Preceded in death by his parents Della and Bill Poole. Grandma Anna Parsons. Survived by wife, Carol Smith. Children Shaelee Poole, Qwintin Poole, Zac Kane and his wife Kristin Kane and grandsons Enzo Kane and Dutch Kane, Shad Smith and grandchildren Kemper Smith, Saylor Smith, Shooter Smith, Taylynn Smith, Deanna Brady and grandchildren Austin Brady, Rashell Brady and great grandchildren Azeara, Zalan, and Zerik. Brother, Scott Poole and his wife Kara Poole and niece Ashley Poole of Carmichael, California. Brother, Greg Poole, and nephews “The Cowboys” Ryan Poole, Cory Poole, and his wife Tyla Poole and great-nephew Gannon Poole, Blake Poole and Brogan Poole of Rupert Idaho. Mother-in-Law, Lana Gladfelder of Burley, Idaho.
Russ was a 1985 graduate of Burley High School and a star member of the Burley Bobcats Football team, where he earned a scholarship offer to play football at the University of Montana-Western in Dillon, Montana. Russ decided to forgo college to enter the workforce. After graduating Russ worked at Gordon Paving and then spent 27 years in the same office through 3 different companies; Ore-Ida trucking, Jack B Parsons, and AgExpress Inc.
Russ grew up in the mini-cassia area of southern Idaho with his two younger brothers.  When Russ was young he and his brothers spent time with their dad hunting, fishing and camping. Russ had a tough exterior but was a softie at heart. He played many pranks on his cousins and friends and was always in for a good laugh. If you knew Russ you knew that laugh and that rosy cheeked smile. Russ never strayed from lending a hand, often helping family, friends, and even strangers with any chore imaginable. Russ never went anywhere without a hat. He never quit a project before it was finished, and his attention to detail was second to none.
Russ enjoyed spending time with family whether it was on the Snake River or taking a trip to explore new places. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, and raising hell with the river crew. He loved to maintain a beautiful yard often calling on the neighbor kids to ride along on the mower. Russ loved to joke and always had something funny to say. He would often pick a fight with the grandkids jokingly telling them to not let 10 seconds of bravery ruin the rest of their lives. He often quipped that the Bobcats were better than the Spartans even though his kids would prove him wrong.
Nothing was more important to Russ than pouring cereal for Shaelee, holding Zac’s hand in a construction project, letting Qwintin win a fishing contest, spoiling the grandkids, or making sure Carol never touched a dust rag.
Russ made the world a better place and affected the lives of too many people to count. We were all blessed to have called him our friend, brother, father, and grandpa.
An open-house Gathering for friends and family will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2022 at the Rupert West Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 26 South 100 West Rupert, Idaho. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2022 also at the church.  Services will conclude with burial in the Rupert Cemetery under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.

Edward Dee Vaughn - December 21, 1939 - March 30, 2022

Departed: 03/30/2022 (Rupert)
Obituary Preview: Edward Dee Vaughn, 82, of Rupert passed away on March 30, 2022 in the arms of wife of 62 years.
Ed was born in Mayfield, Kentucky to Owen and Edna on December 21, 1939 at the nearest hospital to the family's farm located some 12 miles away in Boaz, Kentucky.  Ed spent his first five years living on the corn and tobacco farm his father and mother leased just outside of Boaz.  After his father was drafted into the army in 1944 as a result of World War II, he moved to Rupert, Idaho with his mother to live near his maternal grandparents.  Ed grew up in Rupert wreaking havoc on the local fish population, both with rod and bow, accompanied by his good friends Max Yost and Calvin Vogt.  In 1956 Ed's father started building his own business, Shorty's Blacksmith Shop.  Initially, Ed worked part time at Shorty's constructing the original building.  Ed graduated from Minico High School in 1958 and started working at the IPPI, a potato processing plant in Burley.  After three months Ed decided to join his father at Shorty's where he spent the next 40 years.  In 1959 Ed met Lucille Ulrich, the little sister to a friend of his, Leroy Ulrich.  The two started dating and were later married on May 14, 1960 in the Lutheran Church in Rupert.  Ed and Lucille had five children; Mark, Brent, Jerrod, Anthony and Sabrina.
Ed became a member of the Lutheran Church in Rupert in 1959.  Ed seldom missed a church service when he was at home, but it appeared that his favorite part of Sunday was waking up at the crack of dawn to fish below the spill gates at the Minidoka dam where he would many times bring home trout weighing in excess of three pounds before getting ready for the morning church service.
Ed loved to hunt, and in 1956 shot his first deer with a bow in the south hills near Oakley.  He shot his first bull elk, a 6x7, with a rifle in 1958 and later his first elk with a bow in 1979.  Many a deer fell to the cannon, a 300 H&H, that Ed packed around for years.  He would say of that gun, "if you could see it, you could hit it".  Ed later took up duck and goose hunting with his sons, Jerrod and Anthony.  The three spent countless hours in a duck blind near Lake Walcott or on one of the islands downstream of Minidoka dam.  One of Ed's signature duck hunting activities was to roast a duck on an open fire while he waited for the next flock to come into the decoys.  For this reason, he always had salt and pepper in his hunting bag, especially salt. Ed also enjoyed archery and became a member of the National Field Archery Association in 1952.  He and his family traveled to many archery shoots over the decades where Ed won at the State and Northwest Regional levels.  His most memorable archery tournament was the 1971 State Field in Pocatello where he set the state barebow record with a Hoyt Pro Medalist recurve
Ed also enjoyed bowling.  He was on a men's league in Rupert where he bowled with his father-in-law, Al Ulrich, his brother-in-law, Irvine Moore, and at times his two sons Jerrod and Anthony.   Ed also bowled on a couples league for many years with his wife and Irvine and Nadean Moore.
Ed had his first stroke during an archery hunt in September of 1980.  This did not slow Ed down, but another stroke in February of 1998 took half of his eyesight and forced Ed into early retirement.  In his retirement, Ed enjoyed bass fishing tournaments, his grandkids' basketball games, his four lap dogs, and tagging along on big game hunts with his sons.
Ed is survived by his wife, Lucille; brothers Max (Nikki) and Jesse (Lila); sons Mark, Jerrod (Michelle), and Anthony (Kathleen); daughter Sabrina (Bernie) Corichi; grandchildren Drew, Meghan, Madeline (Spencer), Christian (Ashley), Joshua, and Thomas; and great grandchildren Emrie and Trayton.  Ed was preceded in death by his parents Owen and Edna and his son Brent.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 9, 2022. at the Rupert Cemetery with Military Rites. Services will conclude with a Memorial services at 11:00a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.

Obituary Preview: To view the live webcast of Margene's service, please click here.
Margene Rigby Bradshaw, 96, of Rupert passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from natural causes.
Margene was born on July 23, 1925, in Newton, Utah to Golden Heber Rigby and LaVerne Barker Rigby. Margene enjoyed an idyllic childhood surrounded by five sisters and one brother. Summers were spent climbing trees, gathering eggs, canning fruit, and buying penny candy at her grandparent's store. Margene graduated from North Cache High School in 1943. She then went on to study Business with an emphasis on secretarial work at Utah State University. Shortly after the war ended, Margene met a handsome soldier from Wellsville named Lynn Bradshaw. Lynn described her as “having long dark brown hair that hung down to the seat of her pants and was the best thing that ever happened to me.” They were married on December 13, 1946, for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah temple.
After they were married, they spent time in Wellsville, Rexburg, Rigby, and Burley before building their home and settling in Rupert. They were blessed with five sons and two daughters. Margene’s children enjoyed warm, homemade bread nearly every day after school, hot chocolate and toast after every ball game, and her famous homemade ice cream on Sunday nights. She spent her days in quiet service for her family, laundry, ironing, cooking, cleaning, darning socks, and sewing clothes.
Her children remember her home-cooked meals, the special shirts she sewed, and the listening ear she always gave. Her nights out usually consisted of watching her children at their various ball games or bowling in the women's league at the Rupert Bowl.
After her children were raised, Margene enjoyed traveling with Lynn for his job and going to visit their children and grandchildren throughout the US and Canada. She had many callings in the church and always served faithfully and well. Her later years were spent driving out to the feedlot with Lynn, keeping the freezer stocked with Creamies for the grandkids, tending her famous raspberry patch, crocheting, and reading.
Margene was a great conversationalist and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. Her kids and grandkids loved to sit in the rocking chair next to her and chat for hours. She was quick to lend an encouraging word, witty, and always appreciated a good joke. Margene lived quietly and simply, was beloved by everyone, and takes with her a piece of our hearts. Our family is so grateful for the lessons she taught and the legacy she left behind. We are comforted to know that she is once again reunited with her eternal companion in heaven.
“The only way to take the sorrow out of death is to take the love out of life.” (Russell M. Nelson).

DeLoris Ann Thaete - July 02, 1926 - February 06, 2022

Departed: 02/06/2022 (Rupert)
Obituary Preview: To view the live broadcast of DeLoris' memorial service, please go to www.tlcrupert.com and click on the youtube channel.
DeLoris Hahn Thaete was born July 2, 1926, at the Twin Falls County Hospital. DeLoris began life as the oldest child and only daughter of Emil and Olga Hahn of Buhl, Idaho.  She was baptized into the Christian faith on July 6th.  From the time she was young to the present, DeLoris has always looked out for her four younger brothers.  The five children enjoyed life on the farm. Emil and Olga devised a clever plan for getting the house cleaned on Saturdays.  Emil took all of the kids to a cowboy movie such as “Roy Rogers.”  With the kids out of the way, Olga cleaned the house in record time.  DeLoris walked to a two-room rural, public school 1 ¼ miles away from home.  Grades 1-4 met in one room, and grades 5-8 met in the other room.  Christmas programs were held in the nearby Czech lodge because it had a stage.  One year, a Dutch bachelor made wooden shoes for the kids to wear in the program.  Following elementary school, DeLoris rode the bus to Buhl to attend high school.
Emil was one of the charter members when St. John Lutheran in Buhl was organized as a congregation.  He helped build the original church and school buildings, as well as the present church building. DeLoris started teaching Sunday School during the high school years at the mission in Buhl.  She also substituted as a church organist in the original church building.
DeLoris' pastor, as well as a school friend who talked of being a missionary, inspired her to attend college at Concordia, St. John's in Winfield, Kansas, where she earned a two-year associate teaching degree.  During the time DeLoris spent at college, her future husband was on active duty during WWII in the Philippines and Japan.  On arrival at St. John's, DeLoris found herself in a barracks with nine other freshmen women.  These women became life-long friends.  After graduation, they communicated through a round robin, an envelope containing a letter written during the past year from each of the roommates.  DeLoris would read the letters, remove her old letter, enclose a new letter, and send the packet to the next person.
Following college, DeLoris worked a couple of years as a parochial schoolteacher before returning to Twin Falls to take the job of society editor for the Times News.  She wrote wedding announcements, descriptions of wedding dresses and weddings, and covered the meetings of social clubs.
DeLoris met Lloyd Thaete at a Walther League roller-skating party.  They married February 19, 1950,  they moved to a farm south of Filer Idaho during which time the first two children were born.  Then, while farming in the Twin Falls area, the next three children were born. When Lloyd drew for a homestead northeast of Rupert, he began clearing sagebrush, digging ditches, and moving a house onto the land.  Meanwhile, DeLoris cared for her five toddlers and was pregnant with the sixth.  Lloyd was moving cattle to the new farm when DeLoris sent word to him that she was headed to the hospital.  They finally settled on the homestead in 1958 where four years later their youngest child was born in Rupert.
DeLoris always planted a large garden and canned both fruit and vegetables to provide for her growing brood.  She often had fresh cookies, bread, or sweet rolls waiting for the children when they came home from school.  DeLoris was active in the local PTA, secretary/treasurer of the Minidoka Library District Bookmobile, belonged to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible Study and was a member of the Good Sam's Club.
Christian education was so important to Lloyd and DeLoris that they sent six of their children to Concordia colleges in Portland and Nebraska.  Lloyd preceded DeLoris in death in 1997.
DeLoris is survived by a brother, Arvid Hahn, sisters-in-law, Gwen Hahn and Rose Hahn, and all seven children: Caroline (Leland) Snyder, Grace (Steve) Hauptman, Bernita (Tom) Krenzke, Mark Thaete, Arlene (Kevin) Smyer, Joy (Ron) Thomas, Gayle (Joe) Wollman. Also surviving DeLoris are many nephews, nieces, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: husband Lloyd Thaete, parents Emil and Olga Hahn brothers Earl, Dean, Raymond Hahn, and great-granddaughter Aimee Heinemann.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rupert.  Private family burial services will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022.  Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
