Obituary Preview: Virginia K. Rollins, 70 year old resident of Staples, MN passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 at her home in Staples, MN. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples, MN. Caring for Virginia and her family is the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples, MN.
Virgina was born on November 12, 1953, in Staples, MN to the late Warren and Marie (Weinans) Rubel. She grew up and attended school in Staples, MN where she graduated High School. At the age of 14 she began working at the Mary Rondorf Retirement Home in Staples, MN until she moved to Brainerd, MN in 1974. Virginia was united in marriage to James Rollins on July 21, 1973. The couple resided in Brainerd, MN for a few years until returning to Staples, MN in 1980 where she went back to work for the Mary Rondorf Home, and she eventually became the administrator for many years. Following the purchase of the Mary Rondorf Home by Lakewood Health Systems, Virginia retired and began working part-time at Ernie's Grocery Store in Staples. She has also volunteered much of her time as an election judge and at the Food Shelf. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, playing Farkle and having frequent lunch dates with her many girlfriends. Virginia also enjoyed spending time with her family and playing a nightly game of Yahtzee with her husband. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Virginia is survived by husband, James Rollins; children, Melissa (Jeffrey) Winter and Michael (Heather) Rollins; siblings, David Rubel, Kenneth Rubel, and Mary Jo Nelson; grandchildren, Madison Winter, Ian Winter, Keith Rollins and Amy Rollins and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Warren and Marie Rubel; siblings, Thomas Rubel and John Rubel.
