Wm. Bruce King - June 03, 1940 - March 11, 2024

Departed: 03/11/2024 (Elkhorn)
Obituary Preview: Wm. Bruce King, 83 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center.  He was born June 3, 1940, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late William and Evelyn (Horak) King.   Is there anything as sweet as a teen romance? Only a teen romance that lasts. Esther and Bruce met at Palatine High School around 1955. Bruce was united in marriage to Esther M. Sporleder on June 6, 1959, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Schaumburg, IL.  He loved her until the day she died in 2014 after 53 years of marriage and 57 years together.  Together Forever is carved in stone for them.
Bruce loved baseball.  He lettered in baseball, football, and ran track for Palatine High School.  As a kid growing up in Chicago, he rooted for the Yankees, mostly because of his love for Mickey Mantle. Later in his life, he became a baseball coach for the Ethan Allen School for Boys in Wales, WI.  Bruce loved to take his kids and grandkids to many Milwaukee Brewer games with gourmet tailgate lunches prepared by his wife.
Bruce taught at Elkhorn High School and the Ethan Allen School for Boys.  He was verbally gifted and was a perfect mix with his good nature and sense of humor. That made the complexities of science a little more palatable to high school students.  He was proud of all the kids he worked with and proud of his career as a teacher.
He enjoyed his Canadian Whiskey.  His second job was as a bartender at Luebke’s, Sterlingworth, and Crossroads.  He bought King’s Tavern in Elkhorn and used his gifts of gregariousness, humor, and teaching with his new business.
He loved trap shooting and was a lifelong member of the NRA, the Delavan Sportsman’s Club and the Triangle Shooting Club.  He taught his sons and grandsons to shoot well enough that his son scored expert in Army Basic Training.  Bruce became a champion trap shooter, and his basement is filled with his trophies.
He enjoyed tractors and restored a 1946 Model B John Deere and model 70 John Deere. Bruce had a 1977 Corvette that he enjoyed going cruising in.
Bruce loved the country life and the beauty of nature.  He loved his places on Hazel Ridge Road and Sporleder Road.  Bruce had trained the Sand Hill Cranes to visit his deck and peck on the patio window for a treat.  He often commented on the beauty of the snowscape along Hazel Ridge and Amos Roads.  He had no use for art, painting or literature, commenting that he had never read a book for pleasure in his life.  He preferred the real beauty of nature instead of replicas.
Bruce is survived by his three children: Lloyd (Carie) King, Annette (Jon Hummel) King-Hummel, Julie (Mark) Gruebel, nine grandchildren: Carson, Austin, Grace (Sean), Jackson, and Charlotte King, Dylan and Olivia Gruebel, and Maxwell (Leah) and Gus Hummel, two great-grandchildren, Lachlan and Malachi and his sister, Patricia Hughes.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 54 years, Esther and brother-in-law, Jack Hughes.

Departed: 03/05/2024 (Elkhorn)
Obituary Preview: James C. Kelnhofer aka “Kelly”, 75 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his home. He was born February 8, 1949, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Joseph and Carol (Emmerich) Kelnhofer. Kelly graduated from Delavan Darien High School with the Class of 1967. He owned and operated Kelly’s Bar for over 30 years.
As one of Kelly’s oldest friends reminded us, ‘every man dies, but not every man lives’ and there is no doubt, Kelly lived! When receiving the news of having stage four liver cancer in February 2023, Kelly was told by the doctor that he’d never seen someone take the news so well and his response was something along the lines of, ‘well I’ve had such a great life’.
When we look at a few of the many chapters of Kelly’s life, he did everything at 110% — snow skiing, water skiing, builder, world traveler, entrepreneur, computer wizard, band member, golfer, space enthusiast (among numerous other hobbies), and especially his dedication to being a dad.
Kelly put so much work and focus into the things he did and was always eager to share his skills and inspire others with the knowledge and experiences he gained throughout his lifetime.
Kelly is survived by his daughter, Ashley (Shaun Banta) Kelnhofer, grandson, Kohen Banta, five siblings, Cathy (J.P.) Beierle, Christine (Rich) Braun, Joseph Kelnhofer, Sharon Seifert, John (Dee) Kelnhofer, his former wife, Dana Jones, and many nieces and nephews. Timothy Allen Lockwood - February 21, 1958 - February 29, 2024

Departed: 02/29/2024 (Elkhorn)
Obituary Preview: Timothy Allen Lockwood age 66 of Lake Geneva, WI died on Thursday February 29, 2024, after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.  He fought with all his will for the people that he loved so dearly.  Tim was born on February 21, 1958; son of the late LaVerne and Joyce (Jacobs) Lockwood.  Tim was a 1976 graduate of Elkhorn High School and moved right into his schooling to become a Funeral Director.  He graduated from Mortuary school and became a licensed funeral director in 1980, officially kicking off his funeral service career.  On May 15, 1983, Tim opened the doors to Lockwood Funeral Home in Elkhorn, WI and began building his business with the support of his cousin, Tom Jacobs. He earned the trust of each family he served and built relationships with each family he cared for.  In 1995 Tim partnered and became a combined owner and operator of funeral homes in Elkhorn, Twin Lakes, and Genoa City, where the Haase and Lockwood families continue to serve today.
On October 17, 1987, Tim married Mary Fincutter at St. Patrick’s Parish in Elkhorn, WI.  Tim gave Mary all of his love and admiration and their bond grew stronger each day.  Tim and Mary began their life together building what would be the home and countryside paradise that they raised their family in.  Tim taught his four children what a proud father looked like. They also learned from him what it was to be a good parent, a good spouse, a good person, and an honest businessman.
Tim’s favorite pass time was working in his yard, creating beautiful landscapes throughout their property. His visions and dreams were big, but there wasn’t any challenge he couldn’t take on. With every completed project his personal oasis became “more gooder”.  Tim had a quick wit and could make light of any situation with his humor and his one-liners. His responses in conversation were unique to him and they fit his personality and always made people laugh.
Among his numerous accomplishments, Tim was a former supervisor of the Town of Geneva, he sat for a time on the Walworth County Board of Supervisors, and most recently was a Trustee for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Tim dedicated his life for over 40 years to the Ministry of Funeral Service and he touched the lives of many grieving families. Helping people process their grief while shepherding them through difficult times was what he was naturally born to do.  Tim had a lot of love to give, which was a good thing since he had such a large and beautiful family to give his love to.  He was very proud of each one of his children and he adored his grandchildren.  He will be deeply missed but he will also live on through his family members left behind, for each one of them carries a characteristic that belongs to Tim.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents; LaVerne and Joyce, his stepfather William Aspinall, his father-in-law Ray Fincutter Sr, and recently, his mother-in-law Bernice Fincutter.  He is survived by his loving wife; Mary; children; Alex (Shauna) Lockwood, Daniel (Tracey) Lockwood, Andrew (Megan) Lockwood, Megan Lockwood; grandchildren; Beckham, Brooks, Declan, Claire, Grace, Lyla; brother; Steve (Joanne) Lockwood; stepsiblings; Kathi (Alan) Bosworth, Audrey (Ray) Young, Dale (Jess) Aspinall, Neal (Karen) Aspinall; many brothers and sisters-in law; many nieces and nephews; and his dog; Sophie.
A visitation for Tim will be held on Sunday March 3, 2024 from 2:00PM to 6:00PM at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory 730 N. Wisconsin Street Elkhorn, WI 53121.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday March 4, 2024 at 11:00AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 107 W. Walworth Street Elkhorn, WI 53121, Officiated by Fr. Larry Chapman and Deacon Arnie Bryson.  Tim’s eulogy will be given by Pastor Tom De Groot.  Tim will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Geneva, WI.
