Born in San Antonio, TX, daughter of Elizabeth (Fialkosky) Litwin, Cheri was a graduate of Burnt Hills - Ballston Lake High School. She attended SUNY Cobleskill College where she majored in secretarial science and was an Alpha Lamda Phi sorority member.

Cheri was the sole bookkeeper of the Clovervale Dairy family farm in Pilesgrove for many years while raising her three successful children, and later in her life, she had worked as a bookkeeper for twelve years at the Amish Market in Mullica Hill. She was involved with the Woodstown-Pilesgrove school board for many years and had served as president. She enjoyed camping with her family at Assateague campground, driving across the US with her husband to visit national parks and to see friends, and watching her grandchildren participate in sports. She loved living in and being an active part of a farming community and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was thoughtful and kind, bringing sweet little gifts to her loved ones during visits. She always remembered the favorite things and treats of the people she loved, even if she was told only once. She was the best mac and cheese maker and enjoyed making favorite cakes and dishes for birthdays and family holidays. She was always there to lend an ear during tough times for her loved ones, offering advice and support.

Cheri is survived by her husband, Phil, who she kept straight for 43 years; her children, Jesse Pettit, Jeremie Pettit, and Jennafer Pettit; her grandchildren, Nathan, Maci, and Sawyer Pettit; her mother, Elizabeth Litwin; and her sister, Cynthia Bingheim.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, we lost our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Norm was funny, sarcastic, talented, and a noted shoe snob. He was a proud union brother (Local 252) and a long-time employee at Trade Images in Buena. He was always proud of his work; he would come home and show us pictures of amazing creations. His free time was all about his boys. They would spend countless hours playing toy wrestling, video games, family board game nights, drawing, watching TV, and extreme hop scotch (there’s a story for that one). He had an infectious personality, always quick with a comment, always getting a laugh. He is survived by his wife, Billie Jo; his sons, Shane and Nathaniel; his sisters, Anna McNiss, Angela Harris, Mary Houseberg (Chuck), Kathy DiAntonio (Chris), Vicky Harris (Jimmy), & Debbie Phillips (Gary); his brother, George Harris; and twenty-four nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Ledney Melvina Harris; his father, George Harris; and his brother, Lee Harris.

Trevor Allen Scott, Sr. - May 17, 1932 - April 01, 2024

Obituary Preview: Trevor Allen Scott, Sr. of Salem (Elsinboro), 91, passed away at home with his family by his side on Monday, April 1, 2024 after battling recent health issues over the past few months.

Born and raised in Delaware County, PA, Trevor served in the US Coast Guard during the end of the Korean War. Once out of the Coast Guard he met and married Barbara Ann (nee Norton) in 1957 and eventually they settled in Elsinboro in 1962 where he remained until his passing. He worked in various shipyards before becoming a welder through Local Union 322, Plumbers & Pipefitters. After retiring from the Union, he began travelling across the US. In 1986, he and his son traveled by bicycles from Pennsylvania to Sacremento, CA in 50 days. He enjoyed golfing, playing card games with his family, motorcycle riding, bowling and plowing his fields on his many tractors. He also enjoyed horse racing at the Delaware Park and claimed to have gotten the chance to ride the legendary racehorse, Man o’ War, in Glen Riddle, PA when he was around 13. He often reminisced about his softball playing years for the Elsinboro VFW and the friends he made in that league. He was known to get quite heated in conversations when talking about the government and was a true Patriot who believed in freedom, truth, loyalty and honor. He also loved jogging which is how he met his second wife, Marie Heil, when they were both 75 years young. Their companionship for almost 17 years was such a blessing for both extended families. They enjoyed numerous dining out adventures and even camping out in a “pup tent” in Pennsylvania

Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Helen Scott, his first wife, Barbara, his brothers, Elwood, Jack, and Tommy, his sisters, Carma, Emma, and Jane, his sons-in-law, Rod Fisher and Rob Mutz, and his grandson, Zachary Hand.

He is survived by his current wife, Marie, his children, Sandra Mutz, Sharon Fisher, Trevor Allen Scott, Jr, Linda McDonald (Doug), his grandchildren Rod (Rosie), Josh (Alexis), Nicole and Ryan Fisher, Steffanie Hand (Joseph Ernst), Robbie Mutz (SaraAnn), Kandace McGinnis (Robb), Kassie and Kourtney Scott, Doug Bradway (Kim), and Andrew McDonald (Amber) as well as 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. He was also dearly loved by Marie’s family especially her children and spouses.

A viewing and visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, April 6th from 10am-12pm with services beginning at 12pm at H.T. Layton Funeral Home, 102 S Main St., Woodstown, NJ 08098. A luncheon will follow immediately after at the Alloway United Methodist Church, 10 Church St., Alloway, NJ. Burial will be private.

Obituary Preview: Minnie Terry (nee Wilkins) Estes, 93, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, March 16, 2024. Born January 13, 1931 in Haddonfield, NJ, she resided in Pitman during her school years until her marriage to Theodore R. Estes, March 27, 1948.

Terry was a 30+ year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, once serving as Regent of the Ann Whitall Chapter of Woodbury, NJ, who was her Revolutionary Ancestor.

From childhood she remained an avid caregiver to all animals, being especially fond of the equine family. She loved taking long rides on her horses and was a member of the old Boots and Saddle Riding Club. Some may remember her and Ted providing pony rides for children during Elmer Day celebrations.

Terry was predeceased by her parents, Forbes “Frank” G. Wilkins and Mary Catherine (Reyno) Wilkins; husband Ted Estes; son Elwood L. Estes, siblings Katherine Bronum-Baker; Frank G. Wilkins and Margaret D. “Peggy” Wilkins. She is survived by her son Kenneth R. Estes, (Arlene) of Warrenton, VA.; daughter Carol Lynn Estes, of Monroeville; brother Rev. Gene L. Wilkins, (Suzanne), Smithville, NJ; 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Kay has left this Earthly life to live eternally in Heaven with Jesus and all her loved ones who have gone before her.

She passed peacefully, after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side.

Kay, daughter of Earl K. and Edith (Wright) Johnson, graduated from Woodstown High School in 1959. She was married in 1960 to her high school sweetheart Charles (Bub) Battle. They were married for 64 fun loving years until the time of her passing. Kay was the loving mother to her two children Scott and Denise. Kay’s Family and Children and eventually Grandchildren were her # 1 priority. She could be found cheering from the bleachers anytime her kids took the court or the field. Kay loved her sports teams! She was a long time Eagles season ticket holder. She enjoyed her Sundays tailgating with Irv and Lamita Smith and cheering at Vet Stadium and later The Linc. Whether it be the Eagles, Phillies or the Flyers, Kay was always ready to cheer on her team.

Kay enjoyed a 30 year career at The Woodstown National Bank where she worked her way up the ladder, eventuallybecoming the Chief Loan Officer and ultimately Vice President of the bank. Kay was a devoted employee and a very much loved fixture at Woodstown National. Kay loved to entertain. The Battle house was known for the annual clambake, countless pool parties, and holidaycelebrations. Kay was always ready to host, the more the merrier and boy were they merry!

Kay thoroughly enjoyed her time spent with her Grandchildren. Swimming in her pool and eventually summers in Wildwood. And true to form, the more the merrier.

Kay enjoyed wintering in Florida with a large group of their Woodstown friends.

Kay and her girlfriends have enjoyed playing cards together in their monthly “Card Club” for over 60 years. Kay valued her friendships, most of which were formed in high school and have lasted her lifetime.

Kay was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother and a friend to all who knew her.

She was known for her devotion to her family, her beauty and grace, and will be missed by all.

Kay is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles M. Battle Jr. (Bub), her son and daughter-in -law Scott and Maryann Battle; her daughter Denise & John Quisito; her grandchildren Michael (Tara) Quisito, Liza (Jesse) Quisito Eisenhart, Alex Battle, Nick Battle and Julia Weisel; her great grandchildren, Giovanni, Giuliana, Harper, Avi, Levi, Lux and Malachi; and her brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Mary Johnson.

Obituary Preview: Gail P. Shute, age 78 of Alloway, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024, in her home with her family by her side.

Born in Salem, daughter of the late George & Linda (Bowling) Vanaman, she had been a lifelong Alloway resident. Gail was a 1963 graduate of Woodstown High School. She was a stay-at-home mom and had also worked at Agway in Bridgeton for 19 years. Gail loved being outside, gardening and cutting grass. She could usually be found at home in her flower beds, but also enjoyed going to the shore in summer. If she could not be found on a Saturday morning, she was likely hitting yard sales. She loved to shop, and she also loved decorating for the Christmas holiday, especially Christmas trees. She also enjoyed decorating for Halloween and enjoyed the Alloway parade. She was a perfectionist; everything at home had to be just right. She was a member of the Alloway Fire Company Auxiliary. Most important to Gail was her family whom she loved more than anything.

Gail is survived by her husband of 63 years, who she married on October 17, 1964, Charles Shute; her daughter & son-in-law, Kelly & Chad Everwine; her grandchildren, Allyson (Zach) and Wesley (Dana); six great-grandchildren; her sisters, Thelma Johnson, Shirley Abhau, Georgetta Pierson, Lorraine Osborn (Chick); and Carol Jean Drummond (Russell); her sisters-in-law, Louise Vanaman and Doris Vanaman; and many nieces and nephews. Obituary Preview: Dr. Edward (Ted) H. White, Jr., formerly of Woodstown, NJ and Hydeville, VT, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 25, 2024. He was 81 years old.

Ted was born in Quincy, Massachusetts to Geraldine (Queen) and Edward H. White, Sr. He was a 1960 graduate of Norwell High School (MA) and earned a BA from Keene State College (NH), a MS from Indiana State University (IN), and a PhD. from the University of Maryland at College Park (MD). For over 30 years he taught at Rowan University (Glassboro State College). During his tenure, he chaired the Department of Educational Administration and was instrumental in the establishment of its PhD program. Upon his retirement from Rowan University in May 2000, Ted continued to consult to school districts across the state of New Jersey, offering his expertise in school leadership and evaluation.

Ted was a member of the Pittsgrove Presbyterian Church in Daretown, NJ where he faithfully served as Clerk of Session for 20 years and sang in the choir. In his younger years he volunteered with the Daretown Volunteer Fire Department and the Salem County Democratic Committee. When wintering during retirement in Frostproof, FL he attended Union Congregational Church in Avon Park, FL where he also sang in the choir and supported its various community outreach programs. An avid traveler he and his wife traveled to many destinations across the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico, and led RV caravans for Tracks to Adventure. His favorite vacation spot was always the family home on Lake Bomoseen in Vermont, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, swimming, and the view of the beautiful Green Mountains.

Ted is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Christina (Craven), daughters Melissa Johnson (Charles), Heather Tardel (Matthew) and Carrie Gray (Patrick), foster-daughter Justine Cheang, grandchildren Couper, Neil, Claire, Patrick, and Gavin, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by both parents, his sister Joan Blemings and his brothers Arthur and Frederick White.

He is survived by his two sons, Brett and Bradley, his daughter-in-law Heidi Rowand, and grandson Brett Rowand Jr. Frank is also survived by his sister Kathy R. Jones, her husband Dave Jones, along with his nieces Jennifer Jones and Kimberly Imas, and nephew David Jones. He shared a special bond with his dear friend Barbara Stiles. Bud was predeceased by his parents, Mabel and Frank F. Rowand Sr.

Bud dedicated many years of his life to Anchor Glass Company in Salem, NJ, where he worked until his retirement in 2007.

Proudly serving his country, Bud was a veteran of the Army and the Vietnam War (1964-1970). He also served as a past Chief of the Alloway Township Fire Department.

In his leisure time, Bud found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time outdoors, particularly in his garage and tending to the grass. He cherished attending car shows with his friends, showcasing his restored 1989 Chevy Blazer and 1999 Chevy Tahoe. Family vacations to Lake George, NY, camping trips, and boating excursions on the Chesapeake were among his most treasured pastimes. Bud had a passion for coaching, having mentored his two sons in grade school basketball, and in recent years, took immense pride in watching his grandson excel in wrestling.

Pat was born, raised and educated in Chester, Pa. where she went into the banking industry at American Eagle Savings and Loan. After many years, Pat became a loan processor at Franklin Bank in Woodstown, NJ.

Pat was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was all about spending time with her family and watching the Philadelphia Eagles. On most weekends, Pat spent her time at the baseball diamond watching her grandsons play baseball or at horse shows watching her granddaughters compete.

Pat is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert Clements; her daughter Lori Bunting of Pilesgrove, NJ; grandsons Evan and Tyler Bunting; daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Nathaniel Flook of Orangeville, PA; granddaughters Nadia and Keira Flook; sisters Diane Volturo of West Chester, PA and Gina Kozlowski of Aston, PA and mother Regina Czarnota of Aston, PA. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Czarnota, and son-in-law, Thomas Bain Bunting.

Obituary Preview: Grace Allen Quirk, 89, formerly of Pennsville, NJ, passed away from a lengthy illness on February 16, 2024 with her husband, Frank, and their oldest daughter by her side.

In Graces younger years she participated in high school band and sports and enjoyed roller skating at the Riverview Beach Park. She became a skilled bowler, sometimes traveling distances to participate in bowling tournaments.

Grace made many great memories with family, friends and neighbors. She served the community in many ways including caring for neighbors children and as a troop leader for local girl scouts.

Grace will always be remembered for her devotion, generosity and contributions to her family, friends, those in need, activities and get-togethers.

The family recalls fun times from when Grace would reel in the largest flounder of the season in Avalon, NJ, to having the tender touch of comforting a crying baby when no one else could. She and her husband, Frank, enjoyed traveling on vacations with their family. Grace and her husband passed on the joy of fishing and boating with their daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grace is survived by her husband, Frank, of almost seventy years, daughters, Linda (George), Sharon (Harry), Brenda (Glenn), five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to BAYADA Hospice Care.

Memorial Mass and celebration of the life of Grace will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 29th in the St. Josephs Catholic Church, 51 Broad St., Woodstown, NJ, for those that wish to attend.

Obituary Preview: WILLIAM LEWIS LITTLE, SR., was born on August 7, 1932, in Metter, Georgia, to Kezzie Lanier. He preferred to be called by his nickname, Mack. He talked about his childhood living in Charleston, Missouri, and then moving to Louisiana and other places. At some point, the family settled in Chester, Pennsylvania. It was in Chester that Mack eventually met Loretta Jane Bagley. They got married on November 18, 1951, and had four children together. Mack served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Berlin, Germany, during part of the time he spent in the military service.

Mack was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 28, 1965. It was one of the happiest events of his life, when he symbolized his dedication to his God, Jehovah. He never wanted to stop learning about Jehovah. He was always eager to talk about the things he learned about Bible prophecies and Jehovah’s promises for the future paradise earth. He also had an enduring love for his Christian family in the Salem, New Jersey, congregation, where he has always served Jehovah.

Mack was a quiet man who would rather observe what was going on around him than engage in conversation. But once he was comfortable, he did not stay silent. He loved joking with family and friends and having a good laugh. Although his secular education was limited, he did not limit his ability to learn useful skills. He bought, and thoroughly studied, several sets of books and taught himself the skills he needed to be a carpenter, mason, plumber, and electrician. He could build a house from the ground up. On the other hand, he could also sew an outfit without a pattern, make bed quilts, and he could do men and women’s hair. He liked oil painting, gardening and archery. He just really loved learning new things. He was smart and curious and was a hard worker throughout his life. But his favorite pastime was fishing. Yes, you could often find him and his good friend, Lucas Brice, relaxing around some local fishing hole. When he knew he was going fishing, he would try to get phone numbers of the friends to see if they wanted a share of the catch.

Mack leaves behind to cherish fond memories his daughters, Lori L. Little; Monica Little-Slack (and her husband Thomas); and his grandson, Jonathan A. Little. He also leaves behind his sister, Geraldine Lewis, and his brothers, Wilfred Lee Holland and Gradell Holland, along with his dear aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Passionate about nature, Kathy loved the sunshine gleaming on her face. She sang with the birds, tended to her garden, and protected all Gods creatures.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Eric Schutz; two daughters, Cheyenne & Brandy Schutz; one granddaughter, Lucinda “Lucy” Schutz; three sisters; a brother; and twelve nieces & nephews.

Obituary Preview: Harold B. Dolbow, Sr., age 75 of Carneys Point, died Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Inspira Hospital in Mannington.

Born in Salem, son of the late Wayne John Sr. & Barbara Olive (Foster) Dolbow, Hal was raised in Pennsville. He was a graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School and was a US Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He had worked at DuPont Chambers Works from the age of 18 until his retirement after over 30 years of service. He married Marsha (nee Attix) on April 20, 1972.

Hal enjoyed watching Pennsville High School baseball, softball, and wrestling. He also enjoyed reading, collecting rare coins, and watching college football. He spent time with his family and friends going out to dinner, vacationing, and making day trips to Lancaster. An avid bowler, he once bowled a perfect game. He loved Star Wars, the movies and the books. Donuts at the Amish Market were a favorite of his. He enjoyed watching drag racing at Atco Raceway.

Hal is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marsha, his son, Harold Jr.; his daughter & son-in-law, Kristen & John Pelura; his first cousins, Rosemary Cowan, Patricia DiSantis, Cherry Bertles, and Sharon Peden; his brothers-in-law, Gary Attix(Susie) and Timothy Attix; his sister-in-law, Tammy Catalano(Michael); and several nieces and nephews. Gene was a retired Production Superintendent, having dedicated 37 years of his life to VPI Mirrex in Delaware City, DE. He excelled in his career and retired in 2003. Gene was a hardworking and dedicated individual who left a lasting impact on his colleagues.

Outside of work, Gene had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. Nature was his sanctuary, and he found solace in spending time surrounded by its beauty. One of his favorite places to visit was Rangeley, Maine, where he and his wife, Marietta Moore Coll, spent many memorable vacations throughout the seasons. Gene formed lifelong friendships in Rangeley and cherished the memories made there.

Genes family was his pride and joy. He was a devoted husband to Marietta for 58 years and a loving father to his daughters, Darla (Lester) Coll Shimp and Melissa (Chris) Coll Foster. He adored his grandchildren, Ashley (Caleb) Gerlock Kenyon, Joshua (Ondrea) Gerlock, Parker Shimp, Rachel Foster, and Katherine Foster. Gene also had six great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He was a caring and supportive brother-in-law to Lauren Moore Sr. Gene leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Gene is preceded in death by his daughter, Darla Coll Shimp, his mother-in-law, Alice L Moore, his father-in-law, Ralph Moore, his father, Elmer C Coll, his mother, Erma M (Younker) Coll, and his sister, Janice (Coll) Arquer, and brother-in-law, Ted Arquer.

She is also survived by grandchildren, David Edward (Ted) Williams of Santa Barbara, CA, Alison Williams of Seattle, WA, and Shane Curry (Courtney) and their sons Benjamin and Jacob of Cinnaminson, NJ. Sister in-law Ann Nieukirk also survives.

Jean was a school bus driver for Upper Pittsgrove Twp. for 35 years, Court Clerk for 20 years and participated in a number of church and community activities. In her leisure, Jean enjoyed the beach in Ocean City, NJ, snow skiing, golfing and biking. Together with Dick and other family members they traveled to many states to enjoy these activities.

Obituary Preview: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one, Richard “Bill” Mortimer on Monday, January 1, 2024.

Bill passed peacefully in his sleep at Mullica Hill Inspira after a hard-fought battle with kidney complications. He was a longtime resident of Woodstown but had lived in Alloway for the last 36 years. Bill had just turned 76 on December 1st.

He was known to his large clan of cousins from coast to coast as the “soft-spoken” Mortimer, was admired for his strength and grace through a lifetime of physical discomforts and was a role model to us all in the art of aging gracefully.

He is survived by his constant companion and steadfast wife, Marilyn (Welch), his brother, Dave (Carolyn), and his sister, Bonnie (Roggio).

He was predeceased by his parents, Dick and Millie Mortimer, and his sister, Elaine (Shidner).

Bill was a graduate of Woodstown High School Class of 1965.

Always one to honor friendship, Bill still counts his childhood neighbors from North Main Street and his classmates from high school as lifelong friends.

He was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company of Millville as a claims processor for many years but if asked, would more likely say his favorite full-time job was supporting his local professional sports teams: the Eagles, the Phillies, the Flyers, and the 76ers.

Bill was a keen supporter of the up-and-coming athletes as well and attended many minor league ball games and the Flyer’s minor leagues Bears games in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Bill’s countless first cousins, second cousins, nieces and nephews, and the great-nieces and nephews too, marvel at his collection of magazines, newspaper articles, posters, and memorabilia on display in his sports room. He was a great sports conversationalist and could share some wonderful stories filled with knowledge and sports trivia.

Always an avid woodworker in his garage - turned - workshop, Bill discovered a hidden talent in recent years. He picked up a paintbrush and began painting his beloved sports teams‘ logos and mascots on rustic barn boards and hand-built birdhouses and garden/Christmas ornaments. He became a familiar figure at local craft festivals, and the countless gifts that he had shared with family and friends of all generations have now become more cherished than ever.

But everyone who knew Bill best would probably agree his happiest place was heading across a bay driving the fishing boat he owned for many-many years. He and Marilyn pilgrimaged to Ocean City, New Jersey every summer, and his boat was always docked in the local boat yard waiting for him and his fishing buddies to head out to open waters for flounder, stripers and bluefish. Not only did he love fishing he was darn good at it too. His generous heart was there again when he passed out fresh fish upon his return to town.

Family meant everything to Bill. His final peaceful hours were spent looking over photographs on family Christmas cards and admiring a hand colored get well card, then chatting with the family matriarch, Miss Patsy, leading us all from Louisiana, with her wisdom, guidance and love.

Bill will be remembered for the great big heart he always wore on his sleeve and redefines the family motto, MORTIMER STRONG.

We will miss his keen and constant interest in all of the nieces and nephews school and sports activities. Lucky was the child who knew him as a baseball coach in his younger years. He was always ready to watch a game, attend a game or coach a game, and now the family imagines him sprinting around those bases like he always wanted to do.

Fly, Bill, fly.

Heaven now has another angel in the outfield.

Throughout her life, Angela was a devoted Reiki practitioner, providing healing and comfort to those in need. She also hosted Course of Miracles study groups, guiding others on their spiritual journeys. Angelas passion for helping children led her to work as a child advocate in Gloucester County and with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, making a positive impact on the lives of countless young individuals.

Angelas bravery and determination were evident in her co-authorship of the book, “The Bicycle Repair Shop” alongside her close friend Todd Pressman. Through this powerful story, Angela shared her personal journey of overcoming adversity, inspiring others with her resilience and strength.

Angela will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering spirit, selflessness, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others will continue to inspire and guide us. May her soul find eternal peace as she embarks on her next chapter.

He is predeceased by his parents, John F. and Lillian Kuhn, brothers John (Jack) Kuhn and Paul Kuhn. Jerry will be missed by several nieces and nephews, many friends and his dog Lainey.

Jerry was born and raised in Michigan but made New Jersey his home since 1985 due to a job transfer. Woodstown has been his home for the past 20 years. He was employed in retail management then later worked as a merchandiser within the grocery industry for Acosta Sales & Marketing for 15 years. Jerry not wanting to stay retired worked part time at ShopRite Mullica Hill as a Shop From Home shopper. He loved his job, his coworkers, management and customers. A day didnt go by that he didn’t see someone he knew or was helpful to a customer. He always took the time greet everyone with a smile. Everyone knew Jerry.

Jerry was a devoted member of The Catholic Community of The Holy Spirit Parish where he was a lector. He was in the Knights of Columbus Woodstown and their Treasurer for many years. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Msgr. John S. Griffey Assembly. The spiritual fulfillment and bonds that he formed with this Knight brothers uplifted him during his illness.

Jerry had a passion for cooking all of his life and even created some of his own unique recipes. He was “king of the leftovers”. He took leftover anything and made it into a delicious new meal. When he wasn’t cooking, he was reading cookbooks or watching cooking shows on television.

He had expert knowledge and skill with gardening and every year planted a vegetable garden in the yard. No matter how busy he found time to work in his garden. Landscaping around the house and planting and maintaining his trees and bushes were something you always saw Jerry outside doing until he was unable to physically. Then he took on the management role and tried training his wife, Lynda how to carry on his work.

What gave him the most pleasure were his beloved companions-his Weimaraners that owned him over the years. He could always be seen walking either Sasha or Gracie around the neighborhood and met many new people and stopped to chat with neighbors.

Jerry was easy going, friendly and helpful. He always introduced himself to make people feel welcome and comfortable. He enjoyed the simple things in life mostly just spending time with Lynda and his dogs at home.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 29th at 11:00am with Visitation beginning at 10:00am until Mass at The Catholic Community of The Holy Spirit Woodstown Parish, Center 2 Lamplighter Drive, Woodstown NJ 08098.

He toiled tirelessly to provide his loved ones with a life filled with love and abundance. His heart belonged to the fields where his love for farming blossomed into a source of pride for him. If he wasn’t farming his own land or milking cows, he would always be helping someone else. James leaves behind a legacy of hard work, sacrifice, and the cherished memories of a family blessed by his boundless love. May his commitment to family and the land inspire generations to come.

A true “Hunt” he loved to party and always wanted to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves. People gravitated to his generous and kind nature.

Albert was a dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and member of the local community. A kind man with a light-hearted sense of humor, Albert grew up in Pilesgrove and worked on the Goforth family farm his entire life. He instilled an appreciation for farming and hard work into many who knew him, especially his children and grandchildren, many of whom enjoyed spending time on the farm with Albert. The grandchildren unanimously enjoyed visiting the farm for the pre-lunch viewing of the Price is Right and especially for the after-lunch naps. He had a childlike excitement for his tractors and even when he was no longer able to operate heavy machinery, he still felt great joy from riding his lawn mower. The only thing that Albert loved more than his farm and his tractors was his family and especially his late wife and life partner, Jean. They enjoyed motorhome trips and many bus trips with their loved ones throughout the years. Albert also had a competitive and playful side and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, particularly pinochle and later on solitaire, and entertaining his grandkids with his highly-sought-after blocks set. Later in life, when Albert was not on the farm or out playing cards, he could be found with Jean at the Point 40 Diner or Woodstown Diner where they were regulars and daily staples of early morning coffee conversation on the town happenings and most importantly, the weather. Both he and Jean enjoyed going to their respective class reunions to connect with classmates from years past.

Albert is survived by his daughters, Judith Hitchner (Ken), Joann Lauff, Joyce Skradzinski, and Janet Crouse (Paul) and his son, Albert D. III (Joy); fourteen grandchildren, Kenny (Rossy), Kate (Greg), Andy (Liane), Kyle, (Sarah), Chris (Kelly), Raymond (Alison), Brian (Cherokee), Alex (Missie), Alan (Angie), Patricia (DJ), Becca (Josh), Jennifer, Michele (Ryan) and Jessica, one niece and five nephews, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She had also served as Union Shop Steward, and in 1996, she was awarded Checker of the Year. A true country girl, she and her husband enjoyed snowmobiling locally and were enthusiastic fishers, and hunters of deer, rabbit, squirrel and local fowl. They enjoyed making meals from all that they hunted and caught. Over time, Aunt Ruth and Uncle Al became the matriarch and patriarch of the Smith family. She is survived by her nieces and nephews and their families, and her dear friends and neighbors. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Edgar L. & Jane (Reeve) Burgess, and her brothers, George and Joe.
