Dean was born in Springfield, IL. And served in the US Army during both WWII and the Korean War.
He moved to Sarasota from Decatur, IL in 1960 and worked for Sears in both Illinois and Sarasota, retiring in 1987 after 42 years of working with many wonderful people and many fond memories.
Dean was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Margaret in 2002 and is survived by his son, Larry (Jeanne) and several nieces and a nephew.
There will be no local services.
A graveside service will be held in Moweaqua, IL on Saturday March 25, 2017.

He was Respiratory Therapist before retiring.
He was a veteran serving with the U. S. Army.
Robert is survived by his sister, Susan Freed, brother and sister in law, David and Marion Wetcher; several nieces and nephews and several young adults who Bob considered his grandchildren. He was preceded by his wives, Julie in 1991 and Doris DeWees in 2015 and his daughter, Amy Sullivan in 2009

Devoted husband of the late Helen “Sissy” Clark; beloved father of Bernard of Saint Paul, MN and Yvonne, Patrick (Bernice) and Terence (Rene), all of Sarasota; cherished PapPap and #1 fan of Katie, T, Jake, Sophia, Paddy and Helena and their countless teammates.
One of eight children of Bronislaw and Antonina Hebda, he served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War.
He retired from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette as a mailer in 1990.
Friends will be welcomed from 5-8 pm, Tuesday , at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Gulf Gate Chapel, 6903 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 22, at 10:30 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 5394 Midnight Pass Road.
A committal service will be held at 2:00 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Mary Pacifico, age 96, died at home in Sarasota, Florida March 4, 2017. Mary was born Maria DeMarco on May 12, 1920 in New York City, the daughter of the late Luigi DeMarco and Assunta (Rizzo) DeMarco.
Mary was a seamstress prior to marrying her late husband of 63 years, Frank Pacifico. After marriage they moved to Brooklyn, New York where they raised two of their three children, Phyllis (deceased) and Frank. The family moved to Long Island shortly thereafter. Mary worked along side her husband Frank in their family decorating business making slipcovers and draperies, and in later years managed their family rental properties. Mary gave birth to a third child, Laura, while on Long Island. Over the years Mary also raised multiple foster children. Mary’s life was dedicated to her husband and family.
Survived by her brother Louis DeMarco (wife Connie), brother-in-law Natale Grillo, her son-in-law Robert von Hollen along with grandson John von Hollen (wife Bobbi) and granddaughter Patricia von Hollen, son Frank Pacifico (wife Betty) and grandchildren Peter and Andrew Pacifico, Matthew, Margie and Shane Waldron, daughter Laura Mercandetti (husband Michael), grandchildren Gianna and Christopher Mercandetti, and many other relatives and dear friends.
Services will be held at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 6903 Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida 34231, Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 9 am to 11 am. Funeral mass to follow at 11:30 a.m. at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, Florida 34231.

She had bravely battled ovarian cancer for the past 2 and a half years.
Born in Rockford, Illinois, she was the daughter of Raymond and Joan Mazur.
Diane attended Rock Valley College where she majored in Accounting and graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantitative Business Analysis in 1977. She moved to Sarasota, Florida after graduation.
Diane worked in the mortgage loan business for many years and then for the Department of Revenue for the State of Florida. She enjoyed pulling for the Buccaneers and loved watching tennis.
She is survived by her father, Ray Mazur, her sisters, Denise (Dennis) Korinke and Debbie (Kurt) Schmehl, brother-in-law Dale (Cookie) Scully, brother-in-law Neil (Karen) Scully, sister-in-law Diane (Mike) Marcus, her nephews Ryan (Kim) Korinke, Joel (Heather) Schmehl, Brad Schmehl, D. Patrick Scully , Aiden (Andrea) Sizemore, Bradley Scully; nieces Janet (Dave) Barnes, Mary Scully, Lindsay Scully, her great nephews Jax and Jay and great nieces Railey and Tyrrah.
She was predeceased by her mother, Joan Mazur, her husband Glenn Scully and nephew Jordan Korinke.
A memorial service will take place at Toale Brothers Gulf Gate Chapel located at 6903 South Tamiami Trail, on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 6:00 PM.

Brigadier General (retired) Edwin Lyle Kennedy - August 06, 1927 - January 11, 2017

Obituary Preview: Brigadier General (retired) Edwin Lyle Kennedy was born on August 6, 1927, in Waynesboro, Mississippi to Enoch and Eddye (Huggins) Kennedy. His early childhood was spent in Waynesboro but during the Great Depression his father’s job as a State Highway Engineer took them to several locations throughout the state. In 1940, the family settled in Gulfport, Mississippi where BrigGen Kennedy attended high school through the 11th grade. After his father was commissioned in the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII, BrigGen Kennedy completed his high school education at Marion Military Institute. In 1945, BrigGen Kennedy served in the US Navy until he received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Upon graduating from West Point in 1950, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and sent to Korea as a platoon leader in the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. For his service in Korea, Lt Kennedy was awarded two Silver Stars, three Bronze Stars (with “Valor” device), and a Purple Heart Medal among other awards.
Returning stateside in 1951, Lt Kennedy was first stationed at Fort Jackson, SC where he met his future wife, Dolly Dean Beard. Their military travels took them to assignments around the world, first of which was Ankara Turkey, where the couple’s first two children, Edwin Jr and Catherine were born. Some years later while stationed at West Point, their third child, David, was born. In 1965, he was promoted to Lt Colonel and was selected for the British Joint Services Staff College where, upon graduating, commanded an infantry battalion in the US Berlin Brigade. After his tour in Berlin, Lt Col Kennedy was selected for the US War College at Carlisle, PA. From there, Lt Col Kennedy served an extended tour of duty in Vietnam where he commanded the largest Army combat brigade, the 196th Light Infantry Brigade and was subsequently promoted to colonel. He returned to the US to command the 197th Infantry Brigade at Fort Benning GA followed by an assignment to serve in the Army’s Senate Liaison Office in Washington, DC.
It was during his tenure as a Senate Liaison Officer that Col. Kennedy was promoted to Brigadier General. BrigGen Kennedy was then assigned as an assistant division commander of the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. After his two year assignment, he went on to Camp Zama, Japan for his final military service as Chief of Staff, US Army Japan for three years. At the conclusion of his military service he had been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal (highest peacetime military award), two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Silver Stars, seven Bronze Stars (Valor), and a Purple Heart Medal.
After 30 years of distinguished military service, BrigGen and Mrs Kennedy moved to Sarasota in 1979 where BrigGen Kennedy worked as the Vice President of Construction for a local development company. He continued to enjoy his hobby from childhood, fishing, as well as playing golf.
In 2009, BrigGen Kennedy was awarded the Order of St Maurice for his outstanding contributions to the Army’s Infantry Branch by General David Petraeus.
Throughout his career as a military officer, BrigGen Kennedy never lost sight of the most important part of his life, his family. He adored Dolly and was a devoted father to his children providing them a unique opportunity to travel the world.
Until his passing, BrigGen Kennedy lived in the Oaks with his devoted son, golfing companion, and avid sports fan, David. It is great comfort to his family knowing that BrigGen Kennedy has joined his wife Dolly, and their second child, Catherine, in Heaven. Edwin is survived by his two sons, LtCol (Ret) Edwin L. Kennedy (Christine) of New Market, Alabama and David B. Kennedy of Osprey, FL, grandsons, Justin, David, and Geoffrey and their children, his youngest brother, Dr William R. Kennedy (Susan) of Sarasota, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted in Sarasota at the Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Gulf Gate Chapel, Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. with viewing and visitation at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Eric Want of Freedom Christian Church will be officiating.

Thomas Bernard Kilduff - July 04, 1932 - January 09, 2017

Obituary Preview: Thomas ‘Tom’ Kilduff of Siesta Key, Florida, formerly of Yonkers, New York, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2017 at the age of 84 after a short illness.
Tom was born on July 4, 1932 in Yonkers, New York to Rose Ellen ‘Nellie’ (Keon) and Patrick Kilduff. He attended Commerce High School and upon graduation (1951) joined the US Air Force and served in the Korean War. Tom was a member of the Dock Builders Local 1456 in NYC, and the Yonkers Motor Cycle Club.
Tom married the love of his life, Paula, on July 9th, 1960. They were married for 56 years and they had six children: Thomas, Karen, Michael, Rose Ellen, Nicholas and Sean.
They began their family in Yonkers NY where they were parishioners of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In 1987, Tom and Paula moved to Siesta Key, FL where they became active parishioners of St. Michael the Arch Angel Catholic Church.
Tom and his brother, Walter, were the co-owners of the Sunshine Inn (Bradenton). Tom was a skilled carpenter who enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the trade, and will be remembered for his wit, humor, love of Frank Sinatra music, old movies and history.
Tom is survived by his wife, Paula; his sisters Patricia Kiley and Eileen Kennedy; his sons, Thomas and Sean; daughters, Karen (Ray) O’Toole and Rose Ellen (Clyde) Alstrom; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sons, Michael and Nicholas and brothers, Walter and James ‘Jimmy’.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan 11 from 3-7pm at Toale Brothers Funeral Home; 6903 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

Norman Douglas Boardman, Jr. - October 01, 1932 - December 08, 2016

Obituary Preview: Norman Douglas Boardman, Jr., 84, passed away Thursday, December 8th, 2016 at his home in Sarasota, Florida. He was born on October 1st, 1932 in West Hartford, Connecticut to Norman Douglas Boardman and Elizabeth Collins Boardman. He grew up in East Haddam, Connecticut, graduated from Nathan Hale-Ray School in Moodus, Connecticut and The University of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While at Penn he was a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity, played soccer, rowed lightweight crew, and was a member of the University of Pennsylvania Glee Club. Upon graduation from Penn’s Wharton School, he enlisted in the Army. Subsequently, after his tour he went to work for The Hartford. After a number of positions in the Home Office and in the Field, he returned to Hartford where he spent his later years deeply involved in Field Operations. As a young man he was a major participant in Masonic activities, was a Past Master of Columbia Lodge No. 26(now Granite No. 118), Past Chapter High Priest, Past District Deputy of the Grand Lodge of Connecticut, Seventh District. He was a member of Sphinx Shrine. An avid outdoorsman, he belonged to the Kingdom Game Club and The Limestone Trout Club. His interest in fly fishing took him (and many times his wife and son) on numerous
adventures throughout the United States, Canada, Alaska, and locations abroad including Central and South America, Europe, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand.
Tennis was an important part of his life. He belonged to the Hop Brook Tennis Club, Simsbury, Connecticut, and The Serendipity Racquet Club and The Tournament Players Club, both of Sarasota, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Francie (Masters) Boardman; a son, Norman Douglas Boardman, III and his wife Cherise Lynn Boardman; two grandchildren, Norman Douglas Boardman, IV and Ashley Marie Boardman; and two step grandchildren, Michael Anthony Mathews Jr., and Tyler Colby Mathews, all of Doswell, Virginia.
Friends may call at Toale Brothers Gulf Gate Chapel, 6903 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida on Tuesday December 20th between 6pm And 8pm.
A Requiem Mass will be held at the Church of the Redeemer, 222 South Palm Avenue, Sarasota, Florida on Wednesday, December 21st at 2pm.
Burial will be in West Simsbury, CT at a later date.

Patricia Helen Donovan - October 04, 1927 - November 16, 2016

Obituary Preview: Patricia Helen Donovan, formerly Patricia Helen Hasselhorn, born on October 4, 1927 in Chicago, passed away on Wednesday evening, November 16, 2016 due to complications arising from cancer and several recent falls.
Patricia was married to John V. Donovan in Evanston, Illinois shortly after WWII. She went on to help John Donovan start his company, Intercon Research Associates, in Evanston, where she provided valuable guidance and advice, as well as arranging social functions. As a longtime resident of Wilmette, Pat was a very active participant in the Women's Club of Wilmette and the Women's League of Independent Voters. Her college career started at William & Mary, which she attended for two years before graduating from Rockford University with a BA in English Literature and a fellowship to the University of Chicago.
Pat was an avid reader, historian, and a tremendous mother to her sons James, Timothy and Walter, two of whom still reside in the Wilmette area. She was also very close to John Donovan's sister Rosemary Killermann and her 7 children, whom resided in her household at different times.
Pat had a great love of music, history, culture, and travel. She traveled extensively around the world, both independently and with her husband, having traveled to over 100 countries to see key archaeological sites in Europe, Asia, the Middle East as well as South and Central America.
Pat was known to all of her friends for her great generosity and compassion, which fueled her selfless desire to help others in need. She was a generous and beautiful woman of unparalleled intelligence who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Especially by her sons, her grandson, granddaughters and daughter-in-law Jane Donovan, who became the tremendous chef that she is now through the family recipes that were passed on from Pat. Pat threw wonderful parties and always cooked everything herself on a truly gourmet level as she picked up cooking techniques through her travels around the world. We know that she shall rest in peace and thrive in the afterlife. With our true blessings and thanks to Patricia and all that she brought to everyone's life.

A Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 22, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church, 7750 Beneva Road.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Spano Antonio, his surviving sister, Myrna Antonio-Hall, and his 4 children and their respective spouses: Rene (Antonio) and Terence Hebda, Laura (Brinker) and Bernard Antonio, Amy (Mullig) and Craig Antonio and Sally (Gorisek) and Todd "Rico" Antonio, his 9 grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Terence and Jake Hebda, Nicholas and Joseph Antonio, Livia and Maria Antonio and Francesca and Carmella Antonio.
Bernie was born on May 11, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA to Pete and Wilma Antonio. He was a 1959 graduate of South Hills High School, married Patty Spano in 1963 and lived happily in Pittsburgh, PA for 48 years before residing to Sarasota, FL for the last 5 years.
Bernie was known to most as "Coach". "Coaching is a profession of love, you can't coach people unless you love them." In his 50 years of coaching Bernie loved each and every one of his players and had a unique way of touching everyone he interacted with. Bernie coached many teams including Seton La Salle football, Bethel Park recreation football, St. Louise football and basketball, BBA baseball, and most recently Sarasota Sun Devil football.
Bernie also enjoyed golf, fishing and, most of all, spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 6903 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231 on Thursday, October 13 12:00 – 2:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
A mass will take place at 9:30 am on Friday, October 14 at St. Martha's Catholic Church, 200 N. Orange Ave, Sarasota, FL 34236.
A memorial service is being planned on Friday, December 9 at St. Louise de Marillac in Pittsburgh, PA.

She was born on May 29, 1935 in Stevens Point, WI to Walter and Ruth (Jaquish) Densch. Altanette grew up in Wisconsin and after graduating from high school 1954 she attended Nursing school in Madison, WI. She began work at a local hospital as a nurse where she met her future husband Roger J. Allard while caring for him. They were happily married for 22 years, moving often and lived in 7 states until settling in Acton MA. She worked as a nurse at Suburban Manor for 24 years. She retired in 2001 and moved to Sarasota FL.
Altanette was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger, brother Bill Densch and nephew Daniel Densch. Altanette is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jeanne and Cody Sisson, of Northfield MA, son Pierre Allard of Lompoc CA, brother and sister-in-law Carl and Mary Densch of Simpsonville, SC, sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Steve Kuzman of Sarasota FL, her grandchildren Cassandra Sisson, Reed Sisson and Bailey Sisson, her great-grandchild Weston, and several nieces.
A celebration of life will be held at the Gulf Gate Chapel, 6903 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota at 11:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann and his five children, Rosemarie, Michael, Kathleen, Therese and Thomas. John and Ruth were married on Nov 16, 1962.
He received a MD from Suny in 1963, PHD in 1968 and a JD from Fordham University in 1977. John was an Associate medical director at Ayers Labs, a division of American Home Products in Wilmington DE 1973-75, director clinical research from 1975-76, VP Clinical 1977, VP Science 1978-82, executive VP 1983-88. President of Mullane Health Care Cons. 1989. Director of drug development at DuPont Med. Products, 1990, Sr VP 1991-94. Executive VP Amylin Pharms. 1994-96. He contributed articles to professional journals. Served to Lt. Col US Army 1970-73. Recipient of the Upjohn Achievement award in 1970. NY Heart Assoc. Crawford-Maynard fellow 1966-68. Fellow Am Coll Clin Pharmacology. Member of ABA, Am Soc Clin Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Am. Assn. Study of Liver Disease. Achievements included development of major drugs including Inderal, Premarin, Lodine, Coumadin and Cozaar.
He was a loyal parishioner at St. Patrick’s church.
He was an avid golfer at The Founders Club.

Obituary Preview: Jack Veeger, 90, of Sarasota, FL, passed away on August 13, 2016. A husband, poet, world traveler, avid cribbage player and lover of words, Jack was born August 2, 1926 in the Netherlands.
He volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant/ Interpreter following the liberation of the Netherlands in 1945 and graduated from the University of Nijmegen in 1946 with a degree in journalism. He emigrated to the United States in 1953, settling in Chicago, Illinois, where he met his wife, Isabella “Bobby” Roberts; they married in 1957.
He launched his own company, International Trade Corporation, Inc, in 1963, a career that took him and his family abroad often. He and his wife moved to Sarasota in 1980, a community that he embraced as his hometown for over 35 years. Following retirement in 1995, Jack and Bobby satisfied their wanderlust by traveling the world, including all 7 continents. Retirement also afforded him the opportunity to rediscover his passion for writing, and he became a prolific poet, writing over 40 volumes of poetry, including “Sarasota - A Tribute in Verse and Vision” and a recently completed autobiography in free verse called “An Odyssey Quite Mine”. He was active in the community as a volunteer and board member at Resurrection House for the homeless and Gloria Musicae Choral Artists of Sarasota.
Jack is survived by his wife of 58 years, his children Martin Veeger, of Sarasota, and Anne Veeger (Patrick Craft), of West Kingston, RI, grandchildren Alex and Sarah Craft, and niece Lila Roberts of St. Louis.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday August 20, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM with a celebration of life service to follow at 3:00 PM at Toale Brothers Funeral Homes, Gulf Gate Chapel, 6903 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
The family has requested dress casual, colorful dress is appropriate for this celebratory event.

He was born on May 25, 1943 in Arlington SD to Clair and Verna Koch. He grew up on a farm near Hetland, South Dakota with his siblings Larry, Bruce, and Kay. He graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1961 and continued his education at Yankton College in which he graduated in 1969 with an Accounting Degree. After graduation he went on to work at Northwestern Public Service where he retired after 30 years of service. He married Patricia Myers on September 7, 2002. He was blessed with four children, Lori, Jeff, and Todd and stepson Michael.
During his Senior year of college, he was awarded the National Observer Award for outstanding academics. He resided in Yankton, South Dakota where he was very active in fast pitch softball as a pitcher, coaching little league baseball, in which he was honored with Coach of the Year, and he was a member of the Elks Lodge for over 50 years. He retired to Sarasota Florida in 2001. He enjoyed golfing and his 12 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Patricia (Sarasota, Florida); his children Lori (Jeff Huitema), Jeff (Stacy Koch), Todd (Deb Koch) and Michael; his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his brother Bruce (Pat Koch).
He is preceded in death by his parents Clair and Verna Koch; siblings Larry Koch and Kay Anderson.
His Celebration of Life will be June 21, 2016 at 11 am at Toale Brothers Gulf Gate Chapel in Sarasota Florida with Stephen Winemiller officiating.

Tim was born on 8 April 1964 in Smithtown NY to James and Alice Jessup. He was a graduate of Ward Melville HS in Setauket NY in 1982 and was an Army Veteran. Upon leaving the Army Tim settled in Florida in 1990 and worked for Asplundh Tree where he was a regional supervisor for 25 years.
Tim was an accomplished Athlete excelling in softball and weight training. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and everything Cowboy related, often traveling to Dallas for multiple games during a season. He was a generous individual who loved to be amongst his family and friends and who was passionate about Veteran affairs. Tim had a great sense of humor and was never afraid to laugh at himself first. To be around him was usually a mix of sharp wit and satire, if you were not prepared you could easily have to bear the brunt of the conversation. He was an active and dedicated member of the Wounded Warrior project.
A viewing is scheduled for 2pm – 4pm and 6pm - 8pm on 22nd June 2016 at Toale Brothers Funeral home 6903 Tamiami Trail Sarasota Florida 34231, Mass will be held at St Thomas More Catholic Church 2506 Gulf Gate Drive Sarasota 34231 at 9:30am 23 June 2016 with a burial to follow at Sarasota National Cemetery at 11:30am. Rosemary’s love of traveling out west and camping in State and National Parks were only surpassed by her love and faithfulness to her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was formerly the president of Sarasota Christian Women’s Club and established several weekly bible study classes in various mobile home parks in Sarasota and Osprey County’s. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 6 PM-7:30 PM followed by the funeral service Friday, May 20, 2016 at 10 AM. Both will take place at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Gulf Gate Chapel, 6903 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota Florida. Burial will be held at Sarasota Memorial Park following service.

Gaye moved to Sarasota with her family in 1959 and later spent time living in California and Kentucky before returning home to Sarasota in the late 1970s. She was employed in secretarial positions in the banking, hotel, and legal industries. Following the birth of her children, she was a homemaker. Gaye was a member at The Tabernacle Church and later at Church of the Holy Spirit. She was known for her devotion to her children and grandchildren, her sense of humor, her unique laughter, and her love of sunshine, music, and iced tea. Gaye was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Virginia Bishop and William Harold Bishop, as well as her older sister Joyce Gould.
She is survived by her son, Robert Denzil Probus Jr. of Sarasota, her daughter Kimberly Suzanne Probus-Clark (David) of Sarasota, her grandchildren Ariel, Brittany, Jaden, Dawson, Paxton and Holden, her sister Cherie Hollingsworth of Arcadia, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 11:00 am Saturday morning April 30, 2016 at Toale Brothers Funeral Home – 6903 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida 34231 with a service to follow at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private.
