Obituary Preview: Doniven Treshaun Britton, 21 years old, tragically passed away on Saturday evening, April 16, 2022 in Goshen, IN as the result of an automobile accident.  Doniven was born on October 2, 2000 in South Bend.  He has lived in Cassopolis, MI for the past two years.  Prior to moving to Cassopolis, he lived in Tennessee and Elkhart.  Doniven worked at Thor Motor Coach in Bristol.
Doniven was the star that made this family shine.  He was the one that could make any situation better.  Doniven always knew how to brighten someone’s day whether he was joking, talking to you, or just trying to keep you going.  The one thing about him was the love of family.  Doniven loved seeing his close relatives and friends happy.  Another thing Doniven loved was money!  The moment he figured out how to make it, it was over.  He loved to work and he also loved to have fun.
Growing up, Doniven loved sports.  His favorite sports included football, basketball, and track events.  He was a winner alright! He was always determined, skilled and motivated.  At one point in time, Doniven was one of the fastest.  Nobody could catch him.  He also liked joking, playing games, and being adventurous.  Almost anything Doniven tried, he was good at it.  He was a bright person who had so many opportunities.
Above all and beyond, Doniven was a great brother, uncle and friend.  He was just awesome.  He wanted everyone that he liked to win and succeed.  He did not like seeing his close ones down.  He was caring, happy and amazing.  Doniven was very loved and very appreciated.  He was special for real. After college, she worked as the Adult Services Librarian at the Jay County Public Library in Portland, Indiana. In Cincinnati, she served as a librarian at a small college and briefly worked at Barnes and Noble and at the Delhi Township Branch of the Cincinnati Public Library.
As much as she loved books, Molly loved cats even more. From her very first kitty, Alvin (“Pud”), to the dear cats she and her husband Phil adopted, Molly gave an abundance of love to every cat she met. She was passionate about her work as a volunteer, first at the St. Joseph County Humane Society and later at the Save the Animals Foundation (STAF) in Cincinnati. For nine years, she spent Thursday evenings at STAF cleaning rooms and caring for the cats, particularly the FELV/FIV positive ones, including her precious friend Terrence.
A woman of strong convictions, Molly was never one to shy away from a debate. Intelligent and articulate, Molly’s approach to life was logical and analytical. Beneath that exterior, however, was a sweet and thoughtful soul who was devoted to her husband, family, and friends. Trips to Lake Michigan, cloudy and cool weather, Halloween, playing the game Clue, and all things autumnal brought Molly joy. She was funny and unique—a true individualist. No one who had the privilege to know and love her will ever forget her.

Esther was born the year of the “Great Crash” on June 20, 1929, to the late Ralph H. and Mildred V. (Strong) Bole in South Bend, IN. She was the oldest of four children and was raised in the River Park neighborhood. She graduated high school from John Adams.
She would meet her husband, Berry Rodney Robinson who passed in 2014 on a blind date and they were married in April 1949. To this union they had two daughters, Linda (Richard) Robinson-Bowers of Leesburg, FL, and Paula (Craig) Robinson-Aero of Littleton, CO., who survive. Along with her daughters, Esther is survived by her granddaughter, Kelly DeFauw of Littleton, CO., grandson, Richard (Ana) Bowers II of Alpharetta, GA, and 3 great grandchildren, Kierra, Madison, Kaid, and 2 great-great grandchildren, Elias and Lyla. Esther was preceded in death by her great grandsons, Cameron, and Preston Bowers, along with her sister Betty Bole Montgomery in 1998, brothers, Frank Gene Bole in 1984 and half-brother, Earl Henry Smith.
Esther was a very hard worker from her starting in her youth. She often mentioned of the housekeeping and the babysitting of her siblings. Esther and Berry were very hard workers together. They became homeowners at a young age in Mishawaka and when their kids were just babies, they bought a piece of land on Donnell Lake. They both worked full-time jobs in South Bend and somehow managed their Mishawaka home and still found time to drive to the lake in Vandalia, MI. every weekend to work on the house they would build together, of course with a little help from their friends. Esther went to work for the South Bend School Corp. in her late 20’s. She was a very great employee and loved her job and loved all the people she worked with including all the kids thru the years. Even earning the title of Top Administrative Secretary of Riley High School. To many, she was known as Queen Esther, but you could always count on her to get the job done! When Esther and Berry were in their late 30’s they decided to buy another piece of land in Winding Brook Park. They, again, built another beautiful home. The couple decided they had different dreams and would eventually go their separate ways. Esther decided she had worked her young life so much it was time for a change. So, she got with a group in town and went to tour Europe. She had the time of her life, met new friends and toured Hawaii a year or two later and loved it all! From there she vacationed when she could, spent time with family and friends. She really became quite a shining star at Riley High School. With loving her job so much, she retired after 42 years of service. During her service, she led the march of protest, fought for a union for better wages and conditions for secretaries across the area. They had success and she was so proud. She retired at 71 years of age and rumor has it they hired 3 people to fill her position! Her deep desire was to live to be 100 years old. She was little more than two months shy of 93 when she passed. She had a great goal in life. Esther lived most all her life in Indiana, the land she loved. Her last 7 years of her life she spent with her daughter, Paula in Colorado, only passing after complications of a stroke.

Isobel H. Adamson - August 14, 1934 - March 16, 2022

Departed: 03/16/2022 (South Bend)
Obituary Preview: Isobel (Heron) Adamson, age 87, of South Bend passed away peacefully at the Raclin House on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
Isobel was born August 14, 1934 in Nielston,Scotland, to the late Harry and Agnes (Harper) Heron. She was married on July 20, 1960, in Scotland to the late Thomas Adamson who passed away August 10, 1988. They moved to the United States in early 1967 with their young children and started a new life in Indiana. Isobel and her husband were the founders and owners of Claymore Tools, a custom machinery and tool manufacturing shop in Mishawaka, IN. She was also preceded in death by a brother John Heron.
A sprite Scottish woman with a thick brogue that lasted until her final words, Isobel was known to have to repeat phrases over the phone to aid the understanding of the listener on the other end. Making good on her Scottish heritage, Isobel was fond of playing golf with her husband, Tom. A woman committed to sharing this pastime as a treasure for her and her love, Isobel never completed another round of golf after Tom’s passing. Zealed by the activities of her children, Isobel was a Camp Fire leader for Nan, an avid Marian football game attendee for Tom, and the wrestling meet cheer section for David.
In the fond pursuit of receiving her American citizenship, Isobel struggled for years to be registered with the US State Department, largely due to her challenges with her fingerprints (or lack thereof). No longer an “alien” as she was affectionately called by her children and grandchildren alike, Isobel became a naturalized US citizen on September 24, 2004.
Gatherings for holidays were always made special by Isobel’s famous Scottish cooking and the gifts and gestures that spoiled her grandchildren, including Santa’s second visit to Grandma’s house and the kites left by the “Easter Bunny.” Board games including Trivial Pursuit, Taboo, and Pictionary were regular staples that left family and friends laughing until the “wee hours” of any occasion at Bama’s house.
Always appreciating the humor of her family, Isobel was known to receive voicemails from son David and her grandchildren, poking jest at her most loving personality traits and characteristics. Many of these voicemails now decades old still reside on her answering machine and capture a snapshot in time of this woman’s laughs, love, and fondest memories. “Amazing” was the prefix assigned to her by her grandchildren and their Uncle David, and it was a title and charge that she lived up to every single day.
After a life of loving memories made with family, friends, world travels, and laughs, Isobel weathered worsening dementia during the last ten years of her life. While these memories faded to meet her in heaven, she never lost her cheerful, happy, welcoming heart while greeting neighbors and loved ones in her home. She always loved when people visited her home for a cup of tea, a friendly chat, and a glance at the nature that blessed her backyard.
Isobel was blessed by two incredibly kind and generous neighbors, Joan and Steve Ross, who assisted in Isobel’s daily care daily for the last four years of Isobel’s life. Their warmth, patience, and love for Isobel was insurmountable, and Isobel’s family is forever grateful to them for this kindness. The greatest gift Isobel received in her final years was the daily love and care shown by her daughter-in-law, Tonya. For eight years, Tonya took care of Isobel’s daily needs with an uplifting joy and incredible tenderness. No person served Isobel more lovingly, and Tonya’s love, kindness, and thoughtfulness for Isobel will never be forgotten.
Isobel is survived by a son David Adamson (Tonya), son Tom Adamson, daughter Nan Cramer, eight grandchildren; Adam Gilbert, Kristin Gilbert, Devon Gilbert, Lindsey Gilbert, Thomas Adamson, Ansleigh Adamson, Nicholas Adamson and Rheese Adamson, a sister; Nan Matherland and three brothers; Tom Heron, Harry Heron and a sister-in-law Etta Heron.
The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Matthews Cathedral with Reverend Terry Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 23 at Saint Matthews Cathedral from 9:30 AM until 11 AM. Interment will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
