Obituary Preview: Bettie Louise Kane, 89, a longtime resident of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Mayfair House in Portsmouth, VA after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Bettie was born on November 26, 1934 in Fremont, OH to the late Carlton and Mary (Spitler) Gruver.
Bettie graduated from Green Springs High School. She was employed as a clerk at Sears & Roebuck and owned and operated Clear Water Pools with her husband. Bettie was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ and a volunteer at the Senior Center. She enjoyed Card Club, Dartball, and dancing. Bettie was beloved by her family, who will miss her spirit and the competitive bingo games that she loved during holidays with family.
Bettie is survived by her son, Edward (Cathy) Kane of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Laurie (Kane) Caughell of Norfolk, VA; sister, Joanne Calderon of Mentor, OH; grandchildren, Brent Kane of Mason, OH, Carlie Kane of Knoxville, TN, Leslie Hipps of Norfolk, VA, Justin Caughell of Norfolk, VA; 3 great-grandchildren, Evelyn, James & Madeline; and numerous other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Bettie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Edward Kane.

Larry was born on September 25, 1950 in Sandusky, OH to the late Webster J. and Viola (Schwanger) Stewart.
Larry was a 1969 graduate of Perkins High School. He worked as a Sheriff's Deputy for Erie County, then retired from General Motors after 35 years of service. Following retirement, Larry worked at Firelands Regional Medical Center for over 10 years. Larry was a member of St. John's U.C.C. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially backyard BBQs.
Larry is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Vicki (Grohe) Stewart; daughters, Jessica (Ricardo) Trevino of Monroeville and Amanda Staveskie of Sandusky; son, Kevin Stewart of Monroeville; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Carol Downing and Janice (Dick) Galloway; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his son, Bryce Michael Stewart in 2010; his sister, Janet Sprangler; and brother-in-law, Ray Downing.

Sylvia was born on March 4, 1951 in Crestline, OH to the late Virgil and Betty (Bauer) Fisher. Sylvia was married to Ralph Perla, who preceded her in death. They were married on September 16th 1978; they were married 43 years.
Sylvia graduated from Providence Hospital School of Nursing in 1972. She was a registered nurse for Providence & Firelands hospitals until her retirement in 2008. In her spare time, she enjoyed socializing, reading, knitting, and playing with her grandsons.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Emily (Perla) Huntsberger and son-in-law, Steven Huntsberger; grandchildren Clark and Nicholas Huntsberger.

Joanne was born on August 19, 1933 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Irvin G. and Margaret M. (Sprau) Speir.
Joanne graduated from Sandusky High School in 1951. She worked in retail at Sears in Sandusky where she met her husband, Richard J. Hoelzer Jr. Joanne then worked for Muir Drug in Sandusky and retired from Kroger as a retail pharmacy technician after 17 years of service. She enjoyed quilting with her friends, needlepoint, she was an avid reader, and always enjoyed collecting angels.
Joanne is survived by her six children, Terrie (Randy) Ruff, Sandra Cromwell, Shelley (Stevan) Spahn and Cathy (David) Knox, Steven (Kathy) Hoelzer and Tim (Marieta) Hoelzer; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Barbara Mehling.
In addition to her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Hoelzer Jr. in 2018; her son, Richard Jeffrey; and her brother-in-law, Ned Hoelzer.

Gilbert was employed with Mondelez International in Toledo as a security officer.
Gilbert was enjoyed fishing, was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Gilbert is survived by his wife LeeAnn (Beair) Mowery whom he married on December 5, 1997, three daughters Jennifer (Lloyd) Eaton, Amy Mowery and Annabelle Mowery; three sons Daniel (Shannen Mowery, Gilbert Mowery Jr. and Henry Mowery; one stepson, Eugene Ray Beair, twelve grandchildren; 3 sisters Joyce (Jim) Sampson, Vickie Mowery and Becky Nance; one brother Danny (Victoria) Mowery and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father Sonny Stoneburnner.

Obituary Preview: In loving memory of Edmond W. Dangler, 72, who passed away January 24th, 2023 at Firelands Regional Medical Center. He was the loving husband of almost 40 years to Deborah L. Dangler; loving father of Ryan (Allison) Dangler and Jessica (Brian) Dietrick; the most amazing Pop-Pop to Kayla, Lucy, Avery, and Hudson; a loving brother to Carol (Jimmy) Vacchiano, David Dangler, and Joseph Dangler. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel (Fette) and Joseph Dangler; and brother, Richard Dangler.
Edmond will be deeply missed by all who knew him. One of the kindest souls on this planet; he was a gentle giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage.
Early in life, Ed learned the importance of hard work. Starting in 1986 at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey and ending a 45-year long career in the amusement park business at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. He was a man of very strong faith and he taught us the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right.
A humble man of a generation of knowledge and hands on experience, who whittled everything he touched, heart, soul, or otherwise, into something better. Ed continued to make life better for hundreds of others after death with a tissue, bone, and eye donation through Lifebanc Ohio.
While our hearts are sad, we try to remain strong. A celebration of life will be held at, on February 25th, 2023 from 12pm to 3pm at Mesenberg’s Event Center in Huron, Ohio. Eddie, you are now at peace, but you will live on forever in all our hearts. We love you so much! Rest in peace. Friend, Husband, Father, and Pop-Pop.

Linda was born on August 21, 1949 in Waynesburg, PA to the late Albert L. and Isabella (Labo) George.
Linda graduated from Waynesburg High School in Waynesburg, PA in 1967 and attended Waynesburg University in PA and Bowling Green State University in OH. She was the owner and operator of Night Owl Cleaning Company for a number of years before becoming a realtor and property manager. Linda was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont where her strong faith and passion for her Lord let her to participate in Mass as a lector and Eucharistic minister. She was a wonderful cook for her family, a great seamstress, loved singing and playing music of all kinds, and enjoyed mathematics and studying various languages. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her husband, Russell L. Hofer, whom she married on May 17, 1969; one daughter, Bonnie L. (Joshua) Ross of Fremont; three sons, Timothy R. Hofer of MI, Albert R. Hofer of Fremont, and James B. Hofer of Fremont; three grandchildren, Theodore, Valentine, and Abraham Ross; three sisters, Cathy (Glenn) Parks of VA, Billie (David) Chavka of Masury, OH, and Deborah Marion of CA; one brother, James George of CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A private family funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 with burial to follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.

Jack was born on December 3, 1931 in Johnson City, TN to the late Essie Freeman.
Jack was a Combat Army Veteran of the Korea War, receiving both a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired as a supervisor from the former Armstrong in Bellevue. In his retirement, he worked as a security guard at Whirlpool in Clyde. He loved to go fishing and tending to his garden.
Jack is survived by his wife of 70 years, Martha (Whitaker) Freeman, whom he married on July 18, 1951. He is also survived by his daughter, Tammy Gorman; sons, Jack R. (Debbie) Freeman and Larry Freeman and seven grandchildren.

Carl B. Ingraham - February 23, 1925 - November 12, 2021

Obituary Preview: Carl Beverly Ingraham, age 96, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2021 after living a full life. He was at Copper Trace nursing home in Carmel, Indiana at the time.
He was born on February 23, 1925 to Ray and Emily (Sides) Ingraham in Sherman Mills, Maine.
Carl grew up in Sherman Mills, Maine until he left to serve in the United States Marine Corp during WII in 1943. After the war he moved to Berlin Heights, Ohio to work on the farm with his Sister Barbara Harris. He eventually got a job working at General Motor’s New Departure Hyatt plant in Sandusky, Ohio where he would work for 38 years. During his early years he learned how to fly and went on to get his multi-engine and commercial pilots license, something he was very proud of. He met his wife, Estelle I. Constant in Chicopee, Massachusetts and they got married in 1953. They made their home in Milan, Ohio where they gave birth to 3 children. In 1966 they built their dream home in Huron, Ohio where they would live as long as they could on their own till 2018.
In retirement, Carl and Estelle traveled the world. They took trips to Mexico, Alaska, Europe, Hawaii, and to Cameroon, Africa. Carl spent a lot of his time in his workshop making bird houses and wooden airplanes.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle (Constant) Ingraham and is survived by his 3 children, David Ingraham, Steve (Carla) Ingraham and daughter, Cindy (Ted) Branam; 6 grandchildren, Davy Ingraham, Amanda Bonner, Danielle Ahmed (Chris Hilgenberg), Romaan Ahmed, Megan Ingraham, and Gavin Ingraham and 1 great-grandchild, Daniel Bonner.
Friends may call on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 12:00 pm until the time of funeral services at 12:30 pm in the Groff Funeral Homes Huron Chapel near the entrance to Meadow Green Memorial Park at 2602 Bogart Rd. Alvin was born on October 30, 1928 to the late Harland and Ruth Morris.
He served in the Army and Air Force during the Korean War. Alvin retired from Ford Motor Company after 40 years of service.
Alvin is survived by daughter, Anita Stearns; grandson, Bryan (Alison) Porter; great-granddaughter, Morgan (Tony) Yourkvitch; great-grandson, Cameron Porter; great-great grandson, Alvin; great-great granddaughter, Lucille and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Beverly J. (Pitcher) Blair - December 23, 1935 - August 12, 2021

Obituary Preview: Beverly Jane (Pitcher) Blair, age 85, gained her angel wings on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky.
She was born to the late George and Mildred (Baughman) Pitcher on December 23, 1935. She married Walter F. Blair on June 24, 1955 and was married 47 years.
Beverly retired from the General Electric Company in Bellevue. She and her husband, enjoyed winters in Ft. Myers Florida, day trips to Amish country with her church friends and weekend camping trips making memories with her family and dear friends, Nancy and Charlie Claus. She also loved shopping and playing cards. In her earlier years, she was involved with the Girl Scouts and also was a troop leader.
Most importantly, our mom had a heart of gold, always there for friends and family whenever needed. She loved fiercely; her family was her world; her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed family gatherings during the holidays. She was a wonderful homemaker, loved cooking and baking and was a beautiful seamstress. She welcomed family and friends into her home and wanted them to always feel comfortable.
She was a woman of deep faith and attended the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene.
Beverly is survived by her children; Cindy and Robert (Tina) Sr; grandchildren, Robert (Tricia) Jr., Kara (Ryan), Brittany, Michelle, Erica, Tasha and Tara and great-grandchildren, Roman, Carson, Jenna, Addalyn, Troy and Elle. She is also survived by her niece and goddaughter, Linda (Tom) Wade; brothers, Ervin and James (Martha) Pitcher; sister, Nancy; sister-in-law, Martha Pitcher and brother-in-law, James Ruppert and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter in January 2003; daughter, Laurie in May 2017 and grandson, Mathew in July 2021. Also preceding her are brothers, George Jr. and Don; sister, Barbara Ruppert and sister-in-law, June Pitcher.
Friends and family may call on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory Huron Chapel, 2602 Bogart Rd., Huron. He enjoyed attending flea markets, gardening, working with his hands, watching cowboy movies, traveling from Ohio to Tennessee and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Rickey is survived by his wife, Tami (Dreschel) King, whom he married on January 27, 1989. He is also survived by his daughters, Heather (Dominic) Cantu of Huron, Aimee (Dave) Koenig of TX and Amanda Hall of Sandusky; sons, Chad King and wife, Mandy Slusher King and Shane King both of Huron; 10 grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Kaylee King, who Rickey and Tami raised; sisters, Cindy (Dominick) Esposito of Sandusky and Jodi King of NH and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Rickey is preceded in death by his first wife, Fran King in 1974 and brother, Roger King in 2005.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Cheryl and Bernie Cox of Mansfield, Ohio; one step- daughter, Sharon Clark of Long Beach CA; one step-son, Mike Yost of Sandusky; five grandchildren; Dennis and Danny Yost, Brian (Peggy) Cox, Kelly (Zollie) Kovocs, Shelly Cox and special friend Gillan; three great-grandchildren, Lauren (Symon) Zebrowski, Katy (Jason) Willett and Morgan Cox; two step great-grandchildren and great-great grandson, Carter Willett, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
