Don spent 6 years in the U.S. Marine Corp. in which he was very proud to have served his country. He loved to dance, fish, fix anything that was broken. He was an avid marksman and enjoyed working on firearms of all kinds. Don was an amazing cook, some would call him a chef, and enjoyed grilling and using his smoker. He worked most of his lifetime in the construction world, primarily as a certified weld inspector. Don was a highly regarded expert in his field and traveled across the U.S. and multiple countries performing the inspections for major projects. Don was fluent in multiple languages and never met a stranger. Don was a leader of "men" wherever he traveled. Don, otherwise known as Cowboy, will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Winnie Parker. Left to cherish his memory are his lifelong best friends, Coleen Dwire, Tony Sarti, Brian Sik, Brandon Sik, Michael Larson, Haley Pitman, Ronnie Long, Shane Long, Garrett Ward, Nicholas Ward. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 at the church. Interment will follow the service at NELA Veterans Cemetery, 2413 Highway 425, Rayville, LA. Charlie Vernon Vernon was a member of our nation's military serving in the Navy during Vietnam on the USS WILTSIE DD-716. He was an active member of Welcome Home Baptist Church serving on various committees throughout his life. He was a dedicated, loving husband for over 53 years, and the father of three beautiful girls. Vernon owned Duchesne Roofing and Sheet Metal for some 40 years. Prior to closing Duchesne Roofing he became a cattle farmer and at times farmed as many as 250 head of cattle. After retiring from the cattle business, he began to help others in the community passing on his knowledge of cattle farming. Vernon continued to work after retiring continuing to cut and bale hay not only for himself but for others in the community. His personality was one of its own, he never met a stranger and always had a helping hand to whoever needed it. He had the philosophy of paying it forward. Vernon was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for deer hunting, passing on his knowledge to not only his family but to friends and others in his community. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Betty Duchesne, Sister, Jerry Womack, brother, Alfred Duchesne, brother, Ray Duchesne, brother, Johnny Duchesne, sister, Doris Marie Duchesne, grandson, Nolan Dustin Hastings. Ronnie was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed the outdoors as his health permitted. Perhaps his greatest love was his dedication and service to Alcoholics Anonymous where he had celebrated 36 years of sobriety at the time of his death. He often mentored others whom he met in that setting. He is survived by his wife Julie Hale Langley, two children: Tina Langley Lyons, Bob Denham and wife Lisa, one grandchild Sarah Lyons, a sister Lou Ella Langley Humphrey and a very special friend Rudy Bright.
