Charlene was born July 14, 1965 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Elizabeth Smith-Barfield. Charlene was raised in Jamaica, Queens, New York.  Billy G. Hyatt and Annie Mae Hyatt, her adopted parents, were blessed by God to have the opportunity to love and raise Charlene. Charlene was the devoted and adored wife of Uriah Stewart for thirty years. Charlene and Uriah raised four beautiful children; Tiffany, Leah, Alana, Anthony. Not only was Charlene an outstanding and nurturing mother; she was also a great advisor and friend to all of her children.
Charlene attended Francis Lewis High School and Queens College, City University of New York. Charlene worked for many years in financial banking, specializing in client relations. She had the ability to create a work environment that demonstrated inclusion, warmth, and respect. Clients would wait for Charlene’s availability because they knew that she would provide support, a kind word, and a beautiful smile. Charlene, along with her husband, is an entrepreneur, owning their catering business since 2000.
In her earlier years of serving the Lord, Charlene was a melodious soprano singer and soloist of the Chancel Choir as a member of Allen AME Church in Jamaica, Queens, New York for over thirty years. Currently, Charlene is a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Atlanta since 2007.  Charlene’s core values of embracing diversity, unconditional love, and sharing the joy of the Lord have never gone unnoticed.  She was overjoyed to have been requested to serve on the Sacred Ground Group that focused on racial equity and healing.  She was honored to have been elected to serve on the All-Saints Episcopal Church Vestry.  Charlene was thrilled to volunteer in various church activities, especially being an All Saints Greeter. Charlene was also a Co-Chair of the Four Core Ministries. She called her church her ‘happy place’. Her bright smile reflected the joy that she had in her soul when she walked through the doors of her church.
Charlene’s love of people allowed her to connect to friends all across the world. She joined Wrapunzel Community Group, a beautiful group of people that shared the love of head wraps. Charlene became the social media monitoring administrator for the group to ensure positivity and equity. Charlene’s adventurous spirit led her to dive into learning languages, embracing all types of music, and inspiring people to expand their horizons. Charlene’s creative and fun spirit sparked her to engage in a host of ventures, such as crocheting, puzzles, scrabble, word games, art collages, cooking, and travel.
Charlene’s spirit of joy and beautiful life will forever be cherished. Charlene is survived by; her devoted husband Uriah, Children; Tiffany, Leah, Alana, Anthony, Grandchildren; Elijah, Hannah, Harper, Siblings; Simuel, Francine, June, Joan, Kathryn, Keith, Mother-in-Law; Phyllis Carey, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Charlene is predeceased by her mothers Elizabeth Barfield and Annie Mae Hyatt; Father; Billy G. Hyatt, Siblings; Beverly and James.

She was born in Columbus , Oh and was a graduate of East high school in the year of 1960 . She got her Associates degree in accounting at Franklin University . Marlene worked as an accountant for many years for the government at DFAS. She then retired in 2004 after many years . She was a active member of the IDMR (institute of divine metaphysical research) for many years. She was a beloved mother, friend  & grandmother.  She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time outside in the sun on beautiful days, shopping and being with her grandchildren. She is adored by her family , she will be missed dearly . Marlene was a true light her aura and strength was admired by many. She is survived by her daughter Mattie Harshaw , son McKinley Wright Jr., her grand children and her great grandchildren.
