Karen Riggle - November 10, 1944 - April 29, 2024

Departed: 04/29/2024 (Grand Rapids)
Obituary Preview: Karen Sue Riggle was born to Eve E. (Grove) and Robert C. Smith in Duquesne, Pennsylvania on November 10, 1944.
She graduated from Duquesne High School in 1962. Karen (Susie) attended Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, PA before taking a job as a secretary at US Steel in Duquesne, where she met her husband, (John) Steven Riggle in 1977.
Karen and Steve raised Steve’s three children together and had 47 years full of activity and love – celebrating birthdays, vacationing at their Canadian cottage in Marmora, and caring for weimaraners, a breed of dog their family liked very much. Karen was fearless as she jumped in to raise Steve’s children and even jumped out of planes as skydiving became a hobby in her thirties.
Karen and Steve retired in their mid-fifties and spent much of the year at their cottage, fishing, swimming, hosting pizza parties on their cliffside deck, and cherishing friendships. Karen loved to take road trips with Steve and she had wonderful memories of their cross-country trip to the Pacific northwest.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother (Eve) and her father (Robert). She is survived by her spouse Steve, her son Mark (Lisette) Riggle, her daughters Tracy (Matt) Reed and Wendy (John) Solomon – along with nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and her sweet dog Kiefer.

Terry Noffsinger - May 20, 1944 - April 25, 2024

Departed: 04/25/2024 (Grand Rapids)
Obituary Preview: Terry LeMoyne Noffsinger, 79, storyteller extraordinaire (with a secret desire to do Stand Up Comedy), husband, father, brother, uncle, friend & devoted and loving grandfather to his cherished granddaughter, Ella, reluctantly left this world on April 25-, 2024, while at home with his family. Terry was a sports lover (especially U of M where he worked at the stadium for home football games.) He followed NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt whenever and wherever the races took him. He had a real passion for motorcycles, classic cars and Corvettes (he owned 6 of them over the years.) Not only was Terry a music lover but he was a music maker, skilled at drums, guitar, keyboard, steel guitar. He was a member of a band in his younger years and attended concerts as an adult whenever he could. Boats, motorcycles, cars and hours of watching Amy ride Bint, Mel and Harley at horse shows was definitely a priority (esp. these past 2 years with both Amy and Ella riding Oscar at shows.) He looked forward to an occasional gambling trip to Las Vegas whenever possible "just because he could. His unconditional love for animals was apparent
and the special dogs in his adult life (Molly, Bo, Jessie and Mr. Tibbs) were loyal companions.
Terry's career was spent as a teacher and coach for GRPS at the Elementary level, primarily at Aberdeen and North Park. His respect for his students and co-workers was admired and reciprocated over the many years he spent with them. He was determined to be a good role model and an exciting and effective educator.
Terry's early years were spent in Caledonia, Mi., where he was active in several sports including baseball, basketball, and football. He kept in touch with his high school Coach, Mike Bramble, for his entire life, most notably when Mike was in care for his health issues. So many of his lifelong and loyal friendships were formed during his years in Caledonia. As skilled an athlete as he was, he could never master the game of golf and admitted that despite his lousy scores and offhanded swing, he was always able to have fun trying when the opportunity came knocking.
Terry was a member of the American Legion Post 305-SAL. He was a founding member of the Legion Riders and enjoyed having a brew with his buddies at the Legion. He was active in the fund raising and causes of SAL and held past offices as an SAL member. He was a member of the Masons, Doric Lodge in Grand Rapids, Mi. and a member of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church.
Terry was predeceased by his Parents, Mary Louise and LeMoyne Noffsinger, and his beloved Brother-In-Law, Stevens R. Parmelee. Aside from his special Grand Daughter, Ella, he is survived by his wife, Carli Parmelee-Noffsinger and his daughter and Son-in-Law, Amy and Mike Brechting. A Memorial Service and visitation for Terry will be Friday, May 10, 2024 at the American Legion, Post 305, 9548 Cherry Valley Ave, Caledonia, Mi. Visitation and refreshments start at 10:00 am and the Memorial service begins at 11:00 am. There will be a gathering of friends and family with refreshments following the service. Chaplin Gary Timmerman will lead the service. Please enter at the South entrance by going beyond the front door and driving to the rear of the building. There will be signage to direct you!
