Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy. in Victoria. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Honoring Augustine as pallbearers are Dennis D. Postel, Vincent Postel, Leroy Trevino, Narcisso “Flaco” Martinez, Tony Mendieta, and Gus Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers are Fermin “Bimbo” Rubio, Joey A. Delatorre, Pat Barrera, Jr., Fernando Rojas, Andrew “Googie” Rubio, Bobby Palacios.
Augustine’s hobbies included fishing, disc golf and listening to his vast music collection. He will truly be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Augustine was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard Postel, Henry G. Postel; sister, Mary Ann Postel-Rodriguez; nieces, Diana D. Postel and Lucy A. Lara-Cano.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his siblings, Dennis T. Postel, Manuela Postel-Lara, Sophia P. Wilson, Bridgitte Postel and Vincent Postel. In addition to his siblings, Augustine is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who he dearly loved.
The family requests that donations be made to Mission Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation of Refugio and/or Hospice of South Texas.

Obituary Preview: Nicolas S. Delgado, 90, of Victoria, TX, passed away quietly in his home, surrounded by his loving family, on April 28, 2024. He courageously battled cancer finding his strength in his supportive family and his faith. He was born July 7, 1933, in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, Mexico to Jose Maria Delgado and Josefa Sagrero Delgado.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Maria Delgado; his mother, Josefa Sagrero Delgado; brothers, Sebastian, Manuel, and Rafael; and his sisters, Herminia, and Maria. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Delgado; his son, Nicolas Delgado Jr. (Sandra Delgado); his four daughters, Yolanda Bosquez (Paul Bosquez), Rosalinda Ettaki (Mourad Ettaki), Melinda Walker (Kevin Walker), and Elizabeth Delgado (Jerry Espinoza); and his twelve grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., with a rosary prayed at 6 p.m., on Monday, May 6, at Grace Funeral Home in Victoria. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bloomington. Interment will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Bloomington. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
He is remembered as a cherished husband, father, and grandfather. Nicolas was a provider, a protector, and a devoted member of the Catholic church. During his lifetime, Nicolas worked as a farmer, an insulator, and a welder, having worked for H.B. Zachry and Arthur Brothers. In his retirement, he became an avid gardener, sharing the fruits of his labor with anyone, an inventor, and a talented artist that sought inspiration from the land and the western shows he loved to watch with his wife.
The family would like to thank the staff of Harbor Hospice for their loving care of Nicolas.

Obituary Preview: Eleanor “Ellie” Neisser Jacobs, 78, of Kyle and formerly from Victoria, passed away on April 27, 2024. She was born in Da Costa, Texas to the late Henry Neisser and Sophie Ulrich Neisser on June 11, 1945. Ellie lived in Victoria until moving to the Central Texas area in 2007.
She was a graduate of Bloomington High School and worked in the Victoria area until retiring and moving to be near her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gerald W. “Jerry” Jacobs; daughter, Jerilyn Ann Grady of Kyle, and daughter-in-law Betty Jacobs of Missouri; grandchildren, Peter Jacob Grady and wife Anisa, Katherine Grady Morgan and husband Jacob, Molly Ann Grady, Riley Thomas Grady, Gracelyn Noelle Grady, Nolyn Brooke Jacobs, Brayden Payne Jacobs, and Carlie Danielle Berry. She is also survived by her sister Mabel Lemke of Victoria.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her son Gerald Glenn “Jake” Jacobs and son-in-law Peter John Grady.
Ellie or “Meme,” as everyone called her, loved to cook, and spend time with her family. There was always something good to eat at “Meme and Poppie’s house.” Her dressing at Thanksgiving, her German Chocolate cake and of course, her chicken-fried steak were her specialties. In addition, she loved to shop with all her girls and watch TV with Poppie. She was loved and will be missed so much.
Rosary will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM and a funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at Grace Funeral Home on 2401 Houston Highway, Victoria, Texas 77901. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery on 8919 US Highway 87 North, Victoria, Texas 77904.

She is preceded in death by her Father T.F. “Bob” Milligan, Mother Elia “Bea” Milligan, Niece Christi Milligan, and Nephew Justin Milligan.
She is survived by her two daughters Michelle Mayer (Willie Mayer), Heidi Dierlam (Joseph White); Grandchildren Drew Becker, Lauren Schmidt (Richard Schmidt), Joshua Mayer, Sarah Armbruster, and Gracelynn White; Three Great Grandkids Hunter Schmidt, Weston Schmidt, and Averie Schmidt.
Phyllis enjoyed her Daughters and Grandkids and she was proud to be finally made a Great Grandma. Her hobbies included sewing, playing slow pitch, fishing and crabbing. She had fun doing puzzles with her sister while they talked on the phone. She also loved to dance and her favorite thing to do was gardening, she loved her plants and had the greenest thumb around.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

She was raised in Victoria and graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1961. After graduation, she continued a life dedicated to her catholic roots. She retired from Dupont, where she was a smiling receptionist and the best telephone operator. There she met her loving husband, Travis.
She dedicated many years of her life to her family, taking care of her mother until her passing. She was a loving wife, a kind mother, a fun grandma, and was always a little head strong. She was present for every soccer game, every school event, and every major milestone that occurred in our lives. She had many hobbies including quilting, gardening, and keeping her grandkid’s secrets. Despite her struggle with dementia, she always had a smile on her face and appreciated a good laugh.
She is survived by her husband Travis, her children Louis and Nikki, stepchildren Russel (Patty) and Jody, grandchildren Jimmy (Amanda), Payton (Nolan), Joey, Evie, Emily, Leann, and Gabriel, her 3 great-children Jordan, Riley, and Jasmine, and her beloved sister Patsy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary, brothers-in-law Don and Jack, and her brother Daniel.
Services are planned for Friday, May 3rd at Grace Funeral Home from 3-5pm. Private graveside services to be held at a later date.

In her early years Ofelia worked as a cook, waitress, & security guard. Eventually she opened up a restaurant of her own, Garcia’s. Once retired, she spent her later years as a Homemaker.
Ofelia enjoyed cooking for others and giving you anything she could. You never left her house with empty hands or an empty stomach. That was her love language. She didn’t know a stranger and if she did, she won them over with her delicious food. In her spare time, you could catch her shopping (Dollar Tree & HEB were her favorite stops), stopping at garage sales even if it involved doing a u-turn, running the streets because we all know, home was the last place she wanted to be and eating at her favorite restaurant, China B. Her favorite past time was spending time with her great grandchildren.
Ofelia is survived by her children David Joe (Misty) Garcia, Robert Lee Garcia, Lino (Valarie) Garcia, and Tina (Bobby) Benavamonde. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren; April Garcia, Corina (Adam) Soliz, Corey (Eddie) Guajardo, Jeremiah Garcia, Courtney DeLosSantos, Miranda Garcia, Josiah Garcia & Jozelyn & Jacob Washington. Ofelia also had 5 great grandchildren she adored, Niellee, Adrianna, Zedekiah, Enezly & Ozi.
She is preceded in death by; Her Parents, Sister, Brothers, & Grandson; David “Nunu” Garcia.
She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Donald Blake Gibbs - March 28, 1939 - April 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: Donald Blake Gibbs, passed away on April 23, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on March 28th, 1939 in Bruni, Texas to the late John Collins and Christine Gibbs. Before retirement, Donald worked as an oilfield tool pusher for Sparkman Well Service for many years.
Known as "Don" to his friends and family, survived by his wife of 64 years, Willie Mae Gibbs, with whom he shared the joys and trials of life. His legacy lives on through his children, David Gibbs and his wife Becky, and his daughter Brenda (Gibbs) Armstrong and her husband Jessie . He was the proud grandfather of Michelle Thompson, Misty Boyd (Cody), Lacy Kline ( Kevin), Michael Muzny, and Stephen Gibbs(Carlee). His spirit will further endure through his seven great-grandchildren, each a testament to his deep familial roots.
His older brother Phillip Gibbs, and two nephews, Steven and Mark Gibbs, preceded him in death, leaving Donald to carry the family name with honor and grace. His passions in life were simple and sincere. He looked forward to Vegas trips with his wife and playing poker at the kitchen table. He spent a lot of his time at the beach shrimping and fishing. He enjoyed reading his western novels, smoking his Winstons and drinking Lone Star while on the back porch telling the occasional oilfield story to family and friends.
As we bid farewell to Donald Blake Gibbs, we take solace in the fact that his life was lived fully, and his memory will be treasured. He was indeed a good man, one who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. He will be very much missed.

In addition to her parents, Guadalupe was preceded in death by her husband, Raul Vasquez; daughter, Alice Rodriguez; sister, Maria Barrientes; brother, Victor Longoria.
Lupe was a very wonderful and one-of-a-kind woman you will ever know. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, the game room, bingo, traveling and her Spanish Soap Operas. Her favorite movie was dirty dancing, and her favorite song was “Tu Carcel” by Los Bukis. She was so caring and loving. She did so much for anyone and everyone. She will be missed, but never forgotten, and forever in our hearts.

Irene was a very hard worker. She worked at a shrimp factory in Port Lavaca, Luby’s for a long time until it closed and 8 years at Ventura’s Tamales. She loved to watch TV, especially wrestling. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her spouse, Geromino Cardenas, Jr.; sons, Joseph, Ramon and Robert Cardenas; siblings, Martina Briones, Alejandro Briones, Celia Cardenas, Frank Briones, Geromino Briones, Dario Briones; step-sisters, Lorencia Briones and Maria Theresa Mendoza.

Eleonora was full of life and would light up any room with her presence. She loved to sing, dance, travel and have gatherings at her home. Family was everything to her. She was a Godly woman and His love shined through her. Being from Panama, she loved to cook and share her culture with others. Eleonora never met a stranger. She would make anyone feel loved and appreciated. She will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Eleonora was preceded in death by her son, David J. Zwiercan of Tucson, AZ; sisters, Alicia Pino of Panama City, Panama, Josefina Aikala of Oahu, HI, and Elena Chavez Lopez of Costa Rica.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at 9 a.m., with a rosary recited at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family would like to invite friends and family for a reception following the services at Holy Family Catholic Church.
She married Edward A. Salazar, the love of her life, on June 30, 1963, in Kenedy, Texas. She was a homemaker and mother of three. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, The Holy Family Altar Society, and the Victoria Association for Citizens with Disabilities. Mary Ann loved dining out, baking, and was especially known for her lemon meringue pie. She enjoyed listening to country, “church”, and Mexican music, and she loved to dance. She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, watching TV, and was passionate about organizing activities for adults with disabilities. She enjoyed reading books from the public library. She loved the color blue. She was religious, loved her Catholic faith, and loved playing Chalupa, Mexican Bingo. She loved to sing in church and with the radio, enjoyed looking at Christmas lights, and loved to eat sweets. Her days were brightened when she received flowers. She was a strong-willed woman who brought beauty to the lives of those around her.
No more pain, Mama. No more pain.
She was survived by her daughter, Lisa (Doug) Riesterer of Victoria; son, Edward Salazar II of Houston; and siblings, Soilo Alvear, Alicia Palacios, Luis Alvear; Lydia Cruz and Susanna Alvear.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Mary Diane “Dee Dee” Salazar; and siblings, Trine Collins, Lorenzo Alvear, Eloise Garcia, Celso Alvear, Miguel Alvear, George Alvear, Maria Louisa Garza, Maria Elena Alvear, Elvira Alvear Horn, Alberto Alvear, David Alvear, and Diana Alvear.

Amy Leigh Gohmert - December 11, 1974 - April 16, 2024

Obituary Preview: It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Amy Leigh Gohmert. Amy's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her spirit and impact will forever remain in our hearts.
Amy was born to the most loving and devoted parents, Charles, and Susie Gohmert, on December 11, 1974. From the very beginning, Amy's life was a testament to resilience and determination. Despite being born with cerebral palsy and being a quadriplegic, Amy never allowed her disabilities to stand in her way.
Amy's indomitable spirit and unwavering strength were an inspiration to all who knew her. She faced every challenge with grace and courage, teaching us the true meaning of perseverance, through 32 surgeries and many medical procedures. Her ability to overcome obstacles and embrace life's joys was a testament to her extraordinary character.
Despite her physical limitations, Amy lived life to the fullest. She had an incredible love for her friends, our dear neighborhood, Hershey’s chocolate, and the activities that brought her joy. From singing in her high school choir, country dancing, fishing, riding horses to water skiing and being the biggest George Strait fan, Amy found freedom and happiness in these many pursuits. Her infectious laughter and bright smile lit up every room she entered.
Not only did Amy possess a zest for life, but she also dedicated herself to making a difference in the lives of others. As a mentor to children with disabilities, she showed them that their voices mattered and that they could achieve greatness, through their communication devices. Amy's compassion and dedication were a guiding light for those she touched, leaving a lasting mark on their lives.
Amy's love deeply extended to her family, and she embraced her role as a proud big sister to Randall and Traci and their bond was unbreakable.
Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Laverne Yariger Jr., and Jeanice Mattie Yariger, Newton and Verna Lee Gohmert, and her Aunt Anne Kouba.
Amy joins her father, Charles Wayne Gohmert, in Heaven and leaves behind her beloved mother, Susie Gohmert, Randall Gohmert, Traci Boyer (Richard Boyer), her nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, extended family and her many wonderful friends.
As we bid farewell to our Amy, let us remember her as someone who defied the odds, a beacon of strength and inspiration. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and unwavering determination. May her memory remind us to embrace life's challenges with grace and to never allow our own limitations to hinder our dreams.

He served as both an Usher and 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Sorrows, where he and Yolanda quickly became vital members of not just the church, but the entire community of Victoria. Robert was a Foreman for the City of Victoria for 26 years and later spent over a decade in the Heath Care industry. In his retirement, Robert enjoyed watching the Cowboys and the Astros. He never stopped working though, staying busy with work around the house and his truck.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lee Gonzales; sister, Irene Martinez.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Henry Kasper Jr; and niece, Regina (Gina) Baass. He is survived by his wife Chris Grahmann, sister Jeanette Baass, nephew Bradley (Brad) Baass, nieces Megan Besancon and Nicole Kasper.
James was living in Yorktown, Texas with his wife, Chris of 42 years at the time of his passing.
James graduated from Victoria high school in 1978. After High school, he worked at the John Deere dealership, Baass Concrete, and was a gunsmith at Eller’s Hunting Post/Armory.
After formal employment, James became a connoisseur of old tractors, cars, trucks, etc. If it had a motor, he was interested. He was a member of the Model A Ford Club and was president for four years. He enjoyed old car tours and swap meets. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as was an avid gun collector.
His Memorial service will be Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Highway, Victoria, TX 77901. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 10 AM with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 10 AM and Service to follow immediately thereafter at 10:30 AM.

Jerry graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1967, and attended Victoria College, before serving his country in the USAF. Following his discharge from military service, Jerry returned to Victoria, before moving to San Antonio, Texas, where he was employed by several families as a domestic worker, for some 42 years. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed spending time reading cooking/travel magazines, and watching team sports on TV.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Annette Guertin Roswell. He is survived by his sister, Roberta Guertin Beams, and his brother, Ronnie Guertin. He also leaves behind multiple nephews, nieces and friends.
Jerry will be remembered by many who knew him as a kind, compassionate, and loving man. He lived an exemplary life, that reflected how our Lord and Savior would have us live. A memorial service will be held on April 20th, at 11:00 AM, at: Prevailing Word Church

David was an electrician and worked out at DOW, he dreamed of retiring to create beautiful furniture. Carpentry was an occupation, but also a passion. More than carpentry, he had a passion for music, whether it was live at a concert, blasting from a speaker at the beach, or singing it into a microphone at karaoke. But even more than music, he loved his family. Every cousin, aunt, uncle, sibling and especially his daughters. He was a caring dad and friend and will be deeply missed by many.

She loved her family and friends and there was never a day without love and laughter. Sofia was a woman of strong faith and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Victoria, Texas as well as, Our Lady of Victory. Growing up in a Catholic School, her devotion to her faith and the church were important to her. If you knew Sofia, more than likely your memories are fun and full of smiles, because she believed in the power of Joy! Many remember her not only in the classroom, but also as a lover of plants, westerns, bright colors and dancing. She love listening to Ruben Ramos or Little Joe and reminiscing on her dancing days-so many memories in dance halls. Sofia is a soul that is and will remain dearly missed. CYO queen, baseball/basketball sweetheart, prom queen, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend – whatever she was to you – it was special!
They say, “God take the best first” well, her life is a testament to that, and we are grateful for her life and her love.

He enjoyed going to Riverside Park to fish. He also enjoyed hanging out outside and talking with his brothers and nephew. Anytime there was a storm coming, he would keep an eye on it and wanted to be outside in it. He loved to plant things. He could take a dead branch and bring it back to life with his green thumb. He was always outside watering the yard. He was also serious about his lottery numbers, having to play weekly and having a system written in a notebook.
A celebration of his life will be at Ventura’s Tamales Restaurant on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM if anyone would like to attend.

Janie Zachary Ream is survived by two children, a son Timothy James Vowell and wife Melissa Wilburn Vowell of The Woodlands, Texas, and a daughter Tammy Louise Vowell Davis of Victoria, Texas.
Janie is survived by five grandchildren, grandson Richard Kelley, granddaughter Ashton Kelley, grandson Brenden Vowell and wife Kimberley Close Vowell, grandson Ty Carter and wife Alexandra Stover Carter, and granddaughter Katherine Vowell.
Mrs Ream is survived by eight great grandchildren, Madalynn Kaufman, Kinsley Mann, Haylie Kelley, Kylie Kelley, Alivia Vowell, Alissa Vowell, Alyia Vowell, and Owen Carter.
In addition to her parents, Janie Ream is preceded in death by her husband Johnnie Bob Ream, and four siblings, sister Treva Mae Richardson, sister Bettie Ruth Tate, brother George Robert Bailey, and sister Mary Louise Bailey, and daughter Mylinda Joyce Flowers.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren pay tribute to Janie as she is their beloved “Nana” who will be missed by them all.

Charles Lesley White - September 15, 1943 - March 31, 2024

Obituary Preview: Charles Lesley White was born on September 15,1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Beth Elder House Tomasini and John Lesley White. Shortly after birth, he was entrusted into the arms of Altha Andrews Hill and Charles Hill where he grew up in Victoria, Texas in a loving home. He accepted Christ at an early age under Rev. Z. Broadus at Palestine Baptist Church.
Charles started his formal education at Bloomington Elementary School, where he rode to school each day with Mrs. Harriette Hammonds. He later transferred to F. W. Gross School and graduated in 1961. He also attended Texas Southern University, Houston Texas. His college education was halted when he joined the Army. Charles served his country and was honorably discharged on January 20, 1969. His military service included a tour of duty in Germany.
His first job was with Victoria Pharmacy where he was a delivery driver. He also participated in the Summer Hire Program at Alcoa and was later hired at Alcoa after his tour of duty with the Army. He worked at Alcoa for many years until he took a medical retirement.
Charles met the love of his life, Bertha, (whom he fondly called Bert) while in high school. They were married on April 2, 1966. This union was not blessed with children but Charles was blessed to be Godfather to Shay (Demetric) Porter Wells and Darrin (Regina) Wilson.
Charles was an avid sports fan. He played basketball in high school and played baseball in college. During his adult life, he played softball with the Victoria Aces. His favorite teams included the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Dodgers and Refugio Bobcats. When he was not involved in sports, he was working on his train set, sharing recipes on Facebook that he never prepared, listening to and recording music, and ordering items from Amazon.
He peacefully departed this life on March 31, 2024. He was preceded in death by both sets of parents, brothers (Vaughn LaRue Carmichael), (David White), and sister (Kathleen Simpson).
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bertha, sisters Mildred Royster and Kenya White, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Paula was born January 7 in Karnes City, Texas, to Evelyn and O.L. Bettis. She grew up in Victoria, graduating as a Mighty Sting in 1968. She then began a life-long career of providing office support at varying auto dealerships, retiring from Gunn Acura, San Antonio.
Paula is survived by brother Jerry, sister Kathy and husband Joe Marez, Scott's children Chrissy and Benjamin, sisters-in-law Shirley Buchanan and Sandy Miller, nieces Karrin O'neal and Kim Marez Slaughter, nephews Stephen Bettis, Jason Bettis, Clint Marez and Joey Marez. Special friends Elgene Henry, Sandra and Robert Hatcher, also survive Paula. Family and friends were valued beyond measure.
She is predeceased by husband Scott Hanson, brother Mickey, long time friend Lonnie, parents and many other beloved relations.
Much gratitude is given to Dr. Frank Parma, Paula's medical team at Citizens, the caring staff of Liberty Dialysis, and the caregivers of Sodalis Senior Living.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Private service to be held in Luckenbach, Texas, a place with special meaning for Paula and Scott.
