Obituary Preview: Blacksburg -- Cleve "Brahma" Hambright, 76, of 188 Hambright Trail, passed away on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center.
Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the husband of Rita Patterson Hambright and the son of the late James Kyrk Hambright and Dorothy Byars Hambright Mullinax. Cleve was a member of Nazareth Baptist Church. He was an operator at the 99 Island Hydroelectric Dam with Duke Power for 45 years. Cleve loved to spend his time with his grandchildren and being outdoors hunting, fishing, and gardening. He would also help anyone in any way he could.
Surviving Cleve are his daughters, Missy White (Tony), Christy Phillips (Steve), Dottie Starnes (Darrell), and Jennifer Butler (Jonathan); his brother, Knox Hambright (Teresa); his sister, Vickie White; eight grandchildren, Toni White, Charly Gordon, Brooke White, Dalton Starnes, Colton Starnes, Kayla Butler, Krista Butler, and Khloe Butler; and four great-grandchildren, Tinsley, Graylee, Archie, and Haizlee.
In addition to his parents, Cleve was preceded in death by his step-father, Forest Mullinax, and a brother-in-law, Bobby White.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 11:00 am at Nazareth Baptist Church, 1156 99 Island Road, Blacksburg, SC with Dr. Jamie Billings and Rev. Gregg Martin officiating. Interment will be private. Tony White, Steve Phillips, Jonathan Butler, Darrell Starnes, Dalton Starnes, Colton Starnes, and Jimmy Hambright will serve as pallbearers. Dennis "Coon" Hardin, Doug Eaker, Charles Gorski, Yvan Walker, and Wayne Cobb will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the husband of Sylvia Gilliam and the son of Betty Carroll Foster and the late Knox Winfred Foster Sr. Knox worked as a truck driver for the recycling center and sanitation department. He loved farming, his family, and his fur babies.. He was a good husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his wife and mother, surviving Knox are his sister, Sandra Ruff (Jason); his nephew, Matthew Ruff (Katlynn); his brother-in-law, Jesse Gilliam (April); his in-laws, Junior and Donna Gilliam; and his faithful companion, Doc Holliday.
In addition to his father, Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his infant brother.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Childers is survived by his daughters; LaShea Brakefield (Dusty), Nikki Childers O''Dell (Jason), Brittany Childers (James Wilson) and Adrian Childers, brothers; Bruce Childers, Steve Childers, Wyman Childers, Bill Childers, and Chris Childers, a sister; Wynona Phillips; grandchildren; Claire, Gabby, and Thomas; family friend like a daughter; Summer Bassett.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Childers was preceded in death by his siblings; Rodney Childers, Marion "Tricky" Black and Donnie Arthurs.

Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the husband of Catherine Batteiger Moss and the son of the late Otis Eugene Moss and Betty Ruth Byrum Moss. Mickey was a member of Broad River Baptist Church. He was an educator with the Cherokee County School District and former coach at Blacksburg High School. He was also an educator, athletic director, and coach for 37 years in multiple school districts across South Carolina. He enjoyed NASCAR, dirt track racing, and working with kids. He was also a United States Marine Veteran, having served in Vietnam, as well as a Purple Heart recipient.
In addition to his wife, surviving Mr. Moss are his sons, Mike Moss (Courtney) of Dalzell, SC and Matt Moss (Danielle) of Murrells Inlet, SC; his brother, Todd Moss (Marie) ,of Clover, SC; and five grandchildren, Callie Moss, Jake Moss, Turner Moss, Dawson Moss, and LurieGrace Moss; his nephew, Tristan Moss, and his niece, Riley Moss.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband James "Shorty" Bell and husband Jerry Goodson, brother Albert "Cooter" Peterson, and her parents Albert Lee Peterson, Sr., and Elsie Batchler Peterson.
Geraldine was a member of Broad River Baptist Church, her passion was working in her yard and garden, listening to music, going out weekly with her friends to eat dinner, loved talking nightly on the phone with her family and friends.  As a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend to many, she will be sorely missed. Geraldine leaves behind son Scott Bell, daughter Sandy Bell, grandchildren Kara Mullinax and husband Ricky, Ryan Bell, James Bell, and Victoria Bell, great-grandchildren Aryana, and Aurora, and her loving sister Louise Lanier. She also leaves behind many friends who have cherished her years of friendship and laughter, and her fur companion "Blondie."
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Broad River Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Surviving Mr. Mullinax are his sons, Kiley Mullinax (Melissa) and Jacob Mullinax (Becca); his daughter, Stephanie Miller (Owen); his siblings, Eddie Mullinax, Jackie Queen, and Kathy Williams; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and his parents, Mr. Mullinax was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Mullinax of St. Stephens, SC.

Obituary Preview: Blacksburg -- Roberta Saddler Thompson 90, of 306 E. Lime St., Blacksburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 8:15 a.m. at her residence.
Daughter of the late Joe and Mary P. Saddler, she was born on March 9, 1934, in Cherokee County. She was a member of Trinity AME Zion Church where she formerly served as the President of the Missionary Board. Roberta was a retired employee of Alcoa in Gaffney, SC. She was also the first African American Librarian in the Cherokee County Library System and was a member of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Abbie Thompson, daughters, Norman Jean Thompson and Patsy Ann Thompson; a sister, Mary Joe Saddler, and a great-grandchild, Kassidy Thompson.
Left to cherish many fond memories: two daughters, Margaret Thompson of Pinebluff, N.C. and Rosemary Thompson of the home; a son, Frankie Thompson (Elizabeth), of St. Pauls, N.C., one sister, Reverend Hattie Roseboro, of Concord, NC, one brother, Jimmy Saddler, of Sarasota, Fla.; 7 grandchildren of which two were reared in the home, Evan Thompson and Ray Tyler Otey, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 2 p.m. at Youngs Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Larry J. Brooks officiating. She will lie instate from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Robert Wells and Rev. Phillip Smith officiating. Interment will be private. Bradley Pursell, Jason Haggard, Jacob Haggard, Andrew McCluney, Ashton McCluney, Charlie Black, and Ridge Gentry will serve as pallbearers.
