Age 85, of Massillon, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024.  He was born May 15, 1938 in Canton, a son of the late Wilbert and Virginia (Burleson) Furbee, and had been a Massillon resident since 2007.  Bernard was a 1956 graduate of Canton Lincoln High School, and retired in 1986 from The Timken Co., after 30 years’ service, where he was a machine repairman.  He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean (Shaeffer) Furbee, on Dec. 16, 2017.  Bernard is survived by a daughter, Mellonie (Neil) Casto, a son, Shawn Gasper, two granddaughters, Brenna Swiney and Marron Casto, and a brother, Dennis Furbee. James A. Wilson, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of seventy-three on March 27th. Jim's life was characterized by dedication to serving his family and community, embodying love through his actions.
Born in Canton, Jim was a natural leader. In his youth he was a successful athlete and a champion of the marginalized. He graduated from Lehman High School. Motivated by a strong commitment to serving God and empowering others, Jim pursued higher education at Kent State University and Malone College, earning a Bachelor's degree in Christian ministries and Bible literature. He later pursued a Master’s degree at Fuller Seminary. Jim devoted over a decade to Young Life, serving as a director and leaving a lasting impact on countless people.
Jim married his first wife Barbara (Ware) Huber, and they were blessed with children Jesse, Nathan, and Bethany. Though their marriage journey took different paths, Jim's love and support for his children remained steadfast and unwavering.
Later, Jim found love again and married Phyllis (Lukens) Wilson. He would often tell others that his favorite part of the day was going to sleep and waking up next to his best friend and deeply loved wife, Phyllis. Together, they welcomed their daughter Audrey into the world, and soon after, Jim built from the ground up a sanctuary among towering trees. This home was his "castle," reflecting his deep love for nature and his dedication to fostering a life filled with warmth and togetherness.
Jim worked in fire and water restoration, owning a ServiceMaster, and later a repair and remodeling company, Wilson Enterprises in Stark County. A skilled contractor, Jim's hands crafted not only homes but also a life filled with love and purpose.
Jim enjoyed serving his community. He lent his skills in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, and contributed his time to supporting the GlenOak Band and boosters organization.
Jim was always willing to jump in and offer a helping hand with various projects whenever asked. He also shared his expertise, teaching his skills to others. His willingness to go above and beyond for those he loved was a true testament to his generous spirit.
Jim was a happy guy, waking up early every day with a smile on his face. He greeted his family and friends with a warmth that left no doubt they were loved. He enjoyed fishing and watching sports with his children and brothers. He was an avid reader and history enthusiast. He had a great sense of humor and a knack for storytelling.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Betty (Lama) Miller and James Arthur Wilson, as well as his brother Sean Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Phyllis Wilson. Two brothers, Craig Wilson and Ron Wilson (Kelly Wood), also survive him. Jim leaves behind his beloved children Jesse Wilson (Laura), Nathan Wilson (Rachel), Bethany Morrison (Justin), and Audrey Wilson (Todd Tederous). Additionally, he is survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He had a special gift for bringing people together, a legacy that continues even after his passing. Jim’s spirit will forever shine bright in the hearts of those he touched. His laughter, kindness, and love will be deeply missed.

Age 93, of East Sparta, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024.  He was born Dec. 20, 1930 in Canton, a son of the late Paul and Mary (Garner) Johanning, and was a life resident of this area.  Bob was a 1948 graduate of Canton South High School, and retired in 1991 from Washington Steel Co. (Republic Steel) with 20 years’ service, where he was an overhead crane operator.  He was a member of Canton First Christian Church and between there and East Sparta Christian Church he taught Sunday School for 50 years, and served as an Elder at both churches.  Bob honorably served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict for 13 months and with the National Guard he served a total of 6 ½ years.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Rose Marie (Black) Johanning, on March 23, 2021, and a brother, Paul W. Johanning, Jr.  He is survived by a daughter and son, Diane (Don) Airhart and Paul (Darlene) Johanning; three grandchildren, Katelyn (Chris) Becker, and their children, Madison and Macklen, Matthew (Alison) Johanning and her daughter, Sophia Selby and their son, Jack, and Nathan Airhart.

Age 70, of Magnolia, passed away Fri., Mar. 22, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born Dec. 14, 1953, in Canton to the late Chester and Helen (Henderson) Eddy and was part of East Canton’s 1972 graduating class. Lou Ann owned and operated the Waynesburg Grill for many years where she cooked some of the best foods and shared some of her favorite recipes. Most referred to her as “mom”, and boy did she surpass the role with wise words, a loving heart, and open arms. If she wasn’t at work, she was at her home away from home, Disney.
Lou Ann is survived by daughters, Jodi Pendleton (Kevin Hileman), Jamie Pendleton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis (Rebecca) Eddy and Ty (Kellie) Pendleton; one brother and sister-in-law, Denny (Jeanette) Eddy; three granddaughters, Ella Pendleton, Jadzia Eddy and Justice Adams; one great granddaughter, Cadence Adams; and one great grandson, Gunnar Adams. Lou Ann, an amazing mother and grandmother, put up such a strong fight against cancer and will forever be loved and missed beyond belief. Carrie Lousie Calderone from Niles, Ohio, passed away peacefully in Canton Ohio on January 21, 2024, with her loved ones by her side. She was a fabulous 101 years young, born on November 13, 1922 in Niles, Ohio, a daughter of the late Vito and Fanny (Ross) Ciminero, and had resided in Canton since 2006. She accomplished many things in her life. She graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1940, where she met the love of her life, Adone “Cal” Calderone. They got married and had 75 beautiful years together. They started a family and shared many hobbies and laughs together. Carrie was talented at many things throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. Some of her talents included being an excellent golfer, bowler, cooking, crocheting, boating with her son, and being her husband’s biggest supporter. She was a long-time member of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles. Carrie was always there when you needed a good friend, always surrounded by the ones she loved the most. She truly was life’s biggest light. Her smile could light up any room and her cooking could fill any belly, especially with her wedding soup and potato pizza.
Carrie is survived by her two sons Greg and Ron Calderone, her granddaughter Jenna Calderone and her great grandson Jaxon Clites. She will be missed dearly but may she have eternal peace and happiness, and be united with her one true love Cal. May they walk hand and hand together forever.  Carrie will always be sunshine. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home with Fr.  Scott Kopp officiating. Age 84, of North Canton, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024.  He was born February 7, 1939 in Canton, a son of the late Ralph and Thelma (Monnard) Craddock, and was a resident of Canton most of his life.  Tom was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School, and attended Muskingum College where he played football.  He was retired from The Hoover Co. after almost 30 years of service, where he was a Foreman and also ran the Hoover Sales Center.  Tom was a life member of First Christian Church and the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class.  He and Mary loved living on Lake Cable for 25 years, riding on their pontoon boat, and hosting parties for family and friends.  Tom was a member of the Lake Cable Sportsman Club and on the Float Boat committee.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and playing cards and games with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Bucher, and a great-grandson, Jesse Adkins.  Tom was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife, Mary (Bernard) Craddock, with whom they would have celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on January 30th; four daughters, Lorie (Jess) Adkins, and their children, Jason (Kacie) Adkins, and their son, Josiah; Jennifer (Daniel) Deetz, and their daughter, Victoria / Terrie (Alan) Robbins, and their daughters, Ashley (Alex) Irwin and Sarah Robbins /  Sherry (Jeff) Graham, and daughters, Dawn Graham, and her daughters, Lauren and Angelina; Stephanie Graham (Michael Yoder); and Nicole Graham /  Patty (Julian) Taylor, and her children, Kenny (Christine) Beck, Jr., and their children, Lexi, Josh, Zach, and Leo; Joe (Sarah) Beck; Amanda (Ernesto) Salvatierra, and their daughters, Esther and Eden.

She and her husband, Jim, traveled extensively in retirement, with their favorite destination being Myrtle Beach.  She also enjoyed many years as a Red Hatter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Yeager, three sisters and two brothers, Carolyn Radel, Elizabeth Cairns, Donna Ellenger, Raymond Evans, and Clarence Evans.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, James A. Rollins, with whom she would have celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on June 10th this year; one daughter and one son, Linda (John) Litman and Tim (Danielle) Rollins; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Shawna Yeager, Ashley (Kevin) Pruitt, and their children, Madyson, Trenton and Kevin, Jonathan (Megan) Litman, and their children, Jonathan and Lainey, Justin Litman (Megan), Aaliyah Litman, Taylor Rollins, Jasmin (DeAnte) Shaffer, and their children, Rilynn and Kingston. Obituary Preview: Age 68, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023.  He was born April 26, 1955 in Canton, a son of the late Wendell and Margaret “Peg” (Hawkins) Rice, and was a life resident.  Todd was a 1973 graduate of Jackson High School.  He had been a salesman of dental products and eyeglasses for over forty years .While growing up, he helped his dad at Rice's Pharmacy in Lake Cable.  He was a member of Church of The Lakes.  Todd had been a volunteer fireman for the Jackson Fire Department.  He really enjoyed his cars, music, waterskiing, his dogs, and his pontoon boat on Lake Cable.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Heidi Brown.  Todd is survived by his wife, Teree (Tremelling) Rice, with whom he celebrated their 39th Wedding Anniversary on June 2nd; three children, Haley and John Becker, and their children, Addison and John Jeffrey, Grayson Rice and Tanner Rice; his mother-in-law, Betty G. Tremelling; one sister and one brother, Wendy and Scott Lloyd, and Colin and Harriet Rice; a brother-in-law, Paul Brown; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Loree and Roy King, who were so helpful to Todd.

Bailey Ministries.  Carole was a member of the Sanctuary Church of God in East Canton, where she was Counseling Pastor.  She had volunteered as a Bible teacher at the Residential Treatment Center on Faircrest St. SW for over 30 years, and had been Peer Counselor for 20 years at the Pregnancy Support Center in Canton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard J. Herbert, on Jan. 16, 2023, one sister and five brothers, Diane Stillion, Mahlon, Edward, Virgil, Phillip, and Gary Feiock, and a son-in-law, Fred Carrico.  Carole is survived by three daughters and one son, Tammy Carrico, Melissa (Joseph) Collier, Joy Dawn (Joseph) Hester, and Richard A. Herbert; three brothers, Kenneth (Phyllis) Feiock, Ronald Feiock, and Jerry Feiock; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. It is with deep sorrow that the family of David Allan Mills announce his passing on December 17th, 2023 at Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care in Canton, Ohio.  David was born on May 3rd, 1952 in Columbiana, Ohio, the son of the late Van Allan Mills Jr. and the late Kathryn Jean Snay Mills.  David and his wife, Annette, were married on July 4, 1992 surrounded by their loved ones at their home in Canton, Ohio.  Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Annette Mills, three sons, Christopher (Sydney) Mills of Mooresville, NC., David Jr. (Stephanie) of Hillard, OH., Andrew (Katya) Melott of Avon, OH; two daughters, Tiffany (Thomas) Shepard of East Canton, OH., and Mindy Melott of Valdese, NC; sister Chryal (Ernest) Nichols of Omaha, NE; three brothers, James (Cindy) Mills of Charlotte, NC., Van “Chuck” Mills of Newark, OH., Michael Mills of Zanesville, OH; and sister-in-law, Julie Mills of Chandler, AZ. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.  He was proceeded in death by his brother, Ronald Mills of Chandler, AZ.  David was a hardworking, loving father and husband who was always the life of the party. His passion for sports was exemplified by his unwavering support of his children and grandchildren at every sporting event he attended. He was a die-hard Ohio sports fanatic who would never miss a second of a Buckeyes, Indians, Cavs, or Browns game. Age 96, of Canton, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023.  She was born November 3, 1927 in Canton, a daughter of the late Vasile and Suzanna (Curian) Toma, and was a life resident.  Anna was a 1945 graduate of Timken Vocational High School.  Anna had been employed by Thurin’s and R. & J. Furniture Stores as head seamstress in the drapery department.  She had been a member of St. George’s Romanian Byzantine Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, George Toma, Charles “Chick” Toma, Caroline Buzille, and Florence Paul.  Anne is survived by her sister, Mary “Chicka” Calendine, and many nieces and nephews.

David S. Mulheim of Perry Township, passed away on October 29, 2023, following a courageous battle with prostate cancer. David was born March 27, 1950 to the late Earl and Ruth (Lockard) Mulheim. He was a 1969 graduate of Perry High School and retired from Beaver Excavating after 32 years’ service.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Brad Mulheim. He is survived by his wife, Helen “Bird” (Harmon) Mulheim, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 6, 2023; two sons, Justin (Meredith) Mulheim of Kent, and Jarrod (Stacy) Mulheim of Richville, three grandchildren, Grant, Theodore, and Leah Mulheim, and one brother, Gary Mulheim of Richville.
David was an avid hunter with many trophy mounts among his prized possessions.  He enjoyed his many horses and ponies and attending the POA shows in Ohio, Michigan and Iowa.

Richard B. Loughry, age 83, of Sebring, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023. He was born June 7, 1940, in Canton, the son of the late Bernard and Harriet (Schnake) Loughry. Richard was a 1958 graduate of Canton McKinley High, where he played basketball for the Bulldogs. He attended Kent State University, where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1962. He later earned a master's degree in Education and an Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree at Kent State. Richard taught Spanish and History in Canton City Schools for 32 years, primarily at McKinley and some at Crenshaw Junior High. He retired in 1995 and then taught part time for several years at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and as an adjunct professor at Walsh University.
A devoted McKinley fan, Richard was a longtime booster and member of the Bulldog Athletic Association. He attended 76 consecutive McKinley-Massillon football games from 1953 to 2022 and was a regular at Fawcett Stadium and the Memorial Field House for countless McKinley games throughout the years. Always quick to share stories about McKinley athletics, he was a featured historian in Timeless Rivals, a 2017 documentary about the fabled McKinley-Massillon rivalry.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Humphrey), with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 21; one daughter, Alicia, one son, Eric (Rachel Harris), and five grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Crandall Medical Center and the Hospice of the Valley for their care of Richard.

Bonnie grew up on a farm and loved riding her horses.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Randy V. Barnes, with whom she would have celebrated their 19th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 30th; one daughter, Danyelle (Rod) Sweitzer, two sons, Steve (Kristen) Barnes and Jeff (Carley) Barnes, eight grandchildren; one sister and one brother, Diane Eshelman and Dale (Margaret) Eshelman.

Age 78, of Canton, passed away Wed., Oct. 11, 2023.  He was born August 10, 1945 in Canton, a son of the late William and Jayn (Clark) Kemp, and was a life resident except for 15 years in Columbus. Doug was a 1963 graduate of McKinley High School, and retired in 2005 from AEP, after almost 20 years’ service, where he was a project manager. He loved to play golf. His father was killed in the Battle of The Bulge, and Doug proudly served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Doug is survived by his wife, Shirley A. (Hockenberry) Kemp, with whom he celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary on July 26th; one son, Larry (Patricia) Moore, and two grandchildren, Leigha (Tim) Petrosius, and Jillian (Wyatt) Hatter. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, at 10:45 a.m. in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with Pastor Keith Stephens officiating, and with Military Honors. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sat., November 4, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at La Pizzaria, 3656 Dressler Rd. NW, Canton, OH 44718. The Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
