In 1946, June’s family moved her to Hopkins, Michigan where she graduated from Hopkins High School Class of 1956. She met and married Walter Krug on August 31, 1957 and they went on to have three children together. Unfortunately, Walter passed in 2006, leaving June to learn to continue without him. She spent 29 years as the food service supervisor for the Hopkins Public Schools. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting mittens, sewing, playing golf and bowling. She was also an avid reader. June was known as a great cook, baker and cake decorator. Her favorite hobby, and one she took great pride in, was entering her canned and baked goods into the Allegan County Fair and collecting over 1000 ribbons for her efforts. Being a mom, grandma and great-grandma brought her great joy and also gave her extra reasons to do all of her hobbies, providing food and mittens to her family. Her spunky personality and quick wit is already missed by those who loved her.
June leaves behind her three daughters, Beverly Areaux, Carrie Krug, and Amy (Steve) Pattillo; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Deel) Davis, Jr.; and three sisters, Joyce Jones, Carrie (John) Mulder, and Judy Kennedy.

Amado Resendiz-Gutierrez - January 03, 1973 - November 10, 2022

Departed: 11/10/2022 (Allegan)
Obituary Preview: Amado Resendiz Gutierrez, 49, was born January 3, 1973, to the late Amado Resendiz Castillo and Emma Gutierrez de Resendiz in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a long battle with Colorectal Cancer in the early morning of November 10, 2022 at his home in Allegan.
Amado grew up as the youngest of four brothers (David, Armando, Fernando) and eight sisters (Sofia, Mona, Pilar, Amada, Rocio, Angeles, Claudia, Karla), and graduated from Melchor Ocampo. He often told stories of his first job working third-shift at a bakery, where he filled donuts with various jellies, and created a lifelong aversion. After graduating, Amado began work collecting bills and verifying credit. This work felt unfulfilling to him, and he quickly decided it wasn’t what his life was meant to be. In his search for something more, Amado moved to Guadalajara, Mexico in 1993 to live and work with his two eldest brothers. It was there that he had found two of the great loves of his life: carpentry and his life partner.
In January of 1994, Amado met Leslie Richlich and knew instantly that she would be someone very special to him. While Leslie soon had to return home to the U.S., plans were already in the works for their next moments together, and after two years of frequent travel and love letters, Amado and Leslie made the decision to start their family. Despite his not knowing English and his great love for his family in Mexico, they knew this journey together would bring them back to Leslie’s hometown. They welcomed their first daughter, Allie, in January of 1996, with Amado’s arrival in the U.S. following shortly after. Amado and Leslie married on April 5, 1996 in the Richlich family home. Deciding their family was not yet complete, the couple welcomed another daughter, Emma, in August of 1999. Amado spent the next two decades of his life honing his skilled craft, caring deeply for his family, and enjoying each moment he was given. In January of 2017, Amado underwent a 12-hour heart procedure to complete a septuple bypass. During his long road to recovery, Amado made the decision to once again push himself further. By 2020, Amado had achieved his long-time dream of moving his woodworking operations into his own workshop. In January of 2021, Amado was gifted with the birth of his grandson, Owen McDaniel, who served as the brightest light in the last years of Amado’s life. His love for his family carried him through his cancer diagnosis in the spring of 2021, and pushed him to seek treatments from every possible avenue.
Amado took great pride in the work he’d done, hosting impromptu tours of works in progress and pointing out houses on family drives throughout Southwest Michigan. He enjoyed his many years as owner/operator of R & R Custom Finish and the flexibility that it brought in allowing him to be present and active in the lives of his daughters, never missing a school event or softball game. He tried to return to Mexico whenever possible, and spoke often and lovingly of the family he’d left back home. He will be remembered for this great pride in his work and for his family, his goofy jokes, realistic optimism, perseverance, and his many roles as a wonderful husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. A note from his family members in Mexico:
Amaste con tanta fuerza; que tú bondad y recuerdo siempre estará grabado en nuestros corazones. (You loved so hard; that your goodness and memory will always be engraved in our hearts.)
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife and life partner of nearly 27 years, Leslie Richlich Resendiz; his daughters, Allie (Jason) McDaniel and Emma Resendiz; his grandson, Owen McDaniel; his three brothers, David (Carmen), Armando (Martha), and Fernando; seven of his sisters, Mona, Pilar, Amada (Tano), Rocio, Angeles, Claudia, and Karla; and many, many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Amado is preceded in death by his mother and father, Emma and Amado Resendiz; eldest sister, Sofia Resendiz; niece, Cynthia Damaris Resendiz; father-in-law, Jerome Richlich; and sister-in-law, Elisa Rivera de Resendiz.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. His family will be taking him home to his final resting place next June, honoring his love for his country, and releasing his ashes into the Gulf of Mexico. Upon confirmation of details, they will be hosting a Celebration of Life for family and friends from Michigan in the Spring of 2023. More information will be shared at a later time. In his last years of life, Amado wanted to ensure his message was shared with everyone he knew: ● Listen to your body: you and you alone know what is and is not right for how you feel. Do not ignore the
signs your body is giving you that something is not right. ● Get the tests and do the screenings: get them early and get them often. Fear, embarrassment, laziness–
there’s no excuse. These procedures and work-ups are life-saving and necessary.
Amado was diagnosed at 48 but had suffered from cancer for an estimated 10 years prior to diagnosis. At the time of his diagnosis, he had already been feeling the symptoms, and the cancer had spread. It is never too soon to get tested, and you can never be too young to be diagnosed. Cancer does not discriminate.
The American Cancer Society reports that 1 in 23 men and 1 in 25 women will be diagnosed with Colorectal cancer. Colorectal Cancer is the second most common cause of cancer deaths in the United States. The recommended age to begin colonoscopies is 45, but can be scheduled through your primary care provider, or by asking for a referral to see a gastroenterologist.

Timothy-Jake Murray Visser - June 09, 1994 - October 06, 2022

Departed: 10/06/2022 (Allegan)
Obituary Preview: Timothy-Jake Murray Visser, 28 of Allegan, Michigan, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 6, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born June 9, 1994 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was the son of Daryl Visser and Darlene (Foster) Strickler. Timothy-Jake, known to most as TJ, although he lived a short life, he made his imprint on this world and the lives he touched. Those blest to have known him were subject to his caring and kind nature. He was a jack of all trades willing to share his time and assistance to anyone in need. Being humble and selfless were just two wonderful traits of this “old soul” who brought so much joy to others. He loved to work, almost to a fault, but also enjoyed getting out to travel and see new surroundings. TJ loved all types of music, along with listening to audio books. Working on cars and woodworking were a few of TJ’s passions, as well as spending time outdoors in nature. His contagious laugh, passionate disposition, and loving nature, along with his genuineness, made TJ easy to be around. Though on the other hand, he was known for his stubbornness and determination, which (most times) were wonderful qualities to possess. TJ was a loving son, brother, husband, father, friend and confidante that was taken away all too soon. He may be gone, but never far.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ashley; their three children, Brendon, Aleaha, and Jack; his father, Daryl (Marsha Moore) Visser; his mother and stepfather, Darlene and Don Strickler; his siblings, Rachael (Kyle) Sheaffer, Bryce (Brittney) Strickler, and Chanz Strickler; his sister-in-love, Brittany Bass; and many nieces and nephews.
TJ was preceded in death by his brother, Brett Visser; and his Grandma and Grandpa Visser.
The family will meet with friends on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. The Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the First Church of God located at 1313 Marshall St., Allegan, Michigan 49010, with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to TJ’s family in care of Ashley Visser, 3687 109th Ave., Allegan, Michigan 49010. The family wishes to thank Elara Caring Hospice and all of those who have reached out and been there for them over the last several months. Your love and support have meant a great deal to them.

David Bennie Waanders - August 24, 1932 - September 02, 2022

Departed: 09/02/2022 (Allegan)
Obituary Preview: David Bennie Waanders, 90, lifelong resident of Allegan, MI passed away peacefully Friday, September 2, 2022, at Allegan County Medical Care Community where he had resided for the past five and a half years. Born August 24, 1932, he was the son of the late Benjamin Gerrit and Hilda Florence (Glaze) Waanders. Dave graduated from Allegan High School in 1951. Two years later, on February 7, 1953, he married Irene Ann Carns and together they have raised three children, Jane, Chuck and Mark. Dave was a member of the Allegan United Methodist Church for 79 years joining at age eleven.
Dave began working with his father at the age of 14 driving a dump truck, at the time the company was called Ben Waanders, and is now Waanders Concrete, where he worked with his sons, Mark and Chuck. During his senior year of high school, he built bins for the mixing plant and earned credit toward graduation. Dave’s strong work ethic was non-stop throughout his life and, even after retirement, he never really stopped working, he always had a project. He loved to help Irene at the fairgrounds. Not being able to run the heavy equipment any more didn’t deter Dave. He could be found working in the yard, and riding his golf cart with his dog Max. Basically, if there was a motor and wheels, that’s where he’d be.
Dave had many interests and hobbies outside of work. Some of his favorite pastimes were going camping, square dancing, and going to Florida. Dave also enjoyed listening to old time country music. He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies in the mornings and afternoons; a tradition that started at Ruby’s and ended up at Village Inn. Even after suffering a stroke, Dave’s daughter Jane, made sure to take him. He was always on the lookout for goodies to satisfy his sweet tooth at the office, made by his daughters in law, Mary and Bridget. Throughout his life Dave could be a bit of a rascal. This was true even during his years at Allegan Medical Care Community where he found great joy in tormenting the staff. He kept his sense of humor, up to the end.
In addition to his wife of sixty-nine years, Irene, he is survived by his children, Jane Waanders (Lon Hoyer), Charles (Mary Ann) Waanders and Mark (Bridget) Waanders; grandchildren, Andrew (Lisa) Waanders, Sarah (Adam) Azar, Brittany (Justin) Nahikian, Gerrit Waanders and Gage (Kana) Waanders; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Abigail, Elowyn, Everlie and Blake Waanders, Piper and Palmer Nahikian and Jack and Max Azar; brother, Fred (Judy) Waanders; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Waanders; and his sister, Carrol J. Germain.
The family will receive friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at Allegan United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 1:00 PM with interment following at Hudson Corners Cemetery.
