Rodney Davis - September 13, 1961 - May 16, 2023

Departed: 05/16/2023 (Shreveport)
Obituary Preview: MR. RODNEY "ROCCO" DAVIS
Graveside Service for Mr. Rodney "Rocco" Davis will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, 1:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Park. Open Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday Night at Good Samaritan Funeral Home. Rodney Theron Davis affectionately known as "Rocco" was born September 13, 1961, in Shreveport, Louisiana to
Gloria Jean and Theron Davis, who preceded him in death. He was the first-born grandson on both sides of family. With the guidance of his parents and grandparents, Rodney accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord through baptism
at an early age. In his younger years he was an avid athlete. Rodney attended public schools in Caddo Parish, attending Green Oaks High School and graduating from Byrd High School in 1979. There he played golf, softball, football, and was
extremely gifted in basketball. Rodney entered into holy matrimony to the beautiful Renee Smith almost 25 years ago. They blended a family of 7
children and 13 grandchildren. Rocco loved the San Francisco 49ers, Grambling State University and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He spent his free time watching various sports games on TV and giving his opinionated commentary to anyone who would listen. Monday and Friday nights were split between a good football game and the WWE with
family and friends.
Rodney was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart. He touched thousands of lives.
Relatives and friends could count on Rodney to help with anything. "No" was not an option. Quiet and reserved, Rodney could make you think deeper without saying much. A quick pun or witted comment drove any point home. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor was unmatched and will
be missed. Rodney was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. His ability to promote growth was unlimited. On any day you could find Rodney working in the yard and his garden. He had a green thumb like no other. He produced lush green grass and a bountiful amount of fruits and vegetables. He
could grow anything. Bell Peppers, tomatoes, collard greens, or cucumbers were staples of his garden. He loved his wife. There was nothing he wouldnt do for her. Even if it meant going to work with her on an
extra job. He told her each day how much he loved her. Rodney was fortunate to have a very large family of which he loved dearly. He will be remembered and cherished in
all the hearts he shared. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. Rodney extended his love beyond immediate family. Many others were vital in his life. He will be cherished by his Exceptionally Close Cousin Gary Davis; Beloved Mother-in-Love Lucy Goshen; and Close Friends Michael
Wollman and Donald "Dre" Drake. The true image of his life and legacy will be shown in his beloved grandchildren Treasjure, Railey, Makenzie,
Pattison, Braxtin, Cali, TaJessica, ShaTyila, Aaliyah, Jania, JaLeah, LeAaron, Jr., and Jordan.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father Theron Davis; his mother Gloria Collins Davis; his brother Vincent B.
Davis; his sister Tina Davis Brown, his grandparents, Velma & Margie B. Davis and Willard & Linnis Collins. He leaves the following people to continue to keep his memory and share his story with others:
His loving wife Renee Davis of almost 25 years. His Children Larenzo Chatman (Tanya); Timberly Blake (Chris), Phoenix, AZ; Shon Braden Vernon, Atlanta, GA;
Latoyia Pouncy (Patrick); Brandon Howard (Jovonna); LeAaron Youngblood (Ciara); and LaTheron Youngblood. Rodneys siblings: Althea Washington (Donald Sr.), Mesquite, Tx; Darren Davis (Cynthia); LaGregory Davis, Baton Rouge, La; Deborah White (Jerome), Dallas, Tx; Nigel Davenport (Racheal); Shanita Davenport; Jeffrey Musgrove Sr. (Robin), Columbia, Mo; Regina LaVarry; Reginald Musgrove (April); Terrance Musgrove (Marlo), Tyler, Tx;
Roderick Smith; Annetta Taylor, St. Louis, Mo; Timothy Smith (Carolyn), Fort Worth, Tx; and Jannifer Smith.
