Departed: 01/24/2022 (Valdosta)
Obituary Preview: God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be So He put His arms around you And whispered ‘Come with Me.’ It is with sincere sympathy that Gatlin Mortuary Inc. announces the passing of Mr. Robert Glanton. We are honored to be selected by his family to serve them with excellence through professional service.   ~Modern Day Services with Traditional Values~ Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound… As it is recorded, the late Lucius Smith and Marie Glanton Smith were blessed with the birth of their first and only child, Robert Ree Smith, on the 5th day of October, One Thousand and Thirty-Seven years after the ascension of his Savior, Jesus Christ. As the record reflects, Marie passed during childbirth and her parents, Bishop Robert Cornelius Glanton and Mother Beulah Coley Glanton, became the adopting and rearing parents of Robert. He took on the Glanton name, Robert Ree Glanton. As it is recorded, he attended Dixie County Schools, grew up as a PK kid , and a member of Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ with his dad as his pastor. He always said that his desire to see the world was because life as a PK kid involved: waking up church, eating church, living church, and going to bed church. As the record reflects, at the age of 20, Robert met and married Fleater Mae Carter, and to that union one child was born, a girl, Bobbie. Shortly after that, Robert was drafted in the Army, stationed in Germany; he was honorably discharged and headed to his uncle's home in Chicago to find and establish a residence for his wife and daughter. As it is recorded, he enjoyed a life of golfing and met many friends from the east coast to the west coast of this nation. He saw as much of the world as he desired and afterwards, he returned to his roots of faith and belief in the Word. The Word that he believed continued to sustain him even while he was in the world. He earned the worldly name, “Cadillac Bob”. While in the world, he stated Jonah Carter, his brother-in-law, was the minister that encouraged him and others to never stop believing and trusting in the grace and mercy of God no matter their lifestyles. As the record reflects, a reared son, Oscar, up to the day of Robert’s departure, made him very proud, he often spoke of how Oscar filled the void of the son he had always desired. While stationed in Germany, a daughter was birthed to him, Julchen; she never got to visit him in the states. About a year ago, he relocated to Sebring to live with his daughter and son-in-law, co-pastors of The Living Body of Christ, Inc., where he became a faithful tithing member. He leaves to cherish his memories: Dr. Bobbie Ree Smith-Powell (Rev. Anthony) of Sebring, FL, Julchen Muller and Tanya Sumner of Germany, Oscar McCleese and Karen (Net) Diggs both of Michigan, and Lawanda Keeton of Texas; granddaughter, Jamie of Georgia; grandsons, Narrasheod of Kentucky, Darrell, Tarick, Bennie Jr., and Jason, all of Florida; step-grands, Adbullah, Jamar, Anthony II, Tiffany, and Imani; a host of great-grands and step-great-grands; sisters-in-law, Flora Mae, Joy (Anthony), Rhunette (Johnny), and Sandra (Ira Sr.); brother-in-law, Thomas Carter; some very special and close kin, Louise, Bernice, Deb, Ed, Ronnie, Cheryl, and Ryan; and two very special godsisters, Harriet (Puddin) Daniels and Sally Mae Daniels. He left me in a moment. In a twinkling of an eye, you were absent from the body!
