Obituary Preview: Jeffrey Ray “Jeff” Revels, 64, of Live Oak, passed away on Saturday morning, April 23, 2022 after a illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on April 23, 1958 to the late James Revels and Yvonne Carter Revels. He has made the North Florida area his home his entire life and worked with PCS/Nutrien for over 17 years as a Locomotive Engineer. He has also been the part owner of Farmhouse Antiques in Lake Park, Georgia since 2004. In his spare time, he enjoyed antiquing, going to yard sales, loved history and gardening. He also enjoyed doing genealogical work in his spare time as well on his family.
He is survived by his companion of over 43 years, Alan Jones of Live Oak; sisters, Kebra Galt (Odie) of Canton, GA, Gaye Lynn Norman (Steve) of Lake City and Jamie Revels-Reynolds (Tony) of Dunwoody, GA. He is also survived by his “adopted daughter” and her mother, Kelly and Shirley Hall both of Ray City, GA.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday evening, April 26, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A funeral service for Jeff will be conducted on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway –Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Victor Hendry officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Larry Stanton Smith, 75 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, at his home with his family at his side. He was born in Lake City, Florida, the fifth child of seven, to the late Albert Stanton Smith and Dorothy E. Tyson Smith.  Mr. Smith was raised in the Providence community of Union County and attended Union County High School.  He worked for 22 years with S&S Food Stores as a Maintenance Contractor and also many years privately.  Mr. Smith loved his work and visiting with his customers.  He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Mr. Smith was of the Baptist faith.  Preceding him in death were his parents; and four siblings, Charles E. Smith, Christine Hale Petry, Albert Marvin Smith and M. Wayne Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 54 ½ years, Margaret Hall Smith, Lake City; his daughter, Sherrie Gail Smith Thomas (Arness), Lake City his son, Phillip Smith (Michele), Crestview; two brothers, Terry Smith, Lake Butler and David L. Smith (Gloria), Lake City; four grandchildren, Austin Smith, Panama City Beach, Joshua Thomas (Brittney), Lake City, Tara Harris (Caleb), Lake City and Ashlee Smith, Crestview; one great-grandchild due in October of 2022; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Obituary Preview: Franklin Delano (Del) Cason, 88, of Lake City, passed away at Haven Hospice on April 20, 2022, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lulu, Florida on November 29, 1933 to the late Talmadge Dewitt Cason and Jimmie Lois Anderson Cason. Del was a member of the Columbia High School Class of 1952 and he served in the U.S. Navy in 1956. He retired from the Florida Department of Revenue in March of 1993. He loved his life on the farm in south Columbia County with his wife of 66 years, Lillian Martin Cason. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Martin Dudley Cason; and his brothers, Donald Cason; Grayson Cason; and P.D. Cason.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian and daughter Delan Cason-Etheridge; his only granddaughter who adored him, Della Katharine Crone (Andrew) of Greensboro, NC; his great-grandchildren, Cason Mitchell Crone and Parker Katharine Crone. He is also survived by his two sisters, Abbie Mann and Robbie Sue Burris (Marvin) of Lake City.
A memorial service for Mr. Cason will be conducted at a later date. The family request that donations be made to the Haven Hospice of Lake City, Mikesville Presbyterian Church or Meridian Behavioral Healthcare.

Obituary Preview: Annie Lee Kerce Horne, 86, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 18, 2022, after an extended illness. She was born in Starke, Florida, on November 17, 1935, to the late P.J. Kerce and Mildred Louise Phillips Kerce. She has lived most of her life in the Lake City area and was a member of the Hopeful Baptist Church. She served as a corporate leader and board member for the company that developed and managed hotels in Lake Buena Vista, Orlando, and other Florida locations. As a partner in business with her husband, she developed Florida residential and commercial communities and in her spare time enjoyed entertaining associates and friends from around the world. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Kermit Ray Horne, Sr.; and her brother, George A. Kerce.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Horne and Patti Horne Bass (Billy); sons, Ray Horne (Susan) and Joe Horne (Liliana); brothers, Johnny Kerce (Myrtle) and P.J. Kerce, Jr.; sisters, Margie Markham, Mary Greene (L.N.), Linda Harris (James), and Goldie Hudson (Wayne). Six grandchildren along with numerous extended family members and friends also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Horne will be conducted on Thursday afternoon, April 21, 2022, at 3:00 P.M. in the Hopeful Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Young, Rev. Tommy Hudson and Mr. David Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Corazon Campbell who passed in 2008. He leaves behind his daughter, Rachel Connors, her husband and Frank’s golfing buddy, Brian of Ocean Springs, Ms; his son, Robbie of Lake City, Fl ,who will now live with his sister; his beloved granddaughter, Alyssa Connely and her husband, Austin of Pascagoula, Ms; and his wife, Susan of Lake City, Fl.

He was born in Lake City on April 9, 1951 to the late Lonnie Melton Clyatt, Jr. and Joyce Terrell Clyatt. He has been a resident of Providence all of his life; and was a member of the Old Providence Baptist Church. He worked for over 35 years as a Computer Tech with RCA/GE/IBM; and in his spare time, enjoyed restoring old cars, going to the races and drag races as well as to old car shows. He was also a Mason and Shriner; and loved his nephews, great nieces & nephews dearly.
He is survived by his brother and sister, Ricky Clyatt and Shelly Baisden; nephews, Brad Clyatt (Tracy), Jason Baisden (Courtney) and Jeremy Baisden; great nieces and nephews, Taryn, Taylor & Tyson Clyatt; Blair, Brennan, Bryleigh, Brianna, Brooklyn and Blaze Baisden. He is also survived by his very special friend, Carolyn Hosford.
A Memorial service for Steve will be held on Friday morning, April 22, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service.

She has made the North Florida area her home most of her life and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a 1958 graduate of Columbia High School where she was a member of the Future Homemakers of America Club and a member of the basketball team. She and her husband, H.L. Thomas, owned and operated New Method Dry Cleaners for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching Bonanza and Gunsmoke; as well as, traveling to her family place in the North Carolina Mountains, cross stitching and scrapbooking. She is preceded in death by her son, Devin H. Thomas.
She is survived by her son, Mark L. Thomas (Kimberly); brothers, Milo David “Bud” Miles (Virginia) and Neil E. Miles (Sheriden). Four grandchildren; Kurt M. Thomas, Christopher M. Thomas (Kalen), Bradley Keil Snider (Erin) and Mason Laruen Thomas along with four great-grandchildren also survive.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Georgia S. Cason, Lake City; one son, James Randall Cason (Priscilla), Lake City; one daughter, Marshanna Henck (Walter), Lake City; and four grandchildren, Walt Henck, Jr., Jessica Cason, Shelby Cason and Joseph Cason.

Obituary Preview: James “Jimmy” Francis Murphy, 66 of Lake City, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the Lake City Medical Center.  He was born the third of five children to the late Thomas Richard Murphy and Elizabeth Ann Fletcher Murphy.  Mr. Murphy had lived in Lake City since 1969 and was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1973.  Following high school he worked for 28 years with General Electric in Alachua and then he worked for both Nextran Truck Center and Hunter Panels in Lake City.  He was known to many of his friends as “CAT Murphy” because he always wore a Caterpillar hat.  Mr. Murphy enjoyed gardening, welding and most importantly spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Richard Murphy and Elizabeth Ann Treverrow Murphy; one brother and sister in law, Thomas Richard Murphy, Jr. and Denise Murphy; and one great-niece, Sarah Marissa Davis.
Survivors include his son, Travis James Murphy (Breanna), Lake City; three siblings, Patricia Ann Masters, Timothy Brian Murphy (Brenda) and Brian William Murphy all of Lake City; three grandchildren, Declan Murphy, Madeline Murphy and Joseph Murphy all of Lake City; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In his younger years, he enjoyed working on racecars with his father and his great grandfather. He also enjoyed welding in his spare time, fishing and crafting model cars. He was also known to be very gifted when it came to mechanical work. He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Renow Crosby.
He is survived by his wife of over 29 years, Kathleen Crosby; daughters, Jennifer Crosby Baker (Justin) and Katherine Crosby; grandson, Douglas Chester “DC” Henry Baker; brother, Jeffrey Renow Crosby (Beth); mother-in-law, Julia Harvey Young; and his mother, Carolyn Carr Crosby.

Obituary Preview: Matthew Blaze Bedenbaugh, age 18 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at his home.  Blaze was a lifelong resident of Lake City and attended Eastside Elementary School where he served as the School President in 5th grade and he also attended Lake City Middle School through the 8th grade.  Blaze belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Price Creek Ward.  He loved to go hiking and exploring in the woods and would stay gone for hours.  Blaze was really into super heroes with Spider Man being his favorite.  He created many things with his Legos including cars, super heoes and star wars figures. Blaze enjoyed anything racing, especially dirt late models. He was most recently into graphic designing and gaming.  Blaze was preceded in death by his paternal great-grand parents, Arthur and Janie Bedenbaugh and Willie and Bertha Milton; his maternal great-grandfather, John B. Ratliff, Sr.; his maternal great-grandparents, Vivian Kolb and Glen George; and his maternal grandfather, John B. Ratliff, Jr.

He worked for Occidental Chemical Corporation in White Springs as a Drag Line Electrical Mechanic for many years and was a member of The Vineyard Church here in Lake City. In his spare time, he enjoyed aggravating his family and friends any chance he got, fishing, and cooking for his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Ware and his sister, Joann Kotait.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Dicks of Lake City; daughters, Cathy Dicks (Sef Venegas) of Washington State, Jennifer Lynch (Don) of Lake City and Kimberly Dicks of Lake City. Eight grandchildren, Austin L., Charlie, Austin W., Halle, Riley, Sam, Jessie and Tyee; three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Payton and William along with numerous extended family and friends also survive.
A Memorial Visitation will be held for Don on Monday evening, April 11, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

Obituary Preview: William Reilly Rogers, age 6 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Shands at the University Hospital in Gainesville.  Reilly was born in Gainesville to his parents, Josiah Rogers and Dawn Drehoff.  Due to Reilly’s health, he spent almost the last 2 years at Shands Hospital and was known on the “PCICU” as the 10-2 Mascot.  Reilly loved anything that had to do with Sea Creatures and Dinosaurs.  He loved watching cartoons, especially “Paw Patrol” and “Octonauts”.  Reilly’s favorite food was hot chips and drinking Dr. Pepper.  He would often convince the doctors to sneak him snacks at the hospital.  Reilly was a social butterfly and loved to sing and dance.
He is survived by his parents, Josiah Rogers and Dawn Drehoff, both of Lake City; three sisters, Jade Tash, Elora Rogers and Taylor Tash, all of Lake City; many extended family and friends also survive.
A celebration of Reilly’s life will be conducted on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 4:00 PM at the City Church in Lake City.  A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Obituary Preview: Betty Marie Dortch, 85 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Solaris Healthcare of Lake City.  She was born in Carraway, Florida to the late Lloyd Byrd and Lois Thomas Byrd Dicks.  Ms Dortch was raised in Union County and attended Union County High School.  She had made her home in Lake City since 1955 and was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church.  Ms Dortch loved to attend church and was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and was always loyal to her family.  She enjoyed watching her soap operas, games shows and the food network.  Ms Dortch was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John Hilton; and one grandson, John Dortch.
Survivors include her son, Timothy Dortch (Lisa), Lake City; one brother, Robert Byrd (Kathy), Lake City; one sister, Peggy Carter, Lake City; one granddaughter, Amanda Dortch Bryant (Shawn), Lake City; four great-grandchildren, Tucker Dortch, Mayleigh Dortch, Caroliena Bryant and Max Bryant; nephews and nieces, Craig Carter, Lake City, Cliff Carter, Lake City, Michael Hilton (Kelly), Ocala, Amber Knagge (Brian), Providence and Debe Stephenson, Lake Butler.

She is a 1959 High School graduate of Palm Beach High and was a legal secretary for close to 30 years and inspected Church of God Private Schools. She was a Church of God Minister’s wife for close to 40 years, and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly! She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Leland L. Alderman in 2002; her brother, John D. Westbrook, Jr.; her daughters, Vanessa Dawn Alderman and Maranatha Joy Tyler; and her step-son, John Causey.
She is survived by her husband, Larry B. Causey; son, John Marvin Alderman (Celina); daughter, Desiree Steiner (Jim) and step-daughter, Becky Love (Jason); daughter-in-law, Michele Causey; brothers, Doug Westbrook, William Westbrook and Earl Mewbourn (Gail). Sister-in-Law, Betty Coulter (Gene), Palm Bay; Twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Causey will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Evangel Church of God with Pastor Rick Holmes and Pastor John Hathaway officiating. After high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served from 1950-1972, retiring as a Tech Sargent. He was life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Vet Power of America Organizations and the Vineyard Church of Lake City. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, swimming, collecting animals, watching football, especially the Florida Gators and supporting the CHS Tigers. He also loved music and singing; he loved his family dearly and the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Edward Graham and Matilda Terrell Graham; his first wife, Myrtle Floyd Graham; his grandson, James William Graham; his brothers, Henry Edward Graham, Jr., William Earl Graham, Harry R. Graham, Sam Graham and Wesley Graham; and his sisters, Mary Roy, Ruth Conger & Dorothy Adams.
He is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Imogene L. Graham; children, Thomas Alan Graham (Lisa) of St, Augustine, Paula Richards (William) of Lake City and John Timothy Graham of Ft. White; and his brother, James B. Graham (Jessica) of Ocala. Seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Obituary Preview: Thomas Jeffrey “Jeff” Parker, 51, of Lake Butler, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the Haven-Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City after a brief illness. He was born in Gainesville, Florida on July 31, 1970 and has made the Lake Butler/Lake City area his home most of his life. He was currently working for SPATCO as a Heavy Maintenance Crew Leader, and was the one that everyone went to for advice to fix anything. He loved helping people fix things and tinkering on things. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, being outdoors and woodworking. He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Colen Crews.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Joye Crews Parker of Lake Butler; sons, Tyler Parker (Jeanette Smithey) of Lake City and Brant Parker (Rachael Steedley) of Lake Butler; mother, Linda E. Wendel of Lake City; brother-in-law, Brian Crews (Cheyanne) of Lake City; and mother-in-law, Martha Crews of Lake City. Two nieces, Kaitlin and Addison Crews also survive.
A Celebration of Life service for Jeff will be conducted on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Troy Rumore officiating. Obituary Preview: Earl Franklin Kinard, 92 of Fort White, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 20, 1930 to the late William Franklin Kinard and Verdie Agnes Copeland Kinard.  Mr. Kinard was raised in Jacksonville and attended Robert E. Lee High School.  Following school, he served 10 years in the United States Navy during the Korean War, stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville and in 1968 he moved home to Fort White.  Mr. Kinard worked for many years in the Upholstery business in both Jacksonville and Lake City.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was currently attending the Branford Ward in Branford, Florida.  Throughout the years, he held many callings within the church including Counselor to the Bishop, Young Men’s President and served as a Branch Missionary. Missionary work for the church was his true calling.  He loved to visit and home teach families in the church and write to current and former missionaries of the church until his passing.  Mr. Kinard enjoyed ballroom dancing, square dancing, fly fishing, and he taught anyone who wanted to learn.  He loved sports and coached softball for many years for the young men. He was an avid bird hunter and fisherman.  Through the years he hosted many southern fish frys for his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Alice June Kinard; and his wife, Lola Jean Hall Kinard.
Survivors include his children, Wayne Kinard (Alice), Fort White, Karen Edwards (Chubby Thomas), Lake City, Beth Russell (Tim), Lake City, Jenifer Sullivan, Fort White and Kate Tyre (J.D.), Fort White; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren also survive.

She has made Lake City her home since the late 1970s and was an Employment Specialist with Job Junction for many years. She loved her home state of West Virginia, loving to take trip back to visit. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to yard sales, doing interior designs, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and starting her Christmas Shopping early. She was also a huge donator to the local Women’s Shelter in Lake City as well as to the local food banks in Columbia County.
She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Randy Frame of Lake City; sons, Levi Bennett (Lisa Hudson) of Ocala, Chase Frame of Lake City and Caiden Frame of West Virginia; daughters, Angela Bennett (Brad Clark) of Pennsylvania and Cassie Bennett-Burris (Shane) of St. Mary’s, GA; step-sons, Randy Frame, II (Tasha) of West Virginia and Clinton Frame of New Jersey; step-daughter, Jessica Frame (Corey Hunter) of Lake City; and her step-mother, Betsy Brewer. Fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with one on the way also survive.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022 at The Cross Church in Ellisville from 4:00-6:00 P.M. with Rev. Kenneth Edenfield officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME.

He was a lifelong Lake City resident that loved his town and the people in it. “Coach” Ross was a life-long supporter of every Lake City athletic team in town, and could always be found with his friends golfing at Quail Heights, fishing, or cheering on his alma mater, CHS. He never missed an opportunity to encourage anyone he could, and always took the time to actually demonstrate the love of God to the people around him. He loved his family, and most especially his wife Cathy of 45 years. He touched the lives of everyone around him.
He will be missed tremendously by his Wife, Cathy Ross; children, son, Audy and wife Karen, daughter: Melissa and husband Tony; grandchildren, Dustin , Nicholas and wife Shelby, Caitlin and husband Gift, Erin and Jenalyn; great-grandchildren, Zaelah, Kiani and Lance.

He graduated from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. He was an Assembly of  God minister for over 45 years and had been active in ministry until time of death. Pastor Van went to be with the Lord peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on March 24th, 2022, in Lake City, Florida. He has touched many lives through the Gospel and has left a beautiful legacy of soul winning & discipleship. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.
Pastor Van made an impact on everyone he met and faithfully remained a servant of the Lord for the last 67 years. He was a hardworking & compassionate man. He loved to laugh and enjoyed life. His greatest honor was to be a Pastor and his greatest passion was to build relationships with people. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He could be found with a smile on his face right along with a joke to share to make you laugh. His main desire was to serve God and serve his family. We are grateful for the beautiful example he set for our family and the great legacy he has left behind.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Doris Van Vleck, and three siblings Roberta McConnell, Ronald and Everett, and son-in-law Mike Baldree, and grandson Daniel Klump. He is survived by his loving wife, Margie Van Vleck; children Vicky Baldree, Randall Van Vleck, Valerie (Richard) Brinkley, Denise (Rufus) Lawrence, Sonya (Jim) Schmid and Tonya (Chris) Forbes. Eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two siblings Isabel Adams and James Van Vleck, and many nieces and nephews - whom he loved and prayed for regularly.

Pleasant, S.C.  Through his career, Mr. Sink worked for Rodgers (Centex) Construction, Frank J. Rooney (Centex) Construction, Columbia County Construction Management and retiring in 2013 from Moss and Associates Construction as an Operations Manager.  Mr. Sink was the Superintendent for over 17 projects including the Marion County Courthouse, the Osceola County Jail Expansion and the Columbia County Courthouse.  He loved classic cars, being at the beach and playing his guitar.  Mr. Sink was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Tina Gay Sink in 2022.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Tomlinson Sink, Lake City; his son, Ashley Sink (Lori), Pompano Beach, FL; his daughter from a previous marriage, Angela Sink, Winston Salem, NC; and one sister, Kathy Sink Bowden, Winston Salem, NC.

She also enjoyed gardening and whistling to the birds. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eliseo R. Rodriguez; sisters, Cira Ruiz & Gloria Carles; brothers, Raul Ruiz, Miguel Angel Ruiz & Carlos Manuel Ruiz; and her half-brother, Mariano Ruiz.
She is survived by her daughters, Arminda Nelson of Lake City and Aggie Hale (Alan Israels) of Tallahassee; sister, Dora Ruiz of Miami; half-brother, Rodolofo Ruiz;  half-sisters, Isabel Ruiz Gomez and Anita Ruiz Gomez both of Canada. Two grandchildren, John E. Nelson & Jennifer M. Nelson and 6 great-grandchildren, Alexander Nelson, Sierra Nelson, Joseph Bowers, Briana Ricks, Grace Weaver and Alyssa Taylor also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Rodriguez will be conducted on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Thompson and Rev. James Roberts officiating.
