She was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School and earned her Associates Degree from Ivy Tech.
She was employed and retired from Western Electric.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack W. Ragland; children, Jack (Denise) Ragland, Crystal (Larry) Minnix, Connie (Teddy) Bundy, Jerry (Nancy) Ragland; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Joyce Neal.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, James Begley, Lena Rice, Himon Buster Begley, and Bert Begley; grandson, Jeremy Straeter; and great granddaughter, Jayden Wyant.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service time at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5141 Madison Ave, Indianapolis. She will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery.

Betty Claire Brokaw Shay - March 02, 1925 - May 01, 2024

Obituary Preview: Betty Claire Brokaw Shay, 99, of Indianapolis, went home to the Lord on May 1, 2024. She was born in Indianapolis on March 2, 1925, to the late Virgil and Anna Brokaw. She graduated from Shortridge High School in 1943 and several years later moved to Southport, Indiana, with her parents. In Southport she became acquainted with the girls next door who introduced her to their brother, Elmer L. Shay. Betty and Elmer were married on February 14, 1951, and they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary before Elmer’s death in 2012.
Betty worked in the accounting department at Indiana Bell from 1943 - 1953. Later, she was employed by Sears and McGinty Dodge. Betty was always adventurous and loved traveling. While she was young, single woman, she went on many trips with her group of girlfriends from work. The girls went to a dude ranch in Michigan, Pike’s Peak Colorado, New Orleans, the Smokey Mountains and Friday night airplane trips to Chicago, which included a free airline meal to save them money. One year they decided to take Betty’s new car and drive straight through to New York City for New Year’s Eve. Betty, Elmer and their children always took summer vacations, which usually involved a lake, a river or an ocean and fishing. She and Elmer spent their retirement traveling to visit family in California, New Hampshire and family fishing trips to Wisconsin, as well as annual trips to Florida and an Alaskan cruise.
Betty was a loving mother and involved grandmother. She will be remembered for her acts of love and kindness as well as her straight forward advice, whether it was requested or not. She was a woman of hospitality and loved large family gatherings more than anything.
Betty is survived by her children: Susan (Warren) Mathis, Sally (Roger) Wetzel, Scott (Tom Verdin) Shay, Sandra (Steve) Baumgardner and grandchildren: Kenneth Wetzel, Philip (Sarah) Wetzel, Julia Mathis, Stephanie Mathis, Caroline (Timothy Otsu) Mathis, Peter Mathis. Her sister, Marilyn Pugh and brothers, James and Robert Brokaw preceded her in death.
A private graveside service for the family will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis.

Shirley Mercedes (Scott) Jones - February 03, 1939 - April 27, 2024

Obituary Preview: Shirley Mercedes (Scott) Jones, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, entered into eternal rest at the age of 85 on Saturday, April 27, 2024.  A resident of Indianapolis she was born on Friday, February 3, 1939 in Indianapolis to the late Homer Scott and Marie (Huber, Scott) Gibson.
Shirley leaves behind to treasure her memory, her husband of 66 years, William G. “Jerry” “JJ” Jones; children, William “Scott” Jones, Randy Gerald (Cyndy) Jones, Cheryle Lynn (Greg) Smith, Ronald “Alan” Jones and Donald Robert “Donnie Bob” Jones; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Rosie Scott and step brother, Rex (Barb) Gibson, several cousins, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her step father, James Gibson II and siblings brother, Ronald H. Scott, and, and step brothers James Gibson, III and Brian Gibson.
Shirley loved life, and she made the most of every minute. She graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in the class of 1956. She and Jerry were high school sweethearts and they married in 1957. Shirley and Jerry began their family in 1959. She worked at Koch Newspapers & Commercial Freight as a secretary for a few years and then a full-time homemaker. Shirley cared for her children and family members. She was a member of Rosedale Hills United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, was involved in the Disciples class. She also sang with the Good Times Singers. She was a caring and generous person with her time, treasures, and talents. Her favorite time was when the family gathered, and card games were always played. She taught all of her children and grandchildren how to play euchre and Yahtzee. She was very patriotic and made sure a flag was always flying. She volunteered at the voting polls and with St. Francis Sr. Promise group where she and Jerry both volunteered at the hospice program. Shirley enjoyed bowling, some camping, listening to music and dancing. She loved working in her flower bed and doing puzzles and crafts in her spare time.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Rosedale Hills United Methodist Church, 4450 S. Keystone Avenue, Indianapolis, with additional visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Barbara Faye Kreutzberger - September 28, 1932 - April 23, 2024

Obituary Preview: Barbara Faye Kreutzberger, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and family matriarch, went to her Lord on April 23, 2024. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born to the late William (Jeff) and Ruby Vibbert on September 28, 1932. She is reunited with her loving husband of 75 years, William S Kreutzberger, and her son William E Kreutzberger (spouse Pam). Barbara's legacy lives on through her surviving children: Danny (Sharon) Kreutzberger, Kathleen Robinson, Ron Kreutzberger (Danny), Kevin Kreutzberger (Julie). Her heart swelled with immense joy for her family that included 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Barbara was one of 5 siblings – Preston Vibbert, Edward Vibbert, Beatrice Tucker, and Earlene Atkins. She had an unwavering love for her brothers and sisters. They are all together again, forever bonded as family.
A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, she attended Manual High School and pursued a career in retail, where her dedication and professionalism shone through. She was an active member of Southport Heights Christian Church, embodying her faith through service. Barbara was always overflowing with love and laughter as she embraced life to the fullest.
Barbara and Bill were snowbirds and enjoyed their retirement at their Naples, FL home 6 months out of every year. Barbara embraced life with enthusiasm, and it shined through her infectious laugh and in her love for dancing. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing old country music songs by Loretta, Conway, George and Dolly. She enjoyed playing BINGO and shopping on QVC; and always had great luck with those casino slots. Her warmth, generosity, and selflessness were a beacon to all who knew her. She leaves an indelible mark on the countless lives she touched.
Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the extraordinary life of Barbara Faye Kreutzberger. May her spirit continue to inspire us, and may she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones in the embrace of the divine.
Services for Barbara will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, with visitation from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Steven W. Moore; three siblings, Sharlyn Critchlow, Nancy Jo Runyon and Melvin Critchlow.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Jim was a 1971 graduate of Center Grove High School.
Jim owned and operated Victory Towing for 21 years, he ran the wrecker service for the Indianapolis Speedrome, Indiana State Fair, and Marion County Fair. Throughout his career he was a Yellow Shirt at the Indy 500/Brickyard for 30 years.
Jim leaves behind to treasure his memory, his brother, Dave (Pam) Burnett; his sister, Janet Keil; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, David Keil.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. till 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 14th, 1934, with most of her childhood spent in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1956, taught Junior High School, and continued graduate level studies at the University of Minnesota in vocational and educational counseling.
Pat married Raymond Hussey in August 1958.
From 1958-59 she worked as a director of Christian Education at the Mayflower Community Congregational Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She received her Master’s degree in 1974 from Indiana University. She then substitute taught in Perry township for over 20 years.
Pat will be remembered for her beautiful smile and strong faith in God.
She is survived by her husband Raymond, and two children: Paul Hussey of Penfield, NY (Eileen) and Stephen Hussey (Sheila) of Pittsboro, IN. Pat had five grandchildren: John, Samantha, Sarah (Anthony) Jake and Justin and was blessed with a great grandchild Rosalie. She is also survived by her brother Michael Brewer (Alene) of Boca Raton, Florida.
She was an active member of Friedens United Church of Christ.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday April 20th, 2024 at Friedens United Church of Christ at 8300 S Meridian St, Indianapolis, IN 46217. Visitation at Friedens United Church of Christ can be made one hour before the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

He was an electrical assembler at Chrysler for 30 years and then after retiring he worked at Roncalli for 14 years.
Chuck loved spending time with his family, camping, boating, gardening, fishing, playing cards, and water skiing. He also enjoyed fixing things around the house, he liked to stay busy.
Chuck leaves behind to treasure his memory, his wife of 58 years, Marsha A. (Hussion) Eck; children, Cherie Nowacki, and Kevin (Kelly Weaver) Eck; five grandchildren, Drew Nowacki, Lillian Eck, Tyler Weaver, Alison Weaver, and Maddie Weaver; siblings, Theresa Eck and Leo Eck; sister-in-law’s, Janet Smith and Rebecca Worrell; his fur baby, Sammie and his eight grand fur babies, Miley, Marco, Ellie, Pippa, Indie, Remy, Trooper, and Oakley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law, Patty Tabbert.

Sarah graduated from High School in Houston, MS. Where she was active in the school theatre, starring in the lead role in the senior play. She then attended Mississippi State College for Women before she was married to the love of her life, Robert on December 15, 1943. Sarah and Robert walked hand in hand for nearly 79 years before his passing in 2022. They enjoyed traveling, card club with friends, Golf, Bowling, and Ballroom Dancing. They were long-time members of the Southport Baptist Church (One Christian Church) where she was active in teaching Sunday school and the adult “Keenagers” group. For most of her adult life she served as wife and “stay at home” mother caring for her family and others. Sarah will be most remembered for her caring personality, her smile, and her passion to play Bingo with her fellow residents and her love to sing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Roby E. (Sonny) Eure, and her son-in-law Robert Nordsiek.
She is survived by her sister Helen Joyce Lee of Hattiesburg, MS.; daughter, Janice G. (Robert) Nordsiek; son, R. Daniel (Kimberly); and daughter, D. Susanne (Richard) Anderson; seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at G H Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227, Visitation is prior to the service 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A private grave side service at the cemetery will follow and will only be open to the immediate family.

Obituary Preview: Terry Gene Moore, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 6, 2024, at the age of 75. He was born on October 6, 1948, in Indianapolis, IN, and he resided there throughout his life.

Terry had a passion for fishing, especially in Florida, where he loved to spend time with his boys. He also had the honor of serving in the Navy for four years, a time that he always cherished.

In 1999, Terry married Regina Moore, and they shared 25 wonderful years together. Terry was a dedicated family man, and his children, Richie, Sherri, Jason, Justin, and Lorena, held a special place in his heart. He was also a proud grandparent and great-grandparent.

Terry will be remembered for his selflessness and kindness. He always prioritized the needs of others and brought joy and comfort to those around him. His favorite saying, "Watch backing out of the driveway," serves as a reminder of his caring nature.

Terry Gene Moore leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in peace.

Prior to Lilly, she was Secretary for Church Relations for University of Indianapolis and Corporation Secretary for the Indianapolis Alliance for Jobs. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook, bake and entertain, whether it be a holiday celebration or pool gathering. Marilyn was always up for planning an upcoming event including family and high school reunions. She was a long time member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where she often volunteered and cooked for activities and events.
She leaves behind daughters, Vicky (Carmen) Hurley, and Lisa Fleming; son, David Ellis; granddaughters, Jade Hurley (Campbell) Robbins, Jordan (Andrew) Bass; grandsons, Mitch Fleming, and Tyler Fleming; and seven great grandchildren, Alexis, Adelyn, Nolan, Thomas, Clare, Vale and Veran and her sister, Virginia "Ginny" Raker. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William "Bill" Hohn.

After more than 40 years in the optical industry and 30 years part-time with a local subscription newspaper, she retired in 2015. She worked hard to raise her kids all by herself.
Tana was a member of the Social of Greenwood where she enjoyed playing cards and other games with the new friends that she made there. She treasured those friendships.
Tana was an avid reader, often in the middle of three or four books at any given time. Her favorite author of late was James Patterson and he kept her busy with his many works. She also enjoyed the many crime shows on TV. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Her friends and family always looked forward to her special peanut butter fudge that she made every Christmas.
Tana is survived by her daughter Traci (Mark) Pape; grandchildren Shelia Taylor, Tana J. McKinney, Jeannette Peyton, Craig McKinney, Alexander McKinney and Trinity Cline-Smith; as well as 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Leonard L. “Larry” Heldman; her son Leonard C. “Mac” McKinney; and her daughter Barbara Springman. “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5141 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis. Obituary Preview: Narcisso “Cheeso” Gabriele Povinelli, 89, departed from this world on March 28th, 2024. He was born in Indianapolis on March 8, 1935, to Vito and Anna Maria “Mary” Povinelli, both Austrian-born Italians.
Narcisso graduated from Tech High School in 1953. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Julia Ann (Duarte) Povinelli in 1955, and they had three children. From 1955 to 1957, he proudly served in the United States Army.
Narcisso was a long-time member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Indianapolis and served as a board member. He also served on the planning board of Roncalli High School and volunteered at Eagle Creek Park. He was employed at Eli Lilly for 43 years, retiring in 1996.
Like so many immigrant families, Narcisso carried on the family tradition of knife sharpening for most of his life.
Narcisso will be remembered for his kind and generous heart, his warm smile and charming sense of humor, his skill in making others feel valued, his restaurant waitlist alias of “Joe”, leading hikes for the Indianapolis Hiking Club in the Rockies, Smokies, and throughout the United States, giving out chocolate to his fellow hikers at the end of his hikes, his love of nature and the outdoors, planning fantastic family vacations, his western-style shirts, and his wooden hiking staff.
Those preceding Narcisso in death include his wife Julia, his parents, his brothers Enselmo “Sam” & Pete and infant-sister Narcissa Povinelli.
He is survived by his brother Frank Bernard Povinelli, sisters-in-law Patricia “Pat” Jensen and Josephine “Toni” Buchanan, daughters Debi (Perry) Murphree and Ruth Copeland, and son Anthony Joseph (Bonnie O’Connor) Povinelli, all of Indianapolis, eight grandchildren, three “bonus” grandchildren, and a growing number of great grandchildren.

It was through Kevin that Chris found the love of his life, Lea Michelle. Their connection was immediate, and they became inseparable at the tender ages of 14 and 15.
Chris, fondly known as the Knockout King in his youth, embraced fatherhood at an early age and later reveled in the joys of grandfatherhood. He was lovingly referred to as Papio, Big, Jimmy, and the Hamburger Man. Chris was a culinary enthusiast, mastering the art of grilling and delighting in the flavors of a perfectly cooked ribeye. His favorite holidays were Christmas and the 4th of July, where he embodied the spirit of Captain America.
In addition to his culinary talents, Chris enjoyed indulging in his passions for westerns, gambling, tinkering in the garage, and gazing at the stars. He possessed a quick wit and an endless repertoire of jokes, each one delivered with impeccable timing. His love for antiques and woodworking was evident in his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Chris approached life with unwavering courage and an unconquerable spirit, never backing down from any challenge. Despite his own trials, he remained steadfast in his dedication to bringing joy to others, never failing to extend warm wishes to his dearest childhood friend, James R. Long, on his birthday.
Chris leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Lea Michelle Blake, along with his children, Christian Scott Blake II (DeAnn), Stephanie (Matt) Jett, Sarah (Brant) Jackson, and Billie Jo Bowling. He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren—Matthew, Leevi, Luke, Malea, Hunter, and Harper—as well as a great-grandchild. Also leaving behind his brothers/best friends Tim, Danny, and Kevin, his sisters, Betty Ann, Lorraine, and Jeana and countless nieces and nephews.

Jan leaves behind to treasure her memory her son, Sean Carter; daughter, Jennifer (Richard) Speer; sisters, Sharon Holland and Sandy Cline; grandsons, Ryan Speer and Riley Speer; a niece and 3 nephews; 4 great-nephews and 3 great-nieces; as well as numerous dearly beloved friends.
