Born in Altoona on March 24, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Harold Oldham, Sr. and Helen Alley Oldham.
She attended Altoona Schools and was of the Methodist faith.
On August 27, 1982 she married James Merat, Sr. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren.
Those surviving are her companion; Russell Manners; her son, James (Nicole) Merat; her step daughter, Tina Kennedy; her brother, Bill Oldham; her sisters, Emma Burger and Gladys George; her grandchildren, Damian, Ethan, Kyle, Isaiah, Destiny, Cheyanne, Danielle and Travis; as well as 4 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers Irvin and Harold Oldham, Jr.; as well as her step daughter, Denise Ferguson.
Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. has been entrusted with final arrangements for Mrs. Merat.

Laurie A. Laursen - August 21, 1972 - April 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: Laurie A. Laursen, 49, of Brookville, died the afternoon of Friday, April 22, 2022 at her home following an extended battle with Neuro Lyme Disease in the arms of her beloved husband.
Born on August 28, 1972 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lorraine Montanaro Neilson.
She was a graduate of William Floyd High School and SUNY Farmingdale with a degree in Animal Science.
On September 13, 2002 she married John L. Laursen. He survives.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith and was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War (1861-1865) and founding member of North American Shiloh Shepherd Alliance. She was also share owner of the Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup winning racehorse “Authentic”, who was named 2020 Eclipse Horse of the Year.
Those surviving in addition to her husband, John, are her son, John M. Laursen and wife Casey, her daughter, Andrea Knapp and husband Andrew; her sister, Kathleen Mendus, as well as her grandchildren, Braelyn Knapp and Nora Laursen.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Dawn Neilson.
Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mrs. Laursen.
The family will announce a memorial service in the near future.

Dan was very mechanical and could fix anything with a motor.
He is survived by his brothers, Larry (Melissa) Storer and David (Patty) Storer; as well as his nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Storer Wilder.

Born on August 21, 1939 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Violet Rote Bulson.
On October 22, 1957 in Buffalo, NY she married George W. Reed, Jr. He survives.
Prior to her retirement in 2005 she had been employed in the past by both Brookville Glove Factory and Jefferson Manor.
She was a former member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church and currently attended Brookville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
Her favored pastimes included walking, baking, listening to the “Oldies” and gospel music. She was an animal lover.
Those surviving her in addition to her husband, George, are her sons, Roy Reed, John (Susan) Reed and Steven (Emma) Reed; her daughter, Debbie (Ken) Ganoe; her sister, Anna Caldwell; her grandchildren, Amber Flinchbaugh, Ashley Ganoe, Amanda Reed, Jason Reed, Brittnee Beer, Kelsy McAllister, JonEric Reed and Lindsay (Reed) Whisler; as well as her great grandchildren, BrantLee, Westlee, Ryan and Landry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Bulson, Jr. and her grandson, Cody M. Reed.
Her family will receive friends at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8PM and on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 10-11AM.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11AM with Pastor Brian Smeal, of the Brookville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Vandervort  Cemetery, Clover Twp., Jefferson County.
A luncheon will be held at the Brookville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 59 Stone Road, Brookville, PA. 1 ½ miles past Sheetz on 36 North after the funeral service.

Zane F. Zents - September 11, 1962 - April 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: Zane F. Zents, 59, of Brookville, died Thursday evening, April 14, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. He now rests pain free following a 2 year battle with Cancer.
Born in Brookville on September 11, 1962, he was the son of the late Francis and Elise Dinger Zents.
He was a 1980 graduate of Jeff Tech where he studied Graphic Arts.
He proudly served his country in both the US Army and the PA.National Guard. He and his brother, Tracy were fortunate enough to serve in the same unit at the same time.
On May 2, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville, he married the former Jacqueline Tomski. She survives.
He was a member of the Scotland Ave. Church of God in Punxsutawney and is a former member of the Brookville Fire Company. Zane, along with his brothers and father were the first family locally to all receive the 4th Degree Honor from the Knights of Columbus.
Zane worked for the many years with his father at Zents Brothers Construction, at Lowes for a time and retired from PennDOT.
In his free time he enjoyed riding motorcycle, traveling, golfing, and creating metal works and stained glass art.
His family and friends will remember him as a fun loving jokester and true friend to everyone.
Those surviving in addition to his wife, Jackie, are his brothers, Allen(Cindy) Zents, Felix(Susan) Zents, Victor(Denise) Zents and Tracy(Valerie) Zents; his children, Corey Zents, Misty(Liz) Ransom, Tia(Christopher) Hetrick; his grandchildren, Scarlet, Zina, Alexis, Eric, Brooklyn and Beau; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Born May 17, 1943 in Perry Township, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Paul and Dorothea Hollenbaugh Smith.
He was a graduate of Keystone High School and proudly served his county in the US Army.
On July 23, 1966 at Strattanville Methodist Church he married the former Jacqueline Hinderliter. She survives.
He was of Methodist faith and a member of the Clarion American Legion.
His working career was spent as a truck driver and he was theowner of EZ Trucking Company.
Studying historical events, playing UNO, spending time at Wolf’s Camping Resort and time spent with family was his favorite way of passing his time.
Those surviving in addition to his wife, Jackie, are his sons, Leonard “Zeke” (Trudy) Smith, Jr. and Paul (Bobbi) Smith; his son in law, Paul Shovestull; his brother in law, Robert H. Bish; his grandchildren, Katelyn (Adam) Kaber, Ethan Moon, Kyle Smith, Becca “Boo” (Reese) Stiller, Kamryn Smith, Wyatt Smith, Karlee Smith and Kade Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, in laws, cousins and friends; and his fur babies, Maxwell and Missy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shari Shovestull on January 16, 2022; and his sister, Elizabeth “Jane” Bish.

Richard L. Dinger - September 21, 1947 - April 09, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard “Dick” Dinger, 74, of Sigel, died Saturday afternoon, April 9, 2022 at home with his family at his side.
Born September 21, 1947 in Grove City, he was the son of the late Herman and Ethel Hankinson Dinger.
He was a graduate of Brookville High School, attended Brookville Assembly of God and was a member of the VFW.
Mr. Dinger proudly served his country in the US Army obtaining the rank of E6, prior to being honorably discharged in 1970.
On August 27, 1971 at the Assembly of God in Brookville he married the former Sherry Fulton. She survives.
Retiring in 2015 he spent much of his working career driving truck. He drove over the road for many years and in the past he worked for Molnar Trucking, as well as driving tanker for TA Truckstop.
In his leisure time he loved boating and fishing from his Pontoon boat with family and friends. Those surviving in addition to his wife, Sherry, are his daughters, Monica (Larry) McAninch and Jaclyn Gordan; his brothers, William (Sara) Dinger and Herman Dinger, Jr., his sister, Beverly Dinger; his grandchildren, Devin McAninch, Adam McAninch and Stephanie Gordan; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All of whom he ADORED!
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Dinger; and his sisters, Kathryn Smith, Lucille Hopper, Mabel Taylor and Betty McLaughlin.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10-11AM at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and cards, watching game shows, and being with her dog, Riley.
Mary worked for many years at Clarion Hotel in DuBois.  She retired in 2018.
Her survivors include her daughter, Christine Lewis; her sons Harry Shepler (his companion Karen Frantz) and Loney (Lisa) Shepler; her sister, Grace Yohe; and three stepchildren, Nevin Salada, Lewis Salada, and Christine Morrow; as well as her 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Shepler; her second husband, Lewis Salada; her daughter Debra Fyock; and two brothers, Harry Haag and Henry Haag.

John G. Dinger - December 25, 1933 - April 01, 2022

Obituary Preview: John G. Dinger, 88, of Brookville died Friday, April 1, 2022 at McKinley Health Center following a period of declining health.
Born December 25, 1933 in Brookville, he was the son of the late Pearl and Katherine Lowry Dinger.
He attended Brookville Area Schools and was a member of the United Methodist Church and attended Zion Methodist Church, Brookville.
On May 22, 1954 in Las Vegas, he married the former Janet Keyes. She survives.
He proudly severed his county with the US Air Force in the Korean War.
While in Las Vegas he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, this is where he obtained his private pilots license. After returning to PA he worked on the construction of I 80, owned a used car lot and gas station and as an Estate Auctioneer. He served the people of Jefferson County as Sheriff for 8 years. In 2000 he retired as an Inspector and Investigator for the State of Pennsylvania.
He enjoyed making toys and furniture from wood.
In addition to his wife, Janet, he is survived by his sons, John and Perry Dinger; his daughter in law, Linda Dinger; his sister, Kaye (Travis) Haywood; as well as nieces and nephews.
Those preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his brother Richard Dinger; his sisters, Nancy Jean Williams; and Jean Mills; his granddaughter, Kristin Nicole Dinger.
Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA, has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mr. Dinger.
There will be no visitation held as per his wishes.
A memorial service for later this year is being planned and the date will be announced.
A Graveside Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at Roseville Bethel Cemetery, Brookville, PA with the Rev.Dale Livermore, presiding.

Born February 17, 1957 in Peru, IN., he was the son of the late George E. Butzin, II and Mary Kline Butzin.
On September 29, 1992 in Orlando, FL., he married the former Vickie L. McNeal. She survives.
He began his career at Disney as a technician and projectionist,during his time with Disney he spent 4 months helping with the opening of EuroDisney in France. He then transitioned to Universal Studios before being hired by Glen-Gery Brick Plant in Summerville working as Systems Engineer to set up the plants automation. Currently he was employed by Kronospan as Systems Engineer for the Fiberboard Plant in Clarion.
His interests and hobbies were varied. They included being a steam train enthusiast and enjoyed excursions on steam engines. He and Vickie often hosted the excursions and he volunteered for the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society in Fort Wayne, IN. He was a certified scuba diver, enjoyed fishing in the oceanand loved music.
Those surviving in addition to his wife, Vickie, are his sister; Joni (Allen) Andreas; as well as his 3 nephews, Jason, Allen and Michael.
His parents preceded him in death.
Memorial donation maybe made to the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, P.O. Box 11017, Ft. Wayne, IN 46855.

Until her retirement in July of 2013 she worked as a caretaker for the elderly.
Her pastimes included working puzzles, doing word books and playing Solitaire.
Those surviving her are her stepsons, Larry (Kim) Fitzsimmons and Lonny Fitzsimmons; her daughter, Kandy (Ted) Ortz; her grandchildren, Allen (Michelle) Clinger and Kayla (Jason) Little; her great grandchildren, Bricen, Alex and Ethan Clinger, Morgan, Logan and Kaylee Little and Joey Carter; and her great great grandson, Mark Shankle.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Russel; her brothers, Raymond, Ralph and Kenneth Dolby; her sisters, Jacqueline Clinger, Wilda Huff and Florence VanCamp; and her great grandson, Brandon Vallies.

He retired in May of 2006 after being a lifelong self employed Dairy Farmer.
His hobbies include collecting toy farm equipment, John Deere tractors and a 1956 Ford Crown Car.
Those surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley; are his sons, Joe Holben Jr., Scott (Michelle) Holben, Toby Holben and Merle “Ben” Holben; his daughter, Lannette (Jeff) Welsh; his grandchildren, Teara and Nicholas Welsh and Trent, Brooke and Cort Holben; his brothers, George Holben, Dave (Mamie) Holben and Jeff (Rita) Wolfe; his sisters, Valerie (Jeff) Simon, Judy Bylerly and Jane Clark; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Arthur Hanford and his brothers, Charles, Donnie and Ronald Holben.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 from 2:30-4:30PM at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, Pa. A funeral service will follow at 4:30PM at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Ray Baker, officiating.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward Tottenham and Margaret Penman.
