Obituary Preview: David Nathan Conner, age 70, of White Hall, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Born April 10, 1954 at Fort Worth, TX, he was a son of the late Hubert Nathan Conner and Laura Holden Conner. He moved to White Hall as a child and graduated from White Hall High School in 1972.
For 23 years, he worked for the Georgia Pacific (formerly Hudson Pulp and Paper and Southern Bag) plant. David later worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal as a machine operator in the munitions division. He retired in 2017 after over ten years of service.
David loved machinery and any vehicle with a fast engine. He enjoyed riding and customizing his motorcycle, sprint racing, and stock car racing with his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Carol McConnell Conner, whom he married on June 16, 1979; his daughter, Cristen Conner Earnhart (Eric); and two brothers, Gary Lupton and Robert Lupton. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Dr. Jordan Ferris and
Brother Allen Elkins officiating. Arrangements are by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.

Fiodor Ivanovich Trufanov - December 13, 1937 - April 28, 2024

Obituary Preview: Fiodor Ivanovich Trufanov, age 86, died Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Pine Bluff.
A native of Russia, he was born December 13, 1937 in the Bryansk region. His parents were the late Ivan Fiodor Trufanov and Alexandra Tarusova Trufanov.
He lived in Moldova from the age of 30 until he moved to the United States in 2024. He was a retired cereal mill crane operator.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Sergei Trufanov; and six siblings, Alexandra, Nicolas, Anna, Ivan, Catherine, and Marina.
Survivors include his wife, Valentina Varfolomeeva Trufanov, who he married on February 16, 1962 in Tajikistan; a daughter, Larisa Kachowski, MD (Alexander); and two grandchildren, Alice and Tatiana Maria.
Mr. Trufanov’s service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, 6:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with a reception following. Burial will be in Moldova at a later date.

Pauline Floyd Bottom - September 03, 1934 - April 27, 2024

Obituary Preview: Pauline Floyd Bottom, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 27, 2024.
Born in Monroe, Louisiana on September 3, 1934, Pauline was a daughter of William Alvin Ford, Sr. and Lucy Mae Smith Ford. She was raised in Monroe and graduated from Ouachita Parish High School. In 1953, she married Griffin Theodore Floyd with whom she shared an adventurous life until his passing in 1978. Pauline was an accountant for her husband’s business, G. T. Floyd Ceramic Tile, and she was able to travel many parts of America as they grew the business. She was a pianist for their church and relished in hosting improvised musical gatherings at their home for their extended family. Griffin and Pauline moved their family to Pine Bluff in 1965 and joined First Baptist Church. Pauline was a talented seamstress who enjoyed making her daughters all the latest fashion designs as they were growing up. Pauline was known to oftentimes read a book a day, and she enjoyed traveling, gardening, and baking for her family and friends. Her faith in the Lord was strong. Her gentle presence was powerful, and her absence is profound.
Mrs. Bottom was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lucy Mae Ford; her first husband, Griffin Floyd; her second husband, Joe Bottom; her siblings, Katherine Ford, Carolyn Walters, and Billy Ford; and her son-in-law, Tuck McDonald.
Pauline is survived by her daughters, Jill Green (Mark) and Julie McDonald; three grandchildren, Cory McDonald (Samantha), Meredith McDonald Little (Stan), and Trevor Green; and a great-grandson, Griffin Little.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel in Pine Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Dalton Adger and Brother Ken Thornton officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Pamela Yvonne Baxter, 63, of Victorville CA, died Friday March 22, 2024, at her home. She was born July 28, 1960 in North Hollywood CA to Leslie Walter Baxter and Lillie Maye Scalph Baxter.
Pam was a well known regular attendee of Calvary Chapel in Victorville weekly services, Ladies Class, and special events. She loved visiting Disneyland, having gone there about a hundred times, sometimes with friends, and sometimes just for dinner (and a few rides) telling her brother "That way, you don't have to cook."
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her brother Donald Earl Baxter, her sister Barbara Ann Baxter Allen Guerry, good friend Clemencia Peña, and best friend Jimmy Muñoz.
She is also survived by at least one of her aunts Zelma Leone Baxter McDaniel and more than a dozen cousins and their families.
Private burial will be in Curl Cemetery under the direction of Fuller Hale-South Funeral Service.

Obituary Preview: Arnold Jefferies Pipkin, age 85, of Pine Bluff, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Born February 26, 1939 in the Banner community (Monroe County), Arkansas, he was the only child of Arnold William Pipkin and Ellen Esther Ruth Jefferies Pipkin. He graduated from Clarendon High School in 1957 and was a state shot-put champion.
Mr. Pipkin moved to Pine Bluff after high school and ran a route for Ideal Bread Company. In 1959, he went to work for International Paper Company as an extruder machine operator. He retired as foreman in 1995.
During his “retirement”, he and his wife owned several car washes and laundromats. He also built custom homes and enjoyed reading.
Survivors include his wife, Gerry Badovick Pipkin, whom he married in 1986; his children, Piper Pipkin Erwin, Burt Strahan, Teresa Farrell, and Lori Ferrell; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; an aunt, Iva Jean Rowland; along with a number of cousins and many loving friends.

Clay Cross, III - February 12, 1940 - March 14, 2024

Obituary Preview: Clay Rice Cross, III passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024. He was born February 12, 1940 at Pendleton, AR to Clay Rice Cross II and Nell Louise Heniken Cross.
He received a high school diploma from Dumas High School and attended The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Clay earned a degree in Farm Management from Arkansas A&M College. He retired from The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where he worked for 12 years as the Director of Central Receiving. He had a long list of hobbies, including deer hunting, competitive pistol shooting, building and repairing computers, filling bullet cartridges, reading, and general tinkering on anything needing fixing. He prided himself on being known as the man who could fix anything. While Clay would have never described himself as a good cook, he will forever be remembered for his legendary brisket, which was a fixture at every church potluck and even one wedding reception! He happily shared the recipe and the family will continue to give it to anyone who wants it – with same instructions: “Follow the recipe exactly as it written – you really do need that much soy sauce.” In retirement, he took up pie baking and made delicious apple pies and chess pies. He was a lifetime member of the Ashcraft Hunting Club and the NRA, and also a member of the Pine Bluff Gun Club where he served for years as the secretary. In college he was a member of the Phi Lambda Chi fraternity, and kept up with many of his
brothers over the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Flournoy Cross, and by the love of his life, Joy Lynn Pewitt Cross, who passed away only 38 days before him. It was clear that after being married 52 years, he was lost without her.
He is survived by his children: Clay Rice Cross, IV (Sandy) of Nashville, TN; Samantha Jane Cross of Little Rock; Harry Thomas Cross of Monroe, LA; and Lynn Cross Kilbourne (Nathan) of Conway; four granddaughters: Isabel and Camilla Cross, and Eleanor and Lydia Kilbourne. Along with his beloved family, he leaves behind countless friends from all of the circles and seasons of his life.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2024 at Lakeside United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas with Rev. Judy Rudd and Rev. Mike Walls officiating. Everyone is invited to a reception at the church immediately following the service. Honorary Pallbearers are Clay Cross IV, Harry Cross, Nathan Kilbourne, Dr. Paul Davis, Scott Long, Lester Pinkus, and Dale Teague.

Born October 4, 1937 at Wilmar, she was a daughter of the late Stanley E. Smith and Gertrude Morgan Smith. She moved with her family to Pine Bluff as a child and graduated from Pine Bluff High School.
Shirley was first and foremost a homemaker. She had worked at several businesses, including Hart’s Shoes, Derwood’s Dairy Bar, and as a salesclerk at Campbell-Bell.
While residing in Pine Bluff, she had been a member of both Watson Chapel and Hardin Baptist Churches. After moving to Northwest Arkansas, she became a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Goshen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Joe Thomas Pitts on March 8, 2016; and by a brother, Stanley E. Smith, Jr. Survivors include her sons, Mike Jordan (Carolyn) of Goshen and Larry Jordan (Cheryl) of Royal; two brothers, Derwood Smith of Pine Bluff and Bobby Smith of Rogers; two grandchildren, Sammi Jordan and Amanda Gillotti (Eric); and four great-grandchildren, Raylan Gillotti, Emma Gillotti, Wyatt Gillotti, and Rowan Gillotti
.

Obituary Preview: Joan Smith Mooney, age 94, of Fordyce, formerly of Pine Bluff and Sheridan, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024. She was a very loving and giving person who touched many lives.
Born December 14, 1929 at Collierville, TN, she was a daughter of the late Hunter Neeley Carruthers and Elizabeth Olene Hendrickson Carruthers. Joan graduated from Collierville High School. She also attended business college and later took theological studies.
She served as secretary to the Rector at Trinity Episcopal Church for over 14 years. A natural at keeping books, Joan worked for Dravo Steel Ship, Ed Thompson, and later for her family’s businesses.
Joan had been a member of both Trinity and Grace Episcopal Churches in Pine Bluff. While living in Sheridan she attended First United Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Jesse Paul “Cotton” Smith and Raymond Mooney. Also preceding her in death are two brothers, Stanley Carruthers and Neeley Carruthers; five sisters, Lillian Knox, Beth Lewis, Grace Robertson, Marion Mayberry, and Trudy Cowell; and her step-mother, Doris Carruthers.
Survivors include her son, Paul Smith (Susan) of Pine Bluff; her daughter, Linnie Grice (Randy) of Kingsland; a step-brother, James Clay; step-sister, Joan Clay; four grandchildren, Robb Grice, Randy Grice (Donna), Trey Smith, and Jennifer Smith Rice (Steven); eight great-grandchildren; a bonus daughter, Carol Ann Meaders (Rick); two bonus grandchildren, Matt Meaders and Beth Meaders Upton; along with three bonus great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Friday, March 15, 2024, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jesse Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends in the parish hall following the service. Arrangements are by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.

Obituary Preview: David Wayne Kenward, 47, of Lewisville, Arkansas entered into eternal rest on March 12, 2024.
He was born to Karen Lynn Lovell Woodward and Daniel Gerald Kenward on October 6, 1976. David was a Patrolman of the Lewisville Police Department in Lafayette County, Arkansas since 2020. His job was his passion, and enjoyed serving his community. He proudly wore badge number 208.
When he was off duty, he was a loving PopPop to his four grandchildren. In their eyes he hung the stars and the moon. He was also a very talented musician and spent his life singing and playing guitar. He loved to pick the guitar and sing with his older brother Turk and nephew, Daniel. Hunting and fishing were also things he enjoyed since childhood.
David is preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Tonya Marie Kenward, as well as both of his parents.
His memories will be forever treasured by the friends, family, and community who love him dearly. Mr. Kenward leaves behind his daughter, Kayleigh (Tyler) Latiolais; four grandchildren, Aubrey, Atreau, Augustus and Ashlyn Latiolais; stepson, Kenneth Reninger; his older brother, Danny Turk Kenward II; nephews, Daniel G. Kenward III (Amber), and Chase Brown; a niece, Brittany Kenward; great-nieces, Harmoni, Paisley and Neveah; along with a host of extended family and friends.
There will be a memorial service Monday, April 1, 2024, 4:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel. Visitation will follow the service.

Obituary Preview: Kenneth D. Johnson, age 91, of Pine Bluff, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
Born April 17, 1932 at Vick in Bradley County, AR, he was a son of the late Henry Doyle Johnson and Nolia Lee Johnson. He grew up in the Vick community and attended school there. He also served in the United States Army from 1952-1954.
Mr. Johnson was a master electrician and worked at many building sites, including the White Bluff Power Plant at Redfield. He was a member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Helen West Johnson in June, 2007; a brother, Derry Lee Johnson; and a sister, Nellie Dean Parnell.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley Johnson (Debralee) of Gilmer, TX and Mike Johnson (Crystal) of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Theresa Perrigen (Kevin) of Monticello and Deana Helms (Chris) of Pine Bluff; a brother, Dwight Johnson of Hindsville, AR; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mr. Johnson will begin Thursday, March 7, 2024, 9:30 a.m. at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Mike Powell officiating. Burial will be private by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.

Mrs. Trammell retired as a shipping clerk for General Dynamic in Camden.
In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by a brother, Ray Cantwell.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Wayne Howard, David Earl Howard (Sabrina), and Jerry Douglas Trammell, Jr. (Terra); her father, Charles Cantwell; a brother, Don Cantwell; a sister, Sue Frye; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 5, 2024, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Charles Cantwell officiating. Interment will be in Cypress Memorial Gardens.

Ernest Lee McKinley - February 28, 1942 - February 26, 2024

Obituary Preview: Ernest Lee McKinley, age 81, of Pine Bluff, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024.
Born February 28, 1942 at North Little Rock, he was a son of the late Logan McKinley and Othelia Carmack McKinley. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1960 and attended Arkansas A&M College (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello).Ernest also served in the Arkansas Army National Guard, retiring as a staff sergeant.
He worked as a draftsman for the US Army Corps of Engineers for several years and was involved in the construction of Locks and Dams #4 and 5 on the Arkansas River. Ernest also worked as a purchasing manager for Martin Machinery Company for several years. He worked as a “hand-man” for a number of years doing odd jobs for residents of Pine Bluff. He was a skilled craftsman and loved his work.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Brian Lee McKinley and brother, Glen McKinley.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Lockhart McKinley, whom he married in July of 1964; his children, Tonya McKinley Lausten (David) and Terry McKinley (Kelley Harris-McKinley; a granddaughter, Laura Lausten-Sanchez (Ryan); a brother, Allan McKinley (Rosie); and a sister, Carolyn Pollett (John).
There will be a visitation on Saturday, March 2, 2024, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel. The service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Allan McKinley officiating. Interment will be private in Graceland Cemetery.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda Baxter Gatlin (Tommy), Paula Baxter Rowland (Tony), and Brian Baxter (Jennifer): grandchildren, Jade Ragar Farnsworth (Zach), Holly Ragar, Brittany Baxter Mauck, Hunter Baxter, Summer Mauck Bassford, Sara Bassford, Lauren Jenkins, and Lindsey Jenkins; four great-grandchildren, Raegan Mauck, Cameryn Mauck, Ryder Farnsworth, and River Farnsworth; and two sisters, Jo Ann Socia and Helen Carrington.

She began working for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist, later retiring as an administrative assistant after 30 years of service.
Sharon was a very energetic person with many talents. She loved working in the yard and planting flowers. She was a great cook and loved baking cakes and decorating them with her delicious homemade icing. She was a talented seamstress and had even designed and made wedding dresses.
Sharon passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the age of 66 after an eight-year struggle with Dementia. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Scotty Wells.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Misho, whom she married on May 29, 1976, in Pine Bluff. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Jason Misho of Hensley; her daughter, Lisa Sachs and husband, Josh, of Columbia, MO; two brothers, David Wells and Ricky Wells and wife, Nellia; and two grandchildren who she adored, Eben Midkiff and Chloe Midkiff.

She was an avid sports and music fan. She placed 2nd in the Texas State Championship Domino’s Tournament. She loved Diet Dr. Pepper and a good T-Bone steak. She loved playing games and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her loving husband of almost 14 years as of February 20, 2010, Jonathan Floyd Hugen of Pine Bluff; 2 daughters, Zena Chitteboyina of Southlake, Tx and Tasha Nichols, and 2 sons, Jeffery and Justin Nichols; brother, Jerry (Rose) Rowland Camden; loved niece, Shawna Horn; best friend Yvonne Geisen and several grandchildren.

She received a high school degree from McGehee High School and attended Arkansas A&M College, and received her BS in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University. She worked as a Civil Engineer at the Pine Bluff
Arsenal for over 20 years.
Joy was a trailblazer and leaves behind an incredible legacy. She was the third female to graduate from Mississippi State University as a civil engineer and the first female engineer hired at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. In a field dominated by her male counterparts, she stood tall, going toe-to-toe with them. Her confidence, self-esteem, tenacity, and determination allowed her to not only excel in her career but also touch the lives of many individuals. Upon retiring from the Arsenal she was awarded the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. Joy led an authentic life. She remained true to herself, standing up for what she believed in and challenging a patriarchal society. Her impact on those around her extends far beyond her professional achievements and leaves a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Everyone who knew Joy knew that she lived up to her name – she was a joy to be around and knew how to have a good time. She was a member of Leadership Pine Bluff and Toastmasters. She brought
joy to many lives through her participation in the Walk to Emmaus community, the United Methodist Women and United Women in Faith, and the Pine Bluff Quilt Guild. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church where she was known for her warm greetings and words of welcome.
In retirement, she joined her husband in some of his hobbies including deer hunting and competitive pistol shooting. She was a member of the Ashcraft Hunting Club and the Pine Bluff Gun Club.
She is proceeded in death by her parents and her two sisters, JoEtta Brennan and Judy Westberry. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Clay Rice Cross, III; son, Harry Cross; daughter, Lynn Kilbourne (Nathan); bonus daughter, Samantha Cross and four granddaughters: Eleanor and Lydia Kilbourne, and Isabel and Camilla Cross. Along with her beloved family, she leaves behind countless friends from all of the circles and seasons of her life.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024 at Lakeside United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas with the Rev. Judy Rudd officiating. Everyone is invited to a reception at the church immediately following the service. Arrangements are by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services. Honorary Pallbearers are Harry Cross, Nathan Kilbourne, Dr. Paul Davis, Scott Long, Lester Pinkus, Eddie Robinson, Dale Teague, and Mike Walls.

She was a graduate of DeWitt High School and after her marriage to Alvin Earl VanLandingham, she became his right arm in running the family farm. She was always working and stayed active all her life, whether it was working as a meter reader on three routes, cleaning the bank or her church (Humphrey Baptist Church where she was a long-time member), working at the Post Office in Humphrey, or working in her flower beds at home. She loved quilting and canning foods she grew in their garden. Louise also had served as church treasurer and had even prepared the church bulletins for Sunday service.
Louise passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, Opal, Clotene, Margret, Oscar, Charlie, Horace, Wesley, and Roscoe.
Survivors include her son, Burton VanLandingham; her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Herald Kaffka; and her grandchildren, Justin, Christopher, and Alexandra Kaffka; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held at 12:30 P.M. Monday, February 5, 2024, at Humphrey Baptist Church, followed by funeral services at 1:30 P.M. with Bro. Bobby McPherson officiating. Burial will follow at Flynn Cemetery under the direction of Fuller Hale-South Funeral Service.

She was a 4H leader for 20 years, and enjoyed church, crocheting, reading, fishing, spending time with her family, and watching football - especially her beloved Kansas City Chiefs and LSU Tigers.
She was the widow of Hilton Wallace who died November 1, 1993. Also predeceasing her are a son, Charles “Skip” Wallace; two brothers, Leon Weeks and Charles Weeks; and two sisters, Marie Cash and Sue Spakes.
Survivors include three sons, William Wallace (Lynnette), Claude Wallace (Theresa), and Victor Wallace (Kay); a daughter, Margaret Magness (Gary); a daughter-in-law, Amy Wallace; two sisters, Virginia Mitchell and Elmyra Phillips; 11 grandchildren, Camille Harrison, Chip Wallace, Kimberly Hill, Michelle Ciaccio, Jennifer Pharr, Brandi Brock, Josh Wallace, Emily Kooyenga, Sarah Lloyd, Baylee Magness, and Harlee Pickett; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Steve served in the United States Army for three years during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart.
From 1971 until 1981, he worked as a machinist for Crane Cams in Hollywood, FL. He moved back to Pine Bluff in 1980 and was an HVAC Technician for Ogden’s Heating and Air. He and his son started Precision Alarm Company in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Norrell Stephens, whom he married on August 6, 2006 at Pine Bluff; one son, Michael “Mikey” Stephens (Lea); a sister, Carolyn Lawrence; three grandchildren, Micha K. Stephens, Dakota Stephens, and Mason Stephens; and two step-children, Jamie Yarberry and Rhonda Yarberry.

Born January 29, 1942 at Stuttgart, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Franklin Grumbles and Lucille Henderson Grumbles. Sherry graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1960.
She was a graduate of the Arkansas Baptist School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1963. From July of 1963 until her retirement in December of 2003, she worked at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She loved being a nurse and started her work in the medical field as a nurse’s aide at the old Davis Hospital.
She grew and spent much of her adulthood at Immanuel Baptist Church. Later, she joined Watson Chapel Baptist Church. She sang in the choir from her youth on. According to Sherry, “I gave my heart to Jesus at the age of 12 and loved him more and more each day”.
Sherry married Charles E. Hart on June 29, 1963 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Charles preceded her in death on November 18, 2017. She was also predeceased by a sister, Martha Grumbles Thomas; and her son-in-law, Tommy Lee Jones.
Survivors include her children, Frankie Hart (Susan) and Audra “Sissy” Hart Jones; a sister, Kay Grumbles Faver; three grandsons who lovingly referred to her as “Haw Maw”, Matthew Hart, Jeremy Lackey (Courtney), and Tanner Jones (Michele); three great-grandchildren, Landon Lackey, Chase Lackey, and Lexie Kate Lackey; along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin Saturday, January 20, 2024, 9:30 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel. The service will follow at 10:30 with Brother Todd Howard officiating. A private burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery beside Charles.
