Obituary Preview: Robert Joseph Faber, 79, a resident of the Vernonia community, died Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at his home. ROBERT JOSEPH FABER was born November 1, 1942 in Ketchikan, Alaska, the son of the late Edward Faber and Anne (Taube) Faber. He was raised and received his early education in Centralia,
Washington before joining the United States Navy. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam era, having served one enlistment in the United States Navy,
until he received his honorable discharge at the rank of Seaman First Class. Gil served on the U.S.S.
Hornet, now a museum ship located in Alameda, California.
He was united in marriage to Gina G. Thornock on July 22, 1978, in Scaponia Park in Vernonia.
Following their marriage, they made their home in the Vernonia community. Gil had worked for West Oregon Electric in Vernonia as a journeyman lineman, from 1976 to
2004, when he retired. Among his special interests, he appreciated his many friendships with his neighbors and the Vernonia community. He was an avid reader and enjoyed US and world history. Gil enjoyed helping with the October cranberry harvests in Long Beach, and of course cutting wood and having a beer with his
pals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anne Faber. Survivors include his wife, Gina Faber, of Long Beach, Washington; his son, John Faber, of Idaho; his daughter and son-in-law, Aubrey and Jason Sinclair, of Tracy, California and his brother and sister-in-
law, Mike and Nancy Faber, of Hood Canal, Washington.

LOIS LOUISE BROWN was born August 24, 1928, in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of the late Lloyd Brown and Opal (Horn) Brown. She was raised in Portland and attended Jefferson High School until the age of 16 when she began working for the Bell Telephone Company. Lois worked many jobs throughout her life including bartending and house-cleaning.
She was united in marriage to William D. “Bill” Owen on August 24, 1951, in Vancouver, Washington. Following their marriage, they made their home on the Owen Family Ranch in Vernonia, where she had resided since. They later divorced.
Among her special interests, was tending to the animals on the farm, including cows, horses, chickens, and dogs. She also enjoyed poetry and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Opal Brown and by her two sisters, Geraldine Loyland and Barbara Berberick and her three sons, Levi Owen; Zackri “Zack’ Owen and Zeb Owen.
Survivors include her seven children and their spouses, Mikele Owen, of Mt. Home, Idaho; Tracy and Linda Owen, of Culver, Oregon; Cole and Lynn Owen, of Newport, Oregon; Daryl Owen, of Vernonia, Oregon; Jefri Owen of Council, Idaho; Bennette and Jeffrey Watts, of Vernonia, Oregon and Ezra Owen, of Vernonia, Oregon and her brother Ronald Brown, of Milwaukie, Oregon.
Also surviving are many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 1:00 P. M. at the Family Home, 951 West G. Street in Vernonia. Private Family Interment will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Vernonia Memorial Cemetery, 2080 Bridge Street in Vernonia.
MARGARETHE BARBARA BOBOWSKI was born April 24, 1939, in Bytom, Poland. After graduating high school Margarethe proceeded education in the nursing field in the Katowice community and later changed career path as a secretary.
Margarethe resided in Germany with her daughter and family for twenty-two years, until 2003, she then moved to the USA to join her daughter and has since resided in Oregon. Among her special interests, Margarethe enjoyed gardening and cooking, especially German and Polish foods, she enjoyed beach trips with her family and the tulip festival. Margarethe was blessed with one great grandson- Benjamin whom she absolutely adored her “Herzele und Sonnen Schein."
Margarethe was a loving, gracious, and an amazing mom, grandma, and great grandma to us all.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandson.

60621 Flack Road in Vernonia.
PAMELLA JEAN CASWELL was born December 19, 1948, in Hillsboro, Oregon, the daughter of the late Wallace Benjamin Bloom and Ruby Lee (Prouty) Bloom. She was raised and received her early education in Downey, California, until the age of thirteen when she moved with her family to Oregon, settling in the Hillsboro community. Pamella completed her schooling in Hillsboro, having been a graduate of Hillsboro Union High School Class of 1966.
She had worked as an assembler for Tektronix, Inc. in Beaverton for ten years.
Among her special interests, Pamella enjoyed flowers, ceramics and visiting the Oregon coast. She also had a special love for her family life, having enjoyed family gatherings and holidays together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Ruby Bloom, brother Keith Bloom, her daughter, Tina McClure in 2016, and great grandson Brody McVey.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James and Kelly McVey, of Cornelius, Oregon and her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Michael Marsh of Aurora, Oregon.
Also surviving are her eight grandchildren and their spouses, Tia Leutwyler and her fiancee’, Brandon Lokken, of Vernonia, Oregon; Kodiack Stone, of Vernonia, Oregon; Josephine Minche, of Newberg, Oregon; Sierra McVey, of Carlton, Oregon; Tesla McVey, of Cornelius, Oregon; Tylor and Samantha McVey, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Jacob and Courtney McVey, of Gaston, Oregon and Brian McVey, of McMinnville, Oregon; several great-grandchildren including Mia Potter; Jagger Lokken; Slater Stone; Maddy McVey; Ruby McVey; twins: Ezekiel McVey and Jamison McVey; A.J. Margaret S. Marshall - June 24, 1953 - June 11, 2022

Obituary Preview: Margaret S. "Muffy" Marshall, 68, a resident of the Vernonia community, died Saturday, June 11, 2022 at her home.
MARGARET STEWART MARSHALL, best known as Muffy, was born June 24, 1953 in Glendale, California, the daughter of the late Rev. John R. Stewart and Phyllis (Almquist) Stewart. She was raised in the Presbyterian Church growing up in Salem, Oregon and graduated from South Salem High School Class of 1971. She subsequently attended Oregon Health Sciences Universitry in Portland, receiving Batchelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as an RN in the nursing home industry, director of Columbia County Home Care Agency and for Kaiser Permanente before retiring. In later years Muffy operated a local and online shoe business that bears her name.
She was united in marriage to Allen B. Marshall on March 3, 1990 in Portland, Oregon. They celebrated their 32nd Wedding Anniversary this past March. Following their marriage they made their home in the communities of Portland and Buxton, until 2004, when they moved to the Vernonia community, where they have resided since.
Muffy was a member on the Lions Club of Vernonia and Master Gardener.
Among her special interests, she enjoyed her family, gardening, reading, volunteering at the Oregon Country Fair, and hunting, fishing and camping while exploring the Pacific NW. Watching birds and wildlife from her window was a special treat.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. John R. and Phyllis Stewart of Salem, OR.
Survivors include her husband, Allen B. Marshall, of the family home in Vernonia, Oregon; her three sons and daughters-in-law, Burton S. Marshall (Grace), of Vernonia, Oregon John J. Marshall (Esther), of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Richard A. Marshall of Bend, Oregon; also her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth S. Miller (Harvey), of Albany, Oregon and Anne S. Miller (Kenneth), of Portland, Oregon. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Lions Club of Vernonia in her memory.

Wesley Phillip Rockwell - November 10, 1939 - June 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Wesley Phillip "Phil" Rockwell, 82, a resident of the Vernonia community, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at his residence.
WESLEY PHILLIP ROCKWELL was born November 10, 1939 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of the late Wesley Amos Rockwell and Eliza (Milligan) Rockwell. He was raised and received his education in Albuquerque, New Mexico, having been a graduate of Albuquerque High School Class of ‘57.
He was united in marriage to Sandra E. Walker on November 25, 1961 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Following their marriage they resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico where they began their family with a son and daughter, Brad Rockwell and Robin Rockwell Harrison.
Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, on March 6, 2014, after celebrating over 53 years of marriage together. In June of 2019, Phil moved to Vernonia, Oregon to reside with his daughter and son-in-law and be closer to his son.
He was a Sheet Metal worker for the Sheet Metal Workers’ Union Local #49 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Phil worked for the Union for many years, and stayed active after he retired.
Among his special interests, Phil was an avid bowler, having bowled in several leagues, as well as the National Bowling Tournaments. He had been recognized for bowling two perfect 300 games.
Phil was known to a lot of people for so many reasons, always available to lend a hand, hook up air conditioners, fix plumbing, and he loved remodeling projects. He was loved and respected by all that knew him; and known for his dry sense of humor, and hugs that were one of a kind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Eliza Rockwell; by his brother Gene, and six sisters; Florence Watson, Fay Scutt, Vera Donald, Fern Glico, Wilma Dillow, and his twin, Phyllis Stephens; also by his in-laws Marshall and Virginia (Freberg) Walker, Karen and Don Wilder, Lance and Sandra Walker, and Brian Walker.
Survivors include his son and partner, Brad Rockwell and Carlie Beck, of LaGrande, Oregon; his daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Jeff Harrison, of Vernonia, Oregon; four grandchildren and their partners, Heather Rockwell and James Hutchinson, of Dallas, Georgia; Jenna Rockwell, of Vernonia, Oregon; Jordon Rockwell and Teresa Sutton, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Jade-Rylie Parks and her fiancée, Seamus Stegenga, of Lyons, Illinois; his two great-grandchildren, Presley Rockwell and Madix Montano.
Also surviving are his daughter-in-law, Melissa Lambert, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; niece and her husband, Karri and Gilbert Olguin of Los Alamos, New Mexico; Sister-in-Law, Julie Walker (Brian) of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bruce Larsen - June 09, 1935 - May 27, 2022

Obituary Preview: Bruce Larsen, 86, longtime resident of the Vernonia/Birkenfeld community, late of Woodland, Washington, died Friday, May 27, 2022, at his residence.
BRUCE EARL LARSEN was born June 9, 1935, at his Aunt Mary’s home, the son of the late Thorvel and Violet (Theilman) Larsen. He returned home to Mist, Oregon that week. At the age of 9, he moved in with his sister Norma, and husband Boone (ET) Johnston at Birkenfeld, where he received his education. He helped on the farm, doing chores like any child. He quit school after half of his freshman year, continuing on the farm. At 16 ½ he started to work on a tugboat, the Fleetwood, towing log rafts from the log dumps to the large sawmill along the Columbia River. As soon as he turned 18, he got his chauffeur’s license, (Class A.) He hauled logs, lumber, and drove the chip truck from the Mist mill to Longview.
He was united in marriage to Norma M. Norman on June 24, 1955, in Seaside, Oregon. They would have celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary this month. Following their marriage they resided in the communities of Birkenfeld, Taft, Medford and Warren, Oregon; Flagstaff, Arizona; Los Angeles and Sacramento, California, and back to Warren, Oregon in 2004. In 2006 they became fulltime RV’ers hiking the desert, Death Valley, or just hills, wherever they parked. Then it was time to find a home they could stay at in the summer, then head south in the winter. In 2012, they bought a home in Woodland, Washington, where they have resided since.
Bruce owned and operated his own log truck when in Birkenfeld, and Taft (now Lincoln City.) Later he bought a share in a plywood mill in White City, Oregon, before driving a freight truck for ONC, McLean, and finally Roadway, retiring at the age of 65.
When the kids were in 4-H he helped with the horses, and the club. The boys discovered motorcycles, he did a cross country race from Burns to Bend and finished, their daughter found boys, and a job. While exercising on a Nordictrack and watching the Boston Marathon, he thought that if had to be more fun than it looked, so he started running. Over the years he ran in and finished 19 marathons.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Thorvel Larsen and Violet Stuve, two stepbrothers, Paul and Walter Larsen, brother Philip Larsen, sisters Norma Johnston, and Eunice Condit. His half-sister Karen Stuve Bender, stepbrothers Russell Stuve, Lloyd Stuve, and stepsister Delores Stuve Salmi.
Surviving is his wife, Norma Larsen, of Woodland, Washington and his four children, Brien and Maureen Larsen, of Pahrump, Nevada; Julie Larsen, of Flagstaff, Arizona; Bart Larsen and Kathy Banford, of Couer d’Alene, Idaho and Brett Larsen, of Apache Junction, Arizona.
Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Morgen Larsen, Brittney Miller, Jessie Lupton, Cole Lupton and Dana Larsen, his five great-grandchildren, Zinnia Larsen, Buddy and Oliver Miller and Cody and Faith Larsen and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the charity of their choice
in his memory.

KATHERINE DIANNE GOODMAN was born November 2, 2000, in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Jeffrey P. “Jeff” Goodman and Karin Elizabeth (Mainwaring) Goodman. She was raised in the Vernonia community, receiving her early education at Banks Christian Academy, later attending Vernonia school district where she graduated with honors in 2019. Throughout middle and high school, Katie enjoyed many activities. She participated in local 4H Club, wrestling, equestrian team, track, and cross country. Katie went on to study at Portland Community College and she earned several nursing assistant certifications.
Katie worked for many years in long term care before finally landing her dream job as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for Kaiser Westside Medial Center in Hillsboro, where she worked for just over a year in the emergency department.
Katie has been a member of Grace Family Fellowship in Vernonia since she was born. She also regularly attended services at East River Fellowship in Hillsboro as a young adult. Katie knew and loved the Lord her whole life.
She enjoys horseback riding, hunting, fishing, camping, wheeling, spending time with her family and raising hell with her friends.
Katie joins in heaven her daughter, Tayzia Elizabeth-Fay Johnson, her Grandmother Shirley Ann (Jackson) Goodman, and her Grandparents Kenneth Leslie Mainwaring, and Regina Diane (Deibele) Mainwaring.
She is a daughter to her parents, Jeff and Karin, a sister to her brother Jeffrey Paul Goodman Jr., her sister Jessika Marie Reece and her brother Jayden William Reece.
She is granddaughter of Paul Clinton “Skip” Goodman. A niece to her aunts and uncles, Jared William Goodman, Krista (Mainwaring) & John Puttman, John Mainwaring, James “Jim” & Wendy Mainwaring, and Suzie Mainwaring.
She is a cousin to Kayla (Mainwaring) & Leonard Nelson, Abigail (Puttman) & Erick Garcia, Elizabeth (Puttman) & Nick Alvey, John Puttman, Daniel Mainwaring and Kenneth Mainwaring.
She is a fur mom to Bella Rae, her German Shepherd, and Sparkles, her horse.

Obituary Preview: Marie J. Bellingham, 98, a lifelong native of Birkenfeld, Oregon, died Saturday evening, April 16, 2022 at the Walker House Adult Foster Care Home in Longview, Washington.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 14, 2022, at 12:00 P.M. at the Birkenfeld Community Church, 11249 Highway 202 in Birkenfeld, with Dan Cano officiating.
MARIE JULIA BELLINGHAM was born August 26, 1923, in Birkenfeld, Oregon, the daughter of the late Leonard Richardson and Elsa (Birkenfeld) Richardson. She was raised and received her education in the Birkenfeld community, having been a graduate of Winema High School Class of 1940.
She was united in marriage to Arthur Guy “Art” Bellingham on March 5, 1941 in Vancouver, Washington. Following their marriage they resided in the communities of Hood River, Albany, and Scio. When Arthur returned from WWII, they returned to the Birkenfeld community in 1947, where she had resided since.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Art, on December 15, 2015, after celebrating over seventy-five years of marriage together.
They co-owned and operated the Birkenfeld Country Store and Post Office from 1947 to 1964. Marie later served as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Vernonia, from 1966 to 1985, when she retired.
Marie and Arthur were active members of the Birkenfeld Community Church, as well as members of Flying Farmers traveling to Australia and New Zealand.
Among her special interests, she enjoyed gardening, fishing, clamming, league bowling in Vernonia and traveling. They wintered in Yuma, Arizona and Palm Springs, California for thirteen years. Marie and Art also enjoyed cruising, including the last Panama Canal Cruise in 1999, before the United States relinquished ownership of the Panama Canal to the Central American country of Panama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Elsa Richardson and her brother, George L. Richardson.
Survivors include her two sons, Douglas Bellingham, of Birkenfeld, Oregon and James Bellingham and his wife, Cherie, of Birkenfeld, Oregon and her daughter-in-law, Diana Dair Meyer of Freeport, Florida.
Also surviving are her three grandchildren and their spouses, Derek and Deanna Bellingham, of Kirkland, Washington; Dia Layo, of Roseville, California and Christine and Todd Wilkinson, of Horton, Oregon; her seven great-grandchildren and their spouses, Dylan Bellingham, of Kirkland, Washington; Dr. Khloe and Brandon Kaufmann, of Reno, Nevada; Madisyn Layo, of San Francisco, California; Cooper Layo, of Roseville, California; Rebecca Wilkinson, of Portland, Oregon; Ciara and Zack Clark, of Horton, Oregon and Hayden and Ashley Wilkinson, of Horton, Oregon. Her six great-great-grandchildren, Eljin Song; Elizabeth and Jackson Clark, and Aria and Oliver Wilkinson, Paisley Kaufman and nephews Joe Richardson, Monte Bellingham, Marty Bellingham, Kyle Trenholm, Loren Trenholm, Greg Bellingham, Brad Bellingham, Jeff Bellingham, and Ross Bellingham, and nieces April Viet, Sandy Taylor, Sherel Stosik, and Teri Holm.

Alison Anne Barss Dinger was born May 7, 1952, in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of the late Richard Hawks Barss and Anne Marie (Tetlow) Barss. She was raised and received her education in Portland, having been a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1970.
Upon her high school graduation, Alison attended School of Fashion, Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.
She was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” A. Dinger on May 13, 1978, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Beaverton, Oregon. They celebrated their 43rd Wedding Anniversary this past May. They resided in Vernonia for the duration of their marriage.
Alison was a homemaker and stay at home mom to her four children.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vernonia, having been an active member of the Relief Society.
Among her special interests, Alison enjoyed genealogy, sewing, quilting, gardening, flowers and had a love for all animals.
Alison was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Anne Barss.

MICHAEL LIND HAYES was born April 25, 1950 in Florence, Oregon, the son of the late Herbert Hayes and Joyce (Moore) Hayes. He was raised and received his education in the Florence community, having been a graduate of the Siuslaw High School Class of 1968. Upon his high school graduation, Michael attended Portland State University, having received a bachelor of science degree.
Upon his high school graduation, he joined the United States Navy on January 16, 1969 in Florence, Oregon. Michael served for two years, until receiving his honorable discharge on July 1, 1970 at the rank of CE3.
Michael was united in marriage to Elin J. Cousins on July 9, 1977 in Lake Oswego, Oregon. They celebrated their 43rd Wedding Anniversary this past July. Following their marriage they resided in Portland, until 1995, when they moved to their home in the Vernonia community, where they have resided since.
He had worked as a security manager/supervisor for Intel, Inc. for over forty years, until he retired.
Among his special interests, Michael enjoyed carpentry, having built their current home in the Vernonia community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Joyce Hayes and his brother, John Hayes.

DONALD EUGENE WILLARD was born January 31, 1936 in Los Angeles, California, at Long Beach Com, Hospital. The son of the late Richard A. Willard, a USN WWII Veteran and Marguerite F. Smith, who worked in the Navy shipyard in Redondo Beach during WWII. He was raised and received his education at Redondo Beach, California, having been a graduate of the Redondo Union High School Class of 1954. And during the war he attended the Southern California Military Academy at Signal Hill.
He was united in marriage to Diane Gallianger in 1954 at Redondo Beach, California. Following their marriage they made their home in the community of Redondo Beach, California; until moving to the Vernonia community to build the Fishhawk Dam in Birkenfield, OR. He was the general foreman (Iron worker) on the project. Donald had worked as a union iron worker on the west coast, including Seattle, Los Angeles
and Portland. Several projects included the highway system and the river beds in Los Angeles, Edwards Air Force Base, missile silos, the Freemont Bridge in Portland, Trojan Nuclear plant in Rainer and multiple dams on the Columbia and Snake river systems, until he retired at the age of fifty-five years old.
He was a member of the Iron Worker’s Union Local #416 in Los Angeles, and Union Local #29 in Portland.
Among his special interests, Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Oregon coast and scuba diving, gardening, farming and aikido yoga. He served as a commercial scuba diver, working salvage and seafood, collecting steamer clams for restaurants. Donald owned and operated a commercial fishing boat called “The Four “D’s” for several years out of Nehalem Bay at Georges Dock (Marina), and would fish from the Columbia bar down to Cape Lookout in Pacific City.
After raising their family in Vernonia Oregon, Donald and Diane later divorced, and Donald never remarried.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Willard and Marguerite F. (Smith) Jones.
Survivors include his son and three daughters and son-in laws; Donald Eugene Willard, II. and Bertha Willard, of Vernonia, Oregon; Susan and Kevin Robertson, of Vernonia, Oregon; Vicky and Gordon Compton, of Buxton, Oregon and Donna and Bruce Hepler, of Vernonia, Oregon.

She was united in marriage to James P. Zummach and following their marriage they resided in Pendleton, Oregon for many years until his death when she moved back to the coast to be close to her sons.
Among Nora’s special interests, she enjoyed sewing, playing pool, clam digging, playing the slot machines, phone calls, and spending time with family and friends.

Upon his high school graduation he attended Santa Ana Community College in Orange County. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served one enlistment in the United States Army as a Chaplain’s Assistant. After his tour of duty in Vietnam, Grant attended Arizona College of the Bible in Phoenix and Western Seminary in Portland.
Grant was united in marriage to El Donna Schlapkohl on January 30, 1988 in Phoenix, Arizona. They celebrated their 33rd Wedding Anniversary this past January. Following their marriage they resided in Oregon and finally settling in Vernonia.
He served as minister and founder of the Open Door Gathering Place in Vernonia. Grant also drove school bus for the Vernonia School District 47J for several years.
Grant was a member of the Lions Club for 27 years and even served as President. He was also elected to Vernonia’s City Council.
Among his special interests, he enjoyed stamp collecting and serving the community.

Darrell Gwin, sixth generation resident of Vernonia, Oregon died of a heart attack on Friday, August 6, 2021. He was 59 years old. Darrell was born in Tillamook, Oregon on November 11, 1961, the son of Dick and Kathleen Gwin. After living a short time in Tillamook, the family moved back to Vernonia. Darrell was united in marriage to Judi Eide on December 30th, 1984 in Las Vegas. Following their marriage, they made their home in Vernonia and raised their own three children as well as several nephews and the children of family friends. Darrell was a loving father and family man.
Darrell was a 1979 graduate of Vernonia High School and played several high school sports. He was a member of the winning football team of 1978. During the summers while attending high-school, Darrell went to work with his father and brother as a logger, and later was a co-owner and operator of Gwin & Son’s Logging. Darrell was a fan of muscle cars, especially Mopar and enjoyed driving “fast & furiously”. Darrell was well known and liked in the town of Vernonia and was a loyal friend to many.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at the Vernonia Scout Cabin, 901 Park Street in Vernonia. Family Graveside Services will precede the ceremony at 11:00 A.M. at the Vernonia Memorial Cemetery, 2080 Bridge Street in Vernonia.
DAVID “BRUCE” McNAIR was born November 12, 1957, in Olathe, Colorado, the son of the late Robert McNair, Sr. and Cleo (Lamping) McNair. As a young child, he moved with family to Oregon, settling in the Vernonia community. Bruce was raised and received his education in Vernonia, having been a member of Vernonia High School Class of 1975.
He had worked as a logger in the timber industry for many years, for Crown Zellerbach in Vernonia and Paulson Logging Company in Scappoose. Bruce also owned and operated B & H Logging Company for several years. In the 1980’s, he logged in Alaska for several years.
Bruce was an invested member of the Vernonia community, throughout his life. His participation and concern in City of Vernonia happenings was extensive.
He served as a City Budget Committee member; City Council member; City Council Committee Chair; Vernonia Planning Commission and Vernonia Memorial Cemetery Commission. He was passionate about making the community a better place.
Among his special interests, he enjoyed hunting, reading and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Bruce had a special love for spending time with his family and visiting with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Cleo McNair; his brother, Brian McNair and his son, David Bruce McNair, Jr.
Survivors include his son, Joshua McNair, of Vernonia, Oregon; his daughter-in-law, Joshauna Savorelli, of Portland, Oregon; his brother, Robert McNair, Jr., of Estacada, Oregon; his sister, Rebecca McNair, of Hillsboro, Oregon and his stepmother, Nellie McNair, of Sherwood, Oregon.
