Donna Young Bugge - August 17, 1949 - April 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: Donna Young Bugge, 72, of Buffalo Gap, Texas, formerly of College Station, Texas, passed away on April 22, 2022. Donna was born to Alice Marie Young and Carl Lease Young, and was the third born out of four children. She grew up in College Station, Texas, and even spent a few years in Munich, Germany, when her father was stationed there during her early childhood. She was a bookkeeper for most of her working career, working for almost 26 years in the plumbing field. Outside of work, Donna loved to travel, especially with her sister Jessica. They had a goal to travel to all 50 states together. She also enjoyed hitting the casino with her sister and friends, and was an avid canoe racer until 2000. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was a member of the Quilts for Cops group, the "Buffalo Gap Sew Sisters". Some of her greatest accomplishments include completing the Texas Water Safari, a 260-mile canoe race, eight times and being the first and only woman to finish 2nd overall. When she retired from racing, she continued to be a "team captain" for many years, supporting her family that continued to race. She was also a proud mom of five, as she raised her three children and her two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Marie Young and Carl Lease Young; brother Carl Milton Young; and grandson Lane Compton. She is survived by her sister, Jessica Young Munson, and brother Kenneth Cullen Young; children Dawn Marie Bugge, Donald Paul Bugge, and Jennifer Anne Bugge; and granddaughters who she raised, Jessica Lynne Davis and Cecili Lane Bugge. She has three great-grandchildren; Karlie, Molly, and Lucas Davis. A celebration of life will be planned in Donna's honor in the near future.

Pat was born in Ballinger, Texas on October 26, 1953 to Cecil and Hazel Neff. After graduating from Jim Ned high school, Pat joined the United States Navy. Pat served for our country from 1973 to 1976. It was then he became a heavy equipment operator for many years and retired from the storm water division of the city of Abilene. Pat was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Donna. His children: Janie, Kayla, Jory and James. As well as his sisters Linda Fry and Karen Rose.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 20,2022 from 5-7 Pm at Fry-Smith Funeral Home, 502 Kent Avenue, Tuscola TX. A funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Lawn Baptist Church with Mark Moore Officiating. Interment will follow at McBee Cemetery. Gary was born April 8, 1941, in Borger TX to the late Clifford and Edna Joy Hart. Gary's childhood was spent growing up on the family farm in Breckenridge, TX. Moving to Abilene in 1954 for his high school years, Gary attended Abilene High School where he graduated in 1959. Working at an auto supply house during those years just to help fund his car projects prepared him for his later job at Carpenters Truck Repair beginning around 1960 Gary met and later married Pat Martin on November 3, 1967. Together they moved to Ft. Worth in 1968. Gary soon started computer tech school at National Data Communications. After finishing tech school, they returned to Abilene where he started work at the 1st State Bank. Gary remained in the computer department even as it changed ownership over the years, until he's retirement 31 years later. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Edna Joy Hart; daughter, Ginger Lynette Hart; son, Clinton Wayne Hart; his two sisters, Karen Hart and Janis Hudson.

Jareene Holcomb Giesecke of New Braunfels, Texas went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 11 at the age of 90.  She was born May 29, 1931 in Turkey, TX in Hall County. Jareene (Rinkie, to her family and friends) married Leon (LC) Giesecke in Quitaque, TX on July 20, 1950 and celebrated 67 years together. Rinkie spent most of her life in the banking industry. She rose from a teller to Senior Vice President and Director of Montgomery County NA Bank and remained with the bank through its acquisition by Texas Commerce Bank in the Late 80’s, ultimately retiring in 1994. Rinkie and LC moved to the Texas Hill Country (Fredericksburg) in 1994 to enjoy retirement.
Rinkie was preceded in death by her husband LC, parents Jack and Reona Holcomb and brother Jerry Holcomb.
Rinkie is survived by daughter Joanette and husband Bobby Haney; daughter, Janette and husband Randy Moerbe; son, Leon and wife Janet Giesecke. Grandchildren, Robby and wife Carrie Haney, Lacy Haney, Jamie and husband Dale Allen, Jennie and husband Cody Chrismon, Nate Giesecke and wife to be Breanna Garcia, Jared Giesecke. Great-grandchildren; Blaine and Emily Allen, Jacy, Caden and Callie Chrismon; Baby boy Haney, expected soon.
Graveside Service and Internment will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday April 29th at the Texas Veterans Cemetery, Abilene Texas.
The Family would like to thank the staff of Eden Hill Community and Hope Hospice for providing comfort and care to mom during her last months.

Obituary Preview: BUFFALO GAP: Shirley June (Ewing) Lott-Roberson, 85, lifelong resident of Buffalo Gap, Texas, passed away on March 28, 2022, in Abilene.
She was born in Anson, Texas, to Carlos Ewing and Nancy Pearl (McCoy) Ewing on June 5, 1936. Shirley attended school in Anson and Abilene.  She worked at the Buffalo Gap Steakhouse for many years then became the assistant manager of the Buffalo Gap Liquor Store and later manager of H & H Beverages in Abilene. She was a Baptist and loved to travel, go fishing, camping, and work with ceramics and other crafts. For several years, Shirley was the First-Place winner at the Dyess Arts and Crafts Fair for her ceramics. She also won Best of Show at the West Texas Fair and Rodeo. Shirley was known to donate her ceramics, as well as other crafts she had created, to benefit various fund-raising efforts.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charley (Rip) Roberson (2007); son, Clinton David Lott (2019); and brothers, Elzie Ewing, Archie Ewing, and Riley Ewing.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Wallace, and husband Brian, of Valle De Oro; son, Johnny Lott of Abilene; grandchildren, Kevin Wallace, Justin Wallace, Chris Wallace, Michael Lott, and Christina Parra; and three great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by a brother, Carrol Ewing, of Novice; sisters, Fern Baird, of Houston and Helen Hackney, of Kerrville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, 2022, 5:00 - 7:00 pm, at Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Lemons Gap Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022, at 10:00am at Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. Rebecca was born in Roscoe on April 18, 1946, to J. C. Richburg and Virgie Ruth (Lamb) Richburg. She graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene in 1964, and after graduating she joined the United States Air Force. Upon her honorable discharge from the Air Force, she went to work in the data entry field. She retired in 1995 from data entry and moved to Tuscola to help care for her parents and then enter the home health care field. She was a member of the Lions Club and American Legion. She attended the First Baptist Church of Tuscola. Rebecca loved to play board games and cards, with Mexican Train being her all time favorite. She enjoyed surfing the internet and watching TV. Rebecca always looked forward to keeping up with her family at the Richburg family reunions and with her family on the telephone. Rebecca was a kind soul and always had a smile. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Hill and husband Jack Maddox of Payson, AZ, seven nephews, two nieces, and two grand nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dane Richburg (2018).

Luan was the youngest child of Lee and Clyta Lovelady. She had worked several jobs over the years but was best known for managing Cowtown Boots for 14 years until it closed. She loved her children and grandchildren so much and was happiest when cooking for her family. She loved making dishes, like chicken and dumplings, chocolate delight, carrot cake, banana pudding, and the kids’ favorite, sugar toast. Until her last days, she still enjoyed the TV show, NCIS, playing dominos and the card game, UNO.
Luan was proceeded in death by her husband, Henry E. (Blackie) Meyer, her parents, Lee and Clyta Lovelady, three brothers, Leo, Elvis, and Gerald Lovelady, and two sisters, Lois Ferguson and Betty Cannon. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Meyer of Hawley, her sons, Rick and wife, Kim of Hawley, and Vic and wife, Zina of Nolan. She has nine grandkids, Brandi Jenkins and husband Donnell, Sandy Nguyen, Hailey Meyer, Kelsey Meyer, Cassidy Meyer, Sheroke Meyer, Matthew Meyer and wife, Shy Anne, Riley Meyer, and Elizabeth Meyer. Obituary Preview: Ruth Ellen Meeks, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 22, 2022. Ruth was born on May 30, 1925 to Rubin and Jessie Lee Haygood. She was born in the small town of Jersey, Arkansas. Her family moved to Star City, Arkansas where she helped on her family farm and with their restaurant. She married Allen Meeks on June 1, 1941. They were married for 54 years. During that time they lived in numerous states while working in churches. They had 4 children. In 1960 they followed the Lord's leading and moved their family to Alaska to help start churches throughout the state. In the late 1960's to early 1970's, Ruth and Allen bought Anchor Bible Book Store in Anchorage, Alaska. The book store grew and grew, supporting local churches and churches all throughout the state. Ruth was able to touch the lives of many people for Christ through her store during all those years. Ruth is proceeded in death by her parents; 6 siblings, Oma Lee, Anna, Grady, Jonnie Mac, Lois, and RV; her loving husband, Allen Meeks; her daughter, Marsha King; and her grandson, Chris Meeks. Left to cherish her memories are her 3 children, Donna Bingham, Steve Meeks, and Beth Anderson. Ruth leaves a great legacy through her 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, along with many family members, nieces and nephews, and in-laws who love her dearly. Obituary Preview: Nancy Ann Cox Welch, 85, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Elm Creek Baptist Church, 6110 FM 89, Tuscola. Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, February14, 2022, in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by Fry-Smith Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by her grandson-in-law, Bro. Ben Graves and Pastor Ernie McLean. Nancy was born February 17, 1936, to Henry G. and Gladis I. Huestis in Henrietta, Texas. She married Dale W. Cox on July 18, 1952, in Forsan, Texas. They had four children. Nancy said "Dale had always wanted children as he was an only child. So I fulfilled his dream and had four children in seven and a half years. I really don't think he wanted me to get so carried away, but once you have them you wouldn't take a million dollars for any of them." She married Tom Welch April 10, 1999, in Tuscola, Texas. She was a member of Elm Creek Baptist Church for many years and a previous member of Elm Valley Community Church. She was a loving dedicated wife, mother, and Nana. She worked for Gooch Packing Plant for many years until they closed and then Hendrick Hospital until her retirement. She was preceded in death by both husbands, parents, brothers Gene and Wayne Huestis, sisters, Theresa Crabtree and Gaye Boyd, and daughter Theresa "Treedy" Pentecost and son-in-law Dean Miller. Survivors include brother Bob Huestis and wife Jan, sister-in-law Jane Huestis and brother-in-law Jerry Boyd. Sons Carl (Sondra) Cox and Ronnie Cox of Tuscola, daughter Kathy Miller of Tuscola and son-in-law Dwight Pentecost of Tuscola. Grandchildren Michelle (Brad) Spisak of Warren, Michigan, Melissa (Brent) Irby of Prosper, Texas, Candice Cox of Merkel, Texas, Nancy Cox of Abilene, Texas, Chris and Andy Cox of Tye, Texas, Kristyn (Ben) Graves of Mineola, Texas, and Jared Pentecost of Tuscola. Sheldon Allan Weinstein - August 04, 1933 - February 04, 2022

Obituary Preview: ABILENE- Sheldon Allan Weinstein, died on February 4,2022. He was born on August 4, 1933, in Winthrop, Massacuchests, the son of Jack and Rilla (Edwards) Weinstein. Sheldon Graduated from Revere High School in June of 1951. Following his graduation, he entered the United States Air Force on April 9, 1953. He worked his way up the ranks and retired as a Master Sergeant in October of 1973. During his time abroad is where he met his loving wife of almost 65 years. Sheldon and Irma wed in Kaufburen Germany on June 1, 1957. After his retirement from the USAF, Sheldon worked passionately as a mail carrier and retired after 17 years of service in 1991. The two built a wonderful life together, having two children, Glenn and Amy. The pair were very active in their community and spent years volunteering for the Meals on Wheels of Abilene as well as in the gift shop of Abilene Regional Medical Center. They also enjoyed playing Bingo at the VFW in Abilene and it was very rare that they missed a session. Sheldon was a gentle giant. He loved his family and would do anything to help, always a phone call away if anyone needed anything. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sandra and loving family dog, Lexus. He is survived by Sheldon's wife Irma Weinstein, their children Glenn Weinstein and Amy Acosta both of Abilene, grandchildren Scott Weinstein and Lainey Acosta and great-grandson Cutter Lee as well as many extended family members and loving friends. A graveside service, with honors, will take place on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at 2:00pm in the committal shelter at the Texas State Veteran's Cemetery, Abilene. Visitation for friends and family to gather to remember Sheldon will take place at Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola from 5-7 pm on Monday, February 21. Those who wish to remember Sheldon in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Meals on Wheels of Abilene or the Abilene Humane Society.

Obituary Preview: Dorothy Jane Bell (Dot, Nana, Momma) 74 Born 1/16/1948 in Abilene, Tx to Herman Alton Swindle and Eunice Fay Roberson Swindle
She received her Heavenly Wings on 1/30/2022 surrounded by her family.  In her early years she worked at Eaton’s processing plant, Pride Refinery, and other various jobs. She loved to take care of people which led her to become a CNA and work in home health for over 20 years.   However, She was the most fulfilled raising her children and in the kitchen making meals for her family and friends. Dorothy was not only known for her cooking but for her Special Christmas candy that she shared with the community. She was a beautiful Lady and very talented. She could do anything. She loved music and dancing and was always laughing and cutting up. Her beautiful smile and contagious personality will be missed.  Her wonderful Spirit will forever be cherished by her children. Lenora Arlyne Reid - May 24, 1927 - January 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: Lenora Arlyne Gallas Reid, 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
She was a lady who never had a cross word to say about anyone, never met a stranger, made friends very easily and a member of the Lawn Church of Christ.
Lenora was born May 24, 1927 in Miles, Texas to E.F. Gallas and Louise Kiesling Gallas. Lenora lived throughout West Texas and in South America with her husband, a maintenance supervisor in the oil and gas industry, and her three sons. The family settled in Lawn in 1973.
She attended school in Miles, Texas. Later, she worked in the retail industry and for the phone company.
Lenora was known as “Lady” to her brothers and sisters and “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her loving and caring spirit won her the Citizen of the Month award in the first edition of the Jim Ned Journal newspaper.
She loved going to church and was an active member of the Lawn Church of Christ for over forty-nine years. She enjoyed daily bible readings, Christian word find, and putting puzzles together with Darryl. She also enjoyed collecting souvenir spoons from Gerald Alan’s and Randal’s trips and watching game shows. She had a zest for good food and really enjoyed family gatherings. She especially enjoyed opening her home to family and friends for visits and companionship.
She, along with Gerald Norris, taught their sons many things, most importantly, to love and believe in God and Jesus Christ and his teachings.
Lenora was a wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She will be remembered as a loving lady and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her sons Gerald Alan Reid (Diana) of Abilene and Randal Norris Reid of Lawn; sister-in-law Ida Reid of Lawn; grandchildren Gerald Wayne Reid (Chelsea) of Wichita Falls, Britton Reid (Kari) of Lawn, Emily Reid of Austin, Ashley Flatt of Abilene; Aaron Flatt (Lacey) of Abilene, and Wyatt Rodgers of Austin, eight great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Gerald Norris Reid; son, Darryl Lee Reid; brothers, Clinton, Leroy, Melvin and sisters, Ellen, Edna, AlmaLene, Nelda and Mary.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Wayne Reid, Britton Reid, Emily Reid, Clay Riddle, Wayne Elkins, and James Matheson. Honorary Pallbearers are Aaron Flatt, Ashley Flatt, Wyatt Rodgers, and Devin Stewart.
The family would like to thank Lily Mae Davis and everyone at Caprock Home Health Services, Janie Gonzales, and everyone at Generations Home Health, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff of the ICU unit of Hendrick Medical Center South.

Obituary Preview: Nora "Ellen" Mullings King, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Nora's funeral will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, January 19, 2021 in the sanctuary of Lawn Baptist Church, Mark Moore officiating, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. Burial will be held a 1:00pm in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Abilene. A visitation is on Tuesday January 18, from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home. Born June 28, 1946, in Knox City, she was the seventh of eleven children born to to John Raymond and Maranda LeNora (Collins) Mullings. In Brownfield, Texas, she met and then later married the love of her life and best friend, Clarence King on November 5, 1962. Together they raised their three children. Known to most everyone as "Grannyma", she spent her life loving anyone and everyone who would let her, and even a few against their will (although she won them over in the end). Grannyma had the kindest and most tender heart, and was able to find the good in every person. She was always looking for the next person to help. She gave selflessly in all aspects of her life and shared her love in heaping measurements. Grannyma served as a Sunday School teacher in the three- and four-year-old's classroom at Lawn Baptist Church for many years and taught several generations of children about Jesus and His love for them. She also worked for and then retired from the Jim Ned CISD cafeteria after twenty-five years of baking, serving, and touching the hearts and lives of countless students and staff with her famous rolls. She then worked another eleven years at The Homeplace where she provided award winning service before retiring from there as well. Grannyma didn't see retirement as a chance to slow down but instead spent her time baking, sewing, and crafting for others and was often heard saying "I found a new recipe". Nora Ellen King is preceded in death by her parents, John Raymond and Maranda LeNora Mullings, brothers Paul Raymond Mullings, William GR Mullings, London Ray Mullings, Jerry MacAuthor Mullings, and Terry Lynn Mullings, and one great-grand Baby King born into Heaven. She leaves behind her husband of fifty-nine years, Clarence King, son Brian King and wife Tammie, daughters Mel Bradshaw, and Laurie Voce and husband Patrick, grandchildren Kole King and wife Christi, Kara King, Kali King, Collin Tate and wife Sarah, Ian Voce, Evan Tate, Carlie Voce, and Aiden Voce,as well as great-grandchildren Charly King, Case King, Cooper King, Theo Tate, and Norah Tate. Although we know that she is happy and healed in heaven, she leaves behind a sugar cookie sized hole in the lives of those she loved. Birthdays will never be the same without hearing her sing to us in her special way. Grannyma, we love you more than green ice-cream. Grannyma requested that donations in lieu of flowers be sent to On the Way Home Ministries. This was a special ministry to her that she spent many hours making jelly, jams, salsa, and other homemade items for. Obituary Preview: Bonnie Fairey of Winters, 99, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022, after a brief illness. Bonnie was born on March 28, 1922, to O.H. and Ida Mae Casey near Belton, Texas, the third of seven children. She married Edwin Arthur Fairey in 1937 and they settled in Winters. She was employed in the cafeteria of Winters Independent School District for 11 years, but her life was characterized by caring for others - first for her energetic family of nine children, then to devoted childcare, and finally to a long list of friends and family to whom she showed love and comfort in their later years. Bonnie was a person who loved much and was much loved in return. She was a person of faith in Jesus Christ and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Winters. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, six siblings, and son James Fairey. She is survived by two sons, John Fairey of Winters and Jack (Melanie) Fairey of Granbury, and six daughters: Dorothy Pruett of Graham, Evelyn Marie Cariker of Georgetown, Kathryn (Leroy) Kraatz of Goldsboro, Mary Miles of Abilene, Ginger (Steve) Tatom of Kingsland, and Barbara Lovett of Lubbock. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She will also be missed by many, including special friends Bryan and Marcie Webb and Mary Esquivel. Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 10:30am at First Baptist Church in Winters with burial to follow in Lake View Cemetery, with Rev. Barry Taylor officiating, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 5 - 7 pm at the funeral home in Tuscola.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home. Barbara was born on December 29, 1949 in Abilene to the late George Walter and Jessie (Spencer) Burton. She grew up in Lawn and attended school there. She had three sisters and one brother. She learned hard work and to love even harder from the most amazing parents. Barbara worked for many years for Pediatric Associates of Abilene, after leaving there she worked for over twenty years for TDCJ. She married Joseph Martin and had a daughter Heather in 1974 and a son Joseph "Beau" in 1982. She also had a granddaughter Mackenzie in 2000 and a grandson Kolton in 2008. She loved her kids and grandkids fiercely and unconditionally. She loved watching her grandkids in all of their sports and recently got to see Mackenzie graduate from Texas Tech University. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents. She is survived by her children daughter, Heather Cardenas and husband David; son, Beau Martin; granddaughter Mackenzie; grandson Kolton; brother, Glen Burton; sisters, Mary Pearson, Margaret Grant, and Debbie Kershman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are directed by Fry - Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola, Texas. Pastor Roy C. Keith, Tuscola United Methodist Church, will be officiating. Eric was born on June 18, 1971, in Abilene, Texas, to Kenney Ross Rogers and Gwynne (Lockley) Rogers. The son of a career United States Marine, Eric and sister Kristi, followed their dad and mom while serving in the military. Eric graduated from Duncanville, Texas, with later college credits. Eric worked diligently and effectively throughout his life, in construction and operating heavy equipment with TxDot and others. Eric was a man of many talents, and utilized them in remodeling his home. Craftsman - woodworking, designing, and remodeling. Musician - country guitarist and vocals, with an ear for classical. As a guitarist. Eric played with Kelly's band when they were on stage at Billy Bob's Texas, opening for a major recording artist. Technician - skilled in electronics, computer technology, audio and visual, Mechanical - skilled with engine repair, heavy equipment operator and loved his Harley-Davidson bike. Landscaper - Rogers Family Landscape Contractors - Played a key role. Eric loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. A football enthusiast, Eric followed college football with great enthusiasm, especially Texas A & M. He was Baptisted in to the Methodist chruch at a young age. Eric was preceded in death by his father, Kenney Ross Rogers, Grandparents, Lonnie and Nelda Lockley, and Oleta and Bob Whitt, and one uncle, Mike Rogers. Eric is survived by his precious daughter Nicole (Rogers) Haines. Also surviving are his devoted mother, Gwynne Rogers; sister, Kristi Stillings and niece, Ruby Stillings., aunt and uncle Lynne and Bill Keys, first cousin Cindy Tucker and husband Mark, along with their children, Ashlyn and Luke. Also aunt Charlotte Rogers and first cousins E. G. Rogers and Leslie Rogers. Lifelong friend Gwin (Flip) Hunter and wife Julie and their sons, Nathan and Daniel.
