Departed: 09/10/2021 (Austin)
Obituary Preview: Norah Lee Howard passed away peacefully at home, September 9, 2011 due to complications from brain cancer.
During the last season Norah spent on earth, Norah and her family made the most of every opportunity to enjoy and celebrate her life together. She received a new puppy named "Tiny," enjoyed a new bedroom (with a bed big enough to accommodate her little sister), rode horses, and played with friends. She ate her fill of Chick-fil-A breakfasts and spaghetti and meatball dinners. She enjoyed a Light Parade concert in her living room and a dream vacation to Disney World. She was able to celebrate two significant family events: the adoption of her new brother and her own baptism. And she was blessed by the many prayerful, sacrificial, and celebratory efforts of her friends and family.
Norah's family walked this journey with faith, courage, and grace as Norah faced adversity with the strength of an amazing family behind her, a strong community around her, and a promise of heaven ahead of her, expressing a childlike trust in her future with Jesus.

Daniel Goertz - June 25, 1961 - August 31, 2021

Departed: 08/31/2021 (Austin)
Obituary Preview: Daniel Eugene Goertz died at the age of 60 on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021 at 11:00 pm in Austin, TX, where he was also born on June 25th, 1961.
Dan graduated from Crockett High School and continued his education at the University of Texas at Austin. During these years of high school and college is where he met his lifelong friends, affectionately referred to as "The Gang". Dan spent the last 26 years of his professional career with Dell Technologies, where he gained the respect and love of his closest colleagues.
Above all else, Dan was most passionate about his family and faith, both of which guided him in all aspects of life. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and also served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered his time in the adoration chapel at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, TX.
Dan looked most forward to his Sunday-Monday PK & Popsy days, where he would spend countless hours letting Palmer press all the buttons in his truck, pushing her down the hill on her red car, preparing for her "fun ball" debut, and letting her rummage through everything in the garage. He also planned most of his days around the Astros schedule, and staying current on all the shows he watched with Gayla, Kyle, Skylar, and Lacy. He loved listening to country music with Kyle and going dancing with his family and friends. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends, whether it was just visiting and laughing, drinking Miller Lite, or playing some of his favorite games (Quixx, Yahtzee, Dueces, Dominoes, Cornhole).
Dan is preceded in death by his father, James Goertz. Dan is survived by his wife of 33 years, Gayla Goertz; their children, Kyle Goertz, Lacy Newman, Skylar Chaney, and Matt Goertz; his beloved son-in-laws, Alex Newman and Dustin Chaney; and his three precious grandchildren, Palmer, James, and Gavin. He also leaves behind his mother Ruth Goertz; his brothers Stephen and Warren Goertz and their families, and his sister Lori Goertz.
Dan was truly one of a kind and a beloved Popsy, father, husband, son, brother, friend, and member of "The Gang". We feel great comfort in knowing Dan is reunited with his dad in Heaven and they are smiling down on us as they play dominoes, pick guitars, and drink beer together.

Louis rests in the Lord's arms now. ~Sept.13, 1988-Aug. 19th, 2021~ In Memory We have all lost someone that we love today One that we all wish was never taken from us this way But God thought it was his time to leave And now this is the moment, For us, his family & friends to grieve We keep asking ourselves why Why do the good die young? Why don't we ever get a warning To when our day will come? We were all just having birthdays and having so much fun Tell us why you had to take him, I mean our lives have just begun It hurts so much to think that he no longer is here When we keep seeing his face, through each and every falling tear Now knowing that his memory will never disappear Although we keep pleading that this tragedy is anything but real We are demanding the pain we feel of our hearts breaking and tearing from the seams, to somehow just be one heart-rendering bad dream Though as we awaken and realize it is not We can remember the good times we had with him And forget about the times we all fought And continue to cherish all the memories We will never forget his laughter & smile He was loving, caring, kind, sweet and so so funny And we will not forget because we all have a piece of him within us And he will forever be remembered For every single memory we have of him will last forever "Louito" my son, my brother, my "uncs," my nephew, my friend, my companion, my love; We hope that you knew How many people truly cared about you And that in your passing you have taught us That we should always stand tall And that we have to try to make the best of it all Hopefully through this tragedy we all will wake up & see That life can be short and taken from us so easily You truly will be missed by so many We are grateful for knowing you And blessed to have been part of your life We know that Heaven's gates Have been opened up for you The Angels have given you your wings So that you will now watch over us And encourage us to strive and do better things A poem written by Elizabeth Mooney, edited/modified by LouAnn
