Loren J Ritz - December 29, 1941 - March 04, 2024

Departed: 03/04/2024 (Demotte)
Obituary Preview: The servant’s heart of Loren James Ritz took its last beat as he went to be with the Lord, on Monday, March 4, 2024.
Loren was born on Dec. 29, 1941, to Robert and Ellen Ritz. He grew up in Valparaiso and graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1960. As a young man, Loren had plans to join the military and fight in the Vietnam War but Uncle Sam had different plans for him. As a tool and die maker, his master skills were needed to make bearings for the military. He retired from McGill’s after 44 years.
Loren was a bit of a rebel as a younger man until he gave his life to Jesus. Little did the man with the cocky smile in his younger years know that he would meet the love of his life during a singles Christian event. Loren was unaware that meeting Arlene (Cimoch) Schreiner would bring him a second family full of love, laughs, and memories. The two married on July 4, 1985.
Loren was never one to stop working. He had a curiosity about how things worked and a knack for knowing how to fix any problem. After retiring he spent countless hours lending a helping hand to those around him. He could regularly be seen at the church cleaning or repairing a minor issue. His tender heart also showed his love through pranks. He would leave notes of love from the phantom and his family never knew when they would find a random dryer sheet in their belongings.
Loren is survived by his wife, Arlene; sons, James Ritz, and Phillip (Malia) Ritz; daughters, Amber (Harley) Tomlinson, and Beccah (Josh) Ward; grandchildren, Nicole Ritz, Krista Ritz, Madeline Ritz, Timothy McAlister, Coy McAlister, Calla Tomlinson, Kate Tomlinson, Elisha Ward, Ezekiel Ward, and Ezra Ward; great-grandchild, Ezra McAlister; family friend Kathy Peirce; church family and extended family members.
He is preceded by his parents; brother Robert Eugene Ritz; and granddaughter Isabel Ward.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 4 p.m. (CST), at Calvary Assembly of God Church in DeMotte. Visitation will start at 3 p.m. (CST). Frazier Funeral Home and Cremation Services have been entrusted with arrangements

She is Survived by her husband, Randell Sopher; children, Ali-Jah (Leah) Chahrour, Francisco Alvarado Jr, Mercede Alvarado, Olincatl Bush, Elizbeth Byrd, Katelynn and Kristopher; grandchildren: Elena, Jupiter, Odysseus, Halo, Calypso, Everleigh, Emma, Asaiah and Elliot; Mother and Father In-Law Randell and Rosanna Sopher; brothers Anthony, Larry (Terri); Sisters In-Law Jenny (Gordan) Young and Melissa Sopher; nephew, Terrick. She was an adrenaline junky and was always up for the next adventure that came her way. She never liked school from the first day of kindergarten to the last day of high school and she had no problem letting you know that. She knew the importance of education and taught her children to stick it out and do their best regardless of how they felt about it. She worked many different jobs in her life, but there was none she loved more than he love for photography. She did many graduations and weddings as well as professional photos for police departments in Indiana and much more. In 2019, she married Randall Sopher, who brought her immeasurable joy and love. Tiffany was kind, tenderhearted, funny and always a joy to be around. No matter the circumstance, she would always try to bring a smile to everyone's face, always had interesting ways of doing things while thinking outside of the box. One thing you could always count on was 1,000 pictures of whatever it was we were doing. It did not matter the circumstances, if she was with you, you were going to be photographed. Growing up with her as a
mom was something we would not change for the world. She instilled in all of us a lot of good things. She kept us in church and made sure we knew the most important thing in life was putting God first. She taught us manners and how to be outgoing. She felt like a friend when you needed her most and corrected us when we did wrong. To say she will be dearly missed is an understatement.
