Adleda Louissaint - February 22, 1935 - April 07, 2022

Departed: 04/07/2022 (Brooklyn)
Obituary Preview: Adleda Louissaint was born on February 22, 1935, in Janhose, Archaie, to the parentage of the late Frangère and Tulia Louissaint. She was the second of nine siblings. Adleda had seven wonderful children: Kénol Corielan, Claudette Louis, Bénita Charles, Jean Wenson Charles, Ginette Charles, Monique Momplaisir, and Eliane Toomey. To say that she loved her children would be an understatement – she adored them all. She sacrificed a lot to ensure that they attended prestigious schools to acquire utmost education. She would prepare their uniforms the night before and would also rise up early to cook them breakfast. Adleda was a hard-working woman filled with energy, discipline, determination, and ambition. She was a superb seamstress and a lucrative merchant. On March 31, 1988, she immigrated to the United States to expand her opportunities. She resided and domiciled in New Jersey for the first six months, then she moved to Long Island, New York. Adleda worked at Uniflex where she became an exemplary worker. She was quite an inspiration to her children, creating a successful pathway for them to become distinguished nurses, entrepreneurs, managers, and businessmen. She inspired everyone around her to achieve the highest of excellence.
Aunt Adleda was a real extrovert who was not shy to express herself loud and clear. She was an amazing woman and a dedicated philanthropist. Some of her attributes included amusing, selfless, respectful, friendly, enthusiastic, and generous. Everything she owned was available to donate to anyone in need. She would use her cooking talent to feed not only her family members, but also other people in her community. My aunt was blessed with multiple talents from sewing to cooking which, of course, included the making of her delicious desserts, such as cremas, confiture, and liqueur. And, she was known for her signature dishes: Légume, poisson gros sel, riz colé, poulet frit, and bannann peze.
Eliane remembers Adleda as a strong, protective, and independent mother who raised her children with great pride and dignity. Furthermore, she was very meticulous about our appearance, posture, and upbringing. Bénita affirms that Adleda was a “one-of-a-kind” mother who took care of them including all the grandchildren. In addition, her mom was a fastidious woman when it came to cleaning her house and organizing their clothes. Benson remembers Adleda as the mother, the father, and best friend he will always miss. Monique says, “Although mom was strict and tough, she was very outgoing and fun to be around – always joking.” Ginette states that Adleda was the best role model that motivated her being a single mother as well. Last but not least, Claudette remembers Adleda by her genuine character – loving and caring – how she loved to dance with them and the grandchildren during the holidays.
On February 2, 1990, she surrendered her life to Jesus Christ and became a dedicated woman that always gave God praise in all circumstances. She was a faithful servant at Upper Room Church of God. On April 7, 2022, she slipped away peacefully into the arms of the Lord. The children and extended family she left behind will surely miss her presence, her smile, and her loving spirit. We can rest assured that she is in Heaven with God and the angels singing all the songs of joy and glory. Adleda’s legacy will live on forever, and her image will remain always in our hearts.

In Heaven, he joins his beloved brother Miracin and his sister in law Rose. His oldest brother, pastor Joseph Nozius and his wife Denise, his sisters, Ilyana, Estina, and Rezia are also waiting to greet him with open arms. Our grandparents Vital and Pricile, and Jean-Nicolas Volcy who have been guiding his steps on earth will now be guiding him in Heaven.

Daniel I. Prezeau - March 21, 2005 - February 22, 2022

Departed: 02/22/2022 (Brooklyn)
Obituary Preview: Celebrating the life of our beloved Daniel Isaiah Prezeau
Daniel Isaiah Prezeau, was born March 21, 2005 in Jamaica Hospital, Queens, NY.  He was the second of four children born to Adele Audige Prezeau and Patrice Prezeau. From an early age Daniel displayed a sweet spirit. He attended PS 37Q, and later transferred to and graduated from PS/IS 270Q. He was currently attending George Washington Carver High School where he was in the nursing program and enrolled in a program for a 4 year college scholarship. The semester before school closed due to the pandemic, Daniel joined Carver’s wrestling team. His warm heart endeared him to teachers and students alike.
While at PS/IS 270, Daniel’s musical and theatrical talents were revealed. He starred as one of the hyenas in the Lion King. The next year, he auditioned for the role of Link in HairSpray and we received the first glimpse of his melodious voice and charming manner. He rendered an unforgettable performance demonstrating his acting skills, while portraying one so very different from his off stage persona. Daniel’s perseverance and dedication made him an asset to the cast. His excellent work ethic, infectious smile and warm heart made him unforgettable both on and off stage.
He was a member of the Salvation Church of God in Brooklyn, NY. where he served in the pantry and Hospitality Ministries. Daniel could be found preparing and serving meals for the parishioners and bagging groceries for the food pantry. He also set up the dining room and cleaned up after services. Daniel was loved by the entire congregation.
Daniel was a very kind  and loving soul. He was a people person. To him there were no strangers. When you met him he instantly became close to you.
One of Daniel’s favorite pastimes was eating. His favorite meal was diri ak legim (rice and vegetables with shrimp and crab) and he enjoyed many other dishes.
Daniel truly loved his family. They were a close knit group.  He was a wonderful brother. Although younger, he always looked out for his big brother David. He and his sister Abbigail were fiercely protective of each other and would keep each other’s secrets. As she said, “Daniel was my brother and best friend.”  He and his little brother Samuel were great playmates. He was a very good son. He and his dad liked to joke around and discuss the day. Dad said, “He was not only my son but we had a very strong bond.” Daniel was also a true mommy’s boy. The pair could often be found watching reality shows or live streaming church together. His loss is great and his memory sweet.
Daniel desired to become a pastor one day. His life has been a sermon because he lived as a true follower of Jesus Christ. He loved Jesus and spread His love to everyone he met. His life was a reflection of the love he received from the God he served. The gift of God is love and Daniel was a walking example of love in action. He desired that everyone would come to know and love the Lord so if you haven’t committed your life to Jesus please do so today. This would be the best way to honor Daniel’s legacy.
On Tuesday, February 22nd, God called Daniel home. He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his parents,  Adele and Patrice,  brother David, sister Abbigail, brother Samuel, best friend Joshua,  and a host of family members and friends. “To be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
Daniel, we will love and miss you every day. Lovingly submitted by the family
If you are not attending the Cemetery after the service then the family invites you to go to the reception at 10:30am.
For those of you that are going to the cemetery you are invited to go the reception after the burial service.

Mayana Milward - May 22, 1935 - February 15, 2022

Departed: 02/15/2022 (Brooklyn)
Obituary Preview: Mayana Lurline Milward (nee Abraham) was born on May 22nd, 1935, on the beautiful northeast coast of Trinidad and Tobago in Cumana Village, Toco, to Manage Abraham and Lena Sylvester Abraham. She was the eldest of three children, but very early on, before the age of five, experienced the death of her father.   Her mum immediately assumed the roles of both parents and was tenacious, driven, independent and a strong businesswoman.  Mayana carried these values throughout her life and would often remark how her mum’s resilience and bravery encouraged her through challenging times.  As a child, she attended the Cumana Roman Catholic School, the Cumana Roman Catholic Church and Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) – three organizations she loved deeply and where she formed life-long friendships.  Her mother instilled in her the importance of values such as love and respect for God, hard work and an appreciation for education.  Mayana’s love of piano inspired her to learn to type.  In fact, she said her mother told her she should type like she was playing music.  During her post high school years, she attended her cousin Peter’s business school, which was housed in the extended living room of her own home. Her studies including bookkeeping, shorthand and business studies became the foundation for her professional career.
Mayana loved growing up in Cumana Village.  She often reminisced about their little house on the breezy hill and land cultivated with scores of coconut trees and all the other fruits they grew there. Her famous saying was, “I was born looking at the ocean.”  Growing up, although Mayana only had two siblings, Alston Abraham and Alcia Abraham, it was if she had many more because many of her cousins from South Trinidad spent significant time living with them.  She recalled those years and experiences as some of the best in her childhood and remembered Miss Abraham’s house was often fondly called the “orphanage” by local villagers.
In her early twenties, Mayana started her career at the Ministry of Education and moved to Laventille to live with her mum’s younger sister, Auntie Ezra. Laventille was another family hub and layover for everyone travelling from north to south and vice versa.  Mayana made regular monthly visits back home to Toco with friends from the Ministry.  She and her friends would spend hours taking in the ocean breeze and laughing hysterically. Five years later, Mayana made the brave, adventurous decision to move to London to study, a huge step for a country girl. Her only relative there was her cousin Peter, who lived in a different city; but she ventured forth anyway.  Mayana was determined to seek a better life and to pursue her dreams; and like her own mother, was confident that she could conquer the unknown and anything that came her way. As she would frequently say, “I come from strong stock.”
Mayana was an excellent typist, and as the years went by in London, she continued to study and excel in her career.  In England, she had the loves of her life, her three daughters, twins Deborah (Debbie) and Dawn and later Sonia.  Her desire to be the great mum that she ultimately was, led her to purchase a beautiful house in a lovely part of London in a neighborhood that others never imagined she would live in.  This was all so that her three girls could attend better schools and have a more enriching childhood.  It will forever be an inspiration to her girls of how with God and stepping out boldly in faith, the impossible can be achieved.  Mayana was an avid gardener and loved to attend to her British rose garden. She loved to bless her visitors with an arm full of fresh cut roses from her garden as a parting gift.
In 1982, Mayana married her love, Aubrey Milward and soon the family emigrated to America. Again, as cream rises to the top, Mayana distinguished herself in the workplace and continued her career at the New York Stock Exchange – SIAC, where she worked until she retired.
Mayana was a devout Catholic all her life and was able to dedicate herself even more completely to charitable work after retirement. She was an active and valued member of the Holy Cross Prayer Group and was awarded the prestigious “Woman of the Year Award.” She also served as one of the coordinators in the church pantry helping impoverished New Yorkers for many years. Additionally, Mayana would encourage loved ones to donate their lightly used clothing and shoes; and was quick to let you know about the tax write-off once she suspected a hint of hesitation.  When she could no longer serve as a core member of the prayer group, she remained an active honorary member. Her generosity extended to family members in Trinidad as well as New York and around the world to ensure everyone had a chance at success. Mayana was truly her mother’s child.
Living in Europe aroused her curiosity of the world and various cultures; as a result, Mayana shared the joys and love of traveling with her daughters, and later, with her grandson Jaden. They explored many Caribbean islands, cruises, and Hawaii. One of their family’s most memorable trips, was a wonderful once in a lifetime European Tour with ten aunties and close friends which garnered many wonderful memories still being shared.
Family gatherings and celebrations were a big part of Mayana’s life with Cousin Peter, Auntie Vilma and family in London, and the tradition continued in Brooklyn.  The month of May was always royally celebrated because besides Mother’s Day, Mayana and her three children and her twin nieces, Gillian and Giselle were all born in May.  Last year, despite the COVID pandemic, her daughters surprised her with a lovely garden birthday party, surrounded by family and close friends.  There was a deep sense of pride and joy in her voice when talking about it on the phone.  Another source of great joy to her was celebrating with her family at Sylvester/Cornwall family reunions, including our 30th Anniversary Family Reunion Cruise to the Bahamas in 2019.
We will sorely miss Mayana’s hearty laughter, her joy, infectious smile, friendly and loving nature, thoughtful words of advice and wisdom, as well as her great cooking including peas and rice and stew chicken, and her celebrated signature dish, stir-fry vegetable medley which was requested at every holiday, family and church gathering.
She is pre-deceased by her brother, Alston Abraham and most recently, by her cousins Joy Cornwall, Olive Figaro and Harris Bailey. She is survived by her husband: Aubrey, sister: Alcia; her children: Debbie, Dawn (son in law - Winston) & Sonia, grandson: Jaden Williams; nieces: Pamela, Gillian (husband – Robert), Giselle, Nelsia, Alicia, Felicia, her nephew Curtis, great-nieces and nephews: Dara-Marie, Kibwe, Michael, Y’vonne, Tosshawna, Tosshawn, Tylon, Tyrek, Tyrel, Chike, Takiyah, Isha, Skai, Riva; great-great grandniece and nephews: Jahfyah, Tshay and Davone and a host of other cherished cousins and relatives.
We were truly the fortunate ones to have known and loved her and to be so deeply loved by her.    Mayana loved stronger, worked harder, gave more generously, and lived every day to the absolute fullest.  One couldn’t ask for a better mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin or friend. We will carry her love and legacy with us always and the lovely memories we cherish. Mum, we dearly love you for eternity!!
In the case that you would rather send a donation than send flowers to the family, below are some options to donate to organizations that the family has suggested you give to.
