Wilburn "Bill" Trotter - Unknown - April 21, 2024

Departed: 04/21/2024 (Indianapolis)
Obituary Preview: Wilburn “Bill” Trotter was born July 1st, 1928, in Trafford Alabama to Melvin and Rosa Mae Trotter. Died April 21, 2024, at St Francis hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 95.
Bill spent his early years in Trafford and Warrior, Alabama. He was the 5th child of 7. In 1946 he went to visit his sister, Juanita, and her husband in Indianapolis where he met and fell in love with Virginia Caughey. They married on November 7, 1946, in Indianapolis. They remained married until her death in 1993.
Bill and Virginia made their home near Acton, Indiana and raised 4 daughters.
Bill was a “Jack of all Trades” and could build anything. He worked hard every day of his life. Bill worked as a millwright for Western Electric, retiring in 1983. He and Virginia used to work the auction in their spare time. He was the ringmaster and loved selling anything and everything. He and Marilyn, his second wife of 28 years, continued that hobby and were still buying and selling at flea markets until he was 93.
After Bill retired from Western Electric, he founded T & W Construction with his son-in-law Rick. Later on, he went into business with his brother-in-law Dick, starting T & C Construction. They did small construction jobs all around Indianapolis.
Bill had a deep bond with his family. He was close to his parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews throughout his life. He loved to travel with as many of them as he could, all his life. Fishing, camping, hanging out by a campfire, no matter what it was, if you were with Bill, you were certain to have a good time. Many stories of great vacations could be shared by any of his family.
Bill had a great love for country and bluegrass music. He enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals and listening to the old country legends on the radio. Music was always a part of any celebration he was involved in. Having grown up the son of a coal miner, Bill grew up poor. He made sure his children and grandchildren never knew what that kind of poor felt like. He worked hard to ensure his children and grandchildren never knew what that kind of poor felt like. Christmas at his house was always a big deal!
On March 27, 1996, Bill married Marilyn Shelton. They made their home on Knapp Road until the last 2 years, moving to Rosegate garden homes in Indianapolis. Marilyn has been by his side nonstop over the last few years because of his failing health and we are thankful for that.
In his later years, Bill and Marilyn enjoyed watching and talking Pacers basketball with his grandsons.
Bill will be greatly missed. No one will ever be able to fill his shoes. Until we meet again, watch your bobber! As he told us many times over the last days of his life, “Everything is gonna be alright”.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, Rosa Mae and Melvin Trotter. His brothers, Clyde, Adron, Tom, and Sandy and his sister Juanita ~ wife, Virginia Lee Trotter. One son in law Steve Price.
Survivors include : His wife, Marilyn Trotter, 4 daughters Marcia (Mike) Arcuri, Kathy (Dave) Wyatt, Linda (Rick) Wilson and Nancy (Bill) Armstrong; one brother, Jack Trotter; nine grandchildren, Leslie Zinn, Chris Arcuri, Michael Arcuri, Robin Keerns, Sarah Evans, Jennifer Luster, Penny Brunes, Billy Armstrong and Aaron Armstrong; twenty two great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren with one on the way; three Stepchildren, John Dunbar (Connie), Pam (Freddie) Ritchie, Tammy (David) Haste, four step grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and in-laws who will miss him.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 26th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Franklin Township Chapel 5950 E. Thompson Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46237 with a funeral starting at 1:00 pm. Bill will be laid to rest in Acton Cemetery.

Jim Ragona - July 27, 1951 - February 29, 2024

Departed: 02/29/2024 (Indianapolis)
Obituary Preview: James (Jim/Jimmy/Jimbo) F. Ragona, 72, of Indianapolis Indiana, peacefully passed away on February 29th, 2024.
Jim was born in Ohio in 1951 to James and Betty Ragona. He joined the Ohio National Guard on November 17, 1970, where he served 6 years. He met the love of his life, Barbara (Barb) at the county fair in 1973 where he was running the recruiting booth for the national guard, and Barb was running the dunk tank booth next to it. They started dating in August 1973 and wed that next year on August 8, 1974.
Jim had a way about him that left a lasting impression on everyone he met, developing friendships with everyone. He participated in the community in many ways and transferred his sense of community for those around him by direct example. Jim loved to coach softball for his daughter and the community at the Franklin Township Softball League, umpired softball at various other softball leagues and participated in Cub and Boy Scouts with his son Vince.
His interests included Auto Racing, Cars, and History. Many years he attended one or more of the various races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. His love of cars was best demonstrated with the large smile on his face whenever he was able to drive his Orange (his favorite color) 2009 Miata. He was a passionate fan of the Colts; if only they had let him coach, they would have many more than the one Indianapolis Superbowl Championship.
Jim worked for years as a salesman; he was very proud of his years of direct sales experience that grew into his passion for working in the vehicle repair industry as a service advisor. He always tried to take care of the customer with a noticeable soft spot in his heart for those in need. Jim loved to visit with his family and could always be enticed to visit with promises of a great meal, conversation, and a tasty dessert. When it came to decision making, Jim loved to ‘play it by ear’ or would regularly contemplate whether he was ‘ready to pull the trigger’. Jim would regularly strike up a conversation with others using his knowledge of history, including military and food, to enlighten others with facts about different things. He always shared that if he could ‘do it again’, he would become a history teacher.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Ragona (Webber) and is survived by his children Maria L. Beattey (Justin Beattey) and Vincent J. Ragona (Bobi Ragona). Jim has five (5) grandchildren, Maddalynn (Maddie) and Josslynn Beattey, Samson Gilliland, Lena and Tommy Ragona.

The showing will be from 11am-1pm with the funeral immediately following. After the service there will be A Celebration of Life at the clubhouse for Carriage Courts community (located at the corner of S. Arlington Avenue and Timberlake Blvd.). Jim will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Barb, at Concordia Cemetery (2703 S Meridian Street) on a future date. Over the years, Pat worked as a bookkeeper at several businesses in Indianapolis, including Bostitch, Brass Office Products, Bowman Furniture, and Community Hospital East.  She retired from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Motel in 1995.  She was a hard worker and a dependable employee, and she believed, “If you’re going to do it, do it right.”  But her most treasured job was that of wife and mother and she excelled in that position.  Despite working every day, she had dinner on the table for her family every night.  Every holiday was a celebration.  And she lived her life as best she could, never compromising on what was right and wrong.  In both her personal and professional lives, the job wasn’t done until it was done right.  She cherished her history and ancestors and could tell you the names of every aunt, uncle, and cousin and loved to share stories of her childhood and growing up in “Heavensville.”
It is believed Pat was the oldest living parishioner of Nativity Catholic Church, where she was a member for more than 65 years.  She was a staple at Nativity, enjoying time with the Homemakers’ Club, the over 50 group, the Euchre club, the bowling league, the bereavement committee, and many other parish activities.  Her faith was central in her life, and she never wavered.  Bob and Pat had tons of fun with their friends from Nativity.
Pat is preceded in death by her husband Bob, son Jeffrey Thomas Hoffman, and son-in-law Dr. Joseph Baele.
She is survived by her sister Donna (Edwin) Ziliak, children Cindy (Jeff) McDaniel, Jan Baele, Pam (Jim) Goff, and Missy (David) Hathaway, and daughter-in-law Jane Hoffman.  She had 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, and she leaves behind extended family and friends to cherish her memory. It is impossible to sum up 93 years of living in a few paragraphs, but it can be said Pat was faithful, committed and all in every day. And she will be missed deeply.  As a friend said, “No matter how long we have them, it isn’t long enough.”
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson St. Pierre Franklin Township Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis, IN.
