She was born November 7, 1945, in Flora, to Carl W. and Gladys P. (Stanford) Ferguson. She was united in marriage to James Cavins on July 14, 1965, in Clintwood, Virginia, and they have celebrated 53 wedding anniversaries together.
Ruth embraced helping others, self-improvement, and using her creativity, but she is especially remembered as a loving and encouraging mom who volunteered as a Brownie troop leader for her daughters and truly treasured recent years with her grandkids and great-grandchildren. She enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in a hospital, and was later employed by the State of Illinois. She returned to college later in life and earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from Western Illinois University. Fishing, mushroom hunting, reading, and artistry in painting, pottery, and other materials were all things that Ruth enjoyed. She looked forward to family get-togethers, and could spend hours playing Canasta and all sorts of games involving dice and cards.
Ruth is survived by her husband: James Cavins of Vandalia; 3 daughters: Virginnia Harrison of Vandalia, Patty Sexson of Mattoon, and Penny Smith (husband Scott) of Woodlawn; 13 grandchildren: Hobie, Andrew, Brittany, Matthew, Erin, Austin, Mason, Ethan, Devin, Brianna, Cody, Aidan, and Britni; 3 great-grandchildren: Odessa Rose, Emery, and Eden; a brother: Tom Ferguson (wife Anna) of Flora; and a sister: Sarah Hayes (husband Jim) of Flora. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Carolyn Grimm; a son-in-law: Cary Harrison; a brother: Robert Ferguson; a sister: Joy Ferguson; and an infant brother: Wayne Ferguson.

Phyllis was born October 11, 1940, in Flora, the daughter of Harold Albert and Iva Thelma (Gahan) Turner, and was the wife of Jack McCain who preceded her in death on October 25, 2011.
Phyllis was recognized for her successful career in business as Vice-President of Piemonte Foods, Inc. for 17 years and later after earning her real estate license and working at Alliance Property Management until retiring in 2006. She attended New Life Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. Family was everything to Phyllis, devoting as much of her time with them as she could, especially in recent years.
She is survived by three daughters: Deborah McLemore of Greenville, SC, Tamara Cooper of Cleveland, SC, and Lynn (Burrell) Pittman of Easley, SC; two brothers: Clyde (Helen Fay) Greenwalt of St. Louis, MO and Don (Becky) Greenwalt of Candyland, TX; three sisters: Rose (Bill) Humm of Crowley TX, June Martin of Flora, and Leanna (Robert Jr.) Snell of Clay City; along with eleven grandchildren, eight bonus grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

He was born October 10, 1927, in Rinard, the son of Burl Howard and Margaret Angeline (Evans) Harrell. He married Nellie Mae Halterman on July 3, 1947 in Henderson, Kentucky. She preceded him in death January 4, 2004.
Clifford served in the U.S. Army. He farmed and raised cattle, was an avid coon hunter, and later took up fox hunting. He enjoyed his morning stops at Moore’s in Xenia and the local coffee shops. Clifford had a good sense of humor, enjoyed making mischief from time to time with family and friends, and enjoyed doing puzzles.
He is survived by one son: Joe (Pam) Harrell of Flora; two daughters: Christine (John) Harrington and Linda Judd both of Flora; 7 grandchildren: Heath Harrell of Flora, Andrew (Rebecca) Harrell of Carterville, Chad (Ashley) Harrell of Xenia; John Harrington Jr. of Flora, Anthony (Laura) Harrington of Flora; Kelly Judd, and Andrew (Kerri) Judd of Oklahoma City, OK; 12 great-grandchildren: Angie, Christopher, and Nick Judd, Tyler and Brent Craft, Brittany Satterila; James, Megan, Amelia, Elijah, Corbin, and Colton Harrell; siblings: JoAnn (Marvin) McCann of Flora, Edward (Wanda) Harrell of Flora, and Darrell (Betty) Harrell of Xenia. Dennis worked at a local sawmill and various other factories in the area during his life. He attended New Hope Pentecostal Church in Flora. He loved spending time at home and enjoyed being outside feeding the birds and wildlife, and also walking the track with his wife when he was able.
He is survived by his wife: Jeanette Coggin of Flora; two daughters: Krystal (Darin) Dunnigan of Flora, and Stacia (Mike) Mulvaney of Watson; three brothers: Larry Coggin of Flora, Mike (Lulu) Coggin of Oregon, and John (Cindy) Hower of Salem; three grandchildren: Jarin (Ashley) Dunnigan of Carterville, Janae Dunnigan of Marion, and Alivia Coggin of Watson; and two great-grandchildren: Jazlyn and Isaac. He was born December 30, 1946, in Wayne County, the son of Leonard Louie and Elsie Marie (Donoho) Sharp. He was united in marriage to Sharon Vest on Dec. 31, 1965.
Donald was a machinist for 21 years on the Illinois Central Railroad, and later continued working for George Smith Ag Service, retiring after 27 years. For the past 20 years he has served as a trustee and secretary for the Orchardville Fire Department, and was a past 20-year Volunteer Fireman and 3-year North Wayne EMT. Don has been a 16-year Trustee of the Orchard Township Board, and was serving on the Western Wayne Water Board. In the past, he carried out duties as a Republican Precinct Committeeman for 16 years, functioned as Tax Assessor for 12 years, and was on the Wayne City Unit 100 School Board for 12 years. Donald was a past member of the Johnsonville Ruritans, and was the sponsor of many St. Jude Bike-a-Thons over the years. He enjoyed visiting with friends, cutting wood, cooking Sunday dinners for his family, and spending time with his grandkids. Donald attended Orchardville Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Sharon Sharp of Xenia; mother: Elsie Sharp of Keenes; a son: Vincent (Missy) Sharp of Xenia; a daughter: Vadawn (Jeremy) Stroud of Iuka; four grandchildren: Dillon Sharp, Shelby Sharp, Jairva Stroud, and Jairen Stroud; a sister: Anita Dickerson of Flora; a brother: Gale (Tammy) Sharp of Keenes; an uncle: Norman (Geraldene) Sharp of East Alton; a brother-in-law: Jim Simmons of Iuka; and several nieces and nephews. She was born February 20, 1931, in Bible Grove, to Oscar and Laurel M. (Webster) Childers. Norma was united in marriage to Edwin T. Henson on August 15, 1950, in Flora at the First United Methodist Church, and they celebrated 62 wedding anniversaries together. Edwin preceded Norma in death on June 9, 2013.
Norma was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and had retired as a cook from the Xenia grade school after many years of service. Her church home for over 60 years was Xenia United Methodist Church, where she participated in the women’s group and sewing group, and where she and Edwin faithfully supported the work of the church in countless ways over the years. She enjoyed working outside at home, caring for her garden and flowers, and canning and storing the harvest. Norma will be remembered for her legacy of faith and family, and the love and caring consideration that she shared with others.
Norma is survived by a daughter: Brenda Dutcher (husband Arnold) of Springfield; a son: David Henson (wife Carolyn) of Carmi; a foster son: Les Higgason (wife Stacy) of Flora; 11 grandchildren: Heather, Shannon, Matthew, Matt, Mark, Candice, Chris, Shawn, Jeff, Brent, and Cameron; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Robert Childers (wife Beverly) of Flora, Rosemary Elmore of Newton, and Larry Childers (wife Alice) of Flora; a sister-in-law: Joyce Childers of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. She married Freddie Fatheree on July 27, 1942, and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1970. She later married Charles Kasik, and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2010. Eloise worked 20 years at the shoe factory in Flora and 20 years at a Western Sizzlin’ in Florida. She enjoyed traveling.
Eloise is survived by her son: Charles Lee Fatheree (Pennie) of Xenia; three grandchildren: Dusty Fatheree (Patty) of Xenia, Kimberly Burroughs (Steve) of Iuka, and Rowdy Fatheree (Jodi) of Mt. Vernon; and five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and seven brothers and sisters.

He was born February 23, 1958, in Flora, the son of James Larry and Mary Lena (Cordell) Schnautz. Nathan was united in marriage to Laura Kathleen Grimmett on June 2, 1984, in Greenville. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2012.
Nathan’s “make it happen” spirit arose early from his family’s strong roots in faith, his personal trust in the Scriptures, and an instinctive determination to lead by example. He was a person of both vision and action who maintained straightforward convictions. A graduate of Lawrenceville High School and St. Louis Christian College, Nathan pursued a bi-vocational path in life, following a compelling call to bring the Word to others as an evangelist and as a self-employed mechanic of heavy machinery. He was affiliated with a number of churches including his current position as minister at Patoka Christian Church, and prior churches including Buckeye Christian Church, Brown Christian Church, and Dieterich Christian Church. He, along with his family, served as a missionary in Panama for a year, and on brief mission trips to Haiti and Mexico. His adventuresome spirit led him to take an interest in aviation, and he earned his pilot’s license and operated his own vintage aircraft. He also found enjoyment in motorcycles and travel. Nathan’s children, siblings, and church family will treasure the memories of a man who loved generously and will be remembered as a constant and selfless servant of the Lord.
He is survived by his children: Seth (Chelsea) Schnautz of Louisville, Sarah Kathleen Schnautz of Kalamazoo, MI, Micah Levi Schnautz of Patoka, and Abigail Lena Schnautz of Louisville; two grandchildren: Noah Levi and Joel Thomas Schnautz; two brothers: Timothy (Bridget) Schnautz of Clay City, and Jonathan (Dee Ann) Schnautz of Dix; and one sister: Twila (Don) Sias of Orlando, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Jim was born June 27, 1937, in Latham, Tennessee, the son of Donald H. Taylor and Mary Louise (Bowles) Taylor. He was united in marriage to Rita A. Yates on June 1, 1956, in Rinard, and they have celebrated 62 wedding anniversaries together.
Jim worked at International Shoe Factory, was an assistant manager at A&P Grocery, and worked for Ashland Pipeline for over 20 years. He served as a former pastor at Forest Ridge Congregational Christian Church and Richland Christian Church and was a member of the Congregational Christian Association. He kept a church affiliation with several area churches and was often asked to fill in when needed at various churches. Jim played guitar for the Hometown Bluegrass Band and hosted a bluegrass show on WNOI for several years. He also enjoyed flying aircraft and ultralights and attended the Oshkosh Air Show for 25 years. Jim was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Flora Fun Flyers, and EAA Chapter 16, and flew for the Young Eagles Program for a number of years taking 350 young people for free airplane rides.
He is survived by his wife: Rita Taylor of Rinard; children: Barbara (Bruce) Brown of Flora, David (Kara) Taylor of Cisne, and Mike (Nancy) Taylor of Grayville; step-mother: Isabelle Taylor of Cisne; special friend: Brittany Arbuckle; 4 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; brother: Ernie (Tish) Taylor of Mt. Vernon; sister: Linda Windland of Fairfield; sister-in-law: Karen Taylor of Albion; along with four nieces and one nephew.

Barbara was born January 13, 1936, in Wayne County, the daughter of Charles Edgar and Esther V. (Hadley) Grove. She was united in marriage to Richard Eugene Dunnigan in September 1959, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Flora, and together they shared 58 years of marriage. He preceded her in death January 9, 2018.
Barbara helped Richard operate R.E. Dunnigan Electrical Service with taking care of all of the administrative work. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 56 years. She was of the Christian faith and had attended First Christian Church with her family in the past. Barbara was a caring wife and mother, enjoyed cooking and preparing many meals for her family over the years, and enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles.
She is survived by two sons: Mark Dunnigan and Darin (Krystal) Dunnigan both of Flora; a grandson: Jarin (Ashley) Dunnigan; a granddaughter: Janae Dunnigan; two great-grandchildren: Jazlyn and Isaac; a brother: Jim (Linda) Grove of Flora; a brother-in-law: Carroll Simpson of Howell, Michigan; along with nieces, nephews, and several special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister: Kathryn Simpson; and three brothers: Charles Grove, E.L. “Bud” Grove, and Truman Grove.

He was born January 31, 1936, in Cisne, the son of H. Verne and Elizabeth (Tenney) Conard. On October 30, 1955, Galen was united in marriage to Marion J. Bass at the Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church in Cisne and they celebrated 61 wedding anniversaries together. She preceded him in death September 10, 2017.
Galen worked for Ashland Oil for 23 years as a backhoe operator and foreman. Previously he worked for Flora Shoe Factory, Butler’s, and did other oil field related work. He has been a member of Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church for many years, serving as trustee, drove the church bus for over a decade, and enjoyed his time in retirement keeping busy with helping the church and doing work for family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and driving his golf cart around the property. Marion was his life’s companion and in later years he was a loving caregiver to her. Galen will be remembered as a great father and grandfather.
He is survived by four daughters: Brenda Simpson (John) of Fairfield, Lorie Freeman of McLean, VA, Cathy Draughn (Don) of Kannapolis, NC, and Gayla Smith of Ashland City, TN; a brother: Floy Conard (Mel) of Cisne; a sister: Dorothy Atteberry of Cisne; sister-in-law: Judy Conard of Cisne; son-in-law: Ernie Taylor (Tish) of Salem; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Marjorie had worked as a seamstress at the Genesco Garment Factory in Olney and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She loved to quilt and had made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. Marjorie also did volunteer work, making and donating bibs for local nursing homes, and was known for her homemade angel food cakes and loved to dance.
She is survived by her children: Parvin Murbarger (Carolyn) of Clay City, Deanna Benson (Dave) of Bolingbrook, Sharon David of Cisne, and Eunice Heusack (Mike) of St. Louis; six grandchildren: Anthony Rutt, Debra Fehrenbacher, Ryan Fehrenbacher, Aaron Williams, Amanda Dees, and Marty David; nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Retha Murbarger; one brother-in-law: Neal Murbarger; along with several nieces and nephews. Bob was born in Wesley, Iowa, on May 14, 1930, the son of Louis and Josephine (Rosner) Lickteig. He married Mary K. Griffith on June 16, 1995, in Clinton, and they have celebrated 23 wedding anniversaries together.
Bob was raised on a farm and worked hard throughout his life. He served in the U.S. Army during Korea. His career was in advertising and was a security guard at Synergy Power Plant in later years. Bob tried to retire several times but kept on going back to work. His pastimes included working on word searches, keeping his car cleaned and polished, and he loved to travel and drive. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile. While a resident at the Care Center, Bob often took it upon himself to keep the floors clean of stray leaves, making sure that the front welcome mat was straight and clean, and his friendliness to others when passing out many chocolate treats to visitors. He wore western clothing and was a fan of country music. He was raised in the Catholic faith and was a past member of Knights of Columbus along with his father and brothers. He made the decision to be baptized in the Church of Christ and he and Mary attended services together.
Bob is survived by his wife: Mary Lickteig; 2 daughters: Abbie and Kim; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Bobby; and siblings: Al, Ed, George, Theresa, Marge and Tom.

Judy was born January 4, 1945, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Lincoln Delbert Goble and Lois B. (Dannatt) Goble. She married John Larry Wilson on October 29, 1965, at North Harter Christian Church in Louisville, and together they shared 52 years of marriage.
Judy worked at Sparton Manufacturing, Addus Health Care, and operated a daycare in her home. After retirement she helped raise her grandchildren. She was raised in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Louisville American Legion Post #914 Ladies Auxiliary.
Judy enjoyed special moments such as taking her granddaughters and their friends on convertible rides, going on shopping trips with her daughter and granddaughters, being in the kitchen and cooking, having her morning coffee on the porch with her husband, planting and caring for her flowers, and hosting many summertime pool parties. She was the biggest fan at any sporting event for her children and grandchildren and was named Flora Jr. High Super Fan of the Year 1981-1982. She also cheered Emma on when attending all of her tumbling meets. Judy cherished her life long friends and loved her dog “Fannie” who has been her buddy for the past 15 years. Her family was truly the most important thing in her life and she will be remembered by her beautiful smile and her “one of a kind” sense of humor.

Joe worked for the B&O Railroad for over 35 years, starting as a yardman and retiring as an engineer. He also worked as a roughneck in the oilfield. Joe was a member of Red Brush Christian Church and often reminisced about his baptism and putting his faith in God at age 40. He loved taking rides, making regular visits to Grandma’s Kitchen and McDonalds.

Maggie and Larry enjoyed traveling on motorcycles throughout the United States, taking many month-long vacations over the years. She also enjoyed reading and her dog “Max” was her true buddy for the past 8 years.

Obituary Preview: Marvin “Marv” Joseph Leanna, musician and southwestern artist, born January 22, 1941 in Woodstock, IL, to Robert and Eleanor (Lickman) Leanna, passed to the next life on June 11, 2018, in his home in Sahuarita, Arizona with his loving family at his side. A kind and gentle spirit, Marv was a loving and constant positive presence to everyone who knew him.
He graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Woodstock, IL and went on to Loras College in Iowa and Minneapolis Institute of Art in Minnesota, where he married Sally Tibbets in 1961, before beginning his work career for his father at Woodstock Heating Company. He later purchased that business and spent 35 plus years serving the community. He was a member of the Woodstock Jaycees, Rotary, active in PTA, and on the Little League Board for many years, as well as a member of the Pastel Artists of America and the country-western band, the PM Express.
He retired and moved to Arizona in 1998, where he served as a volunteer portraying a “padre” with the Los Tubaqueanos at Tubac State Park, and the Tumacacori National Historical Park, where he served on various committees’ as well as president of the Friends of Tumacacori for a time. Throughout his life he enjoyed his gardening, his artwork, and his music.
He is survived by his wife, Nola Hoard Kruspig Leanna, his father, Robert Leanna of AZ, one son, Rob (Bridgett) Leanna, two daughters, Kelly (Bill) Hallam, and Shannon (Danny) Taylor, all of IL, as well as stepdaughter, Emily Kruspig-Church, and stepson, Rich Kruspig, both of AZ, and grandchildren, Amanda (Daniel) Antczak, Josh (Mubu) Hallam, Jeremy (Catie) Leanna, Ali (Cody) Kunz, Sydney and Haley Leanna, Sarah and Dominic Taylor, step grandson, Timothy Church, and great grandchildren, Summer Taylor, Zane Hallam and Emma Kunz; also two sisters, Lorraine Menzimer of IL and Judy Tessendorf of CO, and several nieces and nephews. Marv was preceded to the next life by his mother and his sister, Juanita Ritzert.
A memorial celebration of Marv’s life will be held in Woodstock from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 30, at Flores Banquets, 240 N. Throop St. (the former VFW building where the PM Express played in times past).

She cherished family, raising her children with care and serving as a past girl scout leader, and experiencing a glowing new passion when grandkids became part of her life. Vacations to Panama City, shopping, taking time to talk with everyone she met wherever she went, fishing, and frequently capturing moments with her camera were all part of a life of precious memories and wonderful times that Lori shared with those she loved and embraced with a Christian heart of faith and kindness.
Lori is survived by her husband, Donnie Persinger of Xenia; 2 sons, Preston Persinger (Roni) and Cody Persinger both of Flora; a daughter, Becca Persinger of Xenia; 4 grandchildren, Alexis, Drew, Zoey, and Bella Ann; maternal grandmother, Mary Lister; mother-in-law, Velda Lambrich; 5 brothers and sisters, Tony Klingler (Susan) and family Greg, Paige, Brayden, and Livvy Klingler, Lee Klingler, Shane McKinney, Mary Lou Morris (Ryan), and Kelly Sue Klinger; 2 sisters-in-law, Rhonda Lewis (Jim) and family, Heather Hower (Jason), Heidi Lewis, and J.T.
