Roger Giesmann - August 12, 1971 - August 13, 2021

Departed: 08/13/2021 (Adams)
Obituary Preview: Roger Earl Giesmann Jr., 50, of Adams, Nebraska passed away on August 13th, 2021. He was born August 12, 1971, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
An avid outdoorsman, husband and father, Roger's love of life didn't come to an end with his death. Roger had an uncanny knack to make friends easily, in fact he did not know a stranger and was oftentimes given a half hour to an hour leeway on where he was going as we all knew that he would be visiting all the while stating that he really should be going. Roger was typically quiet (maybe it was due to the rest of us being so loud lol) but when he laughed it was infectious, deep and very contagious.
You knew that if you had something you needed help with you just gave Roger a call, he would put his work on hold to help his family and friends with what they needed.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Roger. He loved a quiet evening with family and friends, a deck of cards and a cold beer in hand. Roger had a gesture that told us he loved us without words being spoken, it was a simple squeezing of your shoulder when he saw you and we all knew that was 'I love you'.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Roger Giesmann Sr. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Giesmann and her three daughters Marissa, Sarah, and Riley Page; his children, Cole (Lora) Giesmann and Kacie (Cole) Kilgore; granddaughter, Jorie Kilgore; parents Sherrill and Robert Siefken; siblings, Jim Lange, Rhonda (Jon) Brinkman, Ron (Kim) Lange, and Angie (Tyson) Dowding; along with his 11 nieces and nephews.

Lloyd D. Ruemelin - August 27, 1930 - March 12, 2021

Departed: 03/12/2021 (Adams)
Obituary Preview: Lloyd Dean Ruemelin, Adams, reached his heavenly home on March 12, 2021. He came into the world on August 27, 1930 when he was born to Emil and Effie (Dodson) Ruemelin. He would often talk about his farmer father not seeing rain for 5 years after he was born. This early family struggle may have shaped Lloyd’s amazing constant gratitude and caring, positive attitude that he carried throughout his life. Lloyd grew up on that farm near Crab Orchard until the age of 14 when he moved with his parents to a farm near Adams and graduated from Adams High School in 1947. Upon graduation Lloyd was employed by Nieveen Oil in Adams, driving the fuel truck.
Marriage entered into Lloyd’s life on September 23, 1949 when he became the husband of Elnore “Babe” Behrens. He soon took up the career of farming and continued in this endeavor for 18 years, taking pleasure in working the land and raising livestock. Parenthood also entered in to Lloyd’s life during this time, becoming a father to four girls between 1952 and 1962. By 1970, Lloyd, in pursuit of a different direction in agriculture, bought a farm supply store in Adams, engaging in a Purina feed business as well as being a Golden Harvest seed dealer. He enjoyed his work through the years with the farmers of the community in this business, looking forward to visiting their farms during feed deliveries. This is also the time when he moved his family from a house on the farm to city life in Adams. Lloyd’s Feed and Seed store was a stalwart business on main street for 24 years until Lloyd decided retirement was in order and sold his business, but did not quit working. Having a lifetime interest in nature and plants, Lloyd began mowing for the town of Adams during his retirement and found great satisfaction and pride in keeping the park and ballfields looking neat and trimmed. He was also instrumental in creating and maintaining the park at the north entrance of Adams. One could also find Lloyd occasionally filling in for Rusty at the Klein Hardware store.
Lloyd loved his faith, his family and the Adams community and wore many “hats” in his service to all of them. He served on the school board for 14 years, was a school bus driver and a volunteer on the town fire department. Lloyd was an active member of the American Lutheran Church of Adams, serving for numerous years on the church council. Many will remember Lloyd as the “head cook” at the annual Adams barbecue. One of Lloyd’s favorite hats, however, says “Grandpa” on it. He always held his family close to his heart and his nine grandchildren always held their Grandpa Lloyd in high esteem.
Family mourning his loss, but celebrating his life, include his and Babe’s four daughters: Rita (Calvin) Fix of Cortland, Charlene (Terry) Marschman of Fairbury, Patty (Max) Searcey of Marysville, KS and LaVon (Kevin) Parde of Geneva; grandchildren, Craig (Kim) Fix, Mindy Marschman, Bret (Kelsey) Marschman, Shannon (Mike Bussmann) Searcey, Shane Searcey, Luke (Linnea) Parde, Nate Parde, and Abbie Parde; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Donna Acton and Bonnie Ward, as well as two sisters-in-law, Ruth Allen and Maxine Behrens and many nephews and nieces that were always special to him.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Elnore, in 2014, his grandson Corey Fix, his parents, parents-in-law, Ekke and Clara Behrens, his brother, Bob Ruemelin and a host of in-laws and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the American Lutheran Church of Adams with Pastor Nathan Metzger officiating. Masks are preferred and social distancing will be observed. If you would like to watch the funeral service livestreamed, please go to the church’s Facebook page. Private immediate family burial will be at the Highland Cemetery of Adams. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 P.M. on Tuesday at the church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Adams from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. and one hour preceding the service at the church on Tuesday. Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's often used to share information about the deceased with family, friends, and community members.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the life of the deceased, while also providing important information to those who need it. They can help facilitate communication among loved ones, provide closure, and offer a sense of community during a difficult time.

Who typically writes an obituary?

In most cases, the family of the deceased or a close friend will write the obituary. However, funeral homes or mortuaries may also offer assistance in writing and publishing obituaries as part of their services.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. You may also include funeral or memorial service details, charitable donations, or other relevant information.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or online platform. Generally, they range from a few sentences to several paragraphs. Aim for a concise yet meaningful summary of the person's life.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can help bring the person's memory to life and make the tribute more personal.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper or online platform?

Check the submission guidelines for your chosen publication or platform. Typically, you'll need to provide the written obituary, along with any photos or additional materials required. Some funeral homes may also handle submissions on your behalf.

Is there a cost associated with publishing an obituary?

The cost varies depending on the publication or platform. Some newspapers and online sites offer free or low-cost obituary listings, while others may charge a fee based on the length or prominence of the notice.

What's the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, usually including only essential details like name, age, and date of death. An obituary provides more extensive information about the person's life and legacy.
