He enjoyed fishing and a late-night run to the casinos with his best friend, Lenny. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved when his children would take him out to eat, with his choice always being the buffet style. He enjoyed music from the 1950s and 1960s and loved the classic series from Alfred Hitchcock, with his favorite movie being "The Godfather."
Tom is survived by his five children, Christ Dallas and his wife Amber Dallas of Buffalo, Missouri, Cynthia Judd of Richmond, Missouri, Thomas Bryon Dallas Jr, and his wife Yan Hong Dallas of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Tracy A. Reed and her husband D.J. Reed of Cameron, Missouri, and Melony Wells of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Bryon, Ashley, Tyler, Koda, Alexis, Kaylee, Stephen, Nicholas, Makayla, Maggie, Wyatt, Evan, Kieran, Gracie, J.J., and Emma; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister; and a brother.

Odetta Mae Weedin - November 06, 1936 - February 11, 2019

Departed: 02/11/2019 (Waverly)
Obituary Preview: Odetta Mae Weedin, of Waverly, Missouri, formerly of O‘Fallon and Webb City, Missouri, peacefully passed away with the ending prayer of solace and the surrounding embrace of her family at 12:00 p.m. (high noon!) on Monday, February 11, 2019, at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, Missouri.
She lived as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, being granted an earthly life of 82 years, 3 months, and 5 days.
It was on a Friday, November 6, 1936, in Webb City, Missouri, that the Lord blessed the home of Clarence Jolly and Ruby Juanita (Crutcher) Danford with a baby girl they named Odetta Mae. She was the only child born to this union and baptized in the Southern Baptist faith. Odetta attended school in Webb City and graduated with the class of 1954 from Webb City High School and continued her education at Southwest Baptist College. She began her career employed as a bookkeeper in Webb City. It was during this time when Odetta met a gentleman who also attended First Baptist Church of Webb City. Odetta accepted his proposal for her hand in marriage and on Saturday, March 14, 1964 - in the same church where they met - she became the wife of Mr. Glenn Eugene Weedin. They were richly blessed to be the parents of four children, Elizabeth Annette, Ruth Diane, Keith Duane, and Glenn Eugene, Jr. Odetta and Glenn were the perfect couple and complimented each other equally. They shared much laughter and a few tears but always held to their binding love. Glenn sadly preceded her in death on January 17, 2017.
Odetta worked in Webb City until 1967. From 1967 until 2000, she worked as a bookkeeper for St Charles County and also a sales representative for Sarah Coventry Jewelry in the O’Fallon area. After retirement, they decided to relocate to Glenn’s hometown of Waverly, Missouri. She also assisted with the preparations and organizing of Glenn’s Santa Fe High School, Class of 1955, reunion celebrations. She embraced living in Waverly and proudly supported the community with Glenn.
Odetta was a trustworthy, generous, and devoted individual dedicating herself to a well-run life and home. Odetta leaned on family and the Waverly community when her life altered with the undesired void of losing her husband, Glenn. She began to heal by gradually becoming more active helping carpool several ladies weekly to attend dinners and community affairs. Their dedicated dates were, Tuesday Night Supper Out at local churches, Wednesday night BINGO at the Waverly Apple BBQ, and Friday night dinner at the Main Street Café in Carrollton, along with weekly shopping and lunches together. They anticipated the Knights of Columbus fish fry dinners at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carrollton. She also helped the Apple Pan Dowdies group with their renowned and esteemed fried apple pies sold at the Waverly Apple Jubilee each September. Odetta had another outing with many of her cousins monthly for the traditional Cousin Birthday Lunch and they would share the latest stories of family and friends and exchange birthday cards for those celebrating. Passing the cards around the table was tradition to enjoy the love they all shared. These ladies were a blessing to her and each other by offering a wonderful support system. Odetta dearly loved and cherished each of these ladies and their time together meant a great deal to her healing heart.
Odetta had many talents and skills. She loved to play the piano, loved to listen and sing good musical pieces and she kept several houseplants while enjoying flowers, gardening, and doing yard work. Odetta loved personally picking out cards for all occasions for family and friends with her monthly visit to Hallmark. She loved cooking the family meals and making everyone’s favorite Grandma pie. She enjoyed scrapbooking the memories of family photos, special trips were taken, and class reunions since family and friends were the most important to her. One of her more cherished activities was camping with Glenn, family, and friends in their RV.
Odetta is survived by four children, twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many cherished in-laws, cousins and friends. - Daughter Elizabeth Annette “Beth” (Mike) Stahlman of St. Peters, Missouri and their children Daniel (Miranda) Stahlman, Kaylee and Gavin; Timothy (Julie) Stahlman, Kaitlyn, Allison and Micah; Marcus (Kellie) Stahlman, Landon and Jade - Daughter Ruth Diane (Lee) Shipman of Columbus, Indiana and their children Jamie Lee and August - Son Keith Duane (Kelly) Weedin of Anchorage, Alaska and their children Seth, Jonathan, Philip and David - Son Glenn Eugene Jr., “Gene” (Susan) Weedin of Springfield, Missouri and their children Nicholas, Benjamin and Jessica

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It may also include information about their family, accomplishments, and any notable achievements.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to inform friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a sense of closure and help to celebrate the life of the deceased.

Who typically writes an obituary?

The responsibility of writing an obituary usually falls on the family members or close friends of the deceased. Funeral homes or crematories may also offer assistance in writing and publishing obituaries.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral services, memorial donations, and other relevant details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication and the family's preferences. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from a few sentences to a short paragraph.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a meaningful way to personalize the notice and help readers remember the deceased.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper or online publication?
