Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Donna Parris(Mark), and Lisa Blanchard (Jason); two sons, Richard Pruitt and Joseph Pruitt; two sisters, Ann Jackson(James) and Dianne Dunaway(Dennis); one brother, Bill Pruitt(Patsy), six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a special friend, Jean Barker; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Forest Hills Funeral Home-Legacy Chapel-235 East Blackstock Rd, Spartanburg, conducted by Rev. Ralph Jett. Visitation will follow the service. The family is at the home.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Potts, a brother, C.W. Moore and a sister, Grace Nelson.

Cynthia was a 1984 graduate of Spartanburg High School and also attended Spartanburg Methodist College and Virginia College. She was always willing to help out and volunteer at various churches and at Goodfellows for many years. She was employed at Whitney Yarn Mill for 12 years. Cynthia will be missed by a host of relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Timothy Thornton(Michele) and J.P. Thornton(Julie); four sisters; Cathy Thompson(Bert) of Alvin, Texas, Judie Reid(Marty) of Rutherfordton, NC, Libby Sullivan(Danny) of Spartanburg and Lori Thornton of Spartanburg; two brothers, Rev. Chuck Thornton (Libby) and Jamie Thornton of Spartanburg; four grandchildren; Kaylie, Shane, Perry and Hadley; long time, devoted friends, Toby Swinford, Darrell Lowe and Rev. Danny Easler.; he was predeceased by a brother, Steven "Buck" Thornton.
Louie always had a smile on his face and helped a lot of people in many ways. He loved to fish and hunt and was a Gamecock fan. He was a faithful member of Peace Free Will Baptist Church as long as his health allowed. He loved his church and church family. He was lovingly cared for by his sister, Lori Thornton.
Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 PM at Peace Free Will Baptist Church prior to the 3:00 PM memorial service conducted by Rev. Chuck Thornton, Rev. Danny Easler and Rev. Marty Reid.

His works have been exhibited in galleries in Western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina and Charleston, SC.
