Connor Edward Vieira - December 26, 1998 - April 09, 2022

Departed: 04/09/2022 (Atlanta)
Obituary Preview: Dunwoody resident Connor Edward Vieira, 23, passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2022.
Connor was born December 26, 1998, the third and youngest child of Ken and Nancy Vieira. He graduated from Dunwoody High School in 2017 and was attending Kennesaw State University at the time of his death.
Connor was fun-loving, a comedian, and a smart ass. Friends and family recall that Connor, in one sentence, could make someone furious and fall over laughing at the same time. Whatever he loved, he embraced it wholly, whether it was collectible swag, sneakers, playing basketball, or X-box. He never met a chicken nugget, pan of macaroni and cheese, or Cuban sandwich that he didn’t love.
As a child, Connor had no fear of failing and wanted to try everything. He played every youth sport available, including basketball, soccer, football, swimming, and baseball. He loved to play with his older brother, Zach, on the family basketball court, make brownies with his big sister, Mallory, hug on his mom and play games with his dad. He was also a little brother to many of Zachary and Mallory’s friends. He had a kind heart.
Sadly, he battled substance abuse for several years, which led to his untimely and tragic end. He was on the road to recovery and not ready to leave us. His family mourns the lost potential that they saw in Connor that he didn’t see in himself, and there will be a huge hole in their hearts forever.
Connor was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecilia and Edward Junay. He is survived by his parents, Nancy Junay and Ken Vieira; his sister, Mallory Wickersham (Marshall); and his brother, Zachary. He is also survived by his grandparents, Sarah and Tom Vieira; aunts and uncles, Lisa and Ray Vieira, Margaret and TJ Vieira, Tommy and Dawn Junay, Diane and Andy Rice, and Michelle and Stephen Junay; cousins, Tommy Junay, Joey Junay, Jessica Junay, Kevin Junay, Christina Vieira, Brittney Vieira, Kelly Vieira, Marianne Spurrier, Maggie Stewart, Tommy Vieira, and Katie Westerfield.

Departed: 03/30/2022 (Atlanta)
Obituary Preview: Brian Douglas Morrow, 61, of Atlanta, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 30, 2022, while traveling in Istanbul, Turkey. Brian was born August 26, 1960 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and spent the great majority of his childhood in that area. He is a 1978 graduate of Saline (Michigan) High School. He played baseball throughout his youth and was the sports reporter for the local paper the Saline Reporter. He served in this role until he retired in 2021. During much of his time in Dallas, Washington DC, and Atlanta, Brian remained an avid A-level softball player and coach. Carol S. Bayruns - December 12, 1936 - March 29, 2022

Departed: 03/29/2022 (Atlanta)
Obituary Preview: Carol Spuhler Bayruns, age 85, Atlanta, completed her colorful lifelong journey to heaven on March 29, 2022, surrounded by her children and grandchildren as they showered her with all the love, joy and happiness she so deserved.
Carol was born in Camden, NJ, the youngest of four children, and grew up in Merchantville.  She developed her love of salty sandy beaches spending fun-filled summers between the shore in Ship Bottom, NJ, the lakes at Fort Dix, and the beaches in St. Petersburg, FL.  She graduated from Camden Catholic High School with the class of 1954.  Her friendships were long-lasting and included her inseparable grammar school bud Patsy Mecca whose friendship went on to flourish for 79 years.
Carol married Robert Bayruns, Sr. and they had four beautiful children in very short order, Carol Ann, Bob, Janice, and Linda were all brought into the world one year apart.  She and her young family moved to Louisville, KY where they lived for 17 years and raised their children.  Being a Mom was her absolute greatest joy in life.  She had a flair for everything she did including motherhood, bringing a sense of frivolity and festivity to every holiday and occasion.  She carried her thirst for exploration and learning everywhere she went with her four kids in tow taking in the history and culture of their hometown at Churchill Downs, Locust Grove, Louisville Slugger, outdoor theater, Mammoth Cave, The Belle of Louisville, she wanted her children to experience it all.  She was known for her whimsical birthday cakes shaped like rabbits, butterflies, rocking horses and elephants long before it became a food show craze.   Carol always supported and celebrated her children’s individuality and uniqueness in the world.
Carol and her husband moved to Tampa, FL area where she would finally be able to return to her love of being near the ocean.  Her sense of adventure and thirst for trying new things went into full force when she moved to the Tampa Bay area and fearlessly immersed herself in exciting activities including scuba diving, sky diving, running races, and as always exploring the local arts, culture, and community theater.
Carol worked with Hyatt Hotels for 10 years and took full advantage of the opportunity to satisfy her wanderlust and stay in Hyatt Regencies across the world.  She was unafraid to travel by herself, and always sought out the local botanical gardens and arboretums, flowers and Mother Nature being just another passion of hers.
At 64 she was ready to retire.  Feeling like she was “dying on the vine,” she saw an ad for a summer workshop with the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, she auditioned and was accepted.  Little did her family and friends know that this was a lifelong dream of hers to become an actor.  She applied for a two-year program, and upon being accepted she sold her house and her car, put her possessions in storage and moved to the Big Apple not knowing a soul.  She fearlessly took on NYC, completely immersing herself in everything this iconic city has to offer, and quickly became a “city girl.”  The fast pace exhilarated her.  When her adult children visited, she led the way like a mother duck through subways, buses, parks, skyscrapers, back alleyways to take in all the sights, her little ducklings following obediently behind.  She went on to build an impressive portfolio of performances and appearances in film, commercials and stage including A Dangerous Place, Bad Mom’s Christmas, The Interpreter, Liars, High School Sex Reality Show, Men, The Foreigner, Twelve Angry Jurors, I.E “In Other Words, Monsters Inside Me, Absolute Trust, Last Minute Dating, and more.  After 10 years of a rollicksome and wide-ranging acting career, she moved to Atlanta to be closer to her family.
Of all her splendiferous passions, Carol’s greatest passion of all was to spread Love and Peace everywhere she went and with everyone she met.  Her Love of humanity springs from the deepest part of her heart and soul in such a way that people are drawn to her.  Her wellspring of Love was bottomless, and she freely shared with all who needed acceptance and unconditional Love.  It was often people who were lost and most needed help and guidance who came into Carol’s life.  Family meant everything Carol and she welcomed everyone into her family. Carol’s children have this to say about their beloved Mom:
Our Mom, the most wonderful Mom anyone could ask for.
Our Mom, our inspiration for kindness, unconditional love, compassion, and humility.
Our Mom was a Badass Mom.  She made her own way, she didn’t let anyone stop her.
Our Mom, she persevered through unbelievable adversity in her life, unspeakable loss and painful tragedy.  She lost her own mother at the tender young age of 9, and her precious oldest daughter, Carol Ann, tragically when Carol Ann was 22 years old.  She was in New York during 911.  She has battled more odds and more obstacles that we can possibly describe here.
From our Mom we learned that everything is possible, that you can make your dreams come true.   She learned sky-diving and scuba diving, she ran races and traveled to far countries, she became an actress in New York City at the age of 65.
Our Mom, she doesn’t just look at the rainbow, she grabs it.
Our Mom, tough as nails but in the gentlest way. She picks herself up, gives her feathers a shake and moves forward.
From our Mom we learned to accept the things we cannot change, to change the things we can, and to ask for God's wisdom to know the difference.
From our Mom we learned that of all life's lessons, forgiveness is the path to inner peace and true joy.
She is our Mom, quintessentially. She gives us motherly advice without admonishment, she fusses over us without doting, she wants us to be happy without sacrificing her own, she loves us no matter what.
We love you more than words can ever describe.  We are grateful every day in every way that God blessed us with the miracle of you, our Mom. Love, Bob, Janice and Linda

Gabriela Muresan - June 20, 1969 - March 17, 2022

Departed: 03/17/2022 (Atlanta)
Obituary Preview: Gabriela Muresan, 52, died peacefully in her home, in the company of her husband and children, on the morning of March 17th, 2022.
A mainstay of the Decatur, Georgia, Waldorf community, Gabriela led so many people from toddlerhood to childhood. She is survived by her seventeen or more treasured godchildren, proof of her deep gift of shepherding the soul toward maturation. In the home-based playgroup that she founded and led for twenty-five years, she met each child with wit, wisdom, and warm-heartedness. For the past several years, some of her earliest students returned to teach at her side.
While Gabriela focused her nurturance on the smallest among us professionally, in her personal life she extended this trait to everyone. The stories of her generosity are many. She took baby gifts to pregnant cashiers at Aldi, one of her weekly grocery stops. She set up a feeding station for the feral dog she discovered living in the woods behind her house. While on vacation in Costa Rica, she saw that a family was having a birthday party, and she found a present in her luggage to gift the birthday girl. Everyone who knew Gabriela was a recipient of her spontaneous joy, and everyone who knew her witnessed at least once her boundless kindness toward strangers.
Perhaps part of Gabriela’s ease with others had to do with her many talents. She was a champion on the pool table, as at ease with an electric guitar as an acoustic, gifted at knitting, painting, cooking, and crafting. She was a skilled mathematician, made dolls of all sorts, wrote and published poetry, and was so skilled at witty word play that one of her nicknames was “Wee Wis-Dome.” There simply wasn’t a situation in which she did not participate with delight and spunk.
Gabriela was a true warrior of the spirit, her heart open and undefended, her will brilliant enough to support such love. Originally from the middle of Transylvania, Romania, she and her beloved of thirty-five years, Ovidiu Muresan, by whom she is survived, moved to the United States in 1995 year after unexpectedly obtaining green cards through the lottery system. They went first to Spring Valley, New York, so that Gabriela could attend Spring Valley Waldorf Training. The transition to this new life wasn’t easy, and at one point Ovidiu said, “The only thing you could tell me now is that you’re pregnant.” Indeed, she was! Gabriela decided it was time to find Ovidiu a good job, so she found an interview for him and then attended it with him because he did not yet speak English. Together they landed the position.
Twenty-seven years later, Gabriela and Ovi have a beautiful home in Atlanta. Their first son, Anton, is now twenty-five, and their second son, Andrei, is twenty-one. Anton has been married for almost a year to Cristina, also of Romania. Gabriela’s sons and daughter-in-law live near her in Georgia. She spoke often of Andrei’s enormous heart and Anton’s passion and creativity. Ovidiu was her soul’s true mate. Gabriela’s husband and sons were the brightest stars in her life.
