Esperanza “Lula” to everyone, loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Lula devoted her life to her children and their home. She loved spending time with them playing paco but also loved playing Bingo and going to the casino, especially in Vegas. Lula was also a true sports fan. She enjoyed watching baseball, the Winter Olympics and most especially loved the Spurs, Manu Ginobli was her favorite. Lula is preceded in death by her husband Samuel and two sons, Roland and Salvador De Los Santos. She is survived by her children, Samuel De Los Santos (Leonor), Delfina Granado, Rogelio De Los Santos (Elva), Armando De Los Santos (Bobbie), Henry De Los Santos; twenty grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was blessed to be able to enjoy five generations of family and she will be greatly missed. We love you Mom!!

Rebecca was an employee of the Primary-Elementary School in Karnes City where she enjoyed working with all her school family and children.

Obituary Preview: Anita V. Esparza, 77 of Runge, went to meet her Heavenly Father, October 7, 2023. She was born on January 31, 1946, in Runge, Texas to the late Rodrigo Vasquez and Vicenta Vela Vasquez.
Anita grew up and attended school in Choate, Texas. She worked in the cotton fields each summer, where she met the love of her life, Johnny Esparza. They were eventually married and had 2 children. Anita unexpectedly became a widow in 1982 and then took on the role of both mother and father to her children. She has been a long-time resident of Runge Texas and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and enjoyed praying the rosary daily.
Anita was not just a parent to her two children, but eventually fostered many other children throughout her life. Some of these children still refer to her as mom to this day. She had a way of making everyone feel like family.
Anita loved to cook, and you could always smell the aromas of love coming from her kitchen. Her family traditionally gathered at her home each Wednesday and Friday evening for dinner. She held different jobs throughout her lifetime, but the most important role to her was that of MOM.
Anita is survived by her children, Tania Esparza, Troy Esparza (Andrea), Alexandrea “Alex” Altamirano, Jimmie Zapata, and Daniel Ybarra; grandchildren, Jeric Esparza, Jaden Esparza, Alyssa Zapata, Aimee Zapata, Aiden Ybarra, and Arabella Ybarra; brothers, Luciano Vasquez (Josie) and Hector Vasquez; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny P. Esparza; parents, Rodrigo Vasquez, and Vicenta (Vela) Vasquez; and brother, Rodrigo Vasquez, Jr. (Genoveva).
A visitation will be held Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5-8 pm, with a Rosary at 7pm at Finch Funeral Chapel-Runge. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 10am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Runge. Interment will be 10am Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Runge Latin American Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Alejandro V. Rios, a wonderful and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 in San Antonio. He was 75 years young. Alejandro was born on December 31, 1945 in Runge to Jose Garcia and Ninfa (Vela) Rios.
Alejandro truly enjoyed volunteering every year at the St. Anthony Catholic Church Father’s Day Picnic. He would be there, without fail, from sunrise to sunset. He also loved to participate in and watch several sports, especially baseball. He was often seen bowling in Kenedy, watching the Runge Yellowjackets or attending a Spurs game every now and then. His love/ hate relationship with the Dallas Cowboys will always be remembered. Alejandro’s natural sense of humor will surely be missed by all who knew him.
Alejandro is preceded in death by his parents; wife Juanita V. Rios; and great-grandson Daylen J. Rios. He is survived by his children, JoAnn De La Cerda (Brett), Alejandro V. Rios Jr., Luciano V. Rios and Ninfa Marie Carrier (Quinton); 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jose Rios Jr. (Rita), Eddie Rios (Mary), and Homer Rios; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family and many friends.

They had twin girls, Dorelia and Alma Delia and a son, Luis, Jr. They also raised a granddaughter, Amy. He has five grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He worked at Knowlton’s and Oak Farms for 45 years. He also worked at cutting yards to make extra money. He was a gentle soul and a strong hard worker and always kept busy. He did not go to school, but he knew how to do everything especially working on cars and carpentry. His skills for home improvement and mechanics were impeccable for someone who did not go to school. He loved to travel and visit family. He loved his family very much, near and far. He was kind hearted and everyone loved him. He loved watching novelas, playing PACO, going gambling and dancing. Many times he could be found playing Paco with Mom, Dorelia and Tony just to pass the time and have fun. He loved picking up the kids from school and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was everybody’s Grandpa. He was always wearing a cowboy hat and a smile.
